the worst manicure experience i've ever had. the previous gel manicures here were fine, but when i scheduled a fix for a broken nail, my technician cut my skin MULTIPLE times after i repeatedly told her to be more careful. the skin under one of my nails is now bleeding and still hurts. the tech did not properly deal with the cut until i asked her to disinfect it. i did not want to be charged for this service, and instead of apologizing for the cutting and bleeding, the manager was rude and unapologetic, and was extremely unprofessional. read more

I never leave bad reviews but I felt compelled to do so. I booked through ClassPass and while checking out they were not able to find my ClassPass appointment and still made me pay an extra $97. On top of that, I got a standard gel manicure that looks as if it was done by a toddler. It's uneven, blotchy, and EXPENSIVE. I called the owner calmly explaining how I was unhappy and he proceeded to start yelling at me and cutting me off at every chance he could. It was uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional. I had long beautiful nails with 3 broken but he decided without my approval to cut it down thinking by shorter I thought he meant half way not down to the bone. Once cut down he pulled out acrylics to add to my short nails!?? Without my approval! I told him NOOOOOO I don't do that! Why would he assume I would want to extend my nails with plastic when I could have just repaired the few that I broke?! At this point it was too late to do anything so I sat quietly as he finished asking if I now wanted any designs. Wtf? On my very short nails? NOT! They ended up charging me $25 dollars to remove the gel powder because I didn't want the same thing again as last time!! Well you didn't even give me the option! How could I even do the same thing. Not even possible when my nails were cut super short. The total came to $77 for something I didn't even ask for! I'm very upset and I paid way too much to remove something when it was done by the same instrument and it hurt and burned he was way too rough. read more

I live in Santa Monica and wanted to try a new nail salon. I found them on Yelp and after reading some of the reviews, I made same-day appointment. I came in around 9:30am on a Sunday, I was their first client of the day. My first intention was to get a gel mani ($52) but ended up spending a bit more ($65) and got dip powder on my natural nails. My nail technician, Celine, did a fabulous job. She was nice, attentive and professional. All employees there are wearing uniforms and the whole place looks very clean and neat. They are very pricey in my opinion, but it's probably because of their location and the type of customers who often visit the salon. Not all customers get treated the same, the two customers (mother and her daughter) who came in after I did were offered a bottle of water while I was never offered something to drink. No judgment, it is what it is. I used to work in retail for many years and know how some of these places profile you by the way you look, how you talk, and what you are wearing. I have never given a bad review to any business. I have gone to Instabeauty plenty of times however the past two times have been horrible manicures received by the gentleman that is the owners partner. Paid for a full set of "hydrogel" or something like that that didn't last longer than 10 days before fully lifting. Then went back and gave it another try I received the another manicure from the owners partner which is likely why they are being so resistant to owning up to the fact that the application sucks . The other technicians are good. They are very expensive and refused to redo a manicure plus gel and kept saying they will only reapply the gel on my nails. Anyways a very unprofessional salon for the price they charge. I also saw nail clippings and dead skin scrapings where it should be sanitized and clean. read more

I think I found my LA nail salon! The website says appointment only, which I did make, but towards the end of my manicure people came in without appointments and they still accepted them. The atmosphere alone is very serene, peaceful. There were only 2 other clients when I was there so it was relaxing. You can tell they strive for the experience of the clients, not how many customers they can get in and out. I got there about 20mins early and they were able to take me early. When they sat me down, they offered me champagne, wine, water, or hot tea, which was nice. My tech Bao was so sweet and really good. He really paid attention to detail throughout my entire manicure, which if anyone knows me, knows I'm a perfectionist when it comes to getting my nails done so I have standards. He did a great job and took his time. Not at all were things rushed and you can tell they really want to make the client happy and satisfied with their nails. I got SNS french manicure, which did take about 2hours but again, I wasn't in a rush and neither was my nail tech. I'm sure if you were to get other type of manure like a normal gel or SNS it wouldn't be so long though. I didn't get a pedicure, but I they have the pedicure chairs with the tub and they were doing their pedicures in that, which was nice to see instead of buckets. Definitely come here! read more

My nails are sooo pretty! I have always wanted to splurge for a set of acrylics and having claws for Halloween seemed like the right time to go for it, and I couldn't be more pleased. The technician was very skilled. I've had bad experiences where I'm cut or hurt by nail techs, but mine was very gentle and kind. She recommended gel, which I appreciated since this is my first time doing something like this. Super methodical, clean, and extremely talented. I couldn't be happier. I came here for the location and reviews. I was thinking for the price point, location and reviews I would get an amazing service. The guy who did my French manicure couldn't have done it any faster. Felt like he was going at the speed of light. Never asked me what shape nails I want or if I even like the shape. Did uneven French lines and shaping of my nails. I was almost laughing at how bad they were. He clearly DID not care. One of my nails had cuticles on it still and was chunky. He painted right over it. There was no reason to rush... they didn't have a long wait of ppl. this was during the day time on a Wednesday. Clearly they don't care about quality or keeping business. I won't be coming up, which is shame. I don't mind paying top dollar and tipping very well as long as I get the quality. Staff also had a very unwelcoming and not super friendly demeanor. Not the spa environment I was looking for. Just a few more minutes of attention to detail and putting some care into it and you would've receive double the amount of tip and a repeat customer. Hey but how you deliver your service is up to you. After reading other reviews it seems like I may have gotten the same gentleman that many have complained about. To the owner- if you care about your business fix your staff. Bumping up a star because the owner did reach out offering to fix my nails. For the manicure, my nails were buffed down so thin that they now hurt and my nails started breaking the next day without any increased activity. For the pedicure, the technician cut deep down to the cuticle for both big toes even when I was visibly in pain and the manicure tech told him to ease up. 24 hours later my toes are very inflamed and hurt to walk on. I called the day after my services to speak to the manager, Anh Dang, and respectfully and calmly explained the situation. Instead of being apologetic and understanding, he told me the breakage was my fault, that his techs would never do that and that it's not possible to get an infection from a pedicure. GOOD: - Very clean, stylish furniture, good location - Efficient - Good nail shaping BAD: - HIGH price ($65 for dip manicure) BEFORE tip so you're looking at 70+ for just a dip manicure. - Not super friendly (minimal conversation) - Did not trim cuticles - Minimal dip color options (under 50 choices) - CRACKING POLISH The worst of all was that the polish was cracking day TWO of the manicure!! The other places I've been to, the polish doesn't even crack at all or not at least for a week or two. Day TWO I had cracks and now only 6 days later all of my nails have cracks in them. I was super excited to be able to go in for a much needed manicure and pedicure a couple weeks ago. The salon is amazing! Super clean and new, but what blew me away was the service. All the employees were so nice and friendly. They made me feel as comfortable as I could during my time there. They gave me tea and a hot towel as soon as I sat down, thought I was at some spa or something. They have a great and huge selection of regular polish and gel. I only came for a manicure/pedicure, but I did see that they offer skin treatments and eye lash extensions as well! As far as COVID, I felt pretty safe coming to this salon.
