We did not have a great experience here. The food took forever to make, and when we got the sandwich, there was only two slices of meat on each sandwich and it was all bread. We specifically asked for no onion, and of course they added onion to it. I do not recommend you eat here. I think Subway is better. It's a cool environment and ambience, but the food is not good. I grew up in Saginaw and my go-to sandwich shop would be the Intermission Deli on Bay and State St. I never knew there was a Bay City location until a few years back and I finally got around to trying it out this weekend. Overall, it is as delicious as the one in Saginaw, however has a different interior vibe and for my one visit, slightly less meat on the sub. The good news is that the Bay City location is open on Saturdays. Great place for a great sub! read more

Every time we are in town we get Intermission! Our favorites are the Cowboy and the Reuben but I don't think you can go wrong. read more

A stand-up spot to get a sub in Bay City that is supporting the local guys rather than big corporations. Sandwiches are a nice size, though sometimes the amount of meat is on the skimpy side. No complaints on the taste and I really like their chip selection. We had a vegetarian's delight (they forgot the sprouts) and the intermission delight, both were good. Service was decent, but nothing to call home about. Decor is lovely as well. I recommend picking up a sandwich here and eating it at Tri-City Brewing with some beers! read more

My wife and I stopped in while in the area shopping. Was really hoping for a true old school deli experience... Fresh breads, fresh meats, grilled Rubens and grilled pastrami sandwiches. Although a nice, clean place with friendly service, wasn't what we thought it would be. This was more like an independant Subway. My "overstuffed sub" had a 1/4" of meat on it. I ordered the #2 and garden veggie soup.i definitely want to go back and try some different things. definitely want to try the number 18. It seemed like a favorite. You can good a good, cheap homemade sub here. It's within walking distance of many hotels and the riverside. Everything they have is made homemade. I was able to get a 6" sandwich, a can of pop and a cup of soup for only $8 and it was all very good. They also have interesting local chips that I would like to try next time I come. The subs are decent but the Saginaw location is cheaper by a couple of bucks per sandwich and is better tasting which makes no sense as they are the same restaurant. Also, the employees at the Bay location literally never change their gloves which isn't very appealing, especially after watching them answer phones and handle money while simultaneously complaining about having laryngitis. read more

I've only been here a couple times because I'm new to the area, but I'll definitely be back many more times in the future. The soups are great, especially the cheese tortellini. broccoli cheese, and vegetable soups. I don't eat meat, but am told by the friends I went to lunch with that the other soups are all excellent as well. The veggie subs are great, but I substitute guacamole instead of the Italian dressing/oil they typically use. All the sandwiches are quite large for a reasonable price. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating each time I visted. UPDATE: I just recently had the tomato spinach soup. I am now hooked on this place any day they have this soup available! Good place to pick up a foot long sub for lunch, but they close by 4:00 in the afternoon. Subs will come in either 6 or 12 inches, with the 12 incher costing around $6.50. They have good service but it's usually high school or college aged kids working in there, and the owner kind of looks like an old hippie, but he's pretty cool. read more

This place is awesome!! Forget chain sub shops like Subway. Go there if you want garbage, go to Intermission Deli if you want a great sub! I've been eating there since I was a kid and it's just the best sandwich ever. To be fair though, I've only ever had the #19 Beef Eaters Delight. Except for one time that I was given the wrong sandwich. I didn't say anything though because after 30+ years, maybe I should have tried something different. It was good too but seriously...#19 is the way to go. (I'm a creature of habit, what do ya want from me?) The staff there changes a bit but the owner must know how to hire people because they are always very friendly and appear to be happy working there. And can make a mean sub. I do always feel better when the owner makes my sub though. 99% chance you'll like it no matter who makes it but if you get the boss man...rest easy my friends because you're about to eat some serious food. This is the best deli in Bay City. There is also a location in Saginaw. I used to live in Bay City and ate here often. Now whenever I come back I have to stop here for lunch. All of the meats are sliced fresh everyday and the bread is delicious. I ordered the Intermission Delight (ham, salami, Bologna, genoa, mortadella, capicolla, pastrami, roast beef & cheese on wheat bread. It was amazingly good! However my eyes were bigger than my stomach (I ordered the 12" but should have ordered the 6"). I was just too excited about how good this was going to be.
