Last night my friends and I seating at table 13 at 6:04 pm, we designed to go to El Tayta recommended by one of them. All I can tell you is "it was well worth it". Their Choros a la Chalaca, (mussels a la chalaca) was insane, spicy, healthy and delicious, with our Cristal beer and Pisco Sour.... My Lomo Saltado (sautéed beef slice with onions, tomatoes and fries with white rice was delicious. Our Jalea (deep fried fish seafood with yucca and onions) Papá a la Huancaina (boiled potatoes topped with a slightly spicy, rich and creamy cheese sauce) served at room temperature appetizer, delicious. Ordered twice (same items): Pulpo de la Parilla, Mariscos de la Parilla, Arros con Mariscos, Saltado (beef/onions/asked for no tomatoes/rice/potato fries) First time - wonderful - loved it! The only downside is that fries were soggy with sauce, but we didn't mind - the kids didn't eat any. Second time- next day: ordered all the same, but asked to substitute boiled Peruvian corn for those fries (those side dishes are the same price on the menu - were told no substitutions - fine, but for those prices - I don't quite understand, given both sides cost the same.) But fine. We ordered 2 more sides. What's not fine is that on the second time we got changed more (next day), got told prices changed (I don't see any changes to online menu, but fine), and we got seafood scampi instead of GRILLED seafood. Amazing food & incredible service. The restaurant is quaint and very modern. Menu is very large, perfect for people dining together who all like different things. We ordered the grilled octopus, the pollo saltado, grilled steak, and Greek salad. Grilled octopus was perfect, great texture, and served with potatoes and veggies in a red sauce. The pollo saltado was basically a chicken stir fry with onions and peppers served with rice and French fries- VERY good! The steak was cooked perfectly, also served with 2 sides. The portions were all very large. I would just suggest they change their Greek salad to include tomatoes and cucumber- otherwise it's just a bed of chopped lettuce with 2 olives & some cubes of feta cheese (not very good). Overall- staff is very friendly & food was great, with the exception of a Greek salad (which isn't even Peruvian so it's okay). read more

Been there twice and had the following: Ceviche de Pescado: traditional style and very good Chupe de Cameron: this is a chowder dish with dairy, rice, corn, cheese, and shrimp. Pescado encebollado: saucy fried fish with sautéed onions Roasted chicken: would come back for this again and again. We shared the Ceviche Seafood Mixed Trio and the Peruvian Grilled Seafood. Both were excellent. I was expecting the octopus to be bit on the tight side but it was very tender and flavorful. When our grilled seafood came we still had quite a bit of ceviche left. Our server recommended starting on the grilled Seafood while it was still hot and if we wanted a little extra flavor on the grilled seafood we could take the juice from the ceviche and pout it on the grilled seafood. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. It was super simple to make a reservation a couple of days before. I called and was immediately helped. When we got there, our table was ready for us (we were 18 people). The staff was absolutely amazing. I know it's not the easiest attending a large group, but they were so nice and did so great helping all of us. We were there to celebrate my mom's birthday so our waiter asked my sister and I to text him a couple of photos of my mom. We did, and he got my mom the best drink ever! Her photo was on the drink and it was absolutely amazing. She didn't even want to drink it! Haha. We were blown away by the detail provided by this restaurant. I honestly wish I had taken more pictures of the food. We all ordered a little bit of everything and it was all so delicious. The pricing is also pretty great! I only wish they had better drink specials, like buckets of beer and pitchers of pisco sour. I will definitely be coming back. Not a fan of rice personally, but this was seasoned very well and So much food that I had lunch the next day. Few days later, I needed to get my ceviche fix and they delivered! *pa-dam-pshhh* The seafood was fresh, perfectly done ceviche. My delivery guy recognized me and was super nice. And now, ordered the whole poached fish with seafood. The sweet delivery man knew me by my first name now..am I ashamed? naah! :) Holy wow. I'm from a part of the world where strip malls aren't usually associated with good eats -- but Sunny Isles turned that assumption on its head. El Tayta was one of several good restaurants we checked out during a fling in Sunny Isles (en route to Miami Beach), which happened to be located in a strip mall. I was a pig and ordered two ceviches, since I couldn't decide whether I wanted the pescado or camarones more, and didn't want to contend with calamari in the mixto. Both the pescado and camarones ceviches were solid traditional versions, served with choclo, cancha, sweet potatoes and husband bane (aka onions). They packed a great leche de tigre punch. This is what we tiger moms feed to our babies so they go to Yale when they grow up. It's true. Lomo saltado was tender and smokey, with a perfect amount of gravy to soak up with white rice. It came in a generous portion. I'd do this one again in a heartbeat. The only dish we weren't terribly fond of was the fried whole red snapper. The fish was huge and meaty, and came served with well made fried green plantains. We would've been impressed with its sheer size, but for the fact that it was incredibly fishy, well past its prime, and overcooked to the point of being leathery. At around $30, this was our most expensive and least delicious dish. We made a few halfhearted attempts to pick off some of of the meat, which could sort of be salvaged by a good dunking in the restaurant's good aji verde, but eventually gave up. I hate food waste and think it's a sin -- but even I couldn't bring myself to have our leftovers (most of the fish) wrapped up to go for later. We had more wins than losses, here, and the wins were good enough that we will probably be back next time we're in the area. read more

I had such a great lunch today, the weekend menu includes Chifa (Chinese cuisine at Peruvian style) It was amazingly flavorful and delicious, from now on that'll be my favorite Chifa. The first thing I didn't like was that they have lunch specials M-F and they said since it was Christmas (WHICH FELL ON A TUESDAY) they weren't going to honor the same price. Dumb. After they took our order, it took long for the food to come out. The food looked a lot better than it tasted. My noodles and meat were very bland which is crazy because Peruvian food is suppose to be VERY tasty. I even had to order a side of Huacaina sauce to pour all over my meal to make it taste like something. If that wasn't bad enough, our server never came back to check on us to even ask if we needed anything, another worker (lady) had to tell our server to refill our glasses with water. We stop to have "Desayuno Lurin" Lurin's breakfast. It was excellent. We had it before in Orlando and other places. This is by far the best we had. I am a bit disappointed of the hard time they give to serv ice animal. A sample of the dog blood was the only thing that they didn't ask. They did everything they could to dont let him in.
