What had happened was that I had bought a new laptop from LG (~9 months ago) and its' performance was just so weirdly slow from the time I brought it home. In particular, the proxy setting just would not turn off no matter how many times I disabled it. Plus, the PC performance was horrifically slow. Not a good sign and I did a lot of malware scans with no luck on finding any issue. Finally, I got fed up and, after a bit of research, I found Allstate. The guy at the repair shop was super nice and attentive to my observations. The end result was excellent - all the issues were fixed (proxy and computer speed) and my PC is as it should be - fast and efficient and it has been 3 months of excellent performance. Repair price was okay too. Total recommend.

I looked up local PC Repair spots and Allstates Computers had a very high rating and more importantly was actually open on the weekend unlike most of the other independent PC repair places I saw online. I came in without an appointment and John got right to work on helping me diagnose my problem. He tried a few tools to get a sense of what the problem could be, talked me through the various levels of repair that we could go down, and sent me home with an initial fix that hopefully solves it without me having to buy a whole new rig. All around great service and appreciate him taking the extra time to get me an answer then and there vs just having me drop it off and then having to wait for a response. If I do end up needing to upgrade to a new system, John said he also does custom PC assembly so know where I'll be going when the time comes.

This morning I went to QNE and so happy I did! Within 2 minutes the gentleman knew exactly what the problem was. A chip went bad. The thought of him opening up my computer had me so nervous fearing I could lose everything related to my small business. 5 minutes later computer fixed and everything intact. I also had them look at a weird thing my laptop was doing. They fixed that too. I was in and out in15 minutes. I expected to pay at least double what they charged me. I cannot recommend them high enough!!! You have a computer issue definitely going to Quick N' Easy... Their name says it all!! They are the best!

I know a bit about computers and knew it was probably…read moreone of three different parts that was faulty, but I didn't have spare components on hand to figure out which one myself; hoped they'd take a few hours and swap parts out until the issue stopped. I was told I would receive a call with an update the day after I brought it in. These guys had my PC for five days with no communication whatsoever. I can't get ahold of anyone over the phone, so I go in physically and ask what's up. They had misplaced my information and hadn't started working on the PC. Fine. I show them my info and leave them to it. Four more days pass. No call, no email. I go in again. What's up guys? They've eliminated one possible source of the problem, no dice. They act busy, tell me they'll call me with an update soon. For real this time, I guess. Two more days. I call them. Turns out they have been stuck and need my bitlocker password now, I'm happy to provide it and they tell me to wait for an email from them and then reply to it with the key. No problem. I wait for three hours before going over and hand-delivering it to them. They're working on eliminating a second possible source of the issue, and it's looking promising. Excellent. Before they close that evening I go in to see if it's solved, and I'm told that the yep, it's a faulty graphics card: they'd plugged in a different one and had no freezing issues. Great! All I need to do is take the PC home, get a new card, and we're good. I pay them $35 and I'm on my way. Though as I'm watching them go to unhook their test card, I notice that their test monitor definitely looks frozen. But they're the experts. Get home. Before I drop $800 on a new card, my spidey sense tingles, and I remember I do have an old graphics card on hand. Put it in my machine, just to see. Still freezes. So nearly two weeks went by between when I brought them my PC and when they incorrectly told me what the issue was. They are probably great if you don't know how to change your facebook password, but I would absolutely not take your stuff to them if you have anything more serious than that. Unless you like babysitting grown men, in which case you can probably still find a better way to get your fix.

The first people I called were the folks affiliated with the big box electronic store. Between their nickel and dime fees, and a 7 to 10 day wait, I decided they weren't the right ones to help me. I then started my research using Yelp, and contacted the repair business located in Santa Monica that received great reviews and recommendations by other Yelpers. I spoke to the fellow who was mentioned in the reviews, and he was a very nice and pleasant fellow. He gave me directions to their office, and I went the following day. While what I discovered may not bother or be an issue for most people, I found out that their office is a shared suite with several other companies, which is not the problem, but I did have an issue when I was told that the repairs were done at another facility, and that a 3rd party courier service would take custody of my hardware and take it to the mystery location to be fixed, then courier them back. I thanked the generic receptionist, collected my equipment and left. I went back to Yelp and found Swift Chip. After speaking with Jenna, their service coordinator, who told me that all repairs were conducted on site, and that their company was insured and bonded, I took my equipment to their offices in Santa Monica. I was greeted by the two "David's" who impressed me right away. You know your are in the right computer repair place when their technicians actually get excited about fixing your virus ridden computer(s). Well, I received a call the next morning telling me that my laptop was already repaired and ready for pickup, but my desktop was in intensive care. My desktop was so infected, it actually infected one of Swift Chip's repair department computers while being "scrubbed" clean. But after 2 days in intensive care, it was also done and ready for pickup. I was so impressed with the service, I had them add more RAM after it was repaired. Both computers are running better than the day I bought them. Obviously, I highly recommend using Swift Chip for any computer problems you may encounter, as well as any hardware upgrades you may desire doing. Thank you Swift Chip staff, I couldn't be happier with your service. Thank you David and David. Thank you Jenna, and thank you Michael, Victor, Ken, and Scott.
