Thi seems like a good neighborhood sushi restaurant. Typical rolls. One observation, every roll has cucumber.

Usually this place is a solid 4 stars. Fresh fish, nicely constructed rolls with proper rice to fish ratio, and good flavor. However tonight we ordered take out and asked for all the sauces to be put on the side. Instead of actually putting each of the sauces for each roll on the side, up to 3 different sauces were all put into the same small ramekin. For example, with the monkey brain we received one container with eel sauce, spicy mayo, and sriracha instead of 3 containers, like any properly trained sushi pro would do. Uncool move to pull on your regulars. Stop being lazy. Thanks. read more

Good food. Horrible service This was the second time we have dined at Irashai Sushi in West Seattle. The last time we went we thought the food was good and planned on coming back. My husband is Japanese so he knows his stuff, and he was impressed by the food. Tonight we needed a place to go after seeing that the Pho place my 4 year old wanted to go to, was closed. No biggie, we decided just to go to Irashai instead. Everything started out fine, we were brought water and tea and miso soup, and we put in our order for appetizers. With a 4 year old and 20 month old, we always order something right away so that food comes and they can start eating. We didn't see our waiter for a while (one waiter and two chefs that we could see) and so finally - about 20 minutes after ordering our appetizers, I got up to go and find out about our food, only to see our waiter in the back, pulling our tempera out of the fryer. He brought that and our other appetizers, and less than 10 minutes later we had the rest of our food. The food was good but the service was horrible. There were not that many people in the restaurant and no one was getting served. We saw a mother and daughter walk out because the waiter hadn't even been to his table. All this time we could see on the back counter, they were making take-out orders and we saw an Uber Eats driver come and pick up orders. They were unable to take care of the 4 tables of people in the restaurant because they were too busy working on take-out orders. On their menus is a small column of desserts. On there is an orange made into a bear. My 4 year old wanted one and I told her we would order after we got our food. She had mentioned to the waiter after seeing the menu that she wanted one and he had said "later". So as we are eating out dinner we caught his attention and we asked about the orange bear. He told us they were too busy with their takeout orders to do one. I then had to try and explain to my 4 year old why this man wouldn't bring her the orange bear. "Why wouldn't he bring it mommy?" The food that we got was good but the service was so bad that I gave a $1 tip and left a note explaining why and saying that we will not be back. If you aren't able to take care of the people in your restaurant and do take-out orders, then you shouldn't be doing take-out. You can't neglect the people in your restaurant, otherwise you won't have a restaurant much longer. Too bad, since the food there is good and we would go back. Not anymore. read more

Our service was ok but the food was not. We ordered some basic rolls and they tasted very generic and cheap. The bolgogi flavor was not great and it came with a tiny cup of rice, and they wanted to charge extra for more. The best item was the chicken teriyaki but again had a tiny cup of rice. read more

New sushi spot in the Admiral Junction. The service is great, but some of the options are a bit hit or miss. The rolls seem a bit overdone which causes most of the fancy ones to fall apart rather quickly. Also the rice is warmer than any other rice I've ever had at a sushi spot. I have a feeling this is why the rolls will sometimes fall apart upon the touch. Also the warm rice + raw fish combo doesn't work as I feel in some instances it actually cooks the fish making it taste weird. Probably won't be back until that's improved upon. Happened to find this place. We were going to eat across the street but thought we would give it a try. So good! Service was good and I had a dynamite roll and spicy tuna. The dynamite was amazing the $6 spicy tuna was solid. For west Seattle sushi this was very good. Sushi lovers in west Seattle should give it a try! This is a local place. Not big but nice inside. This place is always closed at random hours of the day. Makes it very hard to remain loyal whenever I'm craving sushi! When it IS open, and I get to order takeout, it's not bad. They really need to update their hours online and be consistent with their hours of operation. read more

My family has been raving about this place so I got a takeout chirashi bowl thinking it would be the best way to try their fresh fish outside of special rolls. I got it home to find that the salad in between the sashimi and bed of rice was covered in dressing! It says nothing about this on the menu, in fact I have never had a chirashi bowl with sauce at all. I am lactose intolerant and it looked like a cream based sauce so I had to deconstruct the whole bowl, almost impossible to scrape the dressing off the sashimi. Please let your customers know exactly what they are ordering because I fear that even if it were an egg based sauce, egg allergies are prominent as well! read more

Nice cozy sushi place in Admiral. Great service! Ordered the gyoza and Irashai roll. Gyoza was very well priced at only $4. The sushi seemed a bit pricey for the quality (good not great), but par for the area. Service size was generous however and the presentation was good. Came by with a friend and service was very friendly as soon as we walked in with the chef and waitress greeting us. The prices were all very reasonable for a sushi place, especially for the quality of fish we got. My friend had the baked yellowtail roll and I had the chirashi. Chirashi especially had huge cuts of fish and all very fresh- we both left very full! The baked roll was really unique as both of us hadn't tried a baked roll before and delicious with just the right amount of sauce on top. I never like to write these reviews. The family? that runs this place seems nice enough. As of this writing, there are 111 reviews for 4.0 stars, and since I have no understanding of how that is even possible, I will present only the facts; 1. We waited for 90 minutes to get 8 pieces of nigiri and 1 tekkamaki roll. 2. The salmon had either a fish scale or a bone in it. 3. The yellowtail was tough and very dark in color, almost bordering on tuna. 4. The tuna in the maguro was fishy tasting and tough. 5. The tuna in the tekkamaki also tasted fishy. 6. The tuna in the seared tuna, I didnt even bother tasting it. The "sear" had no color and looked steamed. 7. Not a single piece of sushi was seasoned with soy sauce or wasabi. 8. The nigiri's were all poorly formed and the fish cut very sloppy 9. The tekkamaki roll was formed OK 10. Every single bite of sushi I tasted eventually ended up in my napkin. 11. No ginger or wasabi was on the plate of sushi. 12. The restaurant is extremely clean and tidy. Overall, the family was nice enough and appolegetic about the wait. They did bring edamame about 60 minutes into our wait to make up for it. Lots of to-go orders were going out, but everyone in the restaurant was sitting waiting. Two other tables got up and left. We had high hopes but the low quality, underwhelming food and enormously long wait really ruined our meal. To be transparent, we placed an order for pick-up, were quoted 30-45 minutes and ended up waiting an extra 30 min for our food to be ready. On top of that, the chicken teriyaki we ordered that was to be warm/hot was cold and so was the gyoza. The sunomono salad was literally what you can buy from Costco, and it was such a slap in the face, meager portion. The two rolls we ordered, the El Dorado and Spicy Tuna were mediocre and something you could pick up at the grocery store. The somewhat shining star would have to be the Spice Ponzu Yellowtail. Unfortunate to have to rate it low since the staff were kind and courteous but for what you pay and what you get, it was too hard to overlook. And it was pretty clear there were a lot of other folks in a similar boat, waiting...waiting...waiting...and not even a good meal to make up for it. read more

This place had delicious sushi! My family and I came here to celebrate my bother's birthday, and I was surprised by the beautiful presentation and tasty sauces. The menu has tons of special options on it that aren't really offered by any other sushi establishments I have dined at, and all of the fish was tasty and well paired with house sauces. So happy that this sushi restaurant opened in West Seattle. Cute little place but rolls of all types are available. For sushi plates, my family ordered chirashi, nigiri including salmon and yellow tail, red dragon roll, vegas roll, and mango salmon roll. The fish here is incredibly fresh. The sauces they put on top of rolls are perfect combination of sweet and spicy! I also couldn't believe the generous serving size. For my niece who is not a big fan of sushi, we ordered bulgogi, marinated sliced beef dish. I ended up having more beef than her since the meat was very tender and tasty. The service was great and fast. The decorations on our plates and friendly staff made us feel so special. All in all a great experience. We will definitely be back! read more

I wish the place was bigger, more than half the time I visit there are no open seats and no place to wait besides going outside. Could use a makeover/modern upgrade but the food speaks for itself. Went here for a friends birthday dinner and they treated all 6 of us like kings. I ordered the tuna and salmon sushi (2 piece nigiri, so 4 pieces total) salmon was high quality and I know salmon as I commercial fish in Alaska, also the tuna was very good, you could tell it was not dyed in color and had the texture and not too fishy flavor you're looking for. We also got 2 rolls , one came with an entire salad in the middle, don't remember the name though. The presentation of the food was delectable and they brought the birthday girl a plate with fruit that was in the shape of a bear, it was very cool and unexpected gesture as it was only briefly mentioned it was someone's birthday when asked why we had came in, we weren't expecting it and it was a nice surprise.
