I really like the Iron Age in Catonsville, but the quality of their DC location is much worse. Cuts of meat were much fattier and of poorer quality, staff did not service/clean the cooking grate when it started to get gunky, and the flavors were just ok. Our server was very attentive and got our orders out quickly, including refills of rice and salad, and was very kind, but overall I felt that the quality of the food did not match my previous experiences with the restaurant. read more

After hearing about Iron Age in the DC suburbs and missing Korean BBQ, I finally made it to their DC location and had no regrets. It was way better than Honey Pig - first, it's all you can eat for $25 if you go for dinner, which means unlimited meat dishes and side dishes. We didn't have a reservation but we only had to wait for 5-6 minutes. After getting our temperature checked with a handheld rapid thermometer and applied hand sanitizer, we were allowed inside and seated social distancing style. Loved these COVID safety protocols! Now on to the food - the meat was diverse and generous, everything from pork belly and seafood to soy and lemon chicken to bulgogi and again, UNLIMITED. You scan their QR code with your phone and order from there. Everything tasted so good and well seasoned and marinated. Our waiter was very attentive and we never felt rushed - we stayed for over 1 hour and ate A LOT. The decor was lit and looked more like a club than a Korean BBQ restaurant. came here for dinner for my friend's bday. no reservations which sucked because we had to come , put our name down, wait over an hour and half, and then ended up getting separated because our party was too big (14 people). they may be "cheap" for AYCE dinner ($27) but you only have a 90 minutes to eat and if your party is big, you get slapped with a 20% gratuity on top. for the 4 people group we got split up with, we ended up paying over $40 because of the food, tax, gratitude and a soju bottle ($13/bottle). the meat was fine - nothing amazing - limited selection. we got the brisket, pork belly & the iron age steak. all not bad at all, definitely filling. great staff - nico was great. overall, if the wait isn't bad, definitely recommend! read more

I've previously only visited the Rockville location pre-COVID when the wait was between 1-2 hours. I came here around 10pm on a Saturday night and was seated immediately. Being from Flushing, Queens where we have great Korean food and AYCE KBBQ, my boyfriend and I were nervous that our Korean food cravings were would not be fulfilled here and even considered driving down to Annandale for Korean food. BUT we were both pleasantly surprised. We had about a 30 minute wait when we got there (no reservations, it was quite busy for a Tuesday night at 8 PM) but it went by quickly. You are only able to order two servings of meat at a time, but Nico our server was wonderful and he was so attentive even though he had so many tables to take care of. The meat quality was surprisingly good and the portions were good as well. My personal favorite was the spicy pork steak. Just FYI, they don't have the typical stews that come with Korean BBQ. This location just opened a couple months ago. I've been here about 6 times now, and definitely worth coming back every time. Since moving to DC, I've been wanting to find a great KBBQ joint equivalent to NoVa and MD. For $25 all you can eat, can't get much better for this price in DC. The atmosphere is similar to the newer Iron Age locations with the club-like atmosphere. Although Catonsville and Annandale are superior to this location in terms of size and menu variety, this location has decent service and is extremely clean. Definitely would recommend if you can't drive to Virginia or want decent Korean food in DC. read more

everything was just average but the server had the worst stank face possible, we stayed till 11:30 and honestly will never come back to this spot. I didn't see his name but there was a Skinny Black server with long dreads tied up and he kept on staring at my friends breast everytime he walked by and he walked by so often i lost my appetite. i'm not sure what made him think it was ok but i almost went up to management and asked for camera footage so i can try to press charges for sexual harassment. Only reason i didn't was because i had plans after but i'm regretting that now as he is probably making someone else very uncomfortable as well. He ruined the entire experience and i can only imagine how much he does this with out comfortable he looked doing it. my advice to management is to fire him asap before you get the police in your building cuffing him infront of guest. read more

I would say that Korean BBQ is my expertise. I'm from NY and went frequently growing up and lived in Koreatown in LA, so I've been to some really great spots. I would say for DC this is pretty good Korean BBQ. The meat quality is alright, the service is pretty good, and the selection of drinks is also good. I would go back. First time at a Korean BBQ restaurant and while my friends and I were instantly turned off by the disclosure of the 90 min max + overage fee, we apprehensively proceeded. The waitress was kind and helpful. The beef selections were good and flavorful. I wouldn't recommend the chicken, it takes too long too cook and you don't want to risk salmonella poisoning. Stay away from the shrimp also! They tell you it comes with the feet and head. My friends had a hard time eating them and said they were mushy. The rice and salad were tasty. The sauces they provided were a great addition. No bartender on staff. They provided shots to accompany any drink you may want to add it to. I guess they don't want patrons to get wasted. The waitress helped with the cooking and cutting up of the meats and distribution. Once we told her we were done eating, she wasted no time in bringing over the check. The hostess took the cards & ran them. Once we hit the 90 min mark, we got the boot. Overall we had a good time but I probably won't go back to this location. Our party of 5 went in on a Sunday afternoon and were told we could only eat for 90 min. It didn't seem like a problem since the place was nearly empty. We got seated at a large table that had 2 grills. One of our friends did not eat pork for religious reasons so we asked them if we could fire up two grills. The employee told us that their policy was that we needed 7 people in order to use two grills. They further explained that even if our friend had a food allergy, their policy still remained the same and we would have to just make it work. We explained that with only 90 minutes and someone with dietary needs, there's no way the five of us can finish a meal. We suggested that they just break us into two parties but they told us then we would have to be seated separately at two small tables. Finally, the employee went to speak to a manager, but after several minutes we did not receive any updates. Up to the point we walked out of the store, they were not even concerned and did not try to work with us at all, even after we tried to offer thema solution. I don't know of any other restaurants that make you pay all that money just to inconvenience yourself and walk out hungry. read more

So, I've been here for couple times these past months because it's the closet KBBQ. However, since the first time I was not satisfied with their foods and slow service. Second, third and fourth were okay. Food was still not satisfied; however, servers were very friendly and nice. The third time was the most happiest time with the server. This time, the host were very rude and ask me such an uneducated questions! I had some stuff such as Clothes hangers that i just bought from Target. We kindly asked if we can bring it inside (knowing that the answer will be no and the most is leaving them at the waiting area, where the restaurant will not be liable for it)! FINALLY! DC gets a true kbbq spot and you no longer have to trek to Virginia for real kbbq. After visiting Gogi Yogi in Shaw I was sad to see overpriced boojie kbbq after spending years in LA going to Koreatown and getting all you can't eat for $15. This places brings back that authentic kbbq feel with endless diverse meats and excellent service for a great price. And can I say the KPOP in the background is such a nice touch!! First timers make sure to get the brisket and pork belly to start, followed by the bulgogi, can't go wrong with these meats. Also real kbbq goers know that often times you cook the meat yourself. Ignore bad reviews about the servers not flipping meat enough. They are brand new and honestly it's fun to cook the meat yourself and how you like it. I've lived in Columbia heights for many years . I've seen many businesses there at that location and waited excitedly to go there to eat . maybe the greeter was having a bad day . He looked like he didn't want to be there, the only time he came around was to see if we needed change our food, he did not check up and ask us if everything was okay but towards the end. He was joking around with the host when our fire stared to flame and we didn't know how to lower the fire. Omg so good! Great for dinner with friends or family. Korean bbq with multiple options, sauces and sides, and they are open until later. We went on a Tuesday night, there was no wait and social distance was being observed. Hands were sanitized at the door by a staff member and temperature taken. They are not stingy simply ask for what you'd like and they bring it in rounds. There's enough options to fill you up even if you don't eat pork which is great. It's really a great value. I first started eating kbbq in Koreatown in LA. I was sad when I moved to DC and there was no reasonably priced all you can eat Kbbq option in DC proper. Thankfully this place has come along. We were party of 5 , and we were very disappointed. Overall the taste of the food were good, but the way they served the food was very weird as they called themselves as all you can eat!! We were 5 ppl the side dishes came in a tiny bowls only one each for 5 ppl on the tables, we can't orders more than 2 bowl of rices. The meat will not served you if you're not finished the plate they served you even it wasn't the same kind of meat. On that night we order every bbq on the menu 1 of each, we ended up with only 3 o 4 menus. It wasn't they served a big portion, but they served only meat at the time. We can't request more until they feel like they wants to bring it out. The hosts (man and lady) weren't friendly as they should be as host for 1st impression when you stepped into the restaurant. The server did a good job, but I can feel how loaded of their work, cuz of the stupid policies for table service. They were always walking running around to do their best service I didn't blamed at this point. Message to the owner if you're not being a generous person, you shouldn't open all you can eat cuz you not allowed your customers eat the way that they want and if you don't want to waste your food just make it smaller portions that's it or just open a la cart and let customers eat what they order. There were three of us that came for some awesome korean barbeque. We arrived at a fairly late time, right around 3:45 and surprisingly the place was bustling with customers. Nevertheless, there was plenty of seating options available, and we were seated right away. Since we came in after 2:30pm, only the dinner options were available to us. I decided to order something that I had never tried before called the beef bulgogi and I also chose the iron age salad as a side dish. The salad included lettuce, carrots, cabboge, and their special salad dressing. Al of us ordered the salad first which came to our table within five minutes. This salad definitely had a different taste, and I believe that the salad dressing made all of the difference. Not soon after the beef bolgogi main entre was served to me. It was pretty wow! Although I think that the next time that I come here Is will go with what I'm familiar with which is the beef brisket.
