Dr. David Kim is a fantastic dentist and he's the best one I've ever had. Late last year I moved into the area and needed a new dentist. When I found Dr. Kim's office, I was barely chewing with one side of my mouth because of tooth sensitivity. Dr. Kim fixed that completely for me! I also really appreciated that he took the time to give me a initial status report of the condition of my teeth - including any potential problem areas - on my first visit. Since I was new to the area, it meant a lot to me to feel I found a good place to go near my new home. I'm not one to be afraid of dentists, but if you are, I highly recommend Dr. Kim because he has a calming personality that puts you at ease. He's gentle when working on your teeth, yet efficient and gets the job done well too. It's a rare combination of skill and great bedside manner that makes for a perfect dentist. I actually look forward to going for my checkups because I know I will be taken care of and can trust what he says if there's ever a problem. I went for a normal check-up and cleaning... I was stoked when Dr.Kim told me I didn't have any cavities. The next day the left upper part of mouth was hurting and I thought that was just because I haven't gotten my teeth cleaned in awhile. I also noticed he nicked a tooth but it wasn't too bad and could be filed down. The third day a huge piece of my TOOTH FALLS OFF! I was so sad and called the Irvine Lake Dental office back for an appointment to see what had happened and to get a fill. I told Dr.Kim what happened and he started laughing and lied as told me it had fallen out because I had a cavity when he originally told me I didn't have any. Due to him laughing and lying I did not feel comfortable getting anymore work done on my teeth by him or anyone at this office. Super bummed this happened and I'll now have to get my tooth filled for the rest of my life due to Dr.Kim's horrible mistake that he couldn't own up to. read more

I love sugary foods, but I was not blessed with strong enamel. As a result, I've spent countless hours and great amount of money on dental care. I encountered dentists who didn't care about my oral health, and I also had dentists who pushed for somewhat unnecessary and expensive treatments. My faith in dentists has been extremely low until I started visiting this office. At this office, both dentists always answer all the questions I had, and I've always felt that they genuinely cared about my oral health. The prices are reasonable, and the equipment is very modern. I also love the fact that this office has not had a single health/fraud/malpractice issue (according to the Dental Board of CA), and the office is always clean/sanitary. I had my first appointment here this morning and it was one of the most positive dentist experiences in my life! I hadn't been to the dentist in about 2 years, so I was really nervous they were going to scold me for that. They didn't even bring it up though. Everyone was very friendly and the dentist explained to me what he was doing, what the purpose of each tool was, etc, which I really appreciated. Also, I actually got lost on my way there due to the construction happening in this complex, so I was about 15 minutes late, but they were super nice about it and weren't upset at all that I was late. I found Irvine lake dental through yelp. I'm so happy with all my experiences here. Everyone is gentle and kind and it's the same every time I'm there. Scheduling is very easy and accommodating and they will remind you of your appointments. You ladies are awesome! Dr. David Kim had to extract my tooth and he did a great job. He was so thorough, made sure I knew what was being done, made sure I was comfortable, and the whole thing was so pain free. Oh yeah, I freakin love the x ray machine there. It's so cool and high tech!! You will see what I mean when you see and experience it. I've had horrible experiences at dental offices before. I've had a root canal done horribly wrong. The dentist was on the phone convincing another patient to wait for her at her other location while she was working on my root canal. She was rushing and did a horrible job, hence the extracting of the tooth. She also charged my insurance for more than the work done. I seriously get anxiety whenever I go to a dentist. I've been going to Lake Dental for over 3 years and I am thankful for my friend who referred me to here. Dr. David Kim has extremely dexterous hands. I usually hate anesthetic shots, because even after the numbing gel, I can still feel the needle and the injection coming into my mouth. But, with him, I feel some pulls and tugs, and with a little pressure on my gum, it's over! One time, I had an emergency visit for my son on a Saturday because his regular pedodontist was not available. Dr. Kim stayed extra hour treating my child. My son is ultra sensitive and he literally cried and screamed when he saw a regular dentist, but Dr. Kim was so good that he didn't complain as much. I was also impressed with his willingness to stay extra hour to care for a patient. When I had to see Dr. Hak Kim, because Dr. David's schedule was full, I noticed how both dentists were skillful and kind. I like the front desk staff as well. Forgot to check in yesterday I'm so mad at myself. Anyway yelpers this is the place to go! I went there for a consultation on getting my wisdom teeth removed and ended up deciding to get the procedure done that same day. The dentist was very patient and made sure I was comfortable, even stopped several times to give me more numbing medicine as I could still fill the pain. Overall I had a great experience. The dentist made sure to explain everything clearly and I didn't feel rushed even though I was a little late to my appointment. The staff was very friendly and the facility is clean and comfortable. Another great visit.. Because of a schedule conflict, I made the mistake of visiting a different dental office. After visiting a different office, I realized why I should not trust my oral health with anyone else than Dr. Kim. The reasons are as follows: 1. Cleanliness - this office is well maintained. Other office made me feel like I was waiting at a local greyhound bus stop, but this place is actually clean and feels sanitary. 2. Honesty- I've always felt that Dr. Kim's prices are fair and reasonable. In general, dental care can be expensive, but I feel confidant that I'm not being ripped off by Dr. Kim. There's another office near by that has "consultants," who will constantly call and bother patients for treatments. After a few sales phone calls, I felt like I was purchasing a car. It's likely that these consultants are putting their financial interests in front of the patient's dental/medical well-being, and I'm relieved at the fact that Dr. Kim doesn't utilize any pushy sales tactics. 3. Competence - a basic background check showed that this office has not had any malpractice or insurance fraud claims. Overall, honest and competent dental care at reasonable prices. read more

Damn. I didn't really want to write a review because I like having a good dentist to myself. Dr. Kim has been the best dentist I've seen in the Irvine area. At other places, it might be normal to wait 15 to 45 minutes before you're seen, but I've never had to wait here. Dr. Kim is often at the front desk to greet me, and when we walk back to the dental chair I see my chart has already been pulled up on the computer screen. Dr. Kim then talks me through the process. This is the best part, because I really do appreciate when someone talks me through the process and explains what I should expect from the procedure. Dr. Kim also takes before and after shots of my teeth, which is nice because sometimes I imagine that dentist are in my mouth messing around just to make a few extra bucks. Dr. Kim then numbs my mouth, we talk about the NBA or life in Irvine, and then he gets to work. I'm usually in and out in under 45 minutes. read more

Dr. Kim (the younger one) was my dentist for two years, and I had a pretty pleasant experience coming to him as a patient. I felt (and still do feel) that he and his father are honest dentists, and that can be hard to find! However, I moved out of the area recently and my husband is a dentist, so I started going to him. On the most recent x-rays I took (and upon further examination of my actual teeth), my husband noticed that I have 3 cavities, and 2 of them are quite deep! I asked Irvine Lake Dental to send me the x-rays of my teeth from around June 2016, and when my husband looked at them, the two deep cavities were already on my teeth at that time. It's a little disappointing that Dr. Kim didn't notice these cavities earlier because now they are deep and very close to my pulp. If he had noticed earlier and treated my cavities earlier, it would not have come to this point where I may possibly have to get a root canal. That is my one qualm with this office. read more

Our family has been going to this office for the past three years. The level of care, expertise and professionalism is exceptional. We've had all forms of dental work done, from regular cleaning to fillings, deep cleaning, root canal and wisdom tooth removal. Recently, my wife went to see another dentist while traveling due to pain, and the dentist suggested that she go see a specialist due to the alignment of her wisdom tooth.
