Most ridiculous hotel I've ever stayed at. Not sure if this applies to all California hotels but I am APPALLED at how much they rip you off here. Pricing - way WAY over priced. They charge you $22 TO PARK. What the actual f. In addition, they also charge you $10 FOR INTERNET. Again, what the actual f. Also no complimentary anything. Not internet, not breakfast, NOTHING. What in gods name am I paying $22 to park for? Atmosphere - if you stay in the lower level floors you WILL hear noise from the pool. Guaranteed. Customer Service - had to go down to the front desk TWICE because the key wouldnt work, and the handle was BROKEN. Yet instead of coming up here to examine, they offered to send up a technician to fix it. I dont have time to wait for someone to fix the door while they are charging me to park! (0-30 mins is free) Time is ticking!! In the end I had to ask for a new room because that was NOT okay Interior Design - sure it looks nice but its only to lure you into the money sucking trap that they run If there are any other hotel choices, AVOID THIS ONE. Especially if you dont wanna spend about $200 a night in total with nothing complimentary. If i could give this - stars, I would. read more

LOVE the remodel. My room was amazingly comfortable and modern. The lobby bar is fun and quite reasonably priced for a hotel bar. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and the service was very quick. I told them I was in a hurry and they had my food out in a few minutes and had me on my way in plenty of time. Looks like all other Marriott locations (red, yellow, white). Renovations seem to be superficial. Beds are high and plush. Pillows are hit or miss (my neck hurt throughout). TVs are on the smaller side, but on the side of the drawer stand, theres a lot of inputs (HDMI, video in, etc) - good to entertain families I suppose. Rooms get a bit stuffy and super dry (no humidifiers, bring your own). Bathroom is on the smaller side and do not have vent fans to turn on. Gets quite stuffy after a hot shower. Mini fridge was hidden inside the drawer stand and was really weird - started off at 37F when we found it one night, then it was up to 53F in the AM. Called front desk but they never sent maintenance to check it out (maybe after we checked out). In the main entrance way, there are water containers with strawberry-infused water and pineapple-infused water (this probably varies by season). Very light, but refreshing no less. No free wifi. read more

I live in nearby Irvine, CA and I have so-so feelings about the Irvine Marriott. The renovation was a great one, however, the rooms are a still a little iffy. The renovation of the rooms was a little strange--they now feel sterile but, dirty at the same time. This is a problem for someone who might come here on long term business travel or have to stay over night here for several nights in a row. read more

This is the second time I have visited the Irvine Marriott and neither time did I actually stay at the hotel. The first visit was for a friends wedding after party since the Wedding Party was staying here. We utilized the bar and pool area on the first floor near the lobby. The bar tenders were extremely friendly and the libations were very tasty. The pool area was very well maintained as well. The second time was for Mark Yuziaks adult hypnotist show which was in the meeting rooms. The area around the meeting rooms were well lit and very clean. The meeting rooms are very spacious and well maintained. Both times the staff members we encountered were super friendly and joked around with us. The reason for three stars is the parking which is pricy and the structure in the rear of the hotel was a giant cluster f*** as there were quite a few people leaving. It took us over 30 minutes to exit the structure. I am sure I will visit again and perhaps next time I'll actually stay! read more

I met a couple of high school friends for a little reunion. I love the lobby! Very inviting and modern at the same time. It's open and spacious with nice homey touches here and there. I love the beach cruiser near the entrance and the pedal plane to the side. We hung out in the bar, talking, sipping cocktails and eating. Our server was so cool. She took care of us by supplying us with water, recommending drinks and bringing our food. An extra nice touch, she brought a little glass of water for the gardenia my friend brought in. When we asked if she'd take our photo, she insisted we place ourselves in a spot that served to frame our pic perfectly. read more

Ok. To start. This Marriott is really convenient to the SNA airport. Very very convenient. They have a shuttle that runs on the 15 and 45 of the hour to the airport for free, which is also convenient. The lobby - very nicely decorated and modern. The lobby restaurant - is pretty good. However, the service is very slow. I ordered a cobb salad - took over 45 mins for myself and two others to receive our lunch. They have these "buttons" in the middle of the table to call the server - which is nice and all - but it seems to have left the server to never check on the table. However, opens to a cool patio and the pool. Very nice setting. Rooms - well, the lobby has been updated. The rooms have not. They aren't bad by any means - just don't match the decor of the lobby. Plus side - service was good for the bell desk, drivers, etc. I was fortunate enough to have an awesome someone help me out with a ride to a local place to pick up some documents - which was a nice service since I didn't rent a car. Otherwise the service was ok. Overall, a good place to stay. I would recommend it. Very convenient. read more

I booked this hotel via Travelocity. I decided to spend a few dollars more to get a king bed. Personally, I do not like staying in a double unless I'm traveling for leisure with a group of friends. Despite my pre-paid booking, I was still placed in a double. Apparently all of the kings were taken due to an event in the hotel. I was informed that even though I book a king via Travelocity, I am still not guaranteed a chosen room because the booking was from a third party site. I find that unfair, especially since I paid more than I should for a room that I didn't even get. This hotel is in a prime location and 90% of the people that check in are in town for business. It is one of the cleaner hotels I've stayed at. However, maybe because I've been spoiled with other hotels. I am not impressed with the shower/tub nor with the selection of bathroom products. I can say that the rooms here are comfortable, clean, and there usually is a piece of gold chocolate laying on the nightstand. Minus the chocolate, I guess that is the only thing that matters. It was a good place for business travelers like myself. Nice lobby area and restaurant! They also have a Starbucks inside for caffeine lovers. The room was nice, but the decor was a little outdated. There's also minor cracks on the bathroom door from possible water stains and residue on the mirrors/walls/sheets. Overall, it was a good stay. I stayed here for 4 nights this past week for meetings at my companies office next door to the hotel. For the price they charge for rooms and the fact that it is a Marriott I was surprised at how dated this hotel is. The lobby and certainly the rooms are at least 10 years past due for a remodel. The rooms furniture was from the Clintonian era and there weren't convenient plugs near the bed like there should be in a more modern hotel. I believe it was $18 a day to park, and you don't have any other parking option. The wi-fi was $12 or $13 a day. Keep both of those charges in mind if you are driving and plan on using the wi-fi when you compare room rates to other properties in area. It adds up! The one plus was that it is very close to John Wayne Airport. You could walk there if you had to. read more

This score is for hotels for business travelers. Over the course of a year and a half my boyfriend and I stayed in four of the hotels in this area for business. We stayed at: Hilton at John Wayne, Irvine Marriott, Hyatt Regency Newport Beach, and Westin Costa Mesa. We stayed at the Marriott for about three months. It was probably our #2 or #3. Pros: Our favorite part was the lounge that was on the executive level floor (or a name something like that) of the hotel. Each morning there was free breakfast for rewards members. The breakfast included bacon, eggs, oatmeal, toast, and more. It was self serve. In the evenings they had appetizers but honestly it almost always was substantial enough for dinner. They had things like chicken skewers, different pastas, cheese and other snacks. It was also self serve. Later in the evening they had several desserts and an honor bar with wine. They also had water in the rooms and free wifi for rewards members. The rooms were plenty big, and the beds were nice. The rooms at the Westin were bigger and maybe more updated but it was not a huge difference. The parking lot was about a hundred yards from the entrance. Cons: The hotel is a little dated. Nothing extreme but not as updated as the Westin. It is near the highway but not directly on an exit so this can add to your commute. It is about 5 minutes from the airport. I feel bad to those who stayed here prior to the renovation, but my two night stay was extremely pleasant! This was a beautiful, clean, and modern Marriott. I love love love the beds and pillows. I usually don't sleep well in hotels but this place was great! The staff was extremely sweet and friendly! We stayed at the hotel as we had an early flight out of John Wayne Airport. Hotel has a shuttle service to and from the airport which is a short 10 minute or less trip. The lobby and lounge areas are open and contemporary and we found the ambience relaxing and casual. We were greeted by a friendly desk staffer who was knowledgeable about the property and accommodating to our requests. Our room was immaculate and the bed was super comfortable. Hallways were clean and smelled fresh as was the lobby. We have family living a little more than an hour away, and will book a room here again for that early morning flight back east. read more

This weekend I went to my cousin's wedding in Irvine, Ca, the wedding was beautiful. Since my fiancée and I live about an hour away, we elected to stay in Irvine at The Marriott. Parking and pricing were excellent. The self-parking wasn't too far and valley was available. Regarding pricing, we paid $99/night. I thought that was a great rate! The lobby was really big and nice and it offered a restaurant, sushi, and bar. It was very elegant; especially for a Marriott. Some genius up at corporate Marriott had a genius idea one day. He said to himself, "Let's incorporate the best mattresses we can." And they did! And I loved it! I always sleep like a baby at Marriott. We had a beautiful view and even took advantage of Marriott's shuttle to/from the wedding. I almost forgot, room service! Thought I didn't get a pizza delivered so that I can have 4th meal? We ordered a Supreme Pizza and Chicken Tenders. Valery, the operator promised me food inside of 20 minutes and she delivered! The food was great and fast! It was a great stay. I'll be at the JW Marriott in Palm Desert, Ca this weekend and can't wait. I love this place! They too have a sushi bar in the lobby! read more

I was in Irvine for a few days with work and didn't know what type of accommodation I was going to be put up in. The Irvine Marriott really delivered and the staff is top notch and took care of all 100+ of us.. ya we roll deep! The rooms were nice, clean and well put together. My only gripe is that the maid never restocked my coffee when she cleaned and I had to stop for my morning jolt at the downstairs Starbucks. Hmm, clever of them huh? The free breakfast wasn't too bad, but it's only during the week. I definitely experienced the bad apple when i was at the lobby bar. The bartender was an absolute bi&$h and should never tell a customer that she doesn't care because she is now off the clock. Bad day, ya probably, but you just don't say things like that. I wish I could split my review to five stars for absolutely every staff member and the three stars for actual rooms. Everyone was so welcoming, helpful, hard-working above and beyond! Very clean rooms, elevators, etc. again due to excellent management and staff. But the bathrooms in the rooms are poorly designed: instead of a solid locking bathroom door you have a sliding pocket door with a frosted glass insert. The worst thing about this is if you always need to pee in the midst of the night you'll be totally waking up anyone in the room. The low bathroom ceiling (OMG!!!) has no bathroom fan, no way to "clear the air." Strong recommendation stay on side away from freeway unless you like hearing loud muscle cars flexing their engines.... Pretty much all night. It was so bad we moved to a room on the other side. But this room was on third floor faced an outdoor gazebo area where a live band was playing. The obnoxious boom boom monotonous base actually vibrated our windows. This location is so convenient to UCI, if you stay just make sure you get a HIGH room floor that doesn't face the freeway. read more

An excellent Marriott. We came to OC last weekend for a two day vacation from LA. As someone who has stayed in hotels all over the world, the Irvine Marriott was outstanding. Very modern, fun and lots to do both in the hotel and in the area. This is Irvine and not a resort. You come here, and to any hotel in Irvine, so that you can sleep, relax and then get out to do something. I planned a little last minute getaway for my family and we decided to come here. Not a very great experience as I would expect. Parking is $35 a night, such a ridiculous price! I checked in and the lady in the front was very rude but whatever maybe she had a bad day. I get to my room and open up a drawer so I can put my stuff in and find a bunch of open cans. I immediately call the front desk they were able to move us to a different room, thankfully. In the new room we get in there was dirty rags hanging on the shower curtain ! I just don't get how you can miss seeing that. Also stains on the sheets. Seemed like someone was just in the room right before I got in. I didn't want to keep moving rooms as it was already late when I checked in so I put them off to the side. Since we are in the middle of a pandemic, I would've expected the rooms to be EXTRA clean! Nice conference rooms and restrooms... I was here the other day for a seminar on bacterial endotoxin detection... The conference room we were in wasn't too bad. The tables were a tab bit wobbly and small and the chairs weren't the most comfortable but just enough to sit in for the whole 8 hour seminar. For some reason, the thermostat wasn't working properly so the room was a little bit on the colder side. Other than the learning aspect, the most amazing thing about the conference here was the food that was served for breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. They used Starbucks coffee for their coffee. They had a various assortment of muffins, danishes, cereals, fruits and breads for breakfast. They also provided various teas and juices. Lunch consisted of kouskous, some kind of chicken and vegetable kabobs, steak, salad, more fruits and baklava. The lunch was surprisingly delicious. During the afternoon part of the seminar, they served more muffins and other pastries and sodas, water, and coffee. The restroom was very clean and spacious enough that you weren't rubbing elbows with the guy standing next to you (who obviously didn't get the memo on proper urinal usage etiquette). The sinks were automatic and well stocked with soap and paper towels. The hotel is easy to get to although I was slightly confused with trying to find the entrance to the hotel parking lot. Parking here is pretty expensive but luckily, ours were validated. Overall, I had a decent experience at this hotel for the seminar... I wouldn't mind attending another seminar here but driving up the 405 was a pain in the @$$... read more

This not a good looking Marriott AT ALL.. The lobby is nice but the rooms don't match. I come to the OC regularly for business and decided that I would stick with the Marriott chain. I think I will rethink my decision. The rooms are dark, low ceilings and the bathroom is super tiny. I'm not very happy with it! I wont stay here again. Every staff member I encountered during my stay would be a gold medal winner at the Friendly Employee Olympic Games! The facility itself was just lovely! Attention to detail was quite evident. Parking fees were a bit over-the-top though; I was glad that my convention had arranged for a reduced price. I also had several meals during the convention. Horrible customer service. Got overcharged on laundry bill and other charges, so I contacted hotel property. They cannot even find the record of laundry and hotel agents don't seem to care so much. When I left poor review on that property on website, the hotel manager contacted me stated they will try to provide better service in future, however their words and action does not seem to match. They will not respond to customer's needs right away once you checked out. Make sure you confirm with all the items on your bill, they hardly answer the phone. I have never experienced these kind of hospitality from Marriott property, particularly on this particular Irvine site. Always been greatful to stay at Marriott hotels last 7years or so, however this kind of experience quite ruined my expectation. I don't recommend to stay this particular property unless you have abundant patience in case of any problem may occur. Stay at other Marriottt properties near, there are many others. I rarely leave bad reviews or complain about things even if the sutuation somewhat inconvenient. At this point, I don't really care if I will get refund or not on the amount being overcharged. This Marriott is fine. Nothing special. Breakfast buffet food was good! The major complaint I have is an incident I had with the restaurant. Long story short, the staff is too stupid to live. Superviser was extremely rude and unprofessional. Treated my sister and me as if we were trying to lie our way into getting a complimentary breakfast (why would we do this?) which we supposedly got with our room... Told me I would have to PAY to eat grapes from my sister's buffet plate. (What.) Anyway overall just extremely rude; I won't rant anymore, although believe me, there was more. Front desk was very helpful, other than the actual manager, who just doesn't really understand customer service. The hotel itself is clean and fine. Located in central office area. The hallways leading to the rooms and the rooms themselves are a bit outdated, with that said everything else about this hotel is pretty legit. The service was great at the bar and Flow (the lounge) was pretty dope. I was here for my buddy's wedding after party, so it was a good time. Clean, spacious and a good spot to chill out and have a drink, or two. There's an impressive waiter who memorized our drinks from the night before and recited all eight back to us. He knew exactly who had what drink, pretty cool. Hows that for service? read more

Talk about luxury. Their decor is moderm and classy. The restrooms have complimentary sea salt for your hands to be soft. You feel like a million bucks when you walk in. All the valet is very friendly. Such a great spot to have events. The restaurant looked really classy, it has a nice fire area outside. I was there yesterday for a salsa event with meetup.com . Stayed here Friday night. The facility was perfect. No complaints. The room was clean and well-equipped. The bathroom was perfect and the service was excellent. My only complaints relate to hotel restaurant service, fees and WiFi. I went to the lobby restaurant for breakfast Saturday morning. I ordered 2 eggs over hard with hash browns, sausage, English muffin, coffee & water. Simple enough. The waiter took my order by memory and failed to write it down. They forgot the water, brought eggs that were over easy instead of over hard and wheat toast instead of English muffin. Everyone makes mistakes, but with a price tag of $20 for a basic breakfast, this should've been easy. Second on my list is the WiFi. To get an internet connection in your room you need to sign up for a 3rd party service called iBahn. If you didn't do this ahead of time, the daily charge for a high-speed connection in your room is $12.95. The alternative is a dial up connection in the phone jack. For the prices they charge at the Marriott, WiFi should be free in all rooms, just as it is in many of the cheaper motor lodges and motels I've stayed at. If you stay in any of the lower floors, you may be able to pick up the lobby WiFi signal in your room, which is free. I was on the 4th floor and got moderate signal strength. Third on my list is parking. Guests at any hotel shouldn't have to pay extra for parking, yet parking here is an additional $9 for guests. Non-guests/visitor parking is $18 per day - pretty steep. Fourth and last on the list, watch out for the little "free" perks, as they may not be free. Sitting on the desk in my room was a nice 1 liter bottle of purified water. You may be thirsty after your long trip and how thoughtful of Marriott to have a bottle of water waiting for you. However read the fine print. If you open that bottle of water, as I almost did, it's an additional $3.50 charge. I can get a liter of spring water at the grocery store for $1.50 so caveat emptor! Normal posted minimum daily rates here are $325 per day, however these are heavily discounted on a regular basis, so shop around. My room for a Friday night came to a little over $100. read more
