We were on the 12 floor the first night and construction started immediately above us at 8 am. We were moved down to room 340 - which honestly the smell had me questioning if someone unfortunately had deceased in the room and not been checked in for a few days. So okay, fine, we have a new quiet room, right? Nope. 8:35am, the valet stand's music was so loud both of us could make out the lyrics to songs with earplugs in. It had me flashing back to spring break in college. We called and they turned it down slightly. Okay, so that's all taken care of, we're both exhausted and just want to get a decent nights rest after two nights of disturbed R.E.M. cycles. Stay #3 - 8:00am: drilling in the room DIRECTLY below us that is so loud I am considering contacting OSHA or some regulatory service and filing a complaint. We were moved to this room being told there was no construction here and it would be fine. Obviously we weren't told the truth. To add to all of this, while making the reservation we were told the pool was indeed NOT under renovations. But as we tried to use it the second day we learned it was closed for improvements for the remainder of our stay. Do yourself a favor and stay at a seedy motel 8 in the middle of two rival gangs' turf war. You'll have the same troubles sleeping but at a fraction of the cost. read more

This was my first time at this hotel. It seems that they have recently renovated. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. The look and feel of the rooms and lobby is modern, clean and bright. The m-club lounge for elite members was fantastic. The fact that it is open 24/7 with food options was a real time and cost saver. The room however I felt needed some improvement. The bathroom I feel was left behind in the renovation. Ceiling tiles were bowed and it still has an old style feel. There was one small open face closet and one large draw. For a couple it might be fine but I was traveling with a business partner and it feels like the storage could be improved. The beds however were amazing. The single most comfortable mattress I have slept in at a hotel. Pillows and blankets wee very comfortable. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

Put on a wedding for 190 people in the Tuscanny room. Kosher. Had Friday evening dinner and brunch Monday catered by hotel. Kosher outside caterer Sunday. The staff could not have been more helpful. Had 54 room booked for various stays. No complaints only complimenent about the staff. Observant people help without issue in Friday and Saturday. They helped make an great occasion even greater. Working with Kim the events coordinator helped make this one of the best weekend and the greatest marriage event for my daughter and son in law New decor modern and feels most friendly. I went here and worked all day in the M Club. I never tried this before but met with two other reps to work on our quarterly business reviews. It was great to have a quiet place to meet, munch on free snacks and drinks and then we had lunch outside. My room that nice was nice and quiet. Noise is a big deal for me. This is a deceptively bad hotel. Not only is there nothing in the area, there are a number of basic things conspicuously lacking. No complementary wifi. No complimentary breakfast. Not necessarily free parking. No refrigerator. No microwave. The service is great, the restaurant is ok and the lobby is nice. The rooms are just awkwardly small and it's disappointing to be charges 9.95 for wifi these days... Some aspects of the room were also somewhat dingy and worn. Would not recommend!! read more

There are good things about the Marriott chain. The lobby is impeccable. The staff is very alert and there's plenty of them. The rooms were decent. But then.... The LG TV in our room had a slightly cracked screen. Bathroom amenities like body lotion seemed low-rent. No free in-room WiFi. No continental breakfast. Or free breakfast for that matter, and when you're a parent of a daughter in a soccer tournament, free breakfasts are the most attractive, right after free in-room Wifi. Twenty bucks per day to park. No Golf Channel. (Hey, what can I say.) So, all in all, my advice to management is to include breakfast, wifi and parking (and add the Golf Channel) and up the price $20 a night. I didn't stay here but hung out here for a few b/c I parked my car in the lot when flying out of Orange County. The lobby/restaurant areas are clean and nice. The parking deal is reasonable if booked online with a reservation, which we did on our way to the airport. I think we paid $8 a day. It's safe, gated, and security is there 24/7. Plus they have a shuttle that runs until the last flight lands. Would definitely use their parking service again. And if I had to stay in Irvine, I would stay at this property b/c the staff was very pleasant and I am sure the rooms are nice. read more

Great location as it refers to SNA. Live music at night really sets the tone for a great evening. The extremely sexy, urban chic lobby is vibrant and intriguing. However, the rooms are completely average/run-if-the-mill. It's the ultimate in a hotel bait and switch. It's like ordering a fillet mignon and getting chicken fried steak instead. It's like showing up at your girlfriends house expecting to take out the hot 20-year-old who you're in love with and down comes her grandma ready to go on the date instead. Decent place. Rooms are clean, no extra frills though. Parking can get full quickly, but there is a structure in the back. I don't think we even needed to pay for parking... we added the cost to our room, but the entire parking system is automated, we coulda parked for free... Hotel is mainly for business people. It's very close to 405 freeway and airport. Parking is $18 a day and it doesn't guarantee you a parking spot. Because of conventions, parking can be hard to find. FYI, avoid parking during lunch time, difficult to find parking space. Internet will also cost you. Starbucks in the lobby, expect to pay more than usual. Concierge service is convenient if you have little ones, $30 a day, good breakfast selection, evening appetizer and desert is OK, alcohol is extra. Staff is friendly, rooms kept clean, bell service available just ask. Parking for $18 a day is a lot, it's not like it's located in downtown San Francisco. For that reason, I would stay somewhere else if you can. Otherwise, convenient location from airport. read more

I stayed here for a night courtesty of American Airlines since my flight got canceled due to a mechanical problem. The guy at the front desk was really nice and he gave me a king sized bed. When I got off to my floor, I really wasn't expecting anything, but the hallways were nice. I've been to a few nice hotels where the lobby was really swank but once you get to a floor with rooms, it's obvious that not much effort was expended to make the hallways look nice. Anyways. . . The room was pretty cool and the bathroom had name brand shampoo and conditioner. Hey, it's the little things that make me happy folks. The bed was comfortable. At first, I thought it was too soft, but you sort of get enveloped into it. Even though I had to get up early to catch the 5am shuttle to the airport, I wandered around the hotel for a bit, around 10:30 Sunday night, to check it out. The fitness room was pretty cool. Open 24 hours for guests, it had a few weight machines and a few cardio machines, such as bikes, treadmill, and an elliptical. TVs were all attached to the cardio machines. The room also had headphones and towels available. On the main floor, an Indian wedding was going on in one of the ballrooms. Music was blasting and I saw that there were still names left of people on a table outside of the ballroom of guests who had yet to show up. I briefly considered changing into something nicer and taking a name to crash the wedding, but realized that I didn't have anything nice enough. Next time, I'll remember to pack a sari for a weekend in the OC. The shuttle came by early next morning as scheduled and I got to the airport on time. Overall, nice hotel. I just wish I had more time to take advantage of all it had to offer. Not that I'm saying I want future flights cancelled. That was just a pain. read more

We had a company event here. The service was great. The food was actually fabulous, especially since it was hotel catering. The staff very friendly and helpful. The pool was great, the gym looked good, but didn't use it. The outdoor fireplace was perfect to warm up at. The room was average to small. The bed was o.k., but my hubby wound up having to put pillows against his back to keep him from rolling to the center dip in the bed. The pillows were great. Very luxurious. $15 for parking, $20 for Valet. No free Wi-Fi, Movies were pricey, but I did get to finally see the Hangover. No Mini Fridge. Pretty Holiday Inn Express feel for a Marriott. First I want to start off by saying that the Hotel itself is beautiful, clean and Lorelei was very friendly at check in. The food at the restaurant was also good for the price and Martin was a very attentive. With all that being said, we still checked out after 2 total hours in the hotel. We noticed upon arrival that there were large groups of teenagers running around the lobby and being rowdy, but no big deal, it was the lobby after all. Apparently there was a basketball tournament that weekend. What is leading to this poor review is that as we were sitting down for dinner there were two major issues. Number one, there was a family having a very loud argument in the lobby/restaurant area and no one said anything. One man even stormed off, slammed the door and nothing. The hotel staff went to look at the door but didn't seem to care that the family was still there making a scene. The man that hit the door even came back in and nothing. It continued to escalate and nothing. While that was happening, there was a group in the restaurant and pool area that were visibly beyond alcohol consumption limits. They were so loud and it made me feel unsafe to take my family anywhere but our room. Lastly when we finally went up to our room, the rooms next to us and across from us sounded like groups of teenagers having a party with no adult supervision. Trying to have a relaxing get away was impossible even in our room. While I'm grateful that the hotel gave me a refund, it seemed that they would rather have us leave and eat the refund then address any of the issues I let them know about or even empathize with the bad experience. read more

In writing this review, I am deeply disturbed by the lack of integrity this hotel claims to have. Our stay went well. We had no issues until I checked my banking statement and saw an extra $245 charge to our credit card. The parking was $37 which was mentioned, but when we called, we came to find out that the hotel charged us $208 for a restaurant fee. We had never attended the restaurant. After calling and being rudely interrogated by the front desk workers over the phone, my significant other called and was able to speak on the phone with the front desk manager. After explaining to her what had happened, we were told that accounting was sent an email and that we would be contacted first thing the next morning. We did not receive a single call from the hotel. Again my significant other had to call, wait for about 10 minutes on hold to be told that we would get a call in 30 minutes. We later received a call, and were told that someone had given a wrong room number and that we were charged. While I am glad that we are in the process of getting our refund, we are very disappointed in the front desk's attitude from the first time we called, and the hotel's security of their guests. We were told that guests are charged after giving a last name and hotel room number, yet the person that gave our hotel room just provided the wrong hotel number. This baffles me and I should warn others of staying here due to their carelessness and dare I say laziness to securely check who they are really charging. Our experience was ruined and we would warn others of staying at this hotel. read more

Stayed at this hotel when attending a concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater nearby. Since it was the host hotel, there was a free shuttle, which was very handy. Another reviewer noted expecting free wi-fi for the room price, but it's my experience that at these types of hotels that fancy themselves to be "higher class" they charge you up for everything! This is a perfect example. Please, if I am paying $150 a night, wi-fi should be free. It's really no extra expense to them, and it makes guests feel great to get that as a perk. If you get free wi-fi at any Comfort Inn, why not at a nice Marriott. That has never made any sense to me. I think they are catering to the business traveler (like the Courtyards do) where people on a corporate card don't have to care about all the nickel and diming. The pool was nice, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They really came through with some late-night faxing and email I had to get done, even before I had arrived! The room wasn't huge, but it was clean, with a big flat screen TV. I really like the product line in the bathroom,as well, given out at Marriott's Residence Inn chain also. Can't say anything really stood out. Best thing about the hotel was that it was close to the airport. During my stay in early January, the concierge lounge was closed. There was a sign to call the front desk if anything was needed. I picked up dinner to eat back in my room. Called front desk for couple bottles of water since the lounge was closed. Took them TWO HOURS to bring up two bottles of water. There are other area hotels so I may try another hotel next time. It's always the little things that make it or break it for me. read more

They have done some major remodeling since I was here last year! It looks way more modern and updated. This is a very nice hotel with plush beds. I have a bad neck and back and can't sleep in normal hotel beds one night without being in pain the rest of my stay. But their mattresses are perfect! I felt like I was sleeping on my nice mattress at home. No pain on the 2 nights I was staying. The staff all around is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. But seriously, take out the strangely colored lights in the elevators please. The green and blue are way too bright and kill the eyes during the elevator rides. And it wasn't just me...everyone I got in the elevator with during the 30 or so times I was up and down during my stay mentioned how annoying they were. The parking is always a bit of an annoyance though. It's a strange parking lot with weird turns and lanes. The valet parking section is a bit too big for a hotel IMO. They do have a parking garage, but it's all the way in the back and quite far from the lobby. read more

This hotel was conveniently located close to the airport as well as my client site, so I didn't have to worry much about the SoCal traffic situation. This hotel would get a 3 stars for me, but I've added +1 for the convenience. It was overall a decent stay- nothing special. We had breakfast upstairs, which was also just okay. This is for the parking only. We waited for the 9:15 shuttle last night to take us to our car after a long day of traveling. We were the first family there waiting . Right when the shuttle pulled up all these people crowded around us and took her spot in the van . The driver immediately called Marriott and sent a private suburban to come get us . He arrived in 3 minutes! I pissed until I saw the suburban so quickly arrive . And the driver was the most pleasant driver we have ever had. My mood quickly turned thanks to him. I'm in the middle on this one: The property is definitely older. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and other furniture serviceable, but not on the "high" end of Marriotts that I have stayed in. Unless you are here on business, you may be disappointed that there is basically NOTHING to do in the area after 5pm (this is a business park location); so bring a car if you want to actually do something. Staff is friendly. Food OK. And they do nickel and dime ($16 for parking? Seriously?) I'm probably in 2 to 2.5 star territory, but will default to 3 stars. read more

I am taking a star away because someone in my floor was smoking when it was non-smoking facility. Cleaning lady called security to check but they could not find the actual room. read more

Horrible Experience! The Irvine Marriott hosted a college tour this afternoon and we attended. The college gave us all a special tag for our parking as we entered the event. The presentation lasted one hour and 20 minutes. As my family and I were exciting, an employee who was standing guard came out and apologized but said that the college only paid for 1/2 of the parking fees. If we wanted out of the lot we would have to pay the other half of $14.00! When I explained to him that this was never explained to us by either party and that we originally were in a lot not owned by the Marriott that would have cost us 1/2 of that price, he said, "I know and am only doing what my boss instructed. I have been yelled at by a lot of people already" I did not say another word as he grabbed my American Express card and forced it into the slot for payment. I think this was not only cheesy of the hotel as they should have had a sign up as we entered the event, but it was also extremely dishonest. The hotel wanted $28.00 to park on a Sunday when the only thing happening at their hotel was an event put on by a reputable college. The lobby was lifeless. This is Irvine, not New York City or Los Angeles! The hotel is sandwiched between office buildings all around that are empty on the weekends. I think I heard crickets as I entered the front foyer! As we left, I did not stop at the front desk to talk with a manager as I was running late for another event, but I will be relaying the problem to my credit card company. This felt so cheap and uncalled for from a reputable name brand like Marriott. If they are so hard up for money, they need to figure out how to make that elsewhere. I felt frustrated and sad for the college host. He had half of his stickers for the event parking still in his possession as most people refused to park in the lot at that price. I only came back into the lot because he told us it was complimentary! The Marriott management should have put up a sign in the parking area or come into the event to explain the parking situation so that people could move their cars if need be. Shame on them!!! My one star is for the convenience . Other the building is old and the rooms are stuffy and over priced . Internet is charged parking is charged . It's just crazy ! The food is good and worth the money so is the pool , it's perfect for summer ! We got to irritated by the space and the smell we moved into a residence inn for a better rate and 10 mins away .
