Wanted to start a bike ride Sunday morning at Santa Fe Dam and as luck would have it I had a flat irreparable tube and no spare, thought my ride was over before it even started.. Luckily this bike shop is just up the street from the park, I walked in with my flat tire in hand, Jorge and Walter were extremely friendly, they got me the tube I needed and replaced it for me. Dont waste your time. Arrived at 1:15 . The store was closed. A sign said they be back at 2:30. I waited until then. Still no one showed up. As I was waiting I saw a few others stop by and wait . Ended up coming by this shop after getting a nasty flat and tear on the SGV trail. Both men working on that Saturday were friendly and very knowledgeable. I had to replace not only the inner tube, but the tire as well, and wasn't pushed to buy anything, but was explained my different options. I had several questions for one of the owners, as I was in the market for a new bike, and he had very valuable tips for me. All this to say that he knew I was keeping my options open to possibly purchase at a different place, with different brand bikes. But definitely a place I'd return to. read more

I'm new to cycling and really don't know how to do any but the most basic repairs. Having a bike shop I trust is important. It's like going to a mechanic, if you don't know anything, you can easily get ramrodded with a fat bill. Walter is super nice and very fair with pricing. He'll tell you what you need repaired/replaced and educate you at the same time. If something can be held off, he'll tell you instead of making you make unnecessary repairs. My brakes were worn to the metal. When he took them off and showed me I was shocked I didn't notice anything in my ride. My tires were worn unevenly and he rotated them for me to get me a little mileage before needing replacements the next time. The shop is conveniently located off the Santa Fe dam and is an easy detour for me on my regular ride. His shop carries everything you need from a whole bike to the essential accessories you might have forgotten when you left the house. Unbelievable! I was riding when my chain snapped..within view of Irwindale cycles. I scooted in to see if I could borrow a hand chain tool to repair my chain. The employee told me he wouldn't do it and that I had to give him $10 dollars. He told me that he and the owner aren't in the business of helping stranded cyclist. He then said too bad for me and no other shop would help. Well, dumbass, in 30 years of riding I've come across dozens of shops that were very helpful in crises all over the state. This shop is all about the dollar and being rude. DO NOT go here....shit, the guy at the swap meet and every other shop in the area wouldn't be this rude and condensing. After visiting another cycle shop, located in San Dimas, I went to Jorge with my hand cycle. The other shop told me I need to completely change my entire derailer, my hand cycle is only 6 months old, they also said; there was no way it can work--the design was flawed. I didn't believe them so I went for a second opinion. Jorge came out and took all of but a few minutes, went and got his hand tools, and fixed the derailer--by tuning it properly. A 10.00 fix. Jorge has been my choice for all of my cycle maintenance from then on. Great service, very nice Jorge, and honest too. read more

I took my bike out of the garage after who knows how long. I thought I needed a tube and so I took it to this place. It was the closest to my house. His prices were pretty good for the tube and labor. It was his service that got me hooked. He was patient with me and answered all my questions. He explained what my best options were. Granted he did try to sell me on a tune-up, but that's his job right? I'll keep coming back to this place simply for the service. I had been hit by a car and my bike took the brunt of the impact, he replaced my rear derailleur cable, rear wheel and swapped over my tire in ~40 min. My wife and are looking to purchase bikes. So we decided to do some shopping around. We have been to a couple of other places before we went to Irwindale Cycles. Let me tell you that the person that was there did not greet us so we proceeded to tell her that we were interested on purchasing bikes for us. Without skipping a beat she pointed at a few bikes and said that those are all she hand in stock. I understand with the current situation that we are facing and with everyone purchasing bikes right she could have been a little more hospitable and asked us more questions. For instance at the other bike shops that we had gone to they were also facing a shortness of stock. But, at least they talk to like what kind riding we were planning on doing, do we want a hybrid, road or mountain bike. And most importantly what we were planning on spending. We did get any of that at this place. So, we will not be returning and they lost a possible future customer. read more

Needed air for my bike and saw irwindale cycles sales and repair. I walk in to no greetings. I approached the person working there and ask if I can borrow a pump. His reply was "we don't have a pump!" WTH? bike shop that performs repairs with no pump! Really? Wow! I would've paid if he had one and charge but no pump...how do you operate a bike shop without a pump? Let alone perform repairs? Its like going to in n out with no fries! Have been here several times. Have always had good service. I bought my khs urban extreme here.i wanted a large size frame and he told me i should get a medium. I dont change my mind easily but i figured he is the expert. He explained to me how my size 5'9" would not work out for me with a large. He was totally right. I have come here a few times needing adjustments with my bikes or sisters bike and it always gets handled. very reasonable prices. if you buy a bike here they will give you no charge tune-ups and adjustments for a year. that includes the rims that sometimes bend and wobble when you hit something. i brought my nephew's rim here all mangled from some kid running into him and martin fixed it. he told me he was not sure if he could but he would try. when i came to pick it up the next day i was surprised he was able to fix it. he didn't even charge me extra. he charged me the same as if it was 1 or 2 spokes just loose. So far good service. They mainly sell the Giant brand of bicycles here. it's a cool spot cause it's close the the santa fe dam. i cant believe the owner Martin still remember's my name every time i walk in. read more

Had a great experience coming into this shop. Didn't know what to expect since the shop had gone through a new transition in ownership. Had Walter immediately help with me my specialized bicycle with a replacement of my fork. I was surprised how well informed he was with the cycling community and was happy to adjust my saddle height and stay late for me when I had forgotten to bring back a part for my bicycle.
