    Chocolate and vanilla ice cream.
    Scott F.

The ice cream here was great: 4.7: Chocolate. Dark and complex. But lots of stabilizers: Gloopy and thick. But good meltdown. 4.6: Vanilla. Very strong flavor. Less gloopy than chocolate. They have a Pozzetti counter: lids cover each flavor. That keeps the temperature more constant.

Great little ice cream shop in the heart of the picturesque shopping/dining district at the top of Solano Avenue with many really imaginative flavors. In here, you'll find a classic yet contemporary ice cream shop chill kind of aesthetic with tables and chairs near the windows to enjoy your dessert. The 1950's style wire-back chairs with solid round marble tables create the perfect environment to sit around and enjoy your treats. Behind the counter, you'll encounter super friendly terrific service that is sample-forward!! They really want you to try a couple of flavors before choosing! Well, alrighty then! Bring it on! =) I tried the Mint Chip (on point), Meyer Lemon (Awesome!), Valencia Orange (so nostalgic to me) and the Banana Oreo (def for next time)! They have handmade waffle cones for an extra $1.50, or you can just have your order served in the default cone or a paper cup. I settled for the Meyer Lemon in a cup, but they gave me a little bit of the Valencia Orange because I felt that was pretty good too. The actual ice cream yes, was very creamy and good. The Meyer Lemon ice cream stood head and shoulders above all the other flavors I tried that day. PRO TIPS: 1) TRY the Waffle Cone - plain or chocolate! 2) Know that every cup does get a little triangular waffle wafer, and my wafer was still warm yet crunchy and delicate to the touch. It was exquisite! Yes, I definitely will be back to try whatever the new flavors are next time I'm in town!

My favorite lil ice cream shop! I've been going here with my family since I was younger, and it's still my go to place for a sweet treat. Their flavors and comp waffle chips never disappoint :) I don't need too much so the kids scoop is usually perfect for me!

First time going to iScream! I went on a Saturday night. The shop is small but cozy. I was able to try a flew favors before landing on the coffee and apple double scoop! I went with a cone and loved it! All in, my ice cream was about $9. The staff was great and very helpful! There is some seating inside. Parking can be challenging but you'll probably find something. I'll be back again!

I've gone back to I-Scream a few times since the last review, and gotten to try the blueberry, creme brulee, honey lavender, and earl grey during those visits. I enjoyed all of those flavors, and earl grey was probably the least sweet out of those, whereas the blueberry and creme brulee are definitely very sweet and the honey lavender is definitely fairly heavy on the sweetness from the honey even though the lavender flavor also comes out strongly enough. Overall, I still consider Mexican chocolate to be my top favorite flavor here due to the richness, density, texture, and spice flavor, but I also do make sure to have their tea flavors or lavender when I see it on the menu. I'd suggest checking their website or Instagram ahead of time to know what flavors are currently available. I had the chocolate cone one of the times which I thought was yummy, fresh, and crunchy. However, if you get their ice cream in a cup, they still include small triangle pieces of waffle cone, which I find to be a fun touch and unique to I-Scream. The last time I visited, I-Scream had added some indoor tables, but there continues to be a small amount of outdoor seating, and there are certainly other benches you can sit down at if you just walk a little ways down Solano. Definitely still among my top favorite ice cream places in terms of the quality of flavors, and I would say they also give a decent amount of ice cream for the price, so I also consider it to be good value overall for the money.

Honey lavender is my favorite flavor here. Really friendly workers and they encourage samples. $9 for two scoops on a waffle cone is pretty standard for fancy Bay Area ice cream. Their scoops are creamy but they do have more ice crystals and are colder than maybe a custard or other more dense ice cream. Lots of other shops and restaurants on Solano as well so it's a nice treat after dinner or while out shopping.

iScream for ice cream! As a child, it was always special when my family would take me here for a sweet treat. Fast forward, now that I'm dairy-free, I haven't been to iScream since I was a teen but I'm so glad that I've come back with my childhood best friend! My best friend and I came on a weekday afternoon. It was the perfect sunny day for dessert. The ice cream parlor is on the smaller end with a couple of tables, but it mainly operates as take-out. Plenty of happy families and customers come in, and service has always been inviting and kind. Operating as an artisan ice cream shop, you can taste the quality of their ingredients, plus free samples. They offer traditional and specialty flavors as well as different sizes and cups and cones. Their Burnt Caramel was my go-to as a child but this go around I had a baby scoop of the Pink Grapefruit Sorbet. The Pink Grapefruit Sorbet was sweet and the grapefruit flavor came at the end, though it melted quite fast. My only wish is that they offer more vegan flavors! My friend enjoyed the Marzipan. iScream is a special place ice cream lovers gravitate towards on Solano Ave. Find street parking in the area. There's always a group of happy customers coming in and out! I'm looking forward to coming back again soon.

Best ice cream place in Berkeley!! The ice cream is delicious and addicting! You can tell it's always made fresh! The staff is always super friendly too.

They are friendly and welcoming upon entry and allow you to try flavors! When I came in July 2026, they had unique flavors like saffron, lavender, earl grey, and hibiscus among many others! The only issue is there's no clear menu posted online, so we walked in completely blind. Their website shows a long list of flavors but not what they actually have that day, so it felt like a guessing game. The line moved really slow because there was only one employee handling everything. She was taking orders, giving samples, answering questions, and ringing people up all at once. She was super friendly and doing her best, but it felt like a lot for one person during a rush and the shop could definitely use more help. The space is really small and tight so it was hard to even see the flavors until we got close to the front. When we finally got up there, a lot of the tubs were already empty which was confusing since most ice cream shops restock. Some flavors I wanted weren't available anymore, and if they're out it would make more sense to just remove them from display. The dirty containers didn't make sense to display. I sampled the jasmine green tea and knew right away I wanted it. It was creamy with a smooth tea flavor that wasn't overpowering. I got a small with half jasmine green tea and half avocado. The avocado was surprisingly really good, super creamy and tasted like a fresh avocado smoothie. Both flavors weren't overly sweet which I liked. My husband wanted cookies and cream but it was sold out so he got chocolate chip instead, which was solid and creamy with good texture. Overall the ice cream itself was good, not the best I've had but definitely not bad. I like that the flavors lean more natural and not overly sweet. I could see myself coming back if I'm in the area, but the experience would be a lot better with faster service and more consistency with what's actually available.

We spotted the Gianduja (Hazelnut & Chocolate) later, and it will be on the list for the next visit. * Piedmont Hazelnut (Nocciola del Piemonte): The overall favorite--rich, creamy, and nutty. * Orange Blossom Honey: Our guest's top pick from the regular menu. He exclaimed, beaming, at least three times how good that flavor was! * King Pluot: One of the special flavors of the day, the gelato captured the taste of summer - bright, sweet, and refreshing. * Black Sesame: I was curious how black sesame would taste in gelato, and I was not disappointed - the flavor was deep and earthy, made with Japanese sesame seeds. There may be a dozen gelato and ice cream shops in Berkeley, but Caravaggio is where you'll relish the science and art of gelato making.

But, my boss orders us food from Fenton's via Doordash to be delivered to our Oakland office from time to time. Last several times in a row, it's been pretty dang bad, (the potato chips always taste fishy!) but today (8/5/26) it was literally garbage. We had 2 egg salad sandwiches and a jalapeno burger, plus two milkshakes. The egg salad sandwiches had to be straight up tossed out. Just not edible. The egg salad was sooo watery, it was like a soup. Just dripping and running down out of the bread. Also, a HEAVY mustard taste, overpowering everything else. The burger had a piece of something (literally) translucent on it, apparently their idea of a slice of cheese? And the accompanying fries were COLD. The toasted almond milkshake was so runny it was like a flavored water. Not at all a creamy consistency, I don't even think they made it with milk, it seemed to be just a tiny bit of ice cream, some water and a lot of ice cubes (still visible in the shake). Just nasty. The other milkshake seemed ok. Of course, with the order being from DoorDash, it's near-impossible to get any real support, so it's just basically a total loss. I don't know if Fenton's just doesn't GAF, since they're always busy anyways, OR if they need to pay their employees more in order to attract the sort of person who's capable of being trained to care to do things correctly, but it's just really a bummer that such a neat, fun, old legacy business is allowing itself to disappoint customers and turn into a big mess like this.
