Second time here and I think the brunch is better than the dinner. The brunch was stellar and we had a big group which is always a risk with service but it was great. The dinner was good but not a wow or anything. The service and friendly staff are still A+
We came for brunch on a Friday and it wasn't very packed, so we were able to have a good conversation without having to shout. We made a reservation and were seated immediately. The matcha latte was really good. Note that it doesn't come sweetened; you have to ask for that. I would say that the brunch dishes are average. We all ordered something different and they were pretty ordinary. The truffle fries were good. I ordered truffle fries with my dish and got regular fries instead. The server kindly let us keep the regular fries and brought us a new plate of truffle fries. The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated. For cute brunch vibes, I would recommend this place. But if you're only looking for standout food, you can skip it.
It's connected to the hotel. They have a bunch of Aussie brunch options on the menu. Opted for the avocado toast which was pretty good. Overall a decent brunch place that's not too hard to grab a table at.
My friend and I got brunch at Isla & Co, an Australian restaurant tucked away on the first floor of a hotel. They also have other locations across NYC. The mushroom toast was pretty solid with well-seasoned mushrooms, microgreens, and a poached egg. I really enjoyed their multi-grain toast because it was fluffy yet slightly toasted and crunchy. Best part was that it wasn't too hard to cut through like some of the other mushroom toasts at other brunch places. The kimchi toast was just alright. The egg was fluffy but the kimchi was too moist which made the bread soggy. Also felt like the kimchi was on the tart side (compared to older kimchi that is more savory/salty). The nutella latte was pretty well mixed but it felt more like milo x coffee (which I enjoyed) and less so hazelnut-specific nuttiness. The macchiato was pretty standard. It was busy weekend so it was pretty packed. Our food took a *long* time to come, to the point we did ask for it a couple times and maybe other tables who ordered after us got their food first. The table next to us who roughly came at the same time also had to wait for their food. I liked the tropical decor and nice/polite staff. They have a good amount of indoor seating and a covered outdoor area as well.
Came here for a birthday brunch -- we loved the espresso martini flights. For $25, it was very well priced. The waiter told me they were "sample sized" cups, so I was expecting way smaller, but I was pleasantly surprised. I don't drink caffeine, and especially espresso, very often but these tasted fantastic! The food was very good. I loved my Aussie Cowboy breakfast, and the power bowl looked and tasted great. As a large group, the service was great. I was hoping the ambiance was going to be a little cuter / I wish we were seated outside because their deck looked very nice. But inside is fine.
Came here for Sunday brunch with a 1 PM resso for four people. It's located inside the lobby of a hotel. It's an Australian brunch spot, so some of the menu items have an Aussie twist to it, but you still also have some of your regular brunch items. I wanted to try the kangaroo skewers but I knew I was alone in this, so I ended up getting the Sausage Rolls (thai spiced pork mince, puff pastry, sweet chili sauce) and a side of Chicken Salt Fries. The sausage rolls were good but I guess they're on the "for the table" section for a reason. After a few, it gets to be a bit much. I was deciding between the sausage rolls and the Crispy Chicken Sando. After trying a bite of my friend's chicken sando, I immediately regretted not getting it. The fries were good - they're battered fries, which I love. I saw a few tables that had an espresso martini flight, which looked cool. Will have to come back next time for that, the chicken sando, and someone who is willing to split the kangaroo skewers with me.
I thought the food was delicious. I was very pleasantly surprised by how thoughtful and tasty the Isla's Power Bowl was. A true vegetarian meal, it didn't make me jealous at all about the carnivorous foods by table mates had. The sticky date pudding was also a must try and great for sharing. Not everyone enjoyed it but I thought it was deliciously sweet. A great restaurant for not that expensive a price in Manhattan. I think it's worth a try especially if you have a group that can't decide what to eat.
I've been here three times -- twice for dinner and once for breakfast -- and every visit has been super delicious. For dinner, we ordered the pasta and the chicken Parmesan, and both were flavorful, well-prepared, and very satisfying. Breakfast was just as good -- the French toast was a standout and the perfect way to start the day. Everything we've tried has been consistently solid, which says a lot. Service was outstanding! Very attentive as well as the cozy vibes inside. Located inside the Hotel Hendricks, it's a great spot whether you're staying at the hotel or nearby. Definitely worth coming back, and I'd happily return again.
Penny was excellent! I was pleased with everything from his recommendations to his speedy service. The kangaroo bites were tasty. What you also see is steak and eggs and the spicy wings (more flavorful, than hot). I recommend the scarlet rose if you like espresso martinis and the pineapple gimlet was so refreshing. Everything we tried was good here.
Nice food, great service! This restaurant came up in the list of must try brunches in Midtown. This was walking distance to our hotel. We were so impressed by the entry and the restaurant ambience. It's a small place but very cute. We got the kimchi sambal Scramble and breakfast roll. The scramble had generous kimchi but no sambal. I would have liked if there was sambal as it would have cranked up the flavors a notch. I got hash browns too and they were small but very tasty nevertheless. Breakfast Roll was good-- we got the truffle fries and they were absolutely amazing. Service was pretty great! Nice interiors with a lot of faux plants and rattan light decor-- it gave a whole rainforest vibe. Overall the food was good!
I had this place bookmarked because I had to check it out. I've never really had Australian before so had to try it out and it's not too far from where I work so went for lunch with my colleagues. The space is nicely decorated, but if you come during prime lunch time it is best to make reservations. After looking over the menu it all seemed like American food. The only thing that caught my eye were the Kangaroo skewers. I expected it to be gamey, but glad it wasn't. It tasted like well done beef. I also had spicy prawns or shrimp with vodka rigatoni. It wasn't too spicy for me, so I had to add the red pepper flakes which helped a lot with the spice level. It's a nice place for a lowkey lunch.
We stopped by Isla & Co. in Midtown and loved everything we ordered! We got the espresso martini flight, the breakfast burrito (upgraded to truffle fries for only $1 more), and the Isla cheeseburger with a side salad. Everything was amazing. The espresso martini flight was definitely strong! I shared it with my mom and couldn't have finished it on my own. Our favorite flavor was the Coco Devine. We wanted to try the strawberry cheesecake waffles too, but we were so stuffed from all the food that we just couldn't fit another bite. There's only one restroom in the main dining area (unisex), and there was usually a short wait, but you can ask the hostess for a card to access the lower-level restrooms, which were very clean and much less crowded. I don't know if I'll be back on my next NYC trip just because there are so many amazing spots I still want to try, but I'd absolutely recommend Isla & Co. to anyone looking for great food, drinks, and a cozy Midtown vibe.
This place is super cute! It's on the first floor of a hotel. My friend made a reservation and we were seated right away. There's a single stall bathroom. My friend and I shared: - kimchi scramble: I wish it came with a little more kimchi. It was a pretty big portion though. Essentially it was a large portion of scrambled egg on multigrain toast with some kimchi on top. - breakfast burrito: I'm not normally a burrito person, but the pictures looked good so I was influenced to order it. It was already cut in half and came with fries. The fries were nothing special. I did enjoy the breakfast burrito, but it was missing something. It needed some hot sauce or a little more flavor - strawberry waffle: this was a yummy sweet treat to end brunch. My favorite thing we ordered. It came with 2 pieces. Service was good. They didn't rush us out or anything.

Food, drinks and service were good. They have happy hour so we tried some of the happy hour food (Spicy Chicken Wings) and drinks (Espresso Martini, Margot Robbie & Smoke Show). The bathroom was unisex and it was dirty. Also they have a 2.5% credit card fee which wasn't disclosed on the menu; I told saw it when I asked for a receipt after paying so if I didn't get a receipt I wouldn't have known that there were fees. read more

Went to the Midtown Isla location, which serves modern Australian cuisine, for a Saturday brunch with a group of 8-10 people. The space is nicely designed with a charming interior. Our group was seated at a large table in the back, slightly separated from the rest of the restaurant, which made it easy to talk and catch up. We ordered a few appetizers for the table: spicy chicken wings, waffles, and a sweet bread, followed by individual mains. The portions were all pretty decently sized, and the food all arrived at once. I had the pulled pork hash (without the bread), which was a very generous portion, easily enough for two. Overall, the food was decent but nothing particularly memorable. Isla works well for a casual group brunch, especially if you're more focused on company than cuisine. read more

I need to state with my server. He was warm, welcoming, and set such a nice tone to my time here at Isla. He was able to get my order entirely correct, provide me with GF/Vegan options, and just a warm presence. He was nice to everyone he interacted with. I think his name was Tobey? Again, keep him around he brightened up the space. My food was amazing. I got the prawn tacos and unfortunately the damn tortilla was bland and taken out of a bag... being from Latin decent I had hope but I guess it was a miss. Stay with the safe foods lol. This is a very nice and rustic elegant restaurant. Came here strictly for brunch and found some of the food appetizing and drinks were well made. While waiting at the bar I did order a matcha latte which was bitter but I added some sugar and it tasted like normal. My partner ordered the chai latte which needed no additions, it was truly delicious. Once we were seated we got our Aussie breakfast, the mini big brekkie and breakfast sandwich. Both were really good. A friend of ours got the popular pulled bbq pork but found the sweetness to be overwhelming. Being a little adventurous we got kangaroo. It was very tough, very bland and not appealing at all. Kangaroo might have to be my least favorite meat. read more

Great spot for a date, business lunch/dinner or celebration. Interior is super cute and modern. They even have a private room for small group celebration. I've been here for a business dinner a year ago and loved the food, it's very shareable and unique. Decided to come back recently for lunch with my husband and we enjoyed our meal. For lunch we ordered a cortado, Kangaroo Tucker, Fried Fish Sando and Pulled Pork Hash. The pulled pork hash was on the salty side, if it was less salty, it would have tasted much better. They were very generous with the portion. Service was on the slower end but my husband and I didn't mind it. read more

Decided to check out Isla & Co. after reading they're the "Home of the Espresso Martini Flight." And with my boyfriend and I being experienced espresso martini drinkers, we had to check it out! They have two locations in NYC, one in Midtown and one in Williamsburg. They bring their Australian culture and vibes through everything I love... food, drinks and shared experiences! We started with the espresso martini flights (predictable I know) and had to get our own which I'm glad we did. In the flight, we tried the Olive Temptation (my favorite), Scarlett Rose and Coco Devine. Olive Temptation has a touch of banana, cream and olive oil which is why it is my favorite. Scarlett Rose is more on the saltier side if you like drinks with salt and Coco Devine is a "desert-y" martini so save that for the end. As we were sipping on our flights, of course I had to try the food what goes better with espressos than a caesar salad and fries? Both were SO good. The fries were perfectly crispy and I loved the crispy parmesan wafer in the salad. My boyfriend ordered the chicken parmesan with a salad and kangaroo skewers. We were both pleasantly enjoying our time here. The service was great as well, our waiter was super attentive and gave great suggestions throughout the night. The food was strictly fine, nothing was amazing or standout but overall decent quality. I was honestly most happy with the Kangaroo Tuckers, which were a lot more tender than I thought they'd be! The breakfast roll was pretty good, with a little too much sauce for my taste. Seating seems kind of competitive, but we managed to get in quickly without a reservation on a weekend if we were okay sitting at the bar. Service was quick and friendly! read more

My friends and I recently tried this cute restaurant the last time we were in the city - and we will certainly be returning! It is located in a hotel, which is always a bit of a red flag for me - but not this time! We had exceptional service with some of the best coffee I've had in awhile. Next, they have a great Australian menu with options for our vegan friends. One friend and I split the mushroom toast and the waffles and both were so so good. Yum! Came here for a work lunch, the staff was super kind and the aesthetic was amazing. We ordered kangaroo skewers as appetizers for the table (all of our first time trying kangaroo). This restaurant has been on my to try out list for awhile. Finally made it here post a comedy show nearby. We came here closer to 9pm on a Saturday night. We ordered fried squid, sausage roll and cocktails as we weren't that hungry. I was looking forward to trying one of their espresso martinis garnished with Tim Tams but i was told it was sold out so I opted for the OG Espresso Martini. We waited for our food then the waiter came back advising us that they also had ran out of sausage rolls and asked if we wanted to order something else. He lingered around whilst we were looking at options and we asked if we could have a couple of minutes to decide but he said the kitchen was closing so he needed to know right there and then. With being under pressure, we ordered their cheeseburger. The fried squid came out first followed by our drinks. The fried squid was underwhelming, it was OK but more on the soggier side. The cheeseburger came out after and again, it wasn't anything fantastic. The bread tasted a bit dry so I didn't eat the top bun. All in all my friend and I were pretty disappointed with the experience, had high expectations given the reviews. Top-Notch Experience from Start to Finish! Everything was amazing from check-in for our reservation to check-out. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, where the simple decorations created such a relaxing atmosphere. Even though there were several parties dining, the volume was never loud or overwhelming -- just perfect for conversation. Service: Toby was our server and he was 1,000,000% top-notch. In today's world, it's rare to find that kind of genuine, attentive service. His personality was fantastic, he was always smiling, and he handled everything with professionalism and warmth. He absolutely deserves recognition for his outstanding service! Food & Drinks: The food was incredible -- and we didn't even come in starving! The hummus was smooth and flavorful (not grainy at all) with a surprising and delicious chimichurri drizzle. The espresso martini flight was such a fun idea -- unique pairings that worked beautifully. Our favorite? The rose espresso martini -- so good! We're so glad we decided to dine here. this place has delicious food at a reasonable price for midtown but it's such a shame that it is criminally busy on the weekends and it has a weird open layout in the lobby of a hotel that makes it difficult for poeple to get around (including the waitstaff which btw this place is probably understaffed or they just dont know how to manage) The bartender also needs work. i was sitting at the bar for a whole 10 minutes and no one waited on me. The hostess also needs to learn how to accomdate reservations or at least have a bit of an apologetic attitude about it!! we were sitting at the bar for almost a half an hour after the reservation and no one came to get us. the temperature of the restauarant is..... tepid there's only one single use bathroom for all of the patrons, leading to an astronomical line that further creates traffic. the layout of the restaurant is weird, with a bunch of tables in the middle we had to wait ages for our waiter to come take our order, then the food came what seemed like AGES later, then we barely got waited on again after that except for when we asked for the check i would love to come back again to try other things like the esp. martini flight which looekd awesome but im a bit traumatized by the experience and the service experience! read more

Came here on a nice day and sat outside with some friends. The outdoor area kinda smells weird and is super buggy so would not recommend. That being said, the service was super friendly. On Wednesdays they have a deal that was half off bottle of wines which we took advantage of. We also had the happy hour fries which were fried to perfection and super tasty. The best thing we ate here was the strawberry cheesecake waffles. The cream cheese and strawberry compote type thing were VERY YUMMY. I enjoyed this a lot, even the waffles itself were absolutely delicious. I do wish there was more cream cheese and less whipped cream though, because the whipped cream didn't add much and we were scraping the plate trying to get more of the cream cheese frosting. The rigatoni and pork rolls were quite underwhelming :( The rigatoni was simple and felt like something a little too homemade. It didn't have that kick that I expected a spicy rigatoni to have. It just felt like a tomato sauce with not much else going on. The flakey pastry on the sausage rolls was great! It melted in your mouth. But the sausage just had very little to no seasoning. This could've been a phenomenal dish if the sausage was just slightly more seasoned, it was almost there I will say the vibes were great for brunch, lots of natural light. Visited yesterday for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with how delicious and fresh the meal was. The flavors were very unique and they put an interesting twist on traditional meals. Originally came here over a year ago for a fantastic , but limited time happy hour. We came here again and it did not disappoint! The espresso martinis ($8/9 on happy hour) were really tasty and not too sweet. We also came on a Wednesday when they have an all day and all night 1/2 price deal on wine by the glass or the bottle. For the appetizers we tried the crispy calamari, cauliflower and kangaroo (for me & guests, it was too chewy). Then for entrees, the chicken Parma which was a huge portion, fish sando, cheeseburger, lemon broccolini orrechettie, shrimp vodka rigatoni, all were delicious & flavorful. Isla and Co. is tucked away within a hotel lobby. We were in Bryant Park and wanted some food to eat and saw an Australian restaurant on the map and this place came up! At first glance it looks really small but as you are brought to your table it reveals that it's a beautiful open space! The service was great and everyone was in a great mood! The breakfast burrito itself was not my favorite though. I do appreciate that it was toasted to give it a crunch a prefer in a breakfast burrito. But the hash brown and herb sauce in it just didn't pair well with me. It was a little greasy from the hash brown. The eggs inside were perfectly fluffy to me though. The fries felt familiar but were not a dissapointment. Not pictured was the mushroom toast, and I can say this was really really good! The mushrooms were cooked down to a good texture, the chimichurri whipped ricotta was a perfect accent to it, and the bread itself was toasted yet still super soft for a great meal. read more

Wow! This place really impressed me. Came for the espresso martini flights that I have been seeing on Tik Tok, and ended up getting some small plates to share! Service: - It was Monday around 1pm so not too many people. We were quickly seated and had great service. - Waittress quickly checked in on us and made sure to take our order. Also constantly checked-in while eating to see if anything else was needed. - Everyone was friendly, asked us how we liked our food, and made us feel comfortable. Ambiance: - The place is located/ connected to the hotel next door. - There's a cute small bar when you first walk in. You then walk through a narrow seating area which then leads you to a bigger/ open seating area in the back. Very cute and modern. Food: - Kangaroo Tucker (4.5/5) - We were scared to try, but almost felt like we had to and were so hapyp we did. Tender meat on top of a cucumber tahini sauce. Really yummy! - Fries (4/5) - Good texture, big, just a bit too salty. Came with an awesome garlic aoili sauce. - Quinoa Grain Bowl (4/5) - Flavor was very good. Would have liked more veggies with the grains, but still tasty. Absolutely enjoyed the spicy sauce they gave us on the side. Not sure what it was, but it was good! - Espresso Martini flight (5/5) - Unique but really good flavors! (1. Olive Oil, 2. Tequila, 3. Vodka) Can definitely see myself coming here again with a group to just enjoy beverages and share food. Will need to try the main dishes next time. read more

The place itself was nice, especially if you get seated inside. The staff wasn't the most friendly but it was probably because they were overworked. The food came out fast and was not bad, (both the burgers/sandos weren't recommended to us) both tastes "normal". The cauliflower was the highlight of the meal for sure, delicious. Came here on a whim - needed a spot near Grand Central for a quick lunch. Both got drinks - yummy! We also both got burgers, they were huge!! The burger was yummy (probably not medium as requested, but was good nonetheless). The French fries were sooo good. Service was good. I'd come back if I was in the neighborhood and needed something on the quicker/casual side. read more
