Sketchy and perhaps fraudulent. Went for lunch on New Year's Eve day. Grouper Reuben dry, children's Mac and cheese cold and watery. The biggest problem I have is I'm pretty sure the hog fish I ordered was haddock or something similar. Food is expensive & my mahi sandwich was not very good, no flavor at all & did not seem like it was made as described, not sure it was on sour dough bread & did not taste any cheese. This was one of the few locations near my hotel that was within biking distance and didn't require crossing a super busy bridge. I was hesitant to go because the reviews were so so... but after a long morning in the sun and my husband stealing away with the car, I biked over. The drink I could not even finish, cucumber margarita with hot peppers on the rim. Not a lot of flavor & over spiced. My salad The Coral Reef, had very hard & chewy corn. The lettuce needed to be cut & the tuna was fair. The seaweed salad & salsa was good. My friend loved her prime rib, said it was perfect. It is the special on Wednesday. Of the 3 places we have eaten this week, sadly this has been my least favorite. It is nice being able to have a relaxed atmosphere & be on the water. It started picking up around 7pm. read more

Waited for this place to reopen for a long time! Great location in the upper keys with nice views. The food today was just bland! No other way to describe it. It was lacking the love it needed. While eating the tacos I realized it had the same taste with every bite. The tuna nachos were better but nothing to get you to come back. The wait staff was struggling to keep up. This was the perfect lunch for another beautiful day in Miami. How blessed are we...sunny AF with a nice breeze while other states are just sucking right now. It's the perfect blend of tranquility and serenity. You have a choice to sit inside (inside is an open air space) or outdoors on their small beach. With ocean views and jazz music playing sitting outdoors was the only vibe we were looking for. You can pull up by car or boat here too. Seating in their beach area had 2 options. To either sit at a table that was built in between 2 trees (providing shade) or your own small table complete with umbrella. Our waiter today was Shane. Shane was everything. He was funny, polite, and attentive. He brought over our drinks quick while we went through the menu. And omg I love the menu. Every single appetizer I could've had. From the salmon tradition, the tartare (fishing your choice) to the crab cakes, sushi rolls, or conch fritters. And that's just naming a few. The menu continues to lobster rolls, seafood pastas, blackened chicken dishes to even steak and fish tacos. The variety is above appealing and the quality of food top notch! There were signs everywhere regarding their famous tuna nachos so of course that was a must and holy s@&! The freshness of the tuna was impeccable. The seaweed salad and dressings combined made the perfect starter. It was fabulous! For our main meal I continued with some more tuna pan seared and blackened on a crisp cesar salad. The portion of the tuna was very thick and tender. He had the mahi Rubens and didnt even save me a bite. damm him. lol. He also mentioned the fish on his sandwich was fresh. We were more than happy with our whole time here. The ambiance, food, and server just all made it the perfect Sunday. To end it off, Shane brought us a piece of this decadent chocolate layer cake with 2 spoons..yeah there was nothing left. For the amount of money put into this place to fix it up after the hurricane you would think attention to detail would be better. The keys is full of these Tiki places on canals. Most of them are disappointing. Half the lettuce in my salad was rotten! I can't believe that left the kitchen! There's obviously 4 employees in this place that need to get their eyes examined, the manager, the waiter, the kitchen expediter and last but not least, the person working the salad station! My wife and I live down here and have become used to this type of disappointment with local restaurants. So much so, we don't even complain or point out the obvious lack of attention and quality. We just don't go back. If rotting food is being served the staff doesn't give a damn. Just imagine what else is going on behind closed doors?We very rarely try new places because of this very reason and go out to eat far less than we did. We had lunch here on the recommendation of a fishing guide who we later learned doesn't eat out much. We should have eaten elsewhere. One of my husband's fish tacos was made with rancid mahi. Didn't pass the smell or taste test. The beans served with it tasted canned. My sushi was grocery-store quality and the portion was small but at least it was edible. The end for me was the woman the restaurant allows to accost diners by coming around asking you to buy toys for some purported "charity." We tried to politely wave her away, but she refused to leave until she finished her solicitation. To treat captive diners this way is not acceptable. Shame on management. The grouper was thin, dry and bland- did not taste fresh...actually, I would bet it was frozen considering that grouper isn't even in season... our server was friendly and kind, but the food served was very subpar. The location isn't great either- there is some water view, but it's narrow and the mangroves are close so it's not an ocean front feeling... Def skip this place- save your money. read more

A solid meh. I was so excited to get the best of the keys on my plate. I guess I should have ordered the tuna nachos The conch fritters: first conch is a chewy clam to begin with but the fitters were doughy on the inside, and one one I hit a mouthful of grit. Grit should never ever find its way into a fritter. Sorry boys-that was a major oops. The mahi Reuben. Shame on me for ordering it. Mahi is such a gentle fish, it was overshadowed by all the Reuben junk. It wasn't for me. The key lime pie-I didn't get the chance to ask if it was made in house. I had bar seating and my bartender/server was back and forth in different areas. The pie was good. The green goo they decorated my plate with was not-I don't know what flavor it was supposed to be but it tasted old. I tasted it on its own multiple times. Awesome food however be careful about their "Happy Hour". They are intentionally deceptive. A few observations: only 6 bar stools are eligible for happy hour . Went there last night and asked for happy hour and . All beers were 1/2 off. Wine for $2 (except Chardonnay!!). Bar tender did not tell us this and they charged $10/glass vs $2 expectation. Just left this place and I had to write a review immediately. We came in 40 min before closing a party of 10 and the young hostess greeted us very nice. We sat inside and our server Ronald was phenomenal, the food was amazing and I must say everyone was very nice and kid friendly. As a matter of fact everyone was really nice. The drinks were strong and good specially my white sangria with strawberries inside. The poke nachos, cheese quesadillas, coconut shrimp, baby back ribs, blackened mahi and the filet mignon were a hit. Not only was the food delicious but the presentation was also on point. Thanks chef! Second time coming and will definitely return. These people are busting their asses off working to make us have a great night. My family and I got stuck in the Keys tonight by an accident that stopped traffic for awhile. We had passed another restaurant we've eating at before and decided to settle on going there. When we doubled back, we saw the Island Grill sign and decided to give it a shot instead. Apparently, during our day of nature walking and picking up trash, we please some old forgotten gods who decided to gift us with this place. A beautiful little restaurant right on the water, incredibly friendly and prompt staff ( despite what you normally get in that area of the Keys....yeah...I said it), and an amazing food experience. We ordered with our eyes and on our waitress's recommendation. We were about to pop when we were done. I ordered the Black and Zola burger, I learned that I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola, but that burger was so good, it didn't matter! The Calamari and Coconut shrimp were inhaled by my kids, the French fries were perfection! My wife's hog fish was so good I tried to steal it from her and received several whacks for my effort. Their Tuna Nachos are not a boast, but a well backed up promise. I look forward to my next Keys visit because I will come straight back here! read more

My husband and I had our honeymoon in Islamorada, and this was the first restaurant we stopped at. We went around lunch time and got to sit right along the water, which was both enjoyable and relaxing. Not going to lie, I was a little nervous ordering sushi here (I'm picky with sushi), but it was REALLY good. We both kept saying it was one of the best rolls we've ever had. The server gave us great recommendations and was a nice guy, we liked him. I ordered the Lobster Roll as my main dish- it was SO good and so filling!
