    Tomato soup

I was excited about coming here, I remember another Cafe Express in Houston that I used to love. Sadly this was not as good. I actually ordered the same Pasta with Shrimp Scampi, and it was cold and the "sauce" felt a bit solidified because of how cold it was. It was also a different flavor and I was not crazy about it. I ordered a tomato soup as a side and it was extremely sweet and a bit spicy. Not my favorite combination. I am not coming back to this place, I don't recommend it either.

We went in for a late weekend lunch and hit the post church crowd so service was slow, but we expected it. We got the chicken pesto sandwich with fries and the turkey swiss sandwich with sweet potato fries. It's a decent cafe and you can expect to get exactly what's listed on the menu, no frills.

Having been to their opening I took my boyfriend back for an after movie dinner date. We ordered the roast half chicken, lemon chicken, and the bruschetta. Roast half chicken was good, lemon chicken pretty good, but lacked some seasoning. The pesto pasta salad side was very dry and had no seasoning at all. We got up for salt and pepper as everything seemed under seasoned this time. I added balsamic vinegar and oil to the pasta salad to liven it up a bit. The bruschetta was the biggest disappointment as it is just bread, not toasted, smeared with roasted red peppers and pesto. The manager came by and we shared our thoughts on the bread. She did offer to take it off the bill, but we ate it so we said it was fine. She did say however they had no way to toast bread. This seemed weird as they cook entrees and have grilled chicken. Both seem like ways to toast bread, and seem especially weird to not be able to toast in a place that sells sandwiches.

This is definitely a nice spot for a quick fresh lunch! They have a lot of salad, sandwich and soup options. Everything tastes pretty good, but nothing necessarily stood out to me. I wish the chicken pesto sandwich was more toasted and the cheese was melted. I had to ask them to heat my sandwich up because it wasn't warm as it should've been. The Caesar salad tasted pretty standard. I did enjoy the dressing they used. My favorite part was the macaroni and cheese. It tasted like good quality cheese was used and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a lot of seating open and it had a very cute and modern vibe to the place. You order at a counter and get a number before sitting down and you get your food delivered to you. There was no one in like when we went so we ordered quickly and got our food within 10 minutes. If you're looking for a quick lunch spot with a variety of options I would recommend this!

A lot of health options. Food: Good. Service: OK. Cashless available. Plenty of staff. Environmental: new, clean. Outside patio.

Take out area. Zoom in and you can see my order that should of been on the shelf to the left. Waited 10 minutes to find that out.

Piss poor service to start with. First time visiting so when I walked in I wasn't sure how to get the online order we placed. Once I made to the register the gentleman showed me where to wait. When I first walked in I saw a bag on the counter and assumed it was someone else's but after being there nearly 10 minutes, the bag I first saw was actually our order, so express at preparing they are but not at placing the order in your hands. When I made it back to the office I got a turkey club instead of a chicken salad. Not impressed at all. What food I did get was good but it wasn't what I wanted. Dine in if you want to try this place that way you can send it back if it's wrong.

What is this!? I paid $17 for this entree and this is the amount of rice they gave me. This is ridiculous. Very disappointing, because I usually enjoy this place and visit often.

I was very impressed with the meal and it seemed to be a pretty healthy choice at such a good price point. The steak was real slices of lean steak that actually tastes like a steak and not rubber. Fruit cup was very fresh and way better than any I've had at other restaurants lately. I wasn't a big fan of their teas, but they're gonna take some getting used to. Service was fantastic with our server (Will) being very knowledgeable and friendly. Drinks and food arrived quickly and were fantastic - the drinks were on point, the food ample in quantity and flavorful in taste. The Fudgy Brownie was divine! Well-done! As I mention above, the final tally was a bit shocking. Otherwise, a great place to hang out; planning to return to avail of the Mon/Tue $25 Wine and Bruschetta Board special.

[EDIT only to correct to "Postino"]…read more I use the one-stars sparingly, I really do. This has nothing to do with the food, as we never got that far in the course of my miserable experience at this location (not sure if it's a chain or not). Walked into a relatively quiet restaurant somewhat later in the evening after strolling a bit in the summer Houston heat around the Woodlands. A couple of people recommended Postino. The issue arose when I asked for a possible menu modification. Specifically, I was trying to avoid GOAT CHEESE on the meatball dish I had my eyes on (which otherwise looked pretty tempting). The server indicated that they probably couldn't do it but I nevertheless requested this... a couple of minutes later the server returned with the bad news. Apparently, it simply had to be served as-is, according to the menu. This in itself wouldn't have got me to the point of writing this review. However, I, incredulous, was kind of laughing (you have to laugh) and said something like "so I can only order exactly what's on the menu, and the kitchen can't do anything different?" (slight paraphrasing, perhaps). There wasn't much further conversation with the server but within about 30 seconds of this exchange, a "manager" stormed over to the table and borderline-abusively shouted "is there a problem?!". This "mini-manager" as I will refer to her, proceeded to inform me that they could NOT accommodate changes because it would "violate the integrity of the restaurant" ... I of course I also found a bit humorous, and in this state inquired further about what sense it made to be so obnoxiously strict for someone just trying to grab a quick bite about 30 minutes before closing. I'm sensitive to the work involved in running restaurants and serving obnoxious customers, but I was NOT rude, obnoxious, or difficult. Just blown away by this treatment. I was then informed by the mini-manager that she was from LONDON which I assume meant I should accept that her cosmopolitan background and (I assume vast and high-level culinary experience) meant that I should shut my trap and stop being so picky. At this point I was compelled to mention that I, too, grew up overseas and was very surprised at this complete lack of flexibility. Within another 30 seconds or so of this dialogue, the mini-manager tipped the menu over on the table and abruptly shouted, "you know what, I'm refusing you service!" That made it all easy from there as we promptly (while laughing, partly out of shock) exited the facility. Huge disappointment and embarrassing in my view for a restaurant that seems otherwise to have maintained a great reputation - and especially so for the fact that service (and people in general) in Houston tend to be kind and accommodating, not typically RUDE or reactionary. I'm encouraging this restaurant to have a look at the service model. I can't say I'll try Postino again the next time I'm in Houston, but I certainly hope it continues to truly earn its 4.5 star rating, 'cause they sure did NOT when I was there this weekend.

1-Star Review: Absolute Disaster - Never Returning to True (False) Food Kitchen…read more We had one of the worst dining experiences imaginable at True Food Kitchen. We ordered our food, and it simply never came. After a long wait, our Brazilian waitress kept stringing us along with repeated false updates about how soon it would be ready. She left us hanging the entire time with zero accountability. What made it even more infuriating was the staffing situation. There were visibly more servers and kitchen staff than actual customers in the restaurant. Yet somehow, nothing was getting done. We watched plates of other customers' food sitting in the pass window for over 10 minutes while seven different servers casually walked right by, letting it sit there getting stale and old. Our server in particular seemed completely disinterested in doing her job--she had zero urgency or care for our table. The cavalier, neglectful attitude from the entire team felt like a systemic problem, not just one bad shift. It was as if the restaurant's "healthy, mindful" branding was just a front for pretentious, ill-mannered service that couldn't care less about actually delivering on basics like getting food to the table. We finally flagged down the manager, who at least gave us straight information: our order would still be another 10 minutes on top of the already excessive wait. At that point, we'd had enough and left without eating. This place is a nest of neglectful incompetence. Between the false promises, indifferent staff, and total disregard for customers, we will never patronize True Food Kitchen again. Save your time and money--go somewhere that actually values service.

This place was listed on InKind so I thought I'd give them a try…read more I ordered 2 chocolate chip cookies to go. We waited at an empty table. A little fly came by to hang out with us. The cookies finally came in a brown bag that was taped at the top, so I didn't rip it open to check my order. I mean, it was a simple order and they only have 1 type of cookie on the menu. When I got home I had one cookie that looked like a chocolate chip cookie and another cookie that didn't show any resemblance to a chocolate chip cookie. But I get that sometimes the chips are hidden inside. So I didn't think twice. Well, I can confirm that second was devoid of any chocolate chips. I took mini bites to see when I actually might encounter an actual chocolate chip. But I got nothing. I double checked my receipt and it says chocolate chip cookie and chocolate chip cookie, each @ $2.95. I double checked the menu thinking maybe they gave me another type of cookie but the menu only lists chocolate chip for cookies. So how on earth does a chocolate chip cookie have zero chocolate chips? I think that takes some serious skill to make one without a single chip in it. And I actually might not complain if it was still an awesome cookie nonetheless, but it was a far cry from that. It was a tasteless soft lump of dough. And clocking in at $3 that's just not right. Does this establishment have no quality control to prevent something like this happening? I don't think I've ever experienced something like this at a place charging this much for a cookie. And even commercial establishments like Walmart do a better job. I don't know what "true" means in their name, but for me it only meant only one thing: true disappointment.
