Food has always been very good and friendly staff. Much Cleaner than most other places I have been to.

We had the curry chicken and beef stew, rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. Food was great, amazing value, friendly service. There were clean tables-very casual order and grab a seat, easy to park out front and right at the train station. Would definitely go back. Huge portion for the cost. Awesome leftovers. read more

Took it home put it on a pretty plate and had it waiting for hubby as if I cooked it, he loved it and immediately knew I did not cook it. Meal was very good. I ordered the sweet and spicy chicken with rice & peas, steamed veg, and sweet plantains for delivery. The chicken was spicy, so if it you can't handle heat, don't order it. The portion size great. I took off one star because I was looking for the authentic Jamaican rice and peas flavor with coconut milk, but it wasn't there. Food is decent. The only good thing they really ever have is the stew peas on Wednesday which gets sold out seemingly after the first few hours of the place being open a majority of the time. They never have anything in stock in general, lots of the time I go there and have to ask for 3 or 4 different items before they can finally tell me they have it in stock. I just don't understand how you can run a business that runs out of product the first few hours being open. read more

Just received an order of oxtails and peas and rice from Uber Eats and this food is hands down the absolute worst Jamaican food I have ever eaten. I received a plate full of bones with no meat on them and the rice tastes spoiled! It's this location because I've had favorable experiences at other Island Jerk locations. Only place I'll get West Indian food from on Long Island. Their curry chicken is good. Their oxtail is good. Their fried chicken is good. Their patties are good. I haven't had anything else, but those items I mentioned are bomb from Island Jerk. Attitudes of workers aren't always the greatest but it's kind of an expected experience in any Jamaican restaurant you visit. Really disappointed here. Was in the area from out of town and had a few hours to hang around so I looked up Jamaican restaurants. Wanted to order jerk pork but they had none left, so I ordered Oxtail w' rice n peas, plantain and steam cabbage. The rice was very tasteless and the oxtail was a N-O for me!! It was tough!! Every real Jamaican knows Oxtail should be falling off the bone!!!! . And not ONE butter bean was deh inna my plate! I'm also a caterer and I have to say I have a good eye for food... the presentation looked great but when I opened the bowl, I KNEW the oxtail wouldn't be good. I could see the firm look of the meat before I even touched it. A WASTE OF $28! The best part of my meal (that I didn't even eat), was the This is It Mango lime juice . I waited 34 years to try this cuisine, and I kind of wish I had lived my life differently. Every single thing I tried, from oxtail and jerk chicken entrees to the rice and vegetables that came with them to the beef patties, Mac and cheese, and dumplings I ordered on the side, was bursting with flavor. The textures of each item were on the money as well. Nothing was dry except my plate when I was done eating. GOOD FOOD!!! read more

This place is great to try authentic Jamaican cuisine, my favorites are the salt fish with green bananas and sweet potatoes, it's delicious but you have to get this early as it must go fast. Usually great food and great service. However on my last visit I was served with Rudeness. Attitude for no reason at all. One of the workers sitting in eye view of the door had to be told by another employee to help me. Then I had to repeat my order 3 times. Then was told they had enough for a small. When I asked if I could split the small with another meat I was told it's too expensive. She says way too expensive $4 more. I don't know why she told me what I can afford. Just not a good experience at all. Sad what happens when you try to support your own kind. I'll have to find a new spot to get food. I'm never going back! read more

The food here is really so good especially for being so deep in Long Island. Make sure when you go get the ox tails and ask for extra gravy they are so nice about it. They'll even time your order for you if you call it in, if you're taking the train so you don't have to wait for your food. If you're driving there's parking lot with tons of spots available. I've also had their Brown Stew if you can't tell I've ordered from here at least 10 times already and I just moved to the neighborhood a few months ago. read more

I've visited in the past and was met by the same rude attitude. Needless to say we won't be returning. New branch near the Wyandanch LIRR opened. Past few years have enjoyed takeaways of jerk chicken, empanadas and escoviche seafood from the store on Deer Park Ave. this new store is more modern and staff seem to be more coordinated in taking orders. Low stars due to the food, though. Chicken did not have the authentic jerk spices and fish dry. The beef empanadas though were amazing - 4 stars for that one. Went to the beautiful new location at the Wyandanch Plaza feeling excited about Island Jerk's return to my community, unfortunately after two visits, I will never return. The server/staff are rude, unprofessional and super-slow. They engage in personal conversations with other staff and customers, then as an afterthought ask if your being helped despite the fact your standing at the counter looking right at them, and there's no other employee around. The first time I ordered, the food was barely warm and very dried out the cashier seemed overwhelmed. But it was a Thursday evening and they were very busy. Giving them them the benefit of the doubt I returned on a Sunday evening between 6-7pm, only one other customers was inside ... server takes their order and disappeared into the back after 5-10 min. Several other customers entered, a young man comes out of the back and engages in a personal conversation with a young lady about her grandma, she gives him her fairly large order and as he starts to walk away, he noticed the look on my face and I said to him that I was next, to which he replied "I got you", I told him what I wanted and he disappeared. Over the next 15 -20mins. different employees appeared and waited on customers who got there food and left.... I was still waiting on my small order. Eventual the young man who had taken my order emerged with several plates and started to bag them...he motioned to the young woman that her order was ready, seeing this I stepped to the counter and inquired about my order to which he looked at me and said "I can only wait on one customer at a time" as if I was annoying him...needless to say I cancelled my order too which he replied "have a good day" very sarcastically. When I told other people in my community about my experience I was surprised to hear this was not an isolated incident... So to the owners I say this .. "your staff needs training in customer service", not every customer is going to be their friends or realitives, as a consumer we demand better service in Wyandanch/Wheatley Heights or we will not frequent nor support your establishment. read more
