I hadn't been to an Islands Restaurant in so many years! I used to mostly go to the Manhattan Beach location and then once to the Howard Hughes location. Today I met three friends here. We had a good time catching up and eating our burgers and sides of onion rings, regular fries, and sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed my Pipeline burger with chili and onion rings. Sommer, our server, was very nice and attentive. I think I've stayed away from Islands for much too long! read more

Don't eat at this location! I've been a regular customer here on and off for years and their service and quality is always inconsistent. Every time I order takeout they get something wrong and today was one of those days and probably the last time I'll order from this location ! I ordered fish tacos and I received my order with only old cabbage and a hard cold tortilla like it was old. My fries also came hard and cold, I will not be eating here again because their quality of service is inadequate. Our friends decided to go to Islands on a rainy day (2/1/24). The experience was great as you can tell by the 5 stars that we gave. To begin with, the customer service was excellent. The waitress was very patient, despite the group taking a while to order due to many delicious options. Also, during the meal, the waitress would causally check in to see if we needed anything else. - No complaints whatsoever. Second, The food was DELICIOUS!!!!!! The Beachside Sliders, Truffle Fries, and Chips & Guac were all a HIT!!!!! SOOO MUCH FLAVOR!!!! Last but not least, the Ambiance gives a Hawaii vibe, which the group loved. The prices have gone way up, but the food is still okay. The happy hour is just fair. No real healthy options on that menu. The slider buns are awful. Probably Kings Hawaiian chemical garbage. They should use pure brioche buns or ciabatta. That bread is horrible. Cutting prices and serving chemical buns is here. The burger buns need a serious upgrade. Not good at all. I still like the North shore tacos. If it were not for those tacos, I would not go there at all. I do fear that the tortillas are full of chemicals too. I try not to think of it. Easy on the salt! BUT the iced tea didn't get delivered. When I contacted Postmates/Uber for help, they said that my order items didn't qualify for refund. I haven't been to the Islands Restaurant in a long time. They were busy but the service was great. Their burgers are still good, but they no longer have my favorite is no longer on the menu. Located in Redondo Beach, California, this Island's is very good. Island's is a small chain so it differs little from place to place. But the service can be lacking in one and great in another. We were just at this one. It seems we have been eating at a lot of Island's lately. My grandson loves the place and he tends to get what he wants. The food is super. They have upgraded their meats and their burgers are wonderful and you have a selection from which to choose. They also have great sides and their nachos are the bomb. Parking is easy and the service was very friendly and they checked on us several times. We had this wonderful brownie desert with ice cream and boy was that good. The place was super clean. My only concern is that they need to make people wear their masks or take their life threating germs elsewhere. We saw people waiting to sit, no masks. Now, this is illegal and must be enforced. We dined in at the Hawthorne location on Sunday, 5/19/24. We waited for a couple minutes to get seated which was nice. We arrived during lunch time and the restaurant was packed. We got seated and our server came to ask for our drink orders and appetizers. We ordered the nachos and chicken wings. For 9 pcs of wings, it was a little over $20! Wow! But my son enjoyed it so that's fine. The nachos was delicious but it didn't have enough chips. Otherwise we enjoyed it. We ordered the Hula burger added bacon, longboarder, and Moa Crisp. We enjoyed our meals and the sides as well. The truffle fries was good with the aioli sauce on the side. It was very garlicky. If you like garlic, try the truffle fries. I enjoyed the Moa Crisp chicken sandwich. The chicken was crunchy outside and moist inside. The only thing was that the table was dirty. It hd a piece of hair on my side and I just put a napkin over it so I didn't have to see it. The menu was also not clean but otherwise we enjoyed our experience and food. The service was good also. The bathroom was clean and flushed really well. That's always a plus. The ambiance was cool and relaxing. They are located across from Southbay Galleria and they have plenty of parking available. It is hard to come by good service these days. That is why my preferred restaurant to dine out in a family friendly environment is Islands specifically the Hawthorne blvd location! Our preferred server is Rachel! She goes above and beyond making sure we are taken care of. Dining in her section feels like you are with family. River who makes sure our table is ready in a timely manner contributes to my love for this establishment and the manager Tanya is always a sweetheart checking in and making sure we are receiving exceptional service. Went to a different food place & ended up walking out not ordering as the service was terrible, instantly my sister & I thought about Islands in Redondo for a couple reasons, the great menu selection, specials and amazing service. With me being a manager I know many times people forget to mention the good, so I made it a point to ask for the manager - I told the Manager that our server Adrian was exceptional , he was super busy working lots of tables & very attentive, friendly, he asked about food allergies. He was exceptional & I had to take a moment out to say so. Also the Big Wave Burger special is amazing - quality food, can't believe such a great price. So happy we came here; the host was extremely friendly. ( unfortunately didn't get her name ) we waited 5 mins for a party of 7. Not bad at all for a Saturday evening! I wish I gotten peoples name but didn't. Everyone here was amazing and friendly. They were so sweet to the kids; and they kept checking on us. The food was delicious; expect the wings felt bad because they were so sweet so we didn't say anything. That's the only thing we didn't like didn't eat it. Islands was unfortunately our last option but it was incredibly delicious! Ive been trying to lessen my red meat intake and I was so happy to see the impossible burger option! It was so delicious I couldn't tell the difference. I was extremely satisfied. The onion rings were nice and crispy. I got a side of chips and salsa with guac (extra charge) unfortunately the guacamole tasted old. And definitely not worth the extra $. The wings were great a little spicy but bearable. The sweet potatoe fries were nice and crispy as well! The food did take a while to come out. We went on a double date with some cousins. They got their food 10 minutes before us. I got my food right after but my partner got his last. He was so close to canceling the order because we were already half ways done and his food was still not out. My father-in-law and I have been going here for a couple of months now when we get together for lunch. It is now our "go-to" Islands for several reasons. First the parking is great since my FIL uses a cane and walks slowly. Second, the staff is friendly. Third, the food is very good!! Our server yesterday was Erick and he was fantastic!! My FIL had the tuna melt, which is not on the menu and he really enjoyed it. I had the Baja chicken bowl and everything about it was great!! We ordered spicy Buffalo wings and asked for them extra well done.They came out so good. Nice and crispy on the outside and the meat wasn't dried out. We both ordered burgers and asked for them medium well. The both ended up coming out looking medium rare, not even medium. This was disappointing as we don't like to bother and send food back when it comes out wrong like this. I had been craving a burger so it was a letdown when I wasn't able to properly enjoy my burger. We didn't end up finishing the burgers. We of course enjoyed our basket of fries. Service was great. First and foremost my Server was Raul. His service was above and beyond good. He was very Attentive to my request friendly and pleasant. Not to say the most that he was the only server working the bar area. I ordered sliders they were okay. I ordered a cocktail. Yesterday I got to stop in and try this Islands with my cousins. When we walked in it was pretty packed but they sat us right away. The staff was very polite and got our drinks out quickly. I tried a sunset margarita and it was pretty good. I ordered a Moa Crisp and it came with fries. The sandwich was pretty good as well! I love Islands in general, always have. My last couple of visits to this location have been for online order pickup. The process is pretty simple and straight forward and the food is packaged well so it tastes as good when you get it home as it would at the restaurant. This time we order some regular items; Yaki Tacos, Hula Burger, Fries & Rings. But the star was a new item, the Chicken Flautas! They were fantastic, lite & crunchy with plenty of filling and topped with guac & cheese :) :) :) Next time I'm just going to get an order of these as my meal! Everything else was great as is expected from Islands. The parking lot is good sized but can get congested plus the spacing of customers at the door and waiting for patio seating could be better. read more

After being contacted by Theresa, she sent me a gift card for $20 due to the experience I had the last time. I returned last Wednesday around 4 PM. I was greeted immediately and was offered where I wanted to sit. The waitress came over quickly and asked if I wanted anything to drink and pointed to where the menus were. I wanted to order the chicken wings and was torn between the sauces. The waitress was very kind and suggested that I got the two sauces I wanted on the side I must say that was a great recommendation. Not only did it give me a chance to try both of the sauces, but the chicken without the sauce which I enjoyed immensely. The chicken was cooked properly nice and crisp and juicy on the inside. I highly recommend this I did get the larger portion as I always like to take something home for later or the next day. There was plenty of food for that or at least it came with carrots and celery, and those were good as well and some ranch sauce, I was checked on numerous times to make sure I didn't need anything else and when I wanted to take my food to go I was promptly brought a box for that and little containers for the sauces. the ambience was very nice plenty of seating room for everybody. They have numerous TVs on that have different shows on from games to surf to you name it so you have many options of things that you can watch if you so desire, the place was very clean. If I were stranded on a desert island and I could only have one kind of food, it would have to be In-N-Out burger. BUT, a close second would be Islands fries. They have a crispy veneer with soft insides. They're so good, and they go great with an ice cold beer. Islands menu has a bunch of burgers to choose from, along with sandwiches, tacos, and salads. I've had all of these on various visits, and all were right on. This past visit I had the Maui burger. It has guacamole on it. And as you all know, you never balk on the guac. My girlfriend had a naked burger (no bun) and she devoured it in no time. Our guest decided to just do dessert, but she managed to pilfer some of our chips and dip. Which was ok cause my girl got into her ice cream. What's fair is fair. Our server was Marley. She was excellent. Perfect as a matter of fact. Sweet, polite, and professional. Kind of like my girlfriend. Only from my girl, I don't get a bill at the end. There are a number of tv's throughout the restaurant showing sports. We got to watch the Dodger game in comfort. I say in comfort, because the last time we were at Islands, was during Covid and we had to sit outside. The Dodgers were playing on that occasion too. No one was seated inside, but the game was on the TV, and the blinds were closed!! So I did what any reasonable Dodger fan would do, I snuck inside and pulled up the blinds. I then returned to my exile outside, in the cold, with two complaining females. The Dodgers won, but I didn't fare as well. I was cold too. The novelty of the quirky surfer vibe at Islands is half the fun of dining here. Surfing videos streaming on the tv screens (when there is no popular sports broadcast), a menu featuring silly island jargon that cleverly describe the food all served up in or on parchment lined baskets or other vessels indicative of a casual dining experience. But........ Appears Islands is making an attempt to distance themselves from the casual table setting for more mainstream plates and platters. For those of us who "grew up" with the Islands quirkiness, the departure isn't welcome. When you have to ask for 4 sides of blue cheese dressing because the new dipping sauce containers are just a smidge bigger than a thimble and too shallow to dip anything in...that's an inconvenience. Food items crowded on small plates or worse, sitting alone on plate that's obviously too large...that's nonsense. I'll always laugh at the straw ban. But that's not Islands fault...ask and you too can have a paper non recyclable sipping mechanism. On a positive note, the Lava Flow mix has been revised so it does have a richer more coconutty taste. It's good, but after one you'll begin to feel as if you're drinking suntan lotion. I guess I should only drink one anyway, so there's that. read more

Not sure if a bad cook or just a bad item but it was super wet like cheese juice was oozing out and it wasn't burger juice and was actually quite the turn off. Wow! Do not come here with anyone on the spectrum or special needs :( they treated our friend HORRIBLY for having special requests as simple as a side of grilled onions for his fries. After having a hard time giving our order to the insufferable Amanda, who rolled her eyes at us and made us repeat our special requests to write them down, she still managed to mess up our order entirely leaving out almost every inclusion we asked for. After all of that effort communicating our needs while she was impatient and rude, the other staff members who corrected our wronged order treated us just as poorly, rolling their eyes at us and tossing food on the table while walking by. I completely lost my appetite after dealing with the staff here and we left in a bad mood after going for a nice relaxing time. Management needs to add incentives to behave professionally and treat those on the spectrum or with special needs with common courtesy and human decency. It WAS NOT BUSY. 4/10/25 at 4:30pm.
