On the one hand, they were very welcoming and had time for me immediately. They answer their phone, which is nice. The staff seems lovely. On the other hand, the cuticles on two of my fingers bled. The color was great, but didn't go all the way on the sides of each nail. Plus, they only take cash, Venmo, and Zelle. (They have an ATM in there.) is the problem that I don't get gel? Are my cuticles somehow "too sensitive?" I wish I could like them, but I left sad. I paid $35 for a regular manicure. I gave her an $8 tip. I don't know why. This place was good (not great) a year ago. My husband and I have been going for pedicures. They have been steadily going downhill. Cash only. Random pricing (same service costs different amount each time). We decided to give them one last chance today - they were understaffed but for both of us, a pedi lasted 15 minutes and in both cases, once they were finished they got up and went to other customers - we didn't even know they'd finished. Also, they constantly ask you if you want extra services (but they say it so casually you're not sure if it's an add on). If you say no, they pretty much ignore you. Ugly salon, rude employees, overpriced, and shady. Passed by this salon on Montana avenue and figured I would try it out but that was a mistake. They don't post their prices anywhere so you have to ask and while they were a bit higher than average I figured I would give the salon a try. While they were doing my pedicure it comes up they are cash only and point to an ATM that's in the middle of the salon. The expectation nowadays is that all places accept a cashless type of payment and if it's cash only the business needs to tell you from the start or have a sign that clearly states so. I felt that was sort of shady of them. Also, I would prefer to get cash from my bank a block away and not pay fees versus the ATM in their salon but wasn't given that opportunity to do so. All the polishes looked old and the tools they used didn't look great. I had a gel manicure which required removal as well and it took a very long time like an hour and a half. I didn't feel the girl was that skilled. The worst part of the experience is that they constantly hassle you to agree to add ons to pad the bill. They want to add massages, some sea salt treatment for your hands and feet, etc. The girl next to me had to firmly tell them no add ons. After I had paid them they then came back 20 mins later while my pedicure was drying to tell me they forgot to add $10. Luckily I had the $10 and didn't have to pay their ATM service fee again. Their prices are high considering the lackluster experience and so-so pedicure and manicure. The girls are also not friendly and are just looking for ways to make more money. If I could give zero stars I would. Made two appointments for 3:15 - they started on my daughter's nails at 3:45. Before they did I told them that we had to leave by 4:30 and it was okay if they couldn't get us both done but we would need to leave. They said no problem. Finally started my nails at 4:05 and promised they would do both at the same time. Never for the pedicure but they still charged me $65 plus $70 for my daughter. Nail polish was watered down as well. Very disappointed with this experience. Our regular nail salon closed and my daughter and I thought we'd give this place a try. What a mistake! There are no prices posted so we asked. They were more than what we usually pay but we agreed. However, they will nickel and dime you to death with add-ons. $5 or $10 for this or that and if you say no thank you, they continue to badger you. Very unpleasant. The woman that did my manicure was terrible. I asked here to just file my nails. She insisted on cutting them to even them out. She cut them way too short- painfully and uncomfortably short. This is my second time here and from my experience with them I believe that they provide a great service. Mimi, Jan, and Mai are excellent and make me and my girlfriend who frequents this place feel appreciated. I'm very self conscious about my feet and these ladies go above and beyond in making my feet feel fresh and so clean. I don't know if they'll read this review but from the soaking, cuticle removing, buffing, exfoliating with the pumice stone (bet you didn't think I knew that) to the massage they definitely deserve recognition. As I sit here, I realize that I probably should do this more often. From running, playing basketball, and low maintenence my feet and hands deserve this and so do yours. Mai is excellent and this is a great enough for me. I feel relaxed and from my experiences the ladies have made me feel comfortable returning. read more

Wow. It's been a while since I've reviewed a place. But I'm back! And coming in hot with this 1 star review. Let me start by saying because of the Covid situation I totally understand that things have been weird and I feel for all the local businesses. Therefore I'm happy Tracy's nails has reopened and is back in business. However, there were some issues. In the last few months I've been trying hard to only use my card not cash. Given the situation I feel it's a "safer" option. I only had credit cards with me yesterday and was happy my friend Kel came with me. If I couldn't Venmo... cause you know it's the future and venmo is pretty popular if you don't carry around cash or your debit card.... anyways. Kel was going to get money and pay for me. God bless! Thank you. The staff was very kind and attentive. However the issue was with the final product... the nails. Hmm. Not happy. First my nails feel like they've been filed down to the point of where I'm terrified of working with my hands because I think at any moment they will break.. scary and also kinda painful. Next, the color. It was definitely an old bottle of nail polish that had been sitting around. The color was stringy and didn't go on properly. Bubbles were forming and I've never had this happen with a gel manicure ever. I've attached pictures for reference. I know it's Halloween soon but the manicure looks like I've just dipped my hands in a pool of blood. My cuticles are all red and the color is bumpy and not smooth on my nails.. All in all. Not happy with the final product and for the price of my mani/pedi I would have expected more. Okay... I know I might be indecisive about my review. AVOID THIS SHOP --- They quoted me a price for a pedicure $25, which I agreed but at the end of the treatment they added $10 for just removing my old nail polish (not gel - and most of my polish was already off ) ; note removing old nail polish is a standard for all shops I've been too. They had the balls to even ask for an added tip to the $35 after I disputed the charges. Most importantly, the end result of the pedicure was less than basic. My niece was also with me for a basic medi / pedi. And she was also overcharged. English is not their first language but they clearly understood the agreed price since the shop was empty and the 3 shop girls all said $25. I don't give two stars lightly, but Tracy's Nails delivered one of the worst experiences in quality and customer service I've ever had at a nail salon. I got an OPI gel manicure on Saturday afternoon and by Sunday morning, several nails were already chipped. I hadn't done anything out of the ordinary, however, the technician had failed to paint the tips and sides which keeps the color from chipping. This all sounds silly, right? It's just a manicure. But I spent an hour of my day there. I work with my hands often so it's important for them to be polished and professional. I went back this morning and asked if she could kindly fix three of my nails, but she was so mean about it. She was roughly filing my fingernails down until they hurt. I asked for a refund and she refused. They only accept cash, so my credit card company couldn't help dispute it. Horrible customer service at Tracy's. My nails are in pain and I'll tell everyone to stay clear of this place. One star is being generous! I have been going to this place for a while hoping it would get better but after last time I am definitely not going back. The ladies that did my massage and pedicure were Rude. One was on the phone while massaging me and not only forgot to massage my right shoulder and bruised me, she also tricked me into paying $15 for 15 min when I specifically asked for 5 min massage. As a New York native, I've been pretty disappointed by manicures here - particularly the lack of a table. Tracy's has a table and was such a good find! I felt like it was clean and it was a standard manicure that I am used to. My only "complaint" is that the polishes looked old and disordered. Tracy's is the absolute BEST! They take so many great Covid-19 precautions, and before Covid was ever a thing, I always felt like I was treated with importance and care (and still do during Covid). LoAn and her team are truly the best, I've been coming here for six years. I've tried a few other places too - and I always end up driving back to Santa Monica for LoAn and everyone else. I have been going to Tracy's Nails for so many years that I've lost count. Mai does my nails and I absolutely adore her! She is professional, she always has a smile on her face, and she does an amazing job with my nails (usually gel manicures and a pedicure). Luanne waxes my eyebrows and they always look perfectly sculpted. I've had bad waxing experiences in the past, but I trust Luanne (and her other technicians) fully. I got the "dip" process for the first time. The manicure was good. However, the polish has chipped on 6 of 10 nails within 1 week! During the appointment I was told 3 separate times "gel" is better. I asked how long the The "dip" polish last and told at least 2 weeks. Based on being encouraged to do gel so many times during the appointment, instead of dip, I suspect the technician knew their dip product was inferior. Very disappointing! read more

UPDATE: So I usually come here on weekdays not weekends but today I needed a pedi so I hopped in. It was busy but they were able to take me fairly quickly (some people had to wait 40min or so and they told them 15 which wasn't honest.) Anyways. The woman who took care of me was older and was SO rough. Most painful pedicure I've had ever. she kept gouging my cuticles and it was awful. Then she messed up my big toe and had to re-do it and then reprimanded me saying the last gel pedicure I had was no good...when they were the ones who last gave me a gel pedicure! She kept shaking her head as if I had done something wrong and saying I used the wrong polish and should have used OPI...she was nice but not the best pedi I've gotten. I like this place usually but maybe don't come on weekends and if you do...choose your nail tech very very carefully !!!!! Idk why this place has bad reviews! My one and only experience here was entirely disappointing. I came here for a dip powder manicure before a wedding and my nails were chipped and cracked within 1 hour of leaving the salon. Two days later, the polish is cracked and chipped on 6 of my nails, two of which are completely removed. my nails were not prepped properly because m 4 different manicurists did different parts of the process because they kept taking new walk-in clients that they would attend to simultaneously, despite the fact that I had an appointment. Dip is supposed to last 3-5 weeks. this salon clearly doesn't know how to do it. i wasted $60 and 2 hours of my life. after calling ahead to schedule time to get my nails fixed, I arrive and was told to come back in 30 min because the manicurist was busy. The worst service I've ever received at a nail salon. I brought two friends with me and mistakenly went here without checking the reviews. The only reason I went here is because my eyebrow place is next door. HUGE mistake. I should've known when I asked if we could walk in on a Sunday afternoon, but whatever. Friend #1 - had acrylics on and wanted them off. She then wanted to get gel. They did not listen and instead of taking off the actual acrylic, she just filed it down and cut it really short (the literal opposite of what she asked for) then when the second lady stepped in she was completely rude about it. Then when she asked if the nail tech to help put her slippers on so she wouldn't smudge the nail polish, (the nail tech) she threw a fit about it and said she "doesn't do that stuff". I have been to this nail salon about 10+ times and I would say overall it is inconsistent. Half the time they do a great job, while the other half I'm leaving really annoyed by the quality of work.
