I wanted specifically for my Gel Manicure to match my non-gel pedicure. That didn't happen. For some reason- maybe a language barrier? I couldn't get anyone to understand what I wanted until after when my manicurist told me that i should do the nails first and then try to match the color.... if only she had said that upfront i would have done just that. It wasn't busy at all so I don't know why she didn't take the time to understand what I was asking. Then next thing was that she over aggressively drilled off the gel to the point it was painful. At that point when almost screamed in pain they switched me to another technician who was much better and my nails look great. But the damage has been done and now some of my formally very strong nails are paper thin. This is not what I expected from a high end nail salon. In the end, I tried to pay with a credit card but was told that they preferential not to take credit cards and prefer Venmo or cash. I was hoping to pay with a credit card and really didn't want to Venmo, and that only added to my frustration. read more

So disappointed. I paid $39 for a pedicure, not including tip. It has not been two full days and because it has been so hot, I have only worn sandals. I was at my boyfriend's so decided to try a new place. They were super nice and the shop was lovely BUT my pedicure is already falling apart! This is a very clean place, so high marks for that. But nail tech seemed very confused, and despite multiple attempts to tell her how short, and also what shape (same as they were....) she kept not understanding. After she did one correctly, she checked to see if I wanted all my nails the same as that one... which was... new. I don't know who would want every nail a different shape and length, but ok...? Anyway after multiple attempts to get on the same page, I did leave satisfied, though also noted this is $20-30 more than places up and down the same block.. and then next day the polish started chipping. And I paid extra for DD, so it's supposed to really last. Won't be back. read more

I (unfortunately) forgot the name of my nail technician today, but WOW am I thankful! I wanted these Pinterest inspired flowers for my nails but for some reason they just weren't coming out the way I imagined them (concept and action was correct--but the flowers seemed to have "melted" in the UV light). She kept at it for an hour and I just didn't like them. With the anxiety building up inside, I said what every nail technician hates to hear "I don't like them. Please take them off". She took them off and instead of an angry silence, I felt at ease (and anxiety ridden because I felt bad she started over). We did a simple set which are classy and just enough for me to walk out with a smile. She was apologetic and patient and ended up working on my nails for about 2 hours (in the midst of this, I realized my meter was running up. Another technician took change and added money to my meter!!! I didn't even have to get up, although I offered). Although it was unfortunate the flowers weren't executed, I was still able to walk out happy with my nails. I live in the Valley and I prefer this salon because 1) The price of a gel 2) How long they last. Each set I've had has lasted about a month. I'll be back here. The acetone was left on my nails for so long that my skin is very dry days later and peeling. The removal was done hasty because others were waiting and not a pleasant or caring process. So, I was in between visiting my mother and having brunch, with some time on my hands, wandering around Pacific Palisades when I stumbled upon Lemon Nails & Spa. Realizing that I had not yet treated myself to my summer mani-pedi, and that summer was almost over, I popped in and asked if they took walk-ins (yes!). And how much for a mani-pedi? $35. Sold! The facilities were clean and sanitary. The foot bath was protected with an individual use plastic cover and the tools were in a plastic pouch, appearing to have been sterilized in an autoclave. Currently On the pursuit of looking for a new salon after moving from the valley to the west side. The woman who did my pedi was polite, kind and sweet. The foot massage she gave me was just what I needed! She did a wonderful job and I really enjoyed her energy. My manicurist on the other hand, was extremely rude, especially when I asked her on two separate occasions to remove the gel from my skin before putting my hand under the UV light. Also having to ask her to remove cuticle skin she missed. If you're going to charge $75, then please enjoy your job enough to ensure the customers are happy. Sloppy job, unprofessional, rude, laughed when my phone fell. While I was getting my leg/foot massage, the manicurist was not the least bit concerned with the fact that the shavings from my builders was flying all over my clean and about to be platooned legs. Ironically, she had no idea I understood everything they all were saying. Purposefully I don't let salons know the first time I go, (taking advantage of looking like I would never be someone who speaks multiple languages) I take the opportunity to see if I like the atmosphere/people at a new salon & I can confidently say she and another tech were talking shit about me the entire time. Some people are just unhappy people. I won't be returning. I'd rather drive to Atwater village from Beverlywood than return to listen to nasty women talk trash. Tacky and classless. read more

I asked for a Dip The person who did my nails did not have a clue what she was doing. I also did a regular pedicure. Cost $95 not worth it at all. The pedicure was smudged. The dip on the nails are so thick that it is unbelievable. Two of them already have popped and a third one broken. With tip I paid $115. Their work was not professional. read more

The ladies at Lemon are good, not great. I've been many there many times. If they tell you ten minutes plan on waiting 30-45 minutes. I feel I am super kind and willing to wait 10-15 minutes. Today it was 45. Finally when I got up to leave they were ready to work with me. I believe they know I am a great tipper and the manager/owner was cherry picking and wanted me to work with their senior ladies. Two people came in after me with no appointments and they help them first. This is the second time this has happened. DON'T OVER TIP AND YOU WILL BE HELPED IMMEDIATELY. I am not going back. I didn't know getting my nails done could make me feel so fresh and clean, but Lemon Nails seriously lives up to it's name! Service: This place is awesome. Not only are the employees super accommodating, there are massage chairs with foot spas on an entire half of the room. I got my nails done in one of these and as soon as I sat down I mellowed out. The foot spa actually has some crazy colored lights in it and they add a nice bubble bath to it which is supposedly good for your skin (not to mention fun). I'm completely satisfied with how my french tip came out. The lines are so freaking straight and the lacquer can't get any higher in quality. After putting my hands through an insane amount of abuse (lab work, guitar playing), my nails still look gorgeous. The best part is that it's not that expensive. I didn't get the cuticle treatment so the price was around $8-10. Atmosphere: First off, this place is in Pacific Palisades. Doesn't get much snazzier than that. Secondly, I love the decorations. The citrus theme really comes across. There's a water feature above the door and a cooler for drinks. I came to the grand opening and got to sample some sushi and delicious Vietnamese baked goods. Finally, Giada De Laurentiis from the Food Network was totally here getting pampered. Dude, if it's good enough for Giada, it's good enough for me. This nail thing could get addicting. read more

I've got my own favorite spots in Chicago, but my Cali friend was pretty stoked to see this place had opened. Let's see... It's clean and very comfortable. There's fancy spa chairs for everyone to sit in....for manis and pedis. My friend and I arrived at a busy time for any nail biz ....11am on a Saturday. She wanted a mani while my toes were in dire need of some TLC. It was crowded, but they found a seat for me right away and my friend had to wait about 15-20 minutes for a nail technician. The timing ended up being perfect because the woman who did my pedicure was sllloowwww. She did a pretty good job, but my ADD was kicking in after about 40 minutes. I also wasn't loving how she kept trying to sell me on a more expensive pedicure. $6 to put callous remover lotion on my feet. Me thinks not. My basic pedi came to $25, while my friend's basic mani came to $15. Pretty reasonable. Oh, and it's cash only so make sure you hit up those ATM machines ahead of time. read more

I got a manicure on a whim while visiting Los Angeles and enjoying a Sunday morning in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood. I hadn't gotten a manicure in years, so this was quite a treat for me. I don't know if this is a west coast thing, but I've never seen a nail place without tables. All the work is done on the client while he/she sits in massage chairs. The technician sits next to the client and performs the manicure while the client's hand is on a special arm rest. This was definitely new to me. The manicure was really basic, but my technician gave me a wonderful hand massage that lasted a fair amount of time. For $15, I thought the value of the service given to me was excellent. My manicure lasted almost a full week! I was very pleased with my spontaneous manicure and would definitely recommend this spot. read more

No need to bring headphones at this location since it is not on Sunset but a cute quiet street, Antioch in the Pacific Palisades. However, it was way too expensive for my price point and I felt ripped off. The total process was 2 hours. I went back later and got them removed. This has been my go-to neighborhood nail salon for the past 15 years in the Palisades, but after my last experience there, I do not think I will EVER go there again. I was having a manicure and pedicure there and a customer (an older woman) came in with a small dog that was not inside its carrying case. She sat in one of the spa chairs with the dog on her lap. She was obviously a "difficult" and demanding customer and so the ladies who work there were trying to please her. She had the dog in her lap during her pedicure and then at one point the dog made a barking noise indicating that she needed to use the restroom. The customer told the lady working on her feet that the dog had to urinate. This was when the lady working in the salon then told the customer to HAVE THE DOG URINATE n the tub where customers soak their feet for the pedicure. She said: "Just put her in the water and she can go in the water." The customer did so and it was the MOST DISGUSTING thing I have ever seen at a salon. I told this to the ladies who were working on my mani-pedi and NO ONE said anything to the customer. They eventually said something to their fellow nail salon worker (the one who had told the lady to let her dog urinate in the tub) in Vietnamese (I could not understand them), but the worker seemed completely remorseless. And then, the dog began urinating on the older woman customer who was still holding her in her lap. And then the customer said: "I think she urinated on me" and began smelling her hands and saying, "Yes, she urinated on me." It was only at this point that she asked to put the dog in the carrying case. I normally do not complain at establishments but I told the ladies who were working there that this was completely unacceptable but none of them wanted to confront the customer and she ultimately left without ever being told that it is unacceptable to have her dog urinate in the tub. This must be a violation of several health codes and I have not yet reported this incident, but I will not be returning here even though I have been a regular customer for 15 years. This is really disturbing and over the top. It is an indication that these workers are not being trained and supervised properly. There was a complete disregard for health and sanitation at a basic level. It was a complete cluelessness. And on the customer's part, she exuded such a sense of brazen entitlement. She was also completely unapologetic. It was all so ugly. I would never put my foot in one of those soaking tubs again. read more

Grateful they took me and 2 friends the day of - (I called before - always call before dropping in a nail salon - it's good manners!) .....TLC nails messed up my reservation/appointment I made a week before. (see my review on TLC nails). The shop is nicely kept, nice chairs and color selections. They did a thorough job. I'm used to getting in and out quickly - but considering the circumstances (I called and made the appointment 30 minutes before) - I was grateful to get my nails done (gel manicure, regular pedicure) by the same person in 90 minutes. (Thank you, Nancy!) Prices are a "tad" higher than I'm used to (I live in the SF valley) - but this is Pacific Palisades. $40 for gel manicure, $25 for regular pedicure and $70 for bio-gel (uh.. I'll skip the Bio at that price!) All of our nails look fabulous. I'd go back again if I had the time and in the area. read more

THEN...they ask my very young daughter if she wants a massage while she's waiting for me, which of course she says yes, and then they go and tell me it's $64 when I'm getting ready to leave! They didn't ask me, the mother, if it was okay to give my young daughter a massage, since it's going to cost money. The space was bright and inviting and the girl got to work right away and gave me a basic pedicure. After asking me 3 times if I wanted an extra 15 min foot massage for $15 I finally said "yes". It was so half-assed, I could have done without it. She charged me $40 at the end for everything which is twice what I have paid for better pedicure, etc at other salons. AND, they only take cash or check, which she didn't tell me until after my toes were wet, forcing me to walk in those generic flip flops to the ATM around the corner. Too expensive & rushed.
