Istambul borek has the best Turkish lahmajun in Bergen county, I promise I have tried from many locations and no where else compares. I come here for the service and ambience because it's spacious, clean, and has more than enough tables. The food is out the world, fresh Coban salada and chicken shish as well as lamb adana.

Breakfast. Lunch. And dinner. Everyday. I cannot get enough of this delicious Turkish cuisine spot, nestled near the corner of Andersen Avenue. My boyfriend and I come here for almost every occasion, including night outs for red tea. We love to sit outside and enjoy the ambiance. Tomato paste Soujouk Mozzarella cheese Raisins Ground meat These are just a few of the delicious ingredients that are luxuries of this cuisine. Highly recommend you come try it yourself! :)

Pretty solid baked goods and mezze for lunch. I came out here as a foray into Cliffside Park's "Little Turkey" after a recent trip to Istanbul. We started with some breakfast options: Su borek, simit, and menemen. The menemen was my favorite dish - great soft scrambled eggs doused in a peppery tomato sauce. Su borek had a nice delicate texture. Mezze were nothing I would write home about, but still quite tasty. The babaganoush and cacik were probably the beta of the bunch.

The best Borek in New Jersey! I love coming here every chance I can. Their service is top notch and we are always seated right away. All of the items are traditional Turkish dishes and made perfectly! Great interior and ample indoor seating.

I'll admit, I don't know much about Turkish food, and the one time I've had it (at a better known Turkish restaurant in Edgewater), it was nothing to write about. I found Istanbul Borek & Kebab by accident. It's located on a quiet side street off the main road in CP. When the awning is down, the restaurant looks quaint and exotic. There are always people enjoying a leisurely meal at the tables outside the front. I wanted to join them! The inside of the restaurant is elegant, and made me feel like I was in a nice cafe in Istanbul. The service was very friendly and attentive. Yes, there was a small language barrier with a waiter, but plenty of other English-speaking staff around. Not a problem for me. The food....insert chef's kiss. OMG. They were cooking for their lives in that kitchen! There is so much going on in that menu, I didn't know what to choose. I let the waiter suggest something for me, and they did not disappoint! Succulent, juicy, and well-seasoned kebab and adana. Flavorful rice and veggies. I even ate the salad, which I don't normally do! I also let the waiter pick a dessert for me, because I had trouble choosing. He brought me kazandibi, a creamy dessert similar to flan. Sooo GOOD, especially followed by a Turkish coffee. I left Istanbul Borek & Kebab fat and happy! Next time, I will try a borek!

If you like Turkish breakfast you have to visit this place! The pastries are fresh and delicious, I stopped by for breakfast and I was brought to the verge of tears with my first sip of perfectly brewed tea. Turkish radio in the background took me back in Istanbul!

What I liked most about this spacious restaurant is the old-world atmosphere they have achieved, reminiscent of Turkey. The kebabs were quite tasty, as well as the accompanying bread, salad and rice. Bakery products and cakes are sold at a bakery coun. Kebabs priced at $12-17 are not particularly expensive. They seem to add a service charge of around 15% to the bill. A rather pleasant place to be. Parking at a municipal lot across the street is available.

Nothing spectacular. We came across this place because we realized they finally opened up Lawton Ave. my husband grew up in Cliffside Park and being able to go down this street was a shock to him. Anyway, with the new condos built, we drove through here to check out the place and found this restaurant. We're always down to try something new and so we came here before meeting up with some friends. The restaurant is big...with the left side that acts as a bakery that holds allllll sorts of deliciousness, the back wall an open kitchen, and the rest of the place a restaurant. We were seated right away but the service was definitely lacking... Our waiter took our orders and the food came at a decent time..however, the wait staff started to wind down once you get your food...no one really comes and asks you if everything is ok, what else you needed, or to refill waters. We had to wave someone down to get our check which look a while and it took even longer with the credit card.. While they were friendly, the efficiency wasn't really what I was expecting and I was hoping for better. The food wasn't too bad actually... I ordered a chicken kebab which came with rice and salad and it was grilled amazingly. It was crispy on the outside with nice and juicy on the inside..everything about the dish was great. The good part is that it wasn't an overwhelmingly large plate like some places I've been to. This was the perfect portion, so definitely hats off to the chef. We didn't order dessert even if we wanted to because we didn't know how long it would take to get it to us. I would definitely rate the food at a 4/5 but not the service..service I'd give about a 2.5/5. The price for this place was decent and its also a nice option to be able to sit outside PLUS it's BYOB.

We stopped in just for desserts after glowing recommendations from friends. My husband picked some baklavas and other treats. I asked if they had any gluten free desserts, and the first counter person didn't understand what I was saying. A second person comes to help but gets distracted with something else and then finally a third person come to help me. I asked him again if there were any desserts that were gluten free and I was directed to a rice pudding, almond pudding and chocolate pudding. I ask again if there's no wheat flour, cake base or anything similar. And I am assured that there's nothing of the sort and it's gluten free. I take the chocolate pudding and rice pudding home. The first spoonful of chocolate pudding was amazing and I was in love. I immediately made my husband try it and he asked me what is that texture? There was cake in the middle of the pudding!!!!! Turns out that the chocolate pudding is a triffle. How could someone be so careless with a food allergy?

5 stars Istanbul mix appetizer- combination mezzes : babaganush , hummus, soslu patlican, ezme, lebni I've been to turkey and this mezze tasted authentic and homemade. Nothing is too salty or too much Turkish spices. One appetizer is good for 3-4 people. $18 Adana kebab- the ground meat was well marinated and has an optimum taste. Sumac is also used , it has a slight smoky taste and it made a big difference. The kebab was very tender and has a mild flavor. Served with rice, salad and half piece of lavash. $13.95 Flat bread w/ olives in Turkish evoo- bread was served warm with high quality fragrant olive oil . Turkish olives was small, soft and just right amount of brine. Ive had much saltier ones in Turkey. But i like their olives here because of milder flavor. (Complimentary and free bread refill) Almond pudding- i enjoyed this gluten-free(not dairy free) dessert. It looks like a light yellow gelatin based pudding but it's rice powder base pudding with blanched almonds , sugar and milk . Tasted mildly sweet with a hint of almonds. Then it has ground pistachio on top for garnish. It was yummy! Turkish tea- perfect way to finish a turkish meal . I'm picky with the tea I consume. Their tea is of high quality fragrant tea leaves( not tea bags). and they serve it in a traditional Turkish glass tea cup. Service : deserves 5 stars as well. Cleanliness: 5 stars . The kitchen impeccable bec it is visible from the tables. Ambience: family style. Even though they were busy, the place was not noisy on a Saturday night. I guess the locals ( mostly Turkish customers) don't talk loudly. They also play nice Turkish music.

We figured while we were grabbing the gift card we just had to try a cookie too. When we arrived, there's a couple steps you go down to get into the store. We went in about 10am on a Saturday, and there was about two people ahead of us. We were helped within minutes, and I ordered the Two Chip Chocolate Chip Cookie, while my partner got the Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie. I believe each cookie ran a little more than $5/cookie. We threw the cookies in my backpack, got lost going to Trader Joes, and then went back to the hotel (a 40 minute journey) and to our surprise - the cookies were still warm even though it was raining outside! My partner and I demolished those cookies within seconds. They were warm, slightly crispy on the edges, so many chocolate chips inside and chewy in the middle. If I could describe the perfect cookie this would be it. I imagine this would be delightful with a cold glass of milk. I also noticed several people at JFK with Levain bags, so I'm guessing it's common to stock up and bring home. This is end of day food, or prior day's left-over food from stores and restaurants. The items were supposed to be a value of $15, but the items in the bag were not that value, nor were they in-house baked goods. They gave me 2 stale cut up baguettes, which they normally don't even sell, nor are they on their menu. According to the counter staff person, they order them from somewhere else so they can sell them on the weekends. (So they were baked Friday?) The counter staff person said her boss packed the TGTG bag and there was nothing she could do. I question these baguettes: which kitchen were they cooked in? Someone's home kitchen? I've never seen baguettes sold or baked in Reb's store, only desserts. In fact, this is what Barachou advertises: "Handcrafted choux à la crème, tarts, and viennoiseries -- all made fresh daily." Anyway, what I got were 2 stale baguettes which were cut in half so as to fit in the bag and one croissant (that's fine). The baguettes are inedible, and they can't be price verified because they are not even on their menu. If they're going to advertise on TGTG, then they need to honor the intent of the app, and provide the stated value of yesterday's leftover OR extra dessert items. This was bait and switch. Bait & switch means you advertise one deal (ie "$15 value") but replace it with a much cheaper deal. TGTG customers know they are getting day old or end of day items, valued as such. But they should not be shortchanged and given $5-$8 values that are advertised as $15 or $18. The bag should have had something like a cookie and 2 almond croissants or 3 specialized croissants. Even more disappointing as I have shopped here often especially when she was first starting out during the pandemic. Sorry Reb, but you lost me as a loyal customer. ***editing to respond to owner: I've never had a TGTG restaurant regift another restaurant's goods yet claim they are baked fresh in store. I've also never gotten baguettes that are already cut up for me. Do they do it that way in France? Also does Bread's bakery know that you probably buy their baguettes three for $5 special and then probably resell them at your store? Or do they deliver direct to you as one of their vendors? Just curious.

So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. I've been to others and it is consistent. It's definitely not a bad dessert spot to try.

Let me start with the positives, because there were some. Daniel was excellent--polite, attentive,…read moreand gave solid customer service. Credit where it's due. Now for the madness. Another employee, Kirk--an older gentleman who looked completely out of place--approached and coughed directly over the slice of cake that had just been cut for me. Yes. Over it. At that moment, I honestly wondered if it was intentional. A young woman nearby immediately caught my reaction and went to the back to replace the slice. She handled the situation professionally and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the chaos continued. Kirk later made me a hot cocoa, and when I went to drink it, it spilled on me because the lid wasn't secured properly. At that point, I stopped believing in coincidences. And the cake? The German chocolate cake was terrible--dry AF and nothing like the Grand Central location. Not even remotely close. Between the coughing, the spill, and the subpar cake, this visit was uncomfortable, messy, and disappointing. Magnolia should seriously reconsider who they put on the floor and retrain accordingly--because this location is not living up to the brand. But honestly, I believe the 2 guys had to be the owners. I love a good watch but rolex's while serving Desserts is WILD
