Ito is kinda like a hidden gem. Entryway could be easily missed because it was discrete. Once you walk in, you will be surprised how this dandy place is here. Traditional yet modern feel. Very polite, professional, and friendly staff. White glove service treatment. Pushes in your chair and folds your napkin when you go to the restroom. The beverage director was detailed in explaining every drink. He offered us a complimentary yuzu cocktail, which was delish. I loved all the serveware they plated the courses on. It made every piece stand out and look highly presentable. Ingredients were fresh and instantly prepped in front of us. The chef pays attention to when you finish your course and doesn't make you wait for the next. Our chef didn't interact with us as much compared to the others. It's probably because he doesn't speak english as well since he is from Japan. I came here for my birthday, and they put a candle on my popcorn tasting pudding. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and felt full after.

One of the best omakase experiences I've ever had! I came in with very high expectations after dining at Ito in Las Vegas at the Fontainebleau Hotel--which was phenomenal--and I was excited to see they had a location in NYC. I'm happy to say this experience exceeded my expectations. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, attentive, and prompt. We had the honor of meeting Chef Kevin, who was incredibly gracious and truly an artist in his craft. Every course showcased the highest quality ingredients, with a burst of flavor in every bite. From the appetizers to dessert, each dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted. I especially loved that we were given the option to add additional pieces at the end of the course, and that Chef Kevin offered this before dessert--it was a thoughtful touch that elevated the entire experience. The drink menu is also very well curated, with an excellent selection of sake and other alcoholic beverages to complement the meal. This is absolutely a place I will continue to visit every time I'm in town. A must-try for any omakase lover in NYC.

Truly stellar omakase. Certainly not cheap, but also not the highest end omakase in NYC. The price does strongly match the value, every single piece was stellar, the service was so personalized and beautifully delivered, and each piece actually had thought put into how it was prepared. The standout dish for me was the ikura and uni don, however every piece really did shine including the handroll at the end. I was surprised to not get any eel at all, but that isn't a complaint. The Otoro wasn't my favorite Otoro I've ever had, but the wagyu was stellar, and doubling down with a second piece of uni was actually fantastic! Sake selection is great as is the wine selection, though neither of those is cheap. The vibes fit the space perfectly, we will certainly be coming back!

Simply the best omakase experience in New York (and well beyond). Masa Ito is a true master and he simply creates memorable meals. The service and atmosphere are incredible as well. This is why we keep coming back for years.

Ito was delicious. Everything was melty, sweet and balanced! I'll definitely be coming back. The ambience was more relaxed not like you're super stiff quiet sushi bar. Service was easygoing and attentive.

Ito is a great omakase in Tribeca and perhaps the best value for the cost at $295 for the quality and quantity of sushi. Set in an intimately lit restaurant with the spotlight focused on the courses and chefs, the noise was lively but not loud at all. The staff were very efficient and kind, not intrusive at all. They offered sake pairing with detailed knowledge and generous pourings with each pairing. The appetizers were highlighted by a delicious uni and caviar bowl with the ingredients balancing each other in flavor and saltiness. The omakase itself had typical findings like toro, unagi, hand roll, shima aji - they were all very good. Rice was seasoned and cooked well. I wouldn't say any piece was particularly memorable but the quality was all consistently good. Dessert ended with a sorbet, sweet and tasty. Overall a very good omakase I'd say appropriately priced and consistent, great value for the courses!

The sushi wasn't bad but I couldn't say it stood out above the rest - it's tough competition in the city! All the pieces were pretty decent but nothing was that memorable. I was sadly disappointed in the sake pairing. It was around $250pp yet somehow I didn't like a single one of their sakes, which almost never happens. Not sure I will return given the price tag.

From someone that has went to tons of high and low end omakases. This place is not worth it at all. The ambiance was amazing and the environment felt really welcoming. Chef and Service was a 10/10 On the other hand. The sushi was definitely frozen and not fresh. The quality for a $295 per person omakase was not there at all. I barely ate anything and I got so full towards 3/4 of the whole course. They drench each piece with tons of sauce which ruins the authentic flavor of the fish and they do that to get rid of the frozen fish taste. I'm disappointed because i took my mother here for her bday.

Delicious meal and can't wait to return. This is probably one of the top omakase spot in my opinion. The fish is so fresh and generously sized. You'll definitely leave feeling full. Service was excellent, all the staffs were so attentive and friendly. They replaced my finger napkin as soon as it was stained with soy sauce. Highly recommend a reservation as it was fully booked when I was there for dinner.

Came here for a graduation dinner after hearing about their opening and enjoyed the meal! Half the parties arrived late so the timing was a bit off, but it didn't really affect us too much. Each piece was a generous size and I was definitely full by the end of the meal. The chefs interacted with us throughout and made sure the pieces were to our liking. Mostly had traditional pieces you'd normally see and we got add-ons as well that were suggested. It was definitely more lively and chatty compared to other omakases I've been to but overall a great experience.

This was the perfect experience for my husbands birthday! We are big fans of omakase and wanted to try ITO. We were impressed with the service and the attention to detail. We ordered tea and there was never a moment my cup was less than half full. The food was fantastic, we definitely left full. Everything was so fresh and I loved watching the chefs put it all together. One thing to note, this place has customers who are in larger groups. It got quite loud and other people's eating pace will impact your pace. Our meal took the full two hours because the group next to us took a while to eat between their conversations. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion!

Small intimate Omakasa joint in Tribeca Kevin the chef and owner was amazing everything melts in your mouth but be prepared to get a second mortgage on your house because dinner for 2+ sake was $1071 including tip.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. Now, having said that although the food was decent, there were a couple of questionable choices in the overall presentation and plating and the sauces that accompany the black cod bento box I ordered, which did not actually come in a box. Everything is brought out piecemeal so you don't get an actual meal before you, but a lot of little plates brought out at different times, kinda like the Japanese equivalent of Tapas. We have been to this location twice, hoping the first time was a fluke, and trying to give them a chance only for the second time to be worse. The waitstaff is entirely disengaged from the customers. They rush you through the order process and don't explain any of the menu offerings, such as what is the difference between the different platter options. When they do come over, you are greeted with the sweetness and warmth of an unemotionally flat "What do you want?" After you get your food, no one comes over to refill water and cups are initially filled halfway with too much ice. No one comes over to remove plates afterward, and they definitely show no interest in finding out if you are enjoying your meal in the least. The booth we were sat at had not been cleaned after the last party's use so there was sauce all over, and it got on the back of my pants, which I later discovered while walking home...the joy. After eating comes the best part, they come over with these tablets outlining your check on the screen. Meanwhile, the tablets are strapped to their bodies the entire time. They don't allow you to scrutinize the charges in peace, no, they stand there impatiently for the duration either swerving from side to side of tapping their foot signaling discomfort that you're taking way too long. The funny part is the straps have clips to remove the tablets so it's not like it's impossible to leave the tablet and come back shortly. The whole process feels very rushed and pressurized for you to tip with one of the predetermined button selections, which start at 25%. Ummm, service sucked so no, we're definitely NOT starting there. I guess now we're both disappointed. Eventually, you get no paper receipt for your records even if you ask for it to be printed. And the whole time, the waitstaff is with you judging you on your tipping and not even being graceful enough to restrain their reaction. So no, not going back, and definitely would not recommend as a place to have a good time. Now, if you're looking for an uncomfortable experience served by someone that completely ignores you during your entire time there and expects an exorbitant tip to boot, then yes, this is the place for you!

Do of course I use Yelp to find something that catches my eye close by where we need to be. I found umami Sushi. We usually can't go wrong with Japanese food or sushi. We had no problems finding the place. The description said it was a small restaurant and as we entered the dining area was very small. Our hotel room was probably bigger. That doesn't bother me especially if we get there, there tables for us to sit comfortably. I also trust my judgment when I find a place that seems to be popular by the locals. The restaurant was empty when we arrived. We were the only ones there, but for some reason we bring good vibes to the places we eat because not too long after we placed our order, people started coming in, to the point that the small dining room was packed. I love Omakase style Service and what we ordered was a sashimi/sushi platter for three and two special rolls. I thought I got to choose the rolls but even that was chefs choice. I was just a bit worried that they would give us the cheap rolls like spicy tuna or California roll. The platter came out and it was beautifully prepared with a piece of sashimi for each of us and the rolls the chefs chose, ended up being two of my favorite rolls. The types of fish they selected were also great quality fish. We were lucky to have placed our order before the crowd came in our we might have had to wait a while because how they prepared it would have taken some time. The service was just right. Because they got busy right away, the waitress was forced to attend to everyone and couldn't really socialize with us. In fact when we finished our platter we were debating what we wanted for dessert but the waitress didn't even ask us and instead she just brought us the bill, so we said to ourselves, "I guess we're not having dessert here." So we paid the bill and gave an opportunity for someone else to take our table.
