    Green Tea Creme Brulee

My wife ordered the sushi deluxe while I had the sashimi deluxe. To my wife's surprise they switched one of the options out for snapper, which was very good. Also, the sea urchin was fresh and flavorful while my wife said the scalp melted in her mouth. Tuna was only average. This is common in Japan as well, some pieces are typically better than others and it depends on the place you go. The surprise was the green tea creme brulee. We enjoyed that it melted in our mouth and was not over sweetened. This is one of the best versions I have had.

I feel like there aren't many great sushi spots in SoHo, so finding this place was a pleasant surprise. While it didn't completely blow me away, the sushi was very solid. The ambiance and service were excellent. I'd recommend making a reservation if possible. The sushi platter deals were good, and I'd definitely come back for a casual sushi night.

Post birthday 2025 lunch The day after birthday lunch for party of two summons my taste and enthusiasm to be awaken. Blue Ribbon Sushi has been on my Yelp bookmark to try for a long time and I am finally making progress. This is a small subterranean brick and mortar restaurant with several steps that are not ADA compliant. The exterior is very discreet with a subtle wood carved signage, thus, this business can be easily missed when meeting someone. We did not have reservations, but walked in and were served. There are booths, several sushi chef counter seating and tables in the rear. Sushi sashimi combination $58.00 Six pieces of sushi, nine sashimi and one tuna roll I always have a predilection for platters and combination rather than a la carte or Omakase ordering. I also have a predilection for nigiri (fish on rice), sashimi (raw fish only), than maki (rolls). All were deliciously enticing and fresh that we ordered a second - an exact replica. It was a nice presentation on a wooden plank. I did get my Matcha green tea in a cup, but disappointedly, did not taste the aromatic strong umami flavor that is known as it was very weak for poor quality. Customer service was average attentive. Facilities are available on the premise but small space. Lighting is very dim and somewhat dark atmospheric conditions. High priced which is expected for sushi sashimi, regardless of inflation or stagflation, the Itamae, sushi masters hone the craftsmanship. I suggest parties of three or four to make reservations. I do not suggest large parties of five and more due to the small space. This restaurant is located in South Village, Manhattan and is accessible via MTA NYC Transit.

Today my friends and I were craving sushi, so we decided to go to Blue Ribbon Sushi in Soho. We couldn't book a reservation online since it was a Friday and everything was fully booked, but when I called the restaurant directly, they kindly found a table for three. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate. Every dish we ordered was incredibly delicious, fresh, and flavourful. I especially enjoyed the mochi! The food came out quickly, and we appreciated that the staff didn't rush us--we were able to enjoy our meal at a relaxed pace. Service was super attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Highly recommend this spot. Next time, I'm definitely trying their sushi-sashimi combination platter.

This is a restaurant that I've been coming to for years and have seen this menu change multiple times. But the quality of food, customer service, and overall experience is top-tier, from stepping down those stairs, right down to the last delicious bite! My usual order is Ebi Shumai or Pork Shumani as an appetizer and Unagi Roll as an entree. And with a group of friends, I order the Blue Ribbon Special, which offers an array of sushi, sashimi, and rolls. In my most recent dining experience, I ordered a Maki - Special Rolls, specifically Blue Ribbon. As for my main course, I tried a Ribeye Steak, which is paired with two different types of mushrooms and sauce, along with a bowl of rice. You may be wondering, "Why did I order a ribeye steak in a restaurant specializing in sushi?" And I would respond by saying, "Try it for yourself and immerse in the tasteful art of how they intricately cut the ribeye with the right amount of sauce and mushrooms complimenting the ribeye in one dish" My favorite spot to sit is at the bar since I love watching the preparation of the sushi, sashimi, and rolls. But anywhere you sit is ideal, and it is quite spacious since there are tables further in the back for a more private dining experience. I appreciate that the volume and atmosphere are calm, with light conversations throughout the restaurant This location is slightly tucked away since you have to walk down a few steps of stairs to enter, but it is beautifully decorated and set up to truly immerse yourself in your dining experience

Overall: We went here on a Friday night. We didn't have a reservation, but put our name in and had about a 45 minute wait. We went to a nearby place for a drink until we got a text for our table. After the wait, we were seated at the sushi bar. The sushi was good but unspectacular. I thought the maki rolls were much better than the nigiri. It's a good option if you want sushi and don't have a reservation somewhere, but I think there are other places I would try before going back. Food: 3 Drinks: 3 Service: 3 Value: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Food: We ordered the crispy rice with spicy tuna as an appetizer, the sushi deluxe sampler (10 pieces plus 1 roll), and an extra spicy tuna roll. The crispy rice was very good, with savory rice that had a nice texture and was topped with a dollop of tuna. The sushi platter was somewhat disappointing, none of the individual pieces stood out. The spicy tuna roll was good but very small. Drinks: We ordered a bottle of sake. It came warm and was pretty tasty. There were some other options as well but they were definitely focused on classic Japanese drinks. Service: Service was fine. They were reasonably quick, but refused our request for a knife to cut on the of the apps in half. Not terrible, but would have been easy to accommodate. Value: The crispy rice was $27, the sushi deluxe was $46, and the spicy tuna roll was $14. The maki roll seemed consistent with what I've seen other places, but the crispy rice and sushi deluxe seemed particularly pricy for what they are. This has been billed as a decent value place as far as sushi goes, but I was disappointed in how little we got for how much we spent. I went home hungry and had to eat again. Atmosphere: We were seated at the sushi bar. It was cool to watch the sushi chefs in action.

My wife and I frequently enjoy dinner at various Japanese restaurants. I feel confident in saying that our dinner at Blue Ribbon was truly extraordinary, standing head and shoulders above any I've experienced in the US. The quality of the product and freshness of the fish were outstanding. The presentation of the dishes is artful. At first glance the menu appears pricey, but once delivered to your table you realize dishes are worth every penny and more. Our mackerel sashimi, for example, features the sashimi arranged artistically on the fish's skeleton, but once the sashimi is consumed the fish is taken to the kitchen, deep fried and returned to the table. My wife consumed every remaining morsel. The pickled vegetables I often enjoy at other Japanese cannot compete with the beautiful and generous array of veg at Blue Ribbon. I could go on, but I'll let my photos to the talking. Truly a five-star, extraordinary dining experience compared to other Japanese restaurants. We look forward to returning.

After 25 years I returned to my first premium sushi place. It remained the same, high quality and diversity. You can have omakase or combine your meal. I took a nice sushi deluxe, 10 + a role for $46 + uni and otoro. All was great. Good value for money

Recently went to blue ribbon last minute. It was so delicious. The sushi is very clean and new. The service was very fast and efficient and was a very cute atmosphere with booth style tables. Would 100% go back

Came here for a birthday dinner and the service and sushi were excellent. The entrance is very welcoming and it was cool being able to walk by and see the sushi bar. When we arrived for our reservation we were seated immediately. Our favorites from the night were the crispy tuna rice and the anago eel pieces. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was good as it was lowly lit and had an intimate feel.

Wow! Some of the best sushi I've had in the city! Nigiri came with fun additions such as truffle salt on the pieces all the way to the left yuzu on the rockfish. Hamachi nigiri is a must! Amazing service and awesome spot!

Made reservations here to try some of the sushi! We came at 12:45pm on Sunday and got seated immediately. The place was cozy and quaint, but a little stuffy. I cracked open the window near us and we got comfortable. I ordered the hondo set, 2 bluefin tuna belly pieces, crispy tuna rice and a few others. The hondo set was really filling and you get a generous amount of food for the price ($38). The staff were also very friendly and it was pretty fresh fish, even if it's a chain.

We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.

The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu.
