From the moment we walked in, I loved the ambience. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home. During our visit, I learned that it is a family owned restaurant, which made me appreciate it even more. They also have a sports bar right next door, which I thought was a nice addition. The food did not disappoint. I even had to ask if the family was from Italy because everything tasted so authentic. They told me they were not, but honestly I never would have guessed! The pizza was amazing. I am a huge fan of brick oven style pizza and this definitely hit the spot. The pasta was incredible, the steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it, and the wine paired perfectly with the meal. One of my good friends and I came here together, and I am so happy we decided to try it. It turned into one of those meals you keep thinking about long after you leave. Every time I am back in Pittsburgh, this will absolutely be one of the restaurants I make a point to visit. Thank you for such a memorable experience.

On my last visit, we had a brick oven pizza which was really good. We went with the Margherita and the flavor popped. All of the ingredients were fresh and the pizza was cooked to perfection. A lot of times brick oven pies can come out rubbery and chewy. Not the case here. On another visit we had the charucterie board & it was filled with great cheeses, jams, crackers, and dipping sauces. The steak sandwich as well as the caprese sandwich are some pretty stellar options. The steak sandwich has a really flavorful and unexpected corn pico. Here for it. Caprese in any form is a plus for me. I like that the sandwich includes red onion and a really tasty sun-dried tomato pesto. Venture over to Homestead for this spot. You'll be happy you did.

With the variety of stores and plenty of free parking, it's become one of my favorite areas to go out when visiting Pittsburgh. Burgatory has a full bar and some daily specials, which can add some value depending on which day of the week you visit. We started off with the truffled gorgonzola fries (3.25/5). While the fries were decent, the gorgonzola cheese was a bit too strong for our tastes, so would likely ask for them without the gorgonzola next time. I got their smashburger (3.75/5), which was filling and of decent quality, but the patties themselves weren't the most flavorful. The house chips (2.5/5) that came with the meals were quite underwhelming, and it stinks that they don't have an option to sub them out for regular fries or onion rings. There's definitely a missed opportunity to not even offer an alternative option for a small upcharge, as we were told no substitutions were allowed. Service (4.5/5) was attentive and friendly throughout the meal, and Shane checked in on us several times to ask if we needed anything else. I would rate the food an overall 3.5/5, and since Yelp doesn't allow 1/2 stars, don't mind rounding up in support of a small local chain and thanks to the great service. I would return to try out some of their other menu items and would recommend Burgatory to others looking to try out a local option for burgers in the Pittsburgh area. Hopefully, they will recognize the missed opportunity to allow customers to sub out their house chips for alternative sides in the future.

Not everything was fantastic, but the overall quality of the food items we ordered was well beyond expectations. We ordered takeout, and our order was ready at the expected time. In terms of the food, we were generally impressed. The falafel plate was generally good, but not fantastic. The falafel was a little doughy and lacking in crunch or herb content. The pickled beets on the platter were a very nice addition. So a mixed bag. The mujaddara was excellent, with nicely caramelized onions. The musabaha was interesting and flavorful, but it didn't seem to survive the drive home particularly well. The fatoosh salad was good, with extremely crispy pita chips. That having been said, the lettuce was starting to wilt by the time it got home. Possibly unavoidable. The hummus was excellent, and the spinach and feta pie was fantastic. So generally good food, with a relatively small number of minor misses. Overall, this is a reasonable takeout operation. The room's technology wasn't great - when you were using the tablet to pick another song, the screen with the lyrics would sometimes freeze. Additionally, there were two mics but most of the time the one didn't work and the other one required that you stand in certain spots in the room. It was only $15 per hour to use the room but I'm not sure I would come back and use it.
