I was searching for some grubby grub near the jobby job, and decided to give the meatloaf sandwich a shot at It's Nutts since many others raved about it here. I gotta say, they come through with the flavor. It's got a few different things going on, from the sweetness of the carrots to the spice blend (Is that cardamom or fennel seed I taste? I've always been terrible with spice names.) The sandwich was composed of three moist slices around 5/8" thick each rather than 1 giant slab, with lettuce, tomato, onion and a little mayo on a nice sub roll. I liked the multiple slices because they made for more crispy surface area. I'll definitely be back for more. You can do lunch for about 7-15 bucks depending on how hungry you are. read more

We used to love this place and are disappointd to say that the quality has gone down hill--seriously, down hill fast. The last THREE times we went here (on a Friday night), they were short staffed on waitresses. Two poor girls trying to manager the entire restaurant. What happens with poor service? Poor quality of food... cold and over cooked from sitting under the lamps too long. The pizza used to be the best in town. On our last visit, it was so dry and overcooked, that it cut the inside of my mouth. With terrible service and poor quality food, we're sorry to say... we're done. Was driving home from Trenton on River Road and decided to stop here for some ice cream, especially since the parking lot was packed! Ice cream is homemade, and about 15 flavors were available - the standards plus some non-traditional options (banana chocolate chip, chocolate coffee Heath bar, etc.) Plenty of outdoor seating (where we sat, ordered from the walk-up window), but also an indoor seating and ordering area with food options. Service was a bit slow but not an issue. I opted for the Heath bar flavor and though I didn't taste any coffee, it was delicious nonetheless! Family members also had coffee and chocolate raspberry truffle and also loved their flavors. Will definitely be back when I'm back in the area. read more

I've been to It's Nuts a few times and the food is usually pretty decent, as long as you stick to salads or diner type food. The problem is that their prices are definitely not diner prices and don't actually reflect the quality of the food. As was noted before, this place is short staffed as a rule, so service is hit or miss. On our two most recent visits, it was friendly, but slow, with appetizers arriving long after our meals, drinks taking eons to arrive at the table, and a visibly harried server running around. To me, this all screams mis-management. If you're charging me close to $15 for a salad, I expect you to at least be adequately staffed. All that said, this place has a neat environment and the outdoor ice cream window is where it's at, with seasonal flavors of good hard ice cream. read more

The food is good just a little pricey for the portion. The restaurant is a tad run down. The inside of the kitchen definitely could use a cleaning, as could the counters and entire place. It's definitely not the cleanest place. During my visit on 10/14/19 one of the young cooks with braids in the kitchen wasn't wearing gloves and kept scratching his head and hair. I watched him scratch his braids in the actual kitchen near food when I leaned over the counter to ask for extra dressing. I've had breakfast here a few times. The pancakes can't be beat. The lemon pancakes are surprisingly good. I honestly didn't order them, but I'm glad my friend did, because I got to try them and become a believer. I've also had the fried chicken, which is so good I could eat it every day. It's crispy and juicy, and it's perfectly flavored with herbs and spices. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I'm going to give the pizza a very good rating. Not great, but very good. The crust is too crispy for me, and they might be he really overlooked. Having said that, I've eaten the pizza here several times. Now, I have to say that the decor is great by far. It's a very old layout that could surely benefit from a designer's touch, or a consultant's advice. The first thing you will find here is the energy in this place is just fabulous. Probably because of the staff and the location. As of the food it's not astonishing for sure but you will not have anything to complain, the only problem is hey accept only cash ..strange! Went here about 3-4 times, for me the best part was the pink colada raspberry soda :) that was just awesome. Definitely recommend for an early morning brunch/breakfast or the evening snack. Yum! This place is along the side of the road and looks like it has been there for decades. Thankfully it still exists! The food is straight out of the family kitchen. Classic American staples likes burgers and sandwiches and hand spun ice cream shakes. The good sized out door seating area is just begging for summer, and to be honest I am looking forward to a return visit come summer so that I can enjoy the ample Ice Cream menu. I found this place thanks to Yelp. Seriously, have found more great eats in random places thanks to Yelp on my iPhone. Awesome. I enjoyed a plate of onion rings and the meatloaf sandwich, which thankfully did indeed come wrapped in bacon. The sandwich was HUGE and delicious. The rings were crispy and tasty and not overly greasy. My dining companion ordered the 2 piece fried chicken. It was crispy, savory and not overly greasy. We both ordered milkshakes and the presence of flavorful syrups was delightfully evident without being sickeningly or cloyingly sweet. I really enjoyed the homey-ness of my meal and the consistency and simplicity of It's Nutts. Definitely a keeper. read more

Perhaps you've been to an ice cream parlor on the boardwalk where the sundaes are made with love and the portions are generous. It's Nutts is the opposite. Every year, we end up getting some ice cream there, and every year we're reminded why we drive miles farther to Newtown, New Hope and Pennington when we want ice cream. Sundaes consist of 3 walnuts and a tablespoon of chocolate sauce. If you want whipped cream, ask again. And again. Sorry, no cherries. Where do you think you are? Oh, yes -- It's Nutts. One year, they couldn't make a milk shake: it was a runny mess. No, it was just chocolate milk. I used to think It's Nutts' counter problem was just a lack of training, but the service is so consistently bad that I now believe they must train them that way. At the shore, I'll often get the kid's size and am still surprised at the lavish amount of ice cream. Not a problem at It's Nutts. If you've ever longed for the chance to pay $3 for a golf ball of ice cream in a tiny dry cone, you'd be nuts to go anywhere else. The ice cream itself is good, however, they hardly had any of the toppings that were listed on the menu, and also didn't have any soft serve or custard that was listed on the menu. No hot fudge. Rode past many times always saying we're going to stop one day. Well, today we stopped for breakfast while out on the motorcycle. Had the meat lovers omelette that comes with home fries and toast. Well the name says it all, "It's Nutts" I've been here quite a few times, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's not. You never know from visit to visit. The food is generally good, and this place is a local favorite. The ice cream is good. It's not always the venue that's at issue, one day you have a fine relaxing bite before you head up the river road for a drive, another time it could be slammed with families and their young unhinged hungry kids. Nutt's is a classic roadside stand, all grown up to be a place for pretty good eats. There's nothing fancy here but the food is A-OK. Sadly the huge mural of the local canal path no longer graces the wall inside. Now there's a series of blackboards listing the specials covering the space. We have dinner here about once a month with a group of friends. Burgers, o-rings, monster salads, juicy fried chicken and more have been enjoyed. Home fries had definitely been sitting, not fresh, my triple stack of plantain pancakes was mostly white flour with a few pieces of plantain in the center, the middle pancake was burnt on both sides, gross. My girlfriend said her omelet was OK, nothing special, the only thing noteworthy about this place was that the staff was super friendly and cool, but the food was a bust and that's at the top of the list. Location: Easy to get to, along Rt. 29 in Titusville, NJ just north of the Washington Crossing bridge. The place is quirky and the seating fills up fast at lunchtime, but they keep the traffic moving. It was an ice cream joint back in the day and probably something else too, but it's been adapted easily to the current format. Service: friendly, quick and attentive. The waitresses always remember us even though we only go about once a month. Food: I've had a few things from the menu and they are all excellent, but the star attraction is the tomato pie. It has shockingly and quite handily replaced both Delorenzo's of Trenton as the best of the best tomato pies, and it's not even close. From the fresh, chunky sauce to the thin layer of cheese to the perfectly finished crust, it's perfection. I like it with a little hot sauce to give it a kick but if you're in the mood for heat the hot pepper and pepperoni will get the job done too. The funny thing about the tomato pie is that it's an alluring yet peculiar animal; depending on when you eat it, the flavor experiences a metamorphosis as it cools. Like an emerging butterfly, it's delicate and playful but perfectly evolved to do what it's supposed to do. Perfection if there is such a thing. Price: Who cares? I'd pay double, it's that good. No joke. I drive 50 miles from Easton for this, and I can't get there fast enough. Had my last birthday here - best birthday lunch ever. It took 45 minutes to be seated. In fairness, they claimed that they were short-staffed, which I believe, based on the appearance of things and that it was Father's Day. Interesting ambiance (in a good way). Friendly service in spite of the fact that my mother-in-law was acting like...well...my mother-in-law. Had chocolate chip pancakes. They were good, but they lacked the chocolate flavor one should expect with chocolate chips. Corned beef hash was excellent! It had an almost creamy flavor to it. Very unique. Most of their desserts are imported from the city, with the notable exception of their ice cream. I had the baklava, which was pretty good. I have been to It's Nutts many times, but it will be the last time I ever go there again. Every time I order a pizza to go they mess up the order. They tell you it will be ready in 15 minutes and then you get there and have to wait an additional 35 minutes. I have ordered over the phone and twice I got the wrong order. I guess they don't know the difference between a barbecue chicken pizza and a buffalo chicken pizza or sweet peppers on a pizza and a pepperoni pizza. They just say we made a mistake and you are the one that gets screwed. This is not very good customer service. The service in the morning for breakfast is so much better than the service at night. If I was the owner of the place I would straighten these issues out because I know other people that have gone there and have gotten there pizza orders either wrong or it just took forever for them to get it done. read more

Went there for breakfast this Sunday. It is a cute little place that offers both in and outdoor dinning. Looks like it would be nice to eat there in the warm weather. Went for breakfast, and it was a decent meal, but it didnt knock my socks off. I had the mushroom crepe, which had a nice light batter that was cooked evenly, but the "carmelized" onions were lightly fried at best. The gravy it came with was thick and savory and complimented the crepe nicely. I thought the accompanying potatos were average, and lacked any sort of explosive seasoning. The rest of the table ordered omelettes, which were also decent, but I like my omelettes to not be cooked a second longer than necessary. For those that like their eggs a little crispier or cooked a little longer, the omelettes are for you. The styling and decorations inside gave it a quaint "home-cooked" feel, and the service was friendly.
