I went on a Friday night around 7:30 PM, and it was an hour wait to get seated. There's a tablet inside the restaurant at the entrance where you can put in your name, party size, & phone number for the waitlist. For smaller parties, they have small tables for 2 on the perimeter of the restaurant. Since I had a party of 2, they offered the smaller table which was readily available, or I could've opted to wait longer for a larger, 4-seater table on the floor. I chose to go with the smaller table as it was just me & my husband, & it was our first time. Personally, the table for 2 was a bit crowded and too small for AYCE sushi. It felt like my husband's back was way too close to the neighboring table's back & we were able to hear their conversation, & I feel like they were able to hear ours as well. My husband & I chose to go with Course A which was $32.95 per person. The food came out fast and they were all delicious. In all honesty, my husband & I went in starving and ended up ordering a lot more appetizers than we wanted to. The main appetizers that we absolutely loved & would get again are the Monkey Brain & Bulgogi Fries. We have never had Monkey Brain before & didn't know what to expect. It was so soft and delectable. The Bulgogi Fries are to-die-for. It was saucy, cheesy, meaty, crunchy, fresh... I still think about it to this day. Rolls that came in cuts of 8 or 10 could be split into half-orders. My husband & I ordered half-orders for the rolls that we could so that we can try more of the menu, as recommended by our waiter. The rolls were all fresh and very filling. I appreciate how they didn't put too much rice in the rolls to make their customers full fast. All the ratios were fantastic. The baked rolls were so soft and savory. This place is a must for AYCE sushi! My favorite has to be the salmon belly, but they have so many variations of nigiri that you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. There's a limit on some nigiri but the rest are fair game. You can also order half rolls! The service is a little hit or miss. The first time I went with a group of 7 and the server kept coming by to check on us and even recommended some nigiri for us to try! This was my second visit, and once again, the nigiri was excellent. The baked mussels were fantastic, wish they were not limited to one order (3pcs) per person, because I definitely wanted more. Updating to 5 stars! After coming back a few times I'm realizing that this is really my favorite AYCE sushi spot in Sacramento. There are sooo many options from hot appetizers, to sushi rolls, hand rolls and nigiri. Almost too many to choose from. But what sets this place over the top is the service. I thought the quails eggs would've came on top of rice or something, but they came on spoons. I guess you can add it to ikura. My favorites were the super white tuna and salmon belly. You're limited on the salmon, but I did multiple orders of the tuna. -4 rolls- California Roll, Henry, Red Dragon, Something Wrong #7 There is an option of half rolls. I think I would skip rolls next time- nothing special. As the name suggests, there was something wrong with the #7. There was too much going on in the roll as there was four lines of text describing the roll. -5 desserts The lychee sherbet was a refreshing ending for me. I love It's Sushi!! It is quite a drive from Sacramento to Roseville, but it is 100% worth it! Their food is just so fresh and delicious. The rice to fish ratio for the nigiri is perfect, because it's literally a tiny ball of rice underneath a good slice of sashimi. Service is always amazing. Whenever I go I always see the waiter who helped my family the very first time when we went over a year ago. I think he recognizes us and he's very friendly! The bathroom is kept clean all the time and the employees are attentive in taking away empty plates. Sometimes the food can come out slow because it is very busy during dinner time, but there are times when it does come out fast. I recommend ordering items that are limited to 1 per person, such as the soft shell crab and yellowtail collar because it's yummy and special! My favorite nigiris are garlic salmon, yuzu yellowtail, and super white tuna. Also, if you want to try a sushi roll but don't want to get a full one, you can order it as a half roll (4 pieces)! I will say at this particular time, the host upfront accidentally removed our name on the list and didn't call for us when we were sitting in the waiting area. We were told an estimate of an hour, but ended waiting an hour and thirty minutes. Only after we inquired did they say they had accidentally removed our name. Visited It's Sushi for the first time and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We checked in and waited about 20 minutes to be seated, and at no point were we informed about their all-you-can-eat policy requiring everyone at the table to participate. We came as a party of 3, and one person in our group only wanted a single roll, but we were told everyone had to do all-you-can-eat. This wasn't clearly explained upfront, and the menu felt misleading--I thought the requirement was just choosing the same AYCE course, not that every single person had to participate. We explained that we had driven 35 minutes and asked if they could make a one-time exception since it was our first visit, but the manager, Sarah, was not accommodating or hospitable at all and didn't seem to care. After that interaction, it completely ruined the experience and honestly made me lose my appetite. We went on a Saturday evening and of course we should have known better because it was packed! There was a 90 min wait so we got on the waiting list. I have never been here before but heard great things from friends. We didn't get the all you can eat option since we had a lot of young children and picky eaters. We were pretty happy about our food. Only thing that was a little disappointing was the plate of bulgogi and galbi. For the price, the serving seem really small. I didn't have a taste of it but I'm sure it was good. Usually we love this place BUT we were charged a mandatory 18% gratuity because we brought our 13 month old twins. The issue is not the tip because we were obviously going to give one but the way it was gone about. We asked for an explanation as to why they are considered into the 5 group or more mandatory tip and it was because they were served kids waters. During this particular experience, our server came by 2x and then had someone else ask if we wanted to order more. No waters were filled etc. I totally get they were busy but it felt like because he already knew he was guaranteed a tip, he could have cared less about our table. We decided to go with Course C and everything came out so fast even though it was busy. The nigiri here is always good, the fish to rice ratio is amazing. Their hot dishes are also very good. Our server was Kayla and she was amazing. She has a very bubbly attitude and made our time there wonderful. We overheard her recommending the coconut tempura shrimp at another table and just had to try it out ourselves, and it was so tasty! This was my first time at its sushi and it was highly recommended to me by my coworkers. The entire experience was amazing. I went early around 5:45 and there were tons of tables open. It did start getting busy by 6:15 so I'd recommend going early. I chose the option B ayce menu which also includes items from the A menu and includes the specials for the day (usually one order per person) they rotate different dishes which is really nice so you can always try different dishes and not just the same ayce The menu is very huge: they have appetizers, cooked dishes, miso soups, nigiri and all sorts of hand rolls and sushi rolls. I was surprised with how fast the food came and how great the service was for an ayce. 1st and last time... never again. This place is mediocre at best. But that isn't the worst part. I want to start off by pointing out that my 7yr old son is NOT 50 inches or taller. But the server was adamant that he is, so we had my son get up and go stand next to their cardboard sign with a 50" marker. When my son stood next to it, it shows he's taller than the 50" marker LOL. That ain't right! But wait!!!!!!! that cardboard sign is slanted at an angle, so it shows he's taller than 50". The reason why I know my son isn't 50 inches is because we were just at Boardwalk the previous day, and he couldn't ride certain rides because he's NOT 48" or taller. What a Shameful tactic to charge kids full price! Any how, that was only the start of it. We looked at the menu and proceeded to order, but ALL THE GOOD STUFF is limited to 1 per person. I thought this was "ALL YOU CAN EAT"? OK fine, whatever, not all you can eat. Then the server proceeded to point out more limitations and that if we didn't eat the rice of the Nigiri, normally they would charge for waste. Dafuq? Seriously dude, gtfoh. The Nigiri is skinnier and thinner than Ariana Grande. However, their rolls tho... STUFFFED WITH RICE and drenched with heavy sauce to curb your appetite. All you can eat Sushi? Yes please! But that'll be an Extra Charge for any small amount of sushi leftover - Bummer. I've eaten at It's Sushi several times now and unless I'm in the area, I won't be driving out of my way to eat there. The pricing is acceptable and I appreciate the different levels of Sushi prices depending on what can be ordered. I have eaten at other AYCE sushi restaurants that are at the same price or more expensive. Those other places have allowed more leniency and sometimes even allowed us to take home our extra sushi. For It's Sushi, pray that you have a nice server that allows some wiggle room or face the consequences. Dinner is meant to be enjoyable and not stressful yet even if I don't like the half roll I've ordered to try out, I'm forced to eat it. That's Not Ok. The food itself is ok and I didn't particularly have any favorites other than the Ice Cream but that can be ordered/bought at most places. Atmosphere was good, music was in the air and there were no TVs. Restaurant and bathrooms were fairly clean. Parking was also easy within the plaza. As for the wait times, other than Mon-Thu non-peak hours, expect to wait 30+ minutes. There was a wait even before they opened for lunch and it got full pretty quickly so I would go early if you can. They had a great selection of foods here and everything tasted fresh and delicious. I wasn't too big of a fan on the rolls they offer because not a lot of them had salmon inside, only either tempura or tuna. But they were still delicious! They don't offer sashimi here, only nigiri so that was a downside for me. But the fish tasted fresh and the presentation was great. Restaurant itself is pretty spacious and there was a lot of tables. It's pretty clean inside which is also a bonus. Server was attentive and would come around whenever we were finishing up one round. Will come back when I'm around the area again. read more
