I'm back up here in the Sacramento area to meet up with my crew to head out on our next field assignment. I still need to go further into Sacramento to meet up but in the mean time I thought I'd stop in here at Yummy Buffet to grab a quick meal that won't take too long. I like buffets, cause there's no waiting to place orders and then wait for the food to be served, you just go right up grab food and eat and then you're outta there. This is a pretty decent sized buffet with all the normal Chinese American dishes people all want. I know I can take my crew to these buffets cause everyone will find something to eat and be happy. They even have American stuff in case there's someone in you party that doesn't want Chinese food, like pizza and french fries! I got my fried rice and salt and pepper pawns as well as some beef and broccoli. I'll say maybe the food wasn't the total best I've had at a Chinese buffet, but it gets the job done. Where do I start, and what do I say? Well I do know what to say but I am just so in awe of this place that just to leave something less than amazing would be a disservice to the review that I would leave here. After Church today the wife and I had some errands to run and in the process were hungry and were trying to figure out what / where to eat. So she had asked me what I wanted and I had mentioned the Chinese place in Granite Bay but since they werent a buffet we really wanted to look for something that was more buffet like. So the wife did a Google Search and was able to find this place. So we traveled 20 minutes from Folsom to Citrus Heights to take a look and see if we were intested in eating here. Let me tell you the first minute we walked in, we were Greeted by the staff as they said "Welcome In, where would you like to sit?" So we found a table to sit at and then began walking around trying to find something to eat. Let me tell you that the decorations in this place are absolutely Beautiful. Thought I was walking around China for a minute, being that I have never been there it felt like I was. Everything was very clean and there was tons of food to choose from. They have everything from Sushi, a Hibachi Bar, Rice, Chicken of all sorts, Calamari, Squid, a bunch of different fruits, Ice Cream, I mean the list could go on and on and on. There was so much food there that if you leave hungry that's your fault. I can't give this place JUST a 5 star because I'm just so In awe of what I saw when I walked in and what I ate. This place deserves a 10. This Chinese Restaurant is by FAR one of the best Chinese Restaurants I have seen in my Chinese Food Restaurant eating career. It was my Grandpa's birthday recently, and he had been wanting to try this place for the past few weeks. We grew up going to Hometown Buffet with the family, but due to their closure, we haven't gone to a buffet in easily a decade. We came in for dinner and the moment I stepped foot inside I was asked how many. I told her 4 and she motioned to follow her. My family wasn't even fully inside the building yet when I was told to follow her, and so my family was trying to wait at the counter while I told them to follow me. The hostess was annoyed and started telling them to hurry up and follow her. She quickly walked to the seats and asked me how many seniors and what my family wanted to drink. My grandparents walk slowly and so I was the first one at the table being asked to order for everyone. I didn't know what anyone wanted so I asked if we could start with waters. Before my family could fully sit down, they dropped waters off and walked away. Now none of that is necessarily a bad thing, they work extremely quickly here. As someone who had never had this sort of experience before though, It threw me off greatly. They never came back except to drop off the check and a quick drive by water refill. I saw other people yelling out to the staff for drinks whenever they wanted a soda or refill. So I think you need to call out to the staff anytime you want something? I do wish I had a drink menu, as I'm the type of person who needs to be able to read the options. Suffice to say, be prepared to immediately walk to your table and know what drinks you're ordering before you get there. Now for the important info, the food. It wasn't great and it wasn't horrible. There were some horrible, bland, boring, tasty, and every other adjective to describe them, foods. It's been a couple weeks so I don't remember everything I ate, but the ones that stand out in my mind still I'll review. I enjoyed the peanut butter chow mein, Cajun fries, and the donut which was closer to a bombolini minus the filling. There was a lot of food that was ok like the shrimp alfredo, fried rice, and potstickers. Then there is the bad like the calamari, sushi, and cake. Overall it's a mixed bag, but I do still think it's good in the sense of it being a buffet. Don't like the bad stuff? Just go back for more of the better stuff instead. The two most disappointing items were the cake and sushi for me personally. The cake was so incredibly dry and lacked flavor. If you were to tell me the cake was actually prop cake, I would have believed it. As for the sushi, I would never come here over any other spot. Sushi is top 3 favorite foods for me, and I grabbed 1 piece of every roll they had in order to try it. Presentation is beautiful and it's tightly rolled so it keeps it structure as you're eating it. The actual flavor of the rolls and taste of them weren't good. It got to the point where Instead of eating the entire piece I would take a small bite and then toss the rest. Overall this is a pretty good spot and I can see myself coming back. There aren't a lot of buffet's left these days and it's good to see one. Don't come in expecting the best buffet you've ever been to, but it's a good time for an affordable price. read more

Went here with a big group. We were initially put into the wrong group, but things were figured out. The food was good. A lot of options. The sashimi was good. The coconut shrimp was one of my favorite things there; it was like honey walnut shrimp but with coconut flavor. Very yummy. The cooked oysters are huge! Fries were well seasoned but unfortunately stale. Plantains are a great palette cleaner. As for the service, they were quick to clean your finished plates. Very enjoyable lunch experience at this buffet. Spotlessly clean and bright buffet area with fresh ingredients and a variety of main courses that tasted great. Several options for shrimp with the coconut shrimp a stand-out. The beef broccoli, orange chicken, and even the chicken wings were perfectly seasoned and very tasty. Too many good choices for most people. Three options for fresh fish with the salmon being my favorite. Exceptional sushi with at least a dozen options. Mongolian BBQ with very tender cuts of meat. Excellent service with prompt refills of our drinks and very pleasant wait staff to provide anything you might want. There were more high quality choices for lunch than I expected and I'm sure the dinner options are even better. I really enjoy Asian cuisine and this is one of the best buffet experiences I have had in a very long time. An exceptional food value for the quality and variety available. I'm traveling through Sacramento and went for the lunch buffet. This place is huge. Very clean and staff is friendly. There is a hibachi, a large section of sushi rolls, there were some American things (pizza, wings, fries, etc) but there were a lot of Asian dishes(orange chicken, hibachi chicken, beef broccoli, etc). I was very happy to see Korean short ribs as one of the options. This is one of the best Asian buffets I've been to. Everything was hot and fresh. I've wanted to try this place ever since I heard about it. It's the former Japanese buffet, that's across the parking lot from the citrus Heights Sam's Club on Greenback. I came in at 2:30 on a Saturday, and it was busy, but not overly so. The place was very clean. The people were friendly. You walk in, you are seated, and they take your payment after you eat. Overall, the food was very good. I forget the number, but there were quite a few number of serving lines. because it was Saturday, they had the dinner menu all day, so the menu was expanded. The food temperature was very good, which can be a challenge at a buffet. They had a very good selection. They had a Mongolian barbecue, including shrimp as one of the proteins. They also had steaks available to grill. They had a large number of Chinese selections. They had a peanut butter chow mein, which I liked. They had four different kinds of soup. They also had American selections, such as pizza, fried chicken, and french fries. They had a very large selection of seafood, including shrimp several ways, including coconut shrimp, which I absolutely love. They had baked fish, which was very good. They also had crawdads. The sushi section is very large, it was well stocked, and it included three different types of sashimi. They also had baked oysters, as well as raw oysters on the half shell. They had a nice salad bar, and a good dessert section, including cakes that they actually keep in a cooler to keep them fresh. The one thing I did not care for, was a roast beef/prime rib. It was on a do it yourself carving station, which I felt was a bit unsanitary, To me, it was tough, and it did not taste very good. I actually had to spit it out. That saying, that's the only thing I did not like on the menu. Everything else was great. Even it being the dinner menu, the price was extremely reasonable. We decided to finally try this new Asian buffet yesterday and we were not disappointed. There is a huge variety of food including frog legs, coconut shrimp, sushi, Mongolian BBQ, and everything in between. The food was super fresh and rotated quickly; never an empty chaffing dish. Our drinks were topped off every time we reached the halfway point on them. Our server was on the ball. We love how the restaurant is decorated. It looks great. They were VERY busy so the price point $23 + $5 ice tea seems acceptable. We left completely satisfied and will be making another trip here very soon. read more

Was only in the Sacramento/Roseville area for a day and made a pit stop at Sam's Club when we decided to stop and eat here. First of all, the price is quite surprising and amazing for a buffet, especially their dinner prices. We were expecting to pay $40 but were pleasantly shocked to pay less than $25 per person. Everything we tried was well made and tasty. There was a Mongolian grill, some sushi options, and a decent amount of seafood or other Chinese options. Overall great value for food, sushi and sashimi were great, better than comparable buffets in the area in the same price range. They have crab for dinner but unfortunately all deep fried. Service seemed average. They did well the clear plates but nothing special. Ambiance was nice and clean looking. Don't let the plain entrance fool you! We almost thought we were entering from the back of the building with how unwelcoming the entrance was, but we were happily surprised when we entered. Grill was good with huge steaks if you want to commit to one and desserts were average. I used to be a regular customer dining during lunch, but prefer the dinner menu. Just recently I experienced really rude treatment from one of their waitresses that I no longer eat there. i didn't get the name of my waitress, but she's young, taller and thin. She sometimes acts as a hostess seating people. I went with my daughter for dinner on a weekend and noticed she spent a lot of time talking to a man with two kids. I assumed that was her family, so the other waitress tended to our needs. When the guy left with the kids, the female owner seemed to know them and said her goodbyes to them. Before we were done, the waitress brought me our bill and I paid with a credit card. Most restaurants won't pick up the receipt until I leave the restaurant. She picked up the receipt while I was eating dessert and I mentioned to my daughter that some waitress and waiters do this to see their tips. Within a few minutes later, she comes back to our table and abruptly removes everything from our table while I was still eating. I don't tip the 18-20% at these Chinese buffets because it's mainly self service. Since this incident, I go down the street to their competitor and their wait staff is happy with any tip because customers pay first, so some people don't tip at all. I hope management reads this and realize their customer base is smaller than their competition is because some of their waitresses needs to be trained better and should treat customers with respect because there's another place down the street that does a better job. Now that waitress and coworkers will get no tip from me because I will not be returning. read more

We've been to the all you can eat buffets but Yummy Buffet is the best! There is plenty of variety, it's not just carbs and jello. Yes, they have good sushi and grilled meats . On May 21, 2026, this restaurant Yummy Buffet & Grill took a Fraud credit charge of $190.87 on 1 takeout lunch plate order for my partner James Gutierrez which only cost $19.99 but yet they took a fraud credit card charge on my Petal Visa Card ending in 1073. No tip was entered in this transaction. As we were leaving, I, Michael Horne did not look at my receipt and I happened to see this discrepancy when we arrived home in Dixon, California. This restaurant was very busy that day that the lady register clerk was too busy talking and not paying attention to what she was doing. I did file a complaint through my Petal Visa Card and they stated that the restaurant made the right choice of the charge for my partners 1 lunch order plate. How can 1 lunch plate cost $190.87 that is pure a mistake on the clerks end. This 1 lunch take out plate was only $19.99 not $190.87 this is a crooked outfit stealing monies from their customers who goes there to buy take out food and to turn around and lie about it on my card Petal Visa Investigation payment they took. I am also filing this Fraud Charge to FTC so that customers who goes there are fully aware to check their receipts as this restaurant are stealing from their customers and the customers are not fully aware. read more

The service here good all servers are nice and attentive despite being a buffet. Honestly, I don't expect anything to blow my mind at buffets but Yummy buffet and grill is pretty solid. I like that it's not piled up and just new food on top of an older batch of food- they have kitchen staff coming out constantly switching out trays which I enjoy seeing, which leads me to believe they're keeping up with the quality of the dishes. There isn't HUGE difference between lunch and dinner service aside from a few dishes being swapped out but you're not missing out. I enjoy the area where they make the Mongolian bbq on the flat top as well even if you don't have noodles and it's all meat they'll still cook it for you! Remember to tip the grill guy though!! We visited again last weekend 9/28 And I would like to update my review previously reviewed in February. The food was YUMMY as the name states. Everything I tried I liked. The restaurant was clean with carpets lined between the food tables so food spills and the floors were not slippery. There is exhaust fans pulling steam and moisture from the restaurant. This buffet was just OK. I came here with my family and we had a huge party of about 18, so glad they were able to accommodate us when we called ahead. We were seated in the side room which was not on the main floor where the food was and felt like a private party room. That was cool because my kids could run around. Buffet options were pretty standard except for the Mongolian bbq and fresh steaks station, which I never really see. There also was sushi with some thick sashimi slices. Overall, food was OK. I felt like they used mayo for everything that was creamy including the Alfredo sauce, inside the cream cheese rangoons, and even inside of a sushi roll. I do not like mayo so it was off putting. Also, I got the "flan" but it was not sweet and I felt like brown sugar sauce on top of silken tofu. Don't play with me like that! Standout items were the stir fry Chinese food items like the green beans, mushrooms, clams and the tender ribs where they left out a knife for you to cut your own piece. I noticed the silverware that you wrap in a napkin and give to us to use your staff has all those turned upside down so that the tongs of the fork and the spoon or up facing up then they grab them with their dirty hands and then they put him in a napkin I also watched one of the one of the guys wipe his hands and they went right back to doing the silverware and then I watched the other girl get up and go and pick up some dirty plates from the customers and then instead of washing their hands she went back to handling the silverware which was again upside down the tongs and spoon facing up and so they were touching it.
