You simply cannot go wrong with See's candy! This store was a must visit during our San Diego trip and our visit to Fashion Valley. The interior is bright and classic See's with various packaged items as well as the famous candy counter where you can pack your own box (we always go for this option). As soon as you approach the counter you are offered a sample (milk or dark - your choice), and the staff at this location were super friendly and helpful and suggested trying some of their seasonal options which were almost out of stock. We purchased a two pound box with various favorites (I love the marzipan). The chocolates are always delicious and the flavors are always so very good. Had some time to kill waiting to pick up my daughter so I stopped by See's to see what they had. Wanted to check out their new collection of lollipops and the chocolate chip/mint chip truffles. Picked up a few items to bring home. The store is decent sized and has a great variety of candies and goodies. My husband and I came in on a whim and decided to treat ourselves to a custom box. It's something we love to do, picking out our favorites. A one pound box is about 22-24 pieces so we each get 11 or 12. We make sure the sales person is putting them half and half in the box to not mix them up, because so many See's look very similar. One See's location actually had white and black paper cups onhand so the division was very clear! My absolute favorite is the Rum Nougat, and I also like the Mayfair, and dark and milk coconut cream. My husband likes truffles, nuts, Scotchmallow, dark chocolate. We had a wonderful seasonal worker helping us and her favorite is Rum Nougat too! I was shopping in Fashion Valley and decided to swing by to get a box of chocolate for my husband on Tuesday evening 1/14/2026. The older blond lady offered me a sample and helped me choose what to get to fill up the 1 lb box. I asked for another sample and she didn't look happy , but gave the 2nd sample to me. We were almost done, I asked for another sample because I've never had those flavors, would be nice to get a sample. She gave me the 3rd sample and whisper at me, you're asking for 3 samples? So I said yes, is that okay? And she kept quiet. Wow! How rude! I paid for my 1 lb box , but I will never return to this location. This was my first time stopping in this store at the mall even though I visit the mall at least several times per year. It was after Halloween and I was surprised how many people were still lining up to buy chocolate and candy. There was only one worker who was doing everything. I picked up a random assortment of: -Dark Walnut Square -Dark Bordeaux -Dark Chocolate Buttercream -Dark Scotchmallow I also received a sample of the Dark Coconut Special which was my favorite. I also liked all the flavors above, with the Scotchmallow and Dark Chocolate Buttercream being the top 2 after the coconut special. Since there was a long line, I found a paper menu which lists all their flavors. I used the paper menu to study while I was waiting in line. The lone worker was doing her best to move the line quickly. When it was my turn, she also gave me a bunch of extra Halloween candy samples in my bag which I wasn't expecting. I was wandering around the mall and excited to come across a See's. When I was at the mall I used to go to in Florida, they would have a pop-up shop around the holidays but they weren't selling all the chocolates that you can get in the store. I picked out a couple of chocolates including the milk chocolate honeycomb chip, a milk raspberry cream, a Bordeaux and can't remember what else lol. They give you a piece of chocolate of your choice when you walk in which is really sweet (no pun intended). I love the toffeettes (their version of buttercrunch). The gentleman helping me at the counter was very friendly and patient with me and my questions. The store was clean and well stocked. Sees has been part of my family generation since 1925. My family's roots are in Los Angeles. My great grandma couldn't go into the store but the home where she was the keeper of the house, they would give her some for the family. My grandmother, now age 98, introduced me to Sees. I would sneak squares of the vanilla walnut fudge from the drawer when she would work in the garden (smile). Now even my kiddo loves See's candies. And we can walk in the store any time we want and will not get a side eye or the cops called on us. Times have changed but still need to be better. I still love the black and white iconic decor and the complimentary sample. And I appreciate that you can ask for a bag with individual choices instead of having to purchase per pound. I'm a creature of habit. I indulge in a block of vanilla walnut fudge and two cups of milk chocolate peanut clusters. My kiddo loves the truffles. I love the nostalgia. Interesting to think about how much of our finances have supported Sees. And so I digress. This particular Sees always seems to be understaffed and wait times can be 15 minutes or more on the weekend. 1st experience I had was extremely poor. There was an extremely rude and snooty blonde lady who had been working at the time and made the what should have been an exciting experience of picking candies mundane and unenjoyable. However going back a second time (later at night and nearing Valentine's Day), the people on shift working, were extremely polite and helpful. I do love the quality and consistency of sees candies, but this location specifically had rude staff. The place was understaffed and after I waited patiently I didn't have a friendly encounter with the lady who assisted me. I wasn't offered any samples that I was actually interested in buying. A employee just rudely asked if I liked dark or milk chocolate and picked one random piece out for me. A fudged filled one. I took one bite and just had to throw the rest away. I don't ask for a sample if I'm not interested in buying. I asked if I could try a different one of my choosing and she said only if you buy it. Never had this issue at another see's candies store. Today it was time for some chocolate that was reasonably priced. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the fragrance smell of chocolate permeated the air. I couldn't wait to get it in my mouth. Michelle was my service person who is very friendly and cute and explain to me how the pricing was per bag or box. I only wanted a few pieces so I chose the Molasses crisp chips and she gave me a chocolate mocha infused piece to taste. It was delicious next time for sure. I bought 10 pieces for $7 really looking forward to going back there and trying some other new offerings. Sees first opened in 1921 Los Angeles california. Not me. Definitely one of the places one cannot just pass by without hesitation especially when you are at the mall and you wanna have a treat with all the other coffee shops and boba places close by. It is a small location for the fashion valley mall but a little patience and friendly staff go a long way here :) Every few months they give a coupon for upcoming sales and that's when I tend to splurge more on haha. read more

My toddler and I ventured into See's Candies. She had never been. I hadn't been in forever! The store was somewhat small but jam packed with an abundance of delicious chocolate and other candies! They had every kind you could want, ready made assortments, packages and the like. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful when I was asking her questions about other stores in the mall. It was our first time purchasing the delicious lollipops and boy did we not regret it. I don't normally consume lollipops but I would definitely buy them again! They have butterscotch, cafe latte, chocolate, caramel and they had three other limited edition flavors but I can't recall the flavors now. Of course we loved the free samples of chocolate candies that were complimentary to every paying customer. I know we will be back the next time we are shopping here! For one, I didn't receive a free sample (like all of the other people who came in!) It's probably because the two people behind the counter were busy talking to each other when I first came in. The guy helping me was fine when it came to filling up my box, but I was displeased by the woman helping another customer. The customer came in speaking Spanish and had a difficult time communicating about which ones she wanted. Each time she added a chocolate, they laughed because they thought she would be done. I used to love this store, but this location is the worst one I have ever been to. The manager, Terry, is one of the rudest people I have come across. I watched her yell at another employee in front of customers. So I walked into the fashion valley store to buy a couple boxes for my mom and I had to slide my mask DOWN because it requires face recognition on my phone. Crap service. Walked out buying ZERO candy! I really hope this is not where they have only 1 single employee working to "assist" all customers. My kids knew what they wanted, grabbed and were ready to check out. Except there was a family having a hard time trying to figure out what candies they wanted in their box (the guy was saying "sorry we don't have a sees candy where w live" to the employee, and she goes "no worries you still have plenty of room for more". Seeing how there was no end in near sight I asked if she could just check us out. To church she said "no you have to wait your turn, the line feeds off this direction" no shit! I can see that, but why on flying f*** should someone have to wait an unknown of time when she could've politely let her customers know she'd be right with them. Which honestly, how long would it take for her to check us out? A minute or two while it was definitely going to take a long time for the other customers to make up their mind piece by piece they were picking to go in their box. I said never mind, put our things back and started walking out. I know the customer felt bad and said "sorry we'll hurry up". Which I told him it's not you, is the customer service and left. A customer should not be rushed, but at the same time I shouldn't have to wait while the other customer isn't rushing either.
