Me and my friends ordered from Ivar's Seafood Bar the other day and we loved how fresh and high quality the food is. The staff who works at Ivar's are very nice and helped me order and recommended me food to try. I ended up ordering the fish and chips and when I say this is one of the best fish and chips I have tried I mean it. I also loved the vibe of Ivar's it's reminds me of 2000's Seattle. Overall I would recommend this place if you're nearby, and I would recommend their fish and chips with tar tar sauce and motz vinegar. read more

It's hard to go wrong with this Ivar's location. Amazing, well trained employees who greet you with a smile immediately as you walk in. I've never had any issues with the order being correct in my nearly 30 visits to this location. The food is always amazing Ivar's quality. Got 4pc fried salmon, 3pc cod both with wild rice. Salmon portions were substandard nothing like pictures on menu. Should be 6oz, would be surprised if over 4oz (I need to pay attention to weight of all food I consume for nutritional reasons). Wild rice was mushy and had been poorly microwaved (scalding in center, lukewarm edges). Wife would not eat hers because of the "old/stale" flavor and mushiness. Wife said cod was over-spiced, mostly salt, and could not finish it. I posted and review to Ivar's website thinking I was helping manage their quality and in return they gave me a worthless coupon (free desert, with purchase of entree), seemed worse than no coupon at all. We ordered from this Ivars yesterday for our parents who just lost their dog. We ordered a large amount of food so that they didn't have to cook for a couple days and we know how much they love this Ivars. They DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! They got all items correct and at the time we ordered it for! They LOVE the fish and clam chowder! In edition the salmon chowder is AMAZING! I was getting new tires at point S so my kids and I walked over to ivars for a snack and to wait there. Instantly although she was busy Christina ( I hope i spelled that correctly) greeted us with her infectious smile and her sweet and friendly voice. While ordering she was efficient and helped me save $2 lol. She was just so sweet and Bitel again I hope I am spelling these correctly brought our food and I offered to bring it to my table myself she insisted. They were both so attentive to everyone there so although I also did the survey I asked to speak to the manager because customer service like this should be praised. I live in California so I don't get Ivar's very often. Seems that most places serve beer battered fish....sorry but the smell of hot beer turns my stomach. I had the cod and fries with a solo clams. Nothing special with the food. The clam chowder did not have that much in the way of meat in the chowder and what meat was there was tough. Clam chatter was tasteless. The service personnel there were awesome and that's why I'm giving it two stars. It's a good place to sit if you wanna look out at the water. This place hit the spot. We've eaten here once at the restaurant so this was the first time we ordered through UberEats. I had the clams and chips. The oil they cooked the clams, fish, and chips was so clean! We were pleasantly surprised. The clams had a good crunch and wasn't overly chewy. The chips were great. Lots of meat in them and again very clean. The clam chowder was also good. It was creamy and thick and they included saltine crackers with them. Well definitely be ordering that again. Ivar's Fish & Chip has been around for many decades. I have not found any fish & chip establishment that compares. There are others that are very good, but doesn't come close to Ivar's. I'm so happy that there are so many around the Washington State. I am especially happy that there is one close to my house. The staff at the Kent Ivar's are so nice. Their menu has so many great options, it is so hard to choose from. My favorite is a 5 piece fish & chip. I also enjoy their Caesar salad, Halibut, onion rings and etc. Shout out to 2 amazing people at the Kent location, they are awesome with their customer service, and they have a great personality. Lead Joyce, and General Manager Harouna always makes me, my friends and family feel welcomed and comfortable. The atmosphere happy when I come in. Did you go to the glass museum and the history museum in Tacoma? If not, then skip the glass museum, but history museum is awesome! Anyway stopped by this ivars on my way back to Redmond, as I was starving. Me and my friend got the fish boat.. some similar sounding name. Basically you get 2 small chowders, 10 pieces of fish, potato fries, and an additional side. All of this for 25 bucks. Now that's a pretty decent deal. I mean 3 people can comfortably eat that, but the two of us somehow managed while entering extreme coma. Fish was nice and tender. Fries were hand cut and fresh. Onion rings were really good! Rings were one of my favorite. The chowder was pretty lacking though. I'd heard great things of ivars chowder, but clearly it was lacklustre. Apart from that, clearly a good value. Oh, and this was my first time at an ivars. So yeah will definitely get more ivars in the future, and hopefully I get a better chowder. read more

How the mighty have fallen. Mini pieces of fish. Bland chowder and just not good food. I ordered the 4 piece fish. I got 4 pieces. It used to be that they had some substance to them. Unfortunately they are now the size of a chicken finger. They are about the size of my thumb around. The chowder was ok. You can tell it's now mass produced and doesn't have the depth of flavor and care that the old man had. It's basically a clam flavored roux. Ivars used to be the go-to place for chowder. Now, there is better chowder in a can at Safeway. The service was good. Friendly and quick. Too bad the food sucks so bad. read more

I have been to many Ivar's over many years, and I am shocked about how the fish and chips were at the Kent location. The batter was soggy like they sat too long in a plastic bag creating moisture, and the fries were cold in the middle of the pile. Maybe it was just a bad day. The overall taste was on par with the other locations. When I picked up the fish it just fell apart and fell. read more

The Kent Ivars is our go to place for Fish and Chips. We go almost every Friday. All the staff there are friendly and efficient. The restaurant is clean and cheerful. The manager, Kerry is the best. He was honored by Ivars and the governor on May 3, 2022 for 50 years of superior service. read more

Stopped in for lunch, and they must have had some special running - the line was out the door! The staff was doing a great job of maintaining a COVID-safe environment, and were working hard to get all the orders together. Still, the wait to order was at least 10 minutes, and the wait for food was another 15. I ordered the 5-piece Fish & Chips. Expecting the Skippers' size fillets, these were more like chicken fingers. A bit disappointing, but on par for the price. For me, the filets were a bit dried out, but still flavorful. The fries were tasty, however! Parking at this location is a bit of a pain; first, I turned into what seemed like the obvious parking lot, but had to come back out on the highway and go back the other way. Then, leaving was a bit challenging, as the layout of the driveway is not very well designed. I'll go back again, but will be sure to call my order in next time, to avoid the wait. read more

This has been the same Ivar's I've been going to for over a decade. They keep things very classic and simple. They do have a variety of fried seafood but I always get the 5 piece cod and chips with a side caesar salad. The fish is always cooked fresh and the fries are crispy on the outside but nice and fluffy on the inside. Ivar's is not only known for their fried fish but also for their clam chowder and tartar sauce. I like that they haven't changed anything since when I first moved to Kent over a decade ago. When the Asian woman returned, she started loudly speaking to the cook about how he was screwing up with orders, (fish tacos came before another meal, oops, sounds like just an out of order but who cares!) WHAT THE HELL?! So, basically, SPEAK NICELY TO YOUR STAFF AND MAYBE YOUR COMPANY NEEDS TO HOLD A POLITENESS TRAINING FOR YOUR TEAMS!!!
