    salmon yuzu handroll

Small pop-up with a simple menu, the Kazumi popup delivers popular Japanese dishes such as ramen, handrolls, and Japanese curry. Pros: I'm not usually a fan of shio ramen, but I found it surprisingly flavorful and clean to the taste. The highlight was the soy sauce-marinated eggs, perfectly cooked and not too salty. The waiter was attentive as I was the only customer there when I visited. Cons: The handrolls could be larger given the price point of around $9 per piece. It was basically the size of a sushi but the taste was decent. Would visit again to try the curry!

My friend and I visited for a late Sunday lunch. We had a reservation for 3:00 PM, but we arrived 10 minutes early. Since the resturant was not too busy at that time, we were able to be seated early. The atmosphere was small and cozy, and was a great place to grab food and catch up with friends. The menu was on the more limited side, but it had great options for what my friend and I wanted to eat for the day. We started with a Chicken Karaage. It came with the karaage and a caramelized lemon. I thought this was such an unique choice as I haven't previously seen this combination at other places that serve karaage. The karaage itself was tender with a light, crispy batter. However, I think a dipping sauce would have elevated the experience even further. For my main course, I got the Pork Cutlet Curry, which pleasantly surprised me with its inclusion of purple multigrain rice rather than regular white rice, which was a great touch to the dish. There was also a salad of grape, yellow cherry tomato, and sweet cherry tomato. It brought more flavors and blended perfectly with the curry. The katsu had a really nice crunch. This dish was innovative, making it one of the most memorable katsu dishes I had. Our server's attententiveness added to the overall experience. His brief explanations of each dish heightened our anticipation and made it a more intimate meal. Overall, it was a great meal and dining experience. I am looking forward to coming back to try other dishes.

Came here on a freezing night for ramen. The place is very small, which is fine because we expected it as it is a pop up. But just letting people know so they're not surprised when they go. As an appetizer we got a handroll. It's honestly on the pricier side. While it tasted good, for the price point I'm not sure if I'd get it again (regularly sized). We did get a complimentary vegan hand roll which was a pleasant surprise! I got the tonkotsu ramen. It tasted very clean and rather simple. I actually wasn't the biggest fan of the pork that was in it. It tasted a little undercooked than what I'd prefer and was chewier than expected. I really like the pork in my ramen to almost melt in your mouth. The broth was really good though (like I said, felt very clean!) ramen can end up hurting my stomach with all of the sodium. But I ended up slurping my whole bowl feeling quite good! I do wish the serving sizes were bigger for the price.

First of all, I like decor of the restaurant. The food was amazing, especially the Pork gyoza. Matcha.. ( I don't remember the name.) is fantastic!! This place also had a great selection of Mocktails. Server was attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back and recommend this place to anyone looking to have good time.

I am a tonkotsu lover. Undeniable that shoyu ramen here is quite different from any places. The soup is savory and flavourful. Also the gyoza taste is very nice without dipping a sauce. Karaage served with caramalized lemon to raise the taste of marinated chicken to be more flavourful. All in all. If you guys have any chance to visit. I DO RECOMMEND !

I had the vegan ramen for lunch. It was very good but a small portion for $19. Good service.

There are many…read morerestaurants with lines that I can't say are worth waiting on, but this restaurant is worth every minute and every ounce of energy left for the wait. I've taken a lot of friends here over the course of 10 years, and without fail, every one of them has walked out mindblown--and why wouldn't they?! The wait times have gotten better over the years (probably because people are waiting for the restaurant next door), but the food and drinks here are still top-notch. Staff is always great, and they all work so efficiently. I am generally a fan of izakayas, but there are very few that offer plates that are designed to be shareable, and this is one of the reasons the food here is so enjoyable in a small group setting. I am obviously biased and think they can do no wrong, but some of my staples that have stood the test of time: Kimchi cream udon, avocado tofu salad, salmon sashimi tacos, and the kani cream croquettes. I was so excited when they opened an outpost in Flushing years ago, but sadly it shuttered during COVID. It is definitely small and there is always going to be a wait, so don't be those people who come in with a huge group during prime time because they like to move (getting customers in and out) very fast.

It can be a little tricky to find as it has a small door on the street level and is located down a flight of stairs on 35th. They have a variety of drinks such as frozen kirin beer and Japanese inspired cocktails. For food, they have a large variety of Japanese classics from sushi, skewers, fried dishes, and noodles/rice. My favorites here are the Omu Soba which has some tasty noodles inside and the salmon don which has some sashimi and sauce over rice!

The sukiyaki was good with nice thinly sliced beef. We ended up ordering more beef slices too. I really liked the sweet sukiyaki broth and the raw egg and dipping sauce that came with it complimented it nicely. The Wagyu beef tartare was my favorite. It was seasoned really well and paired deliciously with the salad and ponzu sauce. The salmon sashimi was a little thin and nothing special. You can tell this place specializes more in beef! Food came quick. They have an electronic menu that you can order and call the server with which was nice. Place is dimly lit and intimate.

You order on a screen at each table, and they are very quick to bring out your food. We shared the beef sukiyaki and the spicy seafood jjamppong. I really enjoyed the flavors of the ingredients with the broth of the sukiyaki and the egg dipping sauce. It looks like it comes with a lot of meat, but be aware that it's only a layer of sliced beef on top of a bunch of bean sprouts. The spicy seafood jjamppong was spicier than we were expecting. I liked the bits of seafood that it came with, as well as the vegetables and roe. Both dishes had very large portion sizes and were great value. They also gave us some free pineapple with condensed milk for posting a photo of our food on an instagram story.

The restaurant was full at the counter however only a few tables in the back. Our server was often always standing next to our table, attentive and observant with our needs. I really liked that we had the option to get as many omakases as we wanted and/or order as many a la carte menu items. Many Japanese omakase restaurants do not allow this! And I never understood this either. We ordered 3 omakases to share amongst 2 people, and then a ton of a la carte dishes to share. Which were such a beautiful compliment to our omakase dishes. We got the "O" which was a 9 course meal with some cooked and raw options. From the a la carte menu, we ordered the chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, hamachi kama, clay pot rice with salmon and roe, sukiyaki noodles, 2 different rolls (tuna and salmon) and of course the uni taster (which were 3 different kinds of sushi from California and 2 from Hokkaido). The agedashi tofu was the worst amongst our group for a weird texture, definitely did not feel like tofu. The best dishes were the uni taster, chicken karraage, and hamachi kama all from the a la carte menu. And from the omakase, definitely the sushi platter (which were 10 pieces of sushi) and the soba noodles were so amazing! The sushi rice here were so delicious! This is how you can tell a authentic sushi restaurant vs not. Overall, definitely recommend and absolutely order a la carte to get a full tasting of the dishes.
