Great rolls, great cocktails. We've been here a few times and love it! It's a nice spot, especially when sushi is oddly hard to come by in WeHo. The only con is that the last waiter was a little irritable and pushy, but could have just been simply having a bad day. My husband and I met the old sushi chef in Okinawa who recommended this place, and it does not disappoint! The view was lovely and the outdoor heaters and DJ are a nice touch. My experience was extremely disappointing. The food was mediocre, and the music selection was annoying. When I got home and reviewed my receipt, I realized I had been charged for two items I never ordered, plus the additional West Hollywood labor surcharge, tax and tip on those items. I remember thinking the bill seemed very expensive, but I didn't take the time to check it before I paid. I called the restaurant multiple times to resolve the issue and asked for someone to call me back, but no one ever did. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant, and I would have understood if someone had simply acknowledged the error and corrected it. What disappointed me most was the complete lack of customer service afterward. Being ignored after being overcharged is unacceptable. Ok let me start by saying that I am no stranger to all levels of dining. From fast food joints to luxury spots I've tried my fair share of restaurants. I am not a food snob and appreciate all manner of food types. That being said this place is top notch! Atmosphere for a Friday night is amazing. A DJ playing music loud enough to enjoy it but not blasting. Ate outside with space heaters under the stars was incredible. Food was absolutely on point. The Wagyu melted in your mouth. The appetizers were recommended to us after asking the waitress and they were both excellent and delicious. The portions are small though so you will need to order more items if you come with an appetite. Again small portions but flavorful. Dessert was incredible and I was able to get an espresso at the end with my pastry. I definitely will be coming here again very soon! Met some friends for dinner the other night at Katana. The restaurant was never on my radar, but was brought to my attention and had to try it out. First, the ambiance. Just wonderful, inside and out. From the patio atmosphere to the indoor dim lighting providing that romantic mood, Katana oozes vibe. Also, on the patio, a live DJ keeping you entertained. We sat outside, on the patio, and started with drinks. The Tropical Hibiscus has a tequila base with passion fruit, lime, coconut and pomegranate. You don't really get the passion fruit flavor you're looking for, but the drink was still refreshing. The Matcha Miruku Sour is great to look at initially, with the Ube foam on top, and the cocktail has a whiskey base with pineapple, coconut and matcha. You get that matcha flavor on the middle notes while the Ube hits first, but it was all very balanced. The lychee Martini was also tasty, no complaints. For food, we started with two rolls, the Katana and the White Lotus. The katana comes with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura topped with tuna, yellowtail and spicy mayo. The white lotus consists of shrimp tempura, avocado and asparagus topped with albacore, crispy onions, wasabi truffle soy. The white lotus was more flavorful, between the two. The chicken fried rice was pretty basic, while the wagyu skewers were cooked well, juicy with good seasoning. For entrees, the wagyu short rib was seasoned well but felt a little overcooked and really didn't stand out. The wagyu chimichurri was also decent but didn't leave a lasting impression either, while the fillet comes precut, cooked at the temperature you desire. Mine was rare, as I ordered, while another at the table also ordered a filet, rare, but it came more medium. And eating mashed potatoes with chopsticks was a first for me, but we managed. Overall, great ambiance inside and out, with staff who are very attentive. Drinks are tasty and the sushi rolls worked, as did those skewers. The entrees felt like they just missed the mark, unfortunately. read more

Katana still really is that girl. My friends and I came to celebrate and this restaurant did not disappoint. From service to ambience to food and drinks everything checked the box and the vibe. We had a mix of drinks the drinks are strong, but delicious. The sushi is very fresh and full of flavor. We decided to go to Omakase route and we were able to dine on the chefs most popular pieces since this was the first time for most of us choosing the Omakase route was perfect. It was such a beautiful night. There was a live DJ who was playing great house music and everyone around was beautiful and there to enjoy a wonderful evening. I would not recommend anyone bring their children. It does not appear to be very family friendly so leave the kiddos at home for this one. read more

This is located close to where i live so I've walked and driven by it numerous times. Too many to count. Each time, I was always intrigued, but never bothered dropping by. Bad timing. At night, it always looked so magical with all the lights on. Me and a friend walked over from Greystone. Our original destination ended up being a bust so my friend made a quick resy then we proceeded to mosey over. We were so giddy walking up them steps facing Sunset. It's so dreamy up there specially with the lights on. The sun had just set as we got seated outside so the view from our table was pretty magical. Sirens be damned lol. DJ did a great job explaining everything to us as first timers. We ended up opting for the classic feast menu which honestly was the perfect amount of food. We were able to try a little bit of everything. From beginning to end, our dinner was exceptional. In all ways. The guy who dropped off our dishes had the best personality. Shame on me for not getting his name. He was so lovely. He had a different joke every single time he came over. Had me loling. DJ was attentive and had the best energy. He did such a great job taking care of us. Food wise, the highlights for me were: Tuna sashimi which was the first dish we were served. The presentation was sexy and my palate was awoken. That citrus base was wow. Sushi selection. It was a LOT. Truthfully, I didn't think we'd be given that much after all the meats. Can't pick which was best because they were all winners. Electric Koi cocktail - hands down the best drink I've had this year and it's only February. Another 10/10 on the presentation. I tapped out after2 cocktails. Beautiful decor inside and outside when you first walk in. It is a bit upscale so dress nicely beforehand if possible. We had reservations for a group the night before and sat inside. That was lovely the next night it was just my friend and I and we sat on their outside patio. There's lights everywhere and you have a beautiful view of West Hollywood's Sunset strip. Both nights we were warmly greeted by our hosts and servers with immaculate service to match the fun boujee decor and environment! Everyone was lovely. The food was SO good. we had a little bit of everything the first night but one thing that was my favorite was their lobster bites with the caviar on top of them. It was the perfect balance. We made our reservation weeks in advance to celebrate both Valentine's Day and my best friend's birthday. I even called ahead specifically to confirm outdoor seating because we do not enjoy sitting inside. I was assured our request would be noted. From the moment we arrived, the experience went downhill. First, the host greeting us was beyond rude. No warmth, no hospitality, nothing you would ever expect from a restaurant with this kind of reputation. Then we were escorted not to the main dining room and definitely not outside -- but to a tiny cramped side room with about five tables. The space was poorly decorated, felt suffocating, and honestly looked more like a cheap Korean BBQ joint than a high end restaurant. It genuinely felt like dining at McDonald's. We immediately asked for a manager. His explanation was that they had made a last minute decision to seat all parties of four in that tiny room. So despite our advance reservation and phone call, they essentially lumped all groups of four together and shoved us into an afterthought space with no ambiance, no airflow, and zero sense of celebration. It felt discriminatory. We were clearly treated as less important simply because we were a party of four. The room was chaotic with servers constantly hovering, rushing in and out, never allowing you to relax or enjoy your meal. For a restaurant that claims to be renowned, this level of crowding and disruption is unacceptable. This completely ruined my best friend's birthday and our Valentine's Day. A night that was supposed to be special turned into something uncomfortable and upsetting. To make matters worse, when we finally left, the manager stared us up and down and didn't even bother asking if we enjoyed the meal or acknowledging our experience in any professional way. No apology. No accountability. No care. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had, especially considering the reputation of this establishment. Poor communication, poor seating decisions, rude staff, and management that clearly does not care about guest experience. We will absolutely not be returning, and I would strongly caution anyone considering this restaurant for a special occasion. For mains, we did the Filet Japonaise and an assortment of nigiri like the Hamachi, Kanpachi, Tai, Hotate, and The filet medium rare was pretty good and the nigiri quality was okay. The only real standout was the Kanpachi. The nigiri quality is honestly about a 3.5 out of 5. If you are looking to eat mostly nigiri for your meal, there are much better spots throughout LA and the OC. The service was friendly but felt rushed because it was Valentine's Day, so it was understandable because I know that they probably booked as many people as possible for that night. The vibe of the restaurant is probably what gives this place so much praise. It is a fun and vibey atmosphere and would be a good place to take a date or have a fun night out with friends. One of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I came here for my birthday dinner with friends, and the experience was extremely disappointing due to the way the menu pricing was explained to us. Our server told our party that we could split the $88 Katana's Izakaya Feast between two couples. Since it sounded like a lot of food, I asked several questions about the portions and pricing to make sure we understood exactly what we would be getting. My best friend and I both wanted to share the feast with our significant others, so we asked for clarification two or three times before ordering. Based on the server's explanation, we believed each couple would be sharing one $88 Izakaya Feast. However, when the bill arrived, we were shocked to see that we were charged $176 per couple, which ended up being the standard $88 per person instead of the shared option we thought we were ordering. When we asked about it, the server explained that the kitchen initially placed only one order and that he told them he would bring out a second one. At no point did he make it clear that this would result in what effectively became four individual charges, rather than two shared feasts. We specifically asked multiple times because we didn't want to spend a huge amount of money for small portions, and we relied on his explanation when placing our order. When the manager came to speak with us, he was not very understanding of our confusion or how misleading the situation felt. The only solution offered was 15% off the Izakaya Feast, which did not really address the issue. Overall, the food was fine, but the lack of transparency with pricing and the way the situation was handled by staff left a very bad impression--especially on what was supposed to be a birthday dinner. My advice to future diners would be to double-check pricing and portions very carefully before ordering. read more

This is officially my new favorite restaurant. Great ambience, quick service, and everyone is sooo friendly and welcoming. I had high expectations because I've been to their sister restaurant, Sushi Roku, and loved it there. This place is even better!! We came here to celebrate a birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special for us. They gave us free miso soup when our dessert was taking awhile (we didn't even order dessert! they gifted this to us). The sauce on the hamachi diced is insane, we kept the plate to eat it with our nigiri. The hanabi was perfectly crispy and fresh. Lobster mein had a lot of flavor and big pieces of lobster. The sea bass skewer was cooked perfectly and tasted so good. I recommend the yellowtail nigiri the most, but all of the ones we tried were SO FRESH and buttery and melted in our mouths we had to order another round after.
