We went here for our anniversary, and it was an experience we will cherish forever. Our amazing waiter Nate convinced us to do the omakase, which featured dishes specially curated for our tastes. We enjoyed several rounds of fresh and flavorful sashimi, sushi, appetizers, and the star of the show - the big fish from the secret menu. Everything was absolutely delicious, from the drinks to the desserts, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for, and the service was top notch. We've been here several times and can't wait to return!

We were expecting a better experience at Katana which was just "ok" at best. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience looks promising from the website and the street, but dead inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was very nice but they were clearly understaffed with many tables going un-bussed long after the customers departed. Other than the Black Cod Robata which was excellent, most of the dishes were a bit meh and overpriced for the quality."

Met some friends for dinner the other night at Katana. The restaurant was never on my radar, but was brought to my attention and had to try it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First, the ambiance. Just wonderful, inside and out. From the patio atmosphere to the indoor dim lighting providing that romantic mood, Katana oozes vibe. Also, on the patio, a live DJ keeping you entertained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat outside, on the patio, and started with drinks. The Tropical Hibiscus has a tequila base with passion fruit, lime, coconut and pomegranate. You don't really get the passion fruit flavor you're looking for, but the drink was still refreshing. The Matcha Miruku Sour is great to look at initially, with the Ube foam on top, and the cocktail has a whiskey base with pineapple, coconut and matcha. You get that matcha flavor on the middle notes while the Ube hits first, but it was all very balanced. The lychee Martini was also tasty, no complaints. For food, we started with two rolls, the Katana and the White Lotus. The katana comes with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura topped with tuna, yellowtail and spicy mayo. The white lotus consists of shrimp tempura, avocado and asparagus topped with albacore, crispy onions, wasabi truffle soy. The white lotus was more flavorful, between the two. The chicken fried rice was pretty basic, while the wagyu skewers were cooked well, juicy with good seasoning. For entrees, the wagyu short rib was seasoned well but felt a little overcooked and really didn't stand out. The wagyu chimichurri was also decent but didn't leave a lasting impression either, while the fillet comes precut, cooked at the temperature you desire. Mine was rare, as I ordered, while another at the table also ordered a filet, rare, but it came more medium. And eating mashed potatoes with chopsticks was a first for me, but we managed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, great ambiance inside and out, with staff who are very attentive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks are tasty and the sushi rolls worked, as did those skewers. The entrees felt like they just missed the mark, unfortunately.

Katana still really is that girl. My friends and I came to celebrate and this restaurant did not disappoint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From service to ambience to food and drinks everything checked the box and the vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a mix of drinks the drinks are strong, but delicious. The sushi is very fresh and full of flavor. We decided to go to Omakase route and we were able to dine on the chefs most popular pieces since this was the first time for most of us choosing the Omakase route was perfect. It was such a beautiful night. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a live DJ who was playing great house music and everyone around was beautiful and there to enjoy a wonderful evening.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would not recommend anyone bring their children. It does not appear to be very family friendly so leave the kiddos at home for this one[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

Bombbbbb!! Best experience, from the food to the service to the ambiance. Everything was 10/10. Special shout out to our server DJ & the manager Christian for taking special care of us and making our night so special. The food was epic 10/10!!! We had a whole feast!! Their patio is really amazing, good vibes- esp with the dj! We can't wait to come back and have an amazing dining experience again.

Right in the heart of West Hollywood. Valet parking is available below the building which is also private residence They do a lot of take out. The food is visually appealing and played well for large parties. The sushi was not unique. We had a tough time telling the difference between them. Robata (skewers) were delicious as was the calamari. Service was quite good also

The staff here is so nice, so easy to talk to and they offer amazing menu items to try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is Japanese family style, so we had so much fun sharing everything.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The beef skewers were a favorite, they also had so many vegan items to accommodate for lent. The drinks were sweet the sunkissed mocktail had a unique sweet and tangy taste that reminded me of a flower. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the best part is that this comes with an amazing view![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

One of my favorite HOT SPOT in Los Angeles!! I've been here several times, and I must say they never disappoint. The service is TOP NOTCH; friendly attentive staff, and quick delivery! Very trendy atmosphere, however it's a lil dark inside. Everyone is dressed classy, and having a great time. Food is 10/10 serving up the best sushi, vegetables, desserts, and drinks! Although, I come for the Big Fish Special..It's a must try! I highly recommend Katana it's a LA Staple!

This is located close to where i live so I've walked and driven by it numerous times. Too many to count. Each time, I was always intrigued, but never bothered dropping by. Bad timing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At night, it always looked so magical with all the lights on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Me and a friend walked over from Greystone. Our original destination ended up being a bust so my friend made a quick resy then we proceeded to mosey over. We were so giddy walking up them steps facing Sunset. It's so dreamy up there specially with the lights on. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The sun had just set as we got seated outside so the view from our table was pretty magical.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Sirens be damned lol. DJ did a great job explaining everything to us as first timers. We ended up opting for the classic feast menu which honestly was the perfect amount of food. We were able to try a little bit of everything. From beginning to end, our dinner was exceptional. In all ways. The guy who dropped off our dishes had the best personality. Shame on me for not getting his name. He was so lovely. He had a different joke every single time he came over. Had me loling. DJ was attentive and had the best energy. He did such a great job taking care of us. Food wise, the highlights for me were: Tuna sashimi which was the first dish we were served. The presentation was sexy and my palate was awoken. That citrus base was wow. Sushi selection. It was a LOT. Truthfully, I didn't think we'd be given that much after all the meats. Can't pick which was best because they were all winners. Electric Koi cocktail - hands down the best drink I've had this year and it's only February. Another 10/10 on the presentation. I tapped out after2 cocktails. S/O to the bartender for making strong drinks. Thank you Team Katana for a lovely experience. We've clearly been missing out. Can't wait to come back to try more dishes with the rest of our familia.

One of the best lychee martinis in town. Very smooth and not overly sweet. The sushi was also amazing. I got the tuna jalapeño roll which easily became my favorite roll in town as well. The service was fast and pleasant even though it was Valentine's Day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the dim lighting as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would love to come again

Have not been here in awhile. Decided to take my sister here for her birthday and we had a blast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Always good good and a good time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

10/10 one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at! It was so good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great Ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Try the miso cod.

The DJ on Saturday really set the tone of the night. Mostly came for the vibes and good sushi and it was just that. Everything we tried was pretty good, but just pretty good. What I enjoyed most is that they did not rush us. We continued to order as the night carried on and Shaina was very gracious about it. We tried the DINE LA menu which ends August 8th. It comes with yellowtail serrano, spicy tuna, shrimp wrapped with bacon skeweres (that we subbed for sea bass skewer because of the bacon), chicken meatballs, aged ribeye skewer, tuna, salmon, albacore, and a white lotus roll. We also additionally ordered mackerel nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, green beans, uni, hirame, and toro. And had a couple of cocktails that were ok. Oh, our favorite was the seafood ceviche!! We didn't order it but got to try it and liked it a lot. Probably the best thing we ate.

    Is there a happy hour?

Yes, Monday-Friday from 5:30-7 at the bar!

What's the dress code? Are heels a must?

It's LA and it's a happening place, so heels 👠 would be nice but it's NOT a must.

Do they still have the filet mignon wrapped asparagus?

Yes still they have the filet mignon

    One person reservation or bar?

    Bar

Is the outside dining better than the inside? I'm taking a friend for her birthday and would like it to be a vibe :)

We sat inside and loved the music. The castle look of the restaurant, vibe and view makes the outside gorgeous so next time we will dine outside at night.

What would be a total price range for party of two?

Totally depends on what you order but I would say starters range from $10-20, sushi rolls range from $18-30 and poultry/seafood/steak are served in the form of individual skewers and range from $10-30.…

Do they have all you can eat?

No they do not have all you can eat options. The portions are generous.

Do they serve hookah at Katana restaurant?

    Nope

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

The restaurant isn't crowded on a Thursday evening and I was seated immediately. Original ramen 5/5 has a stronger chicken broth flavor. Lemon butter ramen 4/5 is masked more with the buttery and creamy flavor. So the chicken broth flavor isn't as strong. Miso teri bowl 5/5 has a charcoaled flavor and is favored well by my group. Gyoza 5/5 is okay. You can't go wrong with gyoza. Overall, the ramen this restaurant used is a wheat type, not egg. The ramen noodles have speckles of wheat on them and appear much more clear. My table thought the wheat flavor was too overwhelming while I didn't think so. I definitely like the original ramen more because it has a stronger chicken f

Instead of the traditional nori typically used for handrolls, they served a salted, crispy version. While some diners may enjoy the added texture, it wasn't quite for me. It reminded me of the seasoned seaweed used in Korean kimbap--similar to what I buy at Costco and use at home--which took away from the experience I expect from a classic handroll. The fish itself was fresh and above average, especially considering the lunch special pricing. Overall, it was a solid meal, but if I order this again, I would definitely request traditional nori to better complement the quality of the fish.

Was a full house and wasn't greeted at the door until about 5 minutes later - was definitely busy. Had an RSVP and was sat shortly after being seen. The menu is pretty standard handroll and yakitori fare, with a few specialty handrolls. Ordered a crispy rice, a few handrolls as well as the pork belly skewers. The crispy rice was pretty spot on and the pork belly skewers were on point. Wish I actually tried a few more of the other meat skewers. The handrolls were fine, but a little over-seasoned. I think others may like it as there's different flavors going on, but I was hoping to taste more of the fish. Another plus of this place is the price is reasonable for being in that Beverly Hills-ish area. I'd recommend if you're wanting to get into sushi and handrolls, as well as if you're looking for a nice ambiance without the sticker price that comes with it around the BH area.

The matcha mochi chocolate cake was so soft, gooey with strong matcha flavor! Great way to end the meal. It's on a poppin street on West Hollywood. We walked to Dayglow for matcha and the Pacific Design Center for inspiration.

It has the warm, welcoming feel of a family-owned business. We ordered the Kiss of Fire roll, spicy tuna roll, and a selection of nigiri (I've attached photos of all of them). Everything was delicious and clearly made with very high-quality fish. On top of that, it's incredibly well-priced compared to nearby alternatives. Excellent value for the quality. We will definitely be returning!

We already had good street parking nearby, so we just walked over. Because it's on Fairfax near Melrose, parking definitely depends on the time and day -- it can get tricky in this area. We didn't notice any signs for parking in the back, so street parking might be your best bet. Food: We ordered three items, and everything we tried was solid, but the standout for us was the creamy ramen. We shared a bowl, but honestly, I would've happily eaten a whole one by myself if I had known how good it was. The prices were pretty reasonable for the area, and portion sizes felt fair. Service: The staff was friendly. Service was smooth, and our food came out in good time. Overall: A nice casual spot for sushi and ramen in the Fairfax/Melrose area. Good food, friendly service, and decent prices. I'd definitely come back, especially for that ramen.

I came solo to place an order to go, and I was offered water while I waited. The place was cute and comfy. The lady that helped me for the day was really nice. Lunch specials and happy hour is available. I ordered a baked salmon roll and it was ready in about 10 minutes. It was good, but that eel sauce really topped it off! I'll definitely be back to try more goodies. ... on a separate occasion, I came back for the lunch special which was the Bento box C. I got the California roll and chicken teriyaki. It came with miso soup and an orange and it was so good! I definitely enjoyed it. Thank you!
