First time finally trying Morton's The Steakhouse the location is beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating right on the water, which made the dinner even better. We started with the wagyu meatballs and lobster bisque. I'm definitely a meatball and lobster bisque connoisseur so I always order them when I see them on a menu. The meatballs had great flavor, but came out a little cooler than I personally prefer for me, meatballs NEED to be piping hot. The lobster bisque didn't disappoint at all. They also bring out their famous pull-apart onion bread which was delicious (a little messy lol but they warn you beforehand). For dinner, I had the petite center-cut filet mignon medium with truffle fries and honestly it was the PERFECT combo. I was hungry, but not trying to overdo it, and this portion was just right. The Bubbles & Bites special was the only reason why I went. My friend requested it for her birthday. The Wagyu sliders were excellent and the fries were sooo good. We did sit at the high top tables and the service was horrible! Our server disappeared and after getting all of the dishes picked up, we had to flag a manager down just to get the check! This was my first time visiting Morton's and the first steakhouse I've been to in a few months and I must say I really wasn't impressed at the all. It was typical steak houses prices but the food was not up to par. I had the filet and there was nothing special about it at all as far as flavor and the lobster tail was just ok. I had mash potatoes and Brussels for the sides and they were just ok as well. This location is attached to the Hyatt hotel so it's a busy area. The service was great but unfortunately it did not deliver on my expectations. Not sure of other steak houses in Jacksonville but I don't think I'd be going here again. read more

Hubby took me to have a celebration for another milestone at my job and of course Morton's was my go to! The service was amazing per usual, food hit the spot and atmosphere A1! Went to Morton's to experience their bubbles and bites special. It includes 2 sliders of either chicken or beef, truffle fries, and a choice between champagne or a vodka martini for $30. I chose the beef and my friend chose chicken and we split it. The fries were ok. But they do give you A LOT. Now I tried the chicken slider, it was delicious. It had some kind of pickled veggie on the bottom, it was so good. My only take away is the chicken to bread ratio was off, so I did get more bread than chicken. Now the burger. It was really good, it had a grill taste as if it cooked on top of charcoal. It was amazing. The veggies were fresh and the patty to bread ratio was perfect. The BEST thanksgiving I could've asked for! The turkey roulade is a much better (moister) version of the dry turkey we are used to on Thanksgiving. All the sides smacked as well. Don't skip the sweet potato casserole!! My server Erin was very friendly and attentive. The manager even took off the extra charge for the sweet potato casserole and chocolate cake due to a (reasonable!) wait for the main course. All in all a 11/10 experience. If you don't feel like cooking on turkey day you can't go wrong with dining at Morton's! I'm sure their regular menu is great as well. read more

They came quickly and were very good. Highly recommend these. For dinner, we both ordered the filet mignon and lobster. Sides are served family style, and we chose au gratin potatoes and creamed corn. There were only a couple of other people in the place. It took a long time to get our food. At 6:20 we asked about our entrees. Stating we still had time to do something else if they could not meet our schedule. The food was out in about 2 minutes after that. The service was not super attentive after we ordered. This was only a problem because we were running out of time. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and the lobster was great. The au gratin was my wife's idea, and I am not a huge fan, but it was the best choice for our plan. The creamed corn was exceptional. We flagged our server down to get a box and bill. The hostess seemed to think they were perfect getting us out with 8 minutes to spare. There are several other high-end steak houses in Jacksonville. This one was our least favorite. Dim lit which was very nice, also it was very comfortable as far as a/c is concerned. We started with 12 raw oysters they were big and very fresh! Wife had French Onion soup, she said it was the best she ever had! I wouldn't know I hate onions! For Dinner I had the filet Oscar style, it was cooked to perfection! And the Bernaise sauce was some of the best ever. Also had loaded baked potato it was giant and amazing! Wife had Cajun ribeye, she was blow away by the flavor! She also got the lobster Mac and cheese and couldn't stop talking about it! It was her birthday they printed out little cards (with the wrong date, but still cool) that said happy birthday! My wife and I were really looking forward to trying this place, but overall the experience did not come close to matching the price tag. We split several dishes, starting with a cup of onion soup, which was hands-down the best I've ever had--rich, flavorful, and perfectly executed. The scallops appetizer was also excellent, and the potatoes au gratin were outstanding. The Brussel sprouts were just okay. Unfortunately, the sea bass was a major disappointment. It had an extremely fishy taste, to the point where it was difficult to eat. For the price point, we expected far better quality. The bigger issue, though, was the service behind the bar. We watched the bartender serve a glass of wine in a glass that had lipstick on it. When this was pointed out, she did replace the glass--but then poured the same wine from the dirty glass into the new one. As someone who's been a bartender before, I can say with certainty this is unacceptable and frankly pretty gross. In total, we spent $178 for the meal, plus $30 tip and $20 valet. For what we received, it was way too expensive. We might return someday--but if we do, it'll be for the onion soup and nothing else. At these prices, the overall quality and attention to detail simply weren't there. read more

You're probably not going to believe this, but I had the filet mignon sliders and a shrimp lettuce wedge total for both 24 bucks unbelievably tasted so good. My two bartenders were super nice Shanice and Ashley. Or was it Alyssa? I'm sure it started with an A I will definitely be back. Went for an early Friday night dinner before a show. Made a reservation and got the text our table was ready just before we arrived. I like that! So often I arrive to a reservation and still have to wait. Started off with a passion margarita (just the right amount of heat from the hot honey!) and a lavender cosmo. I am super picky about cosmos and this one was one of the best. Smelling the lavender sprigs while drinking really enhances the flavors. The bread came out so warm and delicious. The butter was perfectly softened. Difficult to not fill up on it! Our appetizer was bacon wrapped scallops - excellent. They tasted fresh! I'm not sure what the sauce was? I didn't get to ask and can't pin down the flavor but it was enjoyable. We both had prime Cajun ribeye cooked medium rare. It came out cooked exactly right and the Cajun flavor was awesome. I think the garlic butter would be great in this and I regret not getting it. We also had mashed potatoes and truffle fries for the sides (I love truffle fries. Don't come at me for fries at a fancier restaurant ). Fries were pretty good but didn't feel like they were quite worthy of a nicer restaurant. The mashed potatoes - highly recommend. Creamy and flavorful. Our server had wonderful recommendations without being pushy. She gave great explanations on some of the questions we had and was quick to get our leftover food packed up and our check when we realized we wouldn't have time for dessert. There were so many good options on the dessert menu so I will definitely need to make it back to try one or many of them! Only real complaint is the parking situation. Valet is prohibitively expensive (due to being located in a hotel. I get it but yikes). Not a ton of street parking or other options though on a Friday night. Anyone who knows downtown Jax knows. And in this particular instance, there were so many box trucks blocking a lot of the spaces on the road on one side of the hotel. It was such a bummer on a drizzly night. read more

I have always tried to avoid big chain restaurants. But Friday night, it was a good idea. You walk into Morton's and you immediately know you are in a high end steak house. The hostess's were not too busy with their iPhones. They were very professionally dressed and spoke in complete educated sentences. Showed our party of three immediately to our table and displayed the type professionalism you would expect from a Morton's or high end steakhouse and in the setting and ambience. Followed by Tim our server who was on point, engaging and actually had a personality that proved it was his profession. Drinks were ordered served and now the dance of dishes began to arrive and everything was well prepared and presented. You get what you paid for, and this is not one plate at a time and send this back type of operation. Large plates and a number call for more than one server. And they handled this very well. With all the praise, don't forget these are human beings, doing hopefully the best that money can pay for. So last night was great and hopefully in a few weeks or months when I return? After the Jacksonville Jaguars game tonight, we dropped into Morton's in Jacksonville for what we thought would be a quick bite -- and it turned into one of the best post-game meals we've ever had. Our server Lou absolutely crushed it. From the moment we sat down, he was dialed in -- warm welcome, quick service, and expert recommendations that had us rethinking what "just a quick meal" even means. Let's talk steaks -- Lou knew every cut like an artist describing his craft. He guided us toward the perfect ones for how we each like them cooked, explained the flavor profiles like a sommelier of steak, and he wasn't wrong -- every bite was next-level melt-in-your-mouth perfection. You could taste the char, the butter, the love. And just when we thought it couldn't get better -- enter the legendary lava cake. Lou hyped it up like it was a grand finale... and wow, it was. As for anywhere , I can't not say it is , but for me it was one of the best I had . I had their sirloin and it was cooked to perfection: so tender and cooked the way I like it . I would say other steakhouses need to step it up when compare Morton's sirloin. One can taste the quality of the cut of meat. The cut was so tender , that if one did not have teeth, one would not have any trouble chewing it ...yes ! That tender.... According to Morton's website , "Morton's seeks to provide not only memorable cuisine but a memorable experience. ". I think they kept their word. The ambience was upscale and romantic, with warm earth colors, dim lighting and comfortable seating . Service was great ! Overall, I was disappointed. I had heard that Morton's is considered to be one of the worlds best steakhouses so while at a conference in Jacksonville, I decided to go. Service was fantastic, the gratin potatoes were fantastic, the less extensive, but that's about the end of the positives. I ordered the New York strip cooked to medium rare, and found it to be loaded with gristle and quite tough making it tough to chew. Considering this was the star of my meal, I was incredibly disappointed. I ordered crème brûlée for dessert and it was delicious, but about 4 mm deep so it was only enough to fill one of my molars. I cannot recommend this restaurant if you want steak. read more

This Happy Hour was absolutely fantastic! I'm a big fan of HH, but I'm also quite discerning because many restaurants use kitchen leftovers for their HH menu. However, I don't mind as long as the food is of high quality. We started with drinks, and both were expertly crafted cocktails. The hostess who was shopping on her phone, told me she couldn't seat me in the restaurant and that there were spaces at the bar or at the high top tables next to the bar. That was in a noisy area. She said they had several big parties (I see one in the back room now) and over 15 open tables! I asked if I waited if I could get a table. She went for a walk I. The restaurant and came back and told me she could seat me. Felt like she didn't want me to be there! Very odd. The French onion soup needed flavor and more cheese. It was okay but should have had cheese across the top that was bubbling. I agreed to bread. Didn't realize it was going to cost me. I got my steak without any extras. After seeking recommendations from fellow scoopers for the perfect steakhouse to celebrate my birthday, we decided on Morton's Steakhouse and it proved to be an excellent choice. We started with their famous onion loaf of bread which was absolutely addicting! For our appetizer, we had to try their Wagyu meatballs along with some delicious French Onion soup; so far everything was outstanding. For our entrees, we opted for the Miso marinated sea bass and the 16oz New York strip steak both cooked perfectly.
