It is a sister restaurant and to Stoney River Steakhouse. The best appetizer is the Steak Rolls, the best entree is Mr. Jack's Crispy Chicken or the Steak N Fries, and the best (seasonal) dessert is the Powerful Stuff. We only came in here for a quick drink after checking out homes in this area. Great social distancing even at the bar they had clear dividers all along the bar. The food looked amazing especially the ribs with fries and coleslaw and the price for the size of the plate was not bad at all. Husband ordered a red oak which was a little flat he said but I ordered a Tito's and soda 2 limes and a splash of cranberry...so good! Also bartenders were prompt and efficient ! We were looking for a nice Saturday night spot to grab a hearty meal. J Alexander's seemed to be a great option in the Crabtree area, and they had ample parking so it was easy in and out. Reservations were hard to come by, so we took a gamble on walk-in seating. To our surprise they were able to accommodate my party of 4 immediately. Inside you walk into a cozy but modern eclectic ambiance. The bar sits to the left with clear plastic barriers between every 4 seats. Masks were prevalent everywhere and cleanliness was on point. Tables in the dining area were spread out and the staff was great at situating the patrons in an orderly fashion. We got seated at a booth and immediately ordered the appetizer Steak Rolls and Caesar Salads. The Steak Rolls are a must have, and the salad came in a cold plate which made it cool and crisp. I absolutely loved that added touch! We shared our entrees so I was able to indulge in the Crab Cakes with Orzo, Rotisserie Chicken, and the Filet Mignon with Béarnaise Sauce. We tacked on shoestring fries, garlic mashed potatoes, and the Mac n Cheese. All of it was flavorful and my only regret was not wearing my stretchy pants lol Our server was friendly and checked in on us regularly. I took my boyfriend and his family here fun a Saturday lunch to honor my dad's birthday (he passed last year). We all enjoyed our yummy meals, great service, and nice atmosphere! I had the grilled salmon and sautéed spinach. Everyone at the table had something different. The table shared the cheesecake and key lime pie for dessert. The Steak rolls are by far the best Appetizer I've had in a long time. It was our first time there and we were recommended to go here from everyone in the area. I got the Steak & Fries, MAC and Cheese, and Prime Rib. Fries were bomb! We love a shoe string fry but honestly the steak was just okay. Prime rib was definitely the better way to go than the sirloin and felt like more bang for your buck. We would go back again but most likely not for the steak. read more

For an appetizer, we had the steak rolls and queso with chips (already starting to feel full). Steak rolls are a must! For the entree, I had the strip steak with Caesar salad, which was a special that day. My steak was seasoned perfectly, and the salad was a typical Caesar. I would love to try something else next time, as the food surrounding us looked amazing and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. GOD AWFUL SERVICE. Brought three French press coffees, no cups for ten minutes. Brought deserts: one ice cream, no spoon for another ten minutes. Carrot cake, no forks also for ten minutes. We went here in August while visiting some dear friends. I've been here once before for the carrot cake and an after dinner drink and this time we came for dinner. It's a very busy restaurant, the hostess was friendly but I found a lot of the staff running in front of us, which I find to be unprofessional. We ordered our appetizers and entrées and all of our appetizers came out at different times which was baffling to me since two of us ordered salads my friend ordered soup and I ordered the queso with chips and mine came out last. I was still eating my appetizer when they started bringing out the entrées which again I found to be unprofessional. Two of our friends ordered the filet mignon which they said was not cooked properly, my friend had the salmon which he enjoyed and my veggie burger was not bad. It was like they were just rushing us out the door. We had the fantastic carrot cake again, but overall I found the food to be just OK and typical of a chain restaurant. INTRO: J. Alexander's Restaurant is an upscale, mid-tier restaurant located beside Crabtree Valley Mall that serves American cuisine. ENTREE 1: Slow Roasted Prime Rib ($35.00) - Aged and roasted on the bone, served au jus with smashed potatoes. I had asked my server for the meat to be cooked "rare", but I guess he must have misheard me because there was no blood on my steak whatsoever. If you're someone who enjoys eating steak the PROPER way, then make sure you ask for a rarer steak than you normally order because the steak will be slightly overcooked. Nonetheless, the size of the prime rib was generous and felt worth it for the price. The original entree comes with smashed potatoes by default, but the side can be switched out for any other side. I highly recommend getting the "Not Your Ordinary Mac and Cheese". This mac and cheese is made of pasta shells and has a nice layer of bread crumbs that adds a slight crunch to the texture. The prime rib also comes with a tin of creamed or raw horseradish and a dipping sauce for the meat. 8/10 (knocked off 1 point because it was overcooked) ENTREE 2: Mahi Mahi ($22.00) - The fish is extremely tender, to such an extent that it almost feels like butter if that makes any sense. The fish was also beautifully seasoned and the portion size was acceptable for the price. It comes with a side of zucchini pasta, which is pretty much steamed zucchini stands with tomato pasta sauce. It was fairly bland for my taste. I would recommend getting a different side if possible. 7/10 VENUE: The seating arrangement is a mixture of booths and tables. The lights are fairly dimmed for the "romantic" ambience. There is a large wine rack located in the back of the restaurant that is out on display. PARKING: There is a parking lot with an abundance of parking spots. I would be very surprised if parking is ever unavailable. WORTH IT? YES, I HIGHLY recommend getting the prime rib! I've been to Angus Barn 3 times, but I honestly think the prime rib at J. Alexander is far superior. This was my first meal sitting down in a restaurant since COVID-19. I must say it was pleasantly surprising how well they've planned out the seating. They have tables and booths set up with social distancing, meaning every other table they have someone seated and none of the tables next to booths were open. It definitely made you feel at ease with going out to eat. To get to the food, it was absolutely delicious! This might be my new favorite restaurant. This place is located right next to an apartment complex there's plenty of parking. This is a sports bar place that is relaxed setting. Upon entering we were greeted and seated despite not having a reservation. The server was nice and knowledgeable. The food was great and filling. I wantedwanted desert when I first walked in because I saw someone's, but was not able to eat any dessert after eating dinner. I was so full. I had the bacon burger with broccoli. I have dined at J.Alexander's twice so far and the food and overall experience are particularly good at this establishment, which is located right near Crabtree Valley Mall. We stopped in for a late lunch on Friday 11/26 after our son's football game at Cardinal Gibbons HS which is nearby. To start, my wife and I opted for a cocktail and kiddo with a root beer (to celebrate a win). I went with the 21 Manhattan Martini which is made with Bulliet Rye Whiskey, sweet vermouth, and bitters. It was delish. One only though. My wife got the Elderflower Mojito. She enjoyed it very much. On today's visit we went with a shared order of Deviled Eggs for an appetizer. The flavoring of the eggs was fine and the bacon on top was crisp and cooked right. However, they came right out of the fridge. They were cold, and I prefer deviled eggs a little warmer. But they were tasty and are a good choice for an appetizer. My son ordered the Cobb Salad which we split three ways. The greens were fresh and the ingredients tasty. He ate most of it. The kid is sprouting like a weed recently. My wife ordered the cheeseburger with a side of fries. Yep, a cheat day for her. She said the burger was tasty and seasoned just right and it was cooked to order (medium rare). My son went with a fried chicken sandwich. He ate some of it and the rest was boxed another for another day. I sampled a bite of the chicken. It was moist and the breading was fried crispy and has a nice taste to it. Thumbs up. I got the Ferdinand Sandwich special. It was a take on a French Dip and came with a sauce that was similar but seemed a bit creamier. It was good. The fries were of the thin cut variety which I prefer. Overall, J Alexanders provides a genuinely nice dining experience. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. Came here with my parents. It was very dark inside-- such mood lighting. They had daily specials including $10 sushi on Wednesday's. The side salad is huge! The fat was not rendered and the meat really did not have any detectable seasoning but salt. The au jus was just something out of a box. The smashed potatoes on the side were very dry.
