First time trying this restaurant on Mother's Day and extremely impressed. The portions are huge and everything is presented so beautifully. Ribs were 10/10. Only thing I did not like were the drinks- straight juice and very little alcohol.

Great service! Great food! If you can ask for Ivelisse as your waitress. She was amazinggggg! It was my first time there and she let us know what were the most popular options as well as her favorites. Anything we needed she got us quickly!! She even let us try the wines before we ordered our glass. All of the employees were great on 5/23! Great hospitality and food. The New York strip and loaded potato was so good!! The burger and Mac and cheese were good as well! I will definitely be back soon.

We were in the area after a long day out and the honey pot picked J. Alexander to grab a bite! He had come before with his mom and loved it so I was excited to come. If he liked it, it's good! We were sweaty from being out all day so we opted for the bar. Ambiance is upscale/casual if that makes sense. I felt comfortable coming in with shorts but you could definitely dress up as they do have a dining area. Staff were super hospitable from the front, to the bartender, to the servers. Let's get into it! Lobster Roll - Great! I love a shoe string French fry! Yummers! Cypress Salad - Was absolutely delicious! Can't wait to come back to enjoy more of the menu!

Excited to see another quality restaurant pop up in Annapolis Town Center and found the perfect time to make that trip. Mother's Day 2025 it is!! Mom dressed in her Sunday's best, and was treated like a star. So many staff members stopped by our table to compliment how pretty she was. We didn't even have to eat, she was overwhelmed just by that.. Lol The food was outstanding. My all time favorite steak is the "Houston's Hawaiian" Ribeye and J. Alexander's must have stolen one of their chefs because their "Steak Maui" is identical to the Houston's Hawaiian!! I was in heaven! My mother really enjoyed her jumbo fried shrimp but her loaded baked potato took the cake!! J. Alexander is borderline upscale but reasonably priced if you're not trying to spend a fortune for a quality meal. The design is a mix between traditional and contemporary, so definitely nothing over the top. I love this new edition to the Annapolis restaurant scene and we'll most certainly be back!!!

This is a true after church restaurant. It's always clean, the service is impeccable and the food is so good. All the dishes have a large quantity and taste amazing from the appearance to the seasoning. Everyone should eat here at least once.

I did not think this was a birthday worthy dinners. My friend took me out for my birthday that is coming up in a few days. I had the chicken strips which were underwhelming. I had to ask for the croutons. There was nobody in the dining room. The waiter just disappeared. The ambiance was lovely.

I have to review J Alexander after my best friend and I were accommodated so greatly on Valentine's Day evening! It seems as if J Alexander was the place to be on Friday night! Many many couples were in attendance this night and last minute plan me, my best friend and I arrived on a whim not knowing if we'd get a seat. Lucky day, our hostest seated us right at our arrival and then.. a time was had! Great food (with big portions), great (strong) drinks, and great conversation commenced! Our server, Miguel kept our faces smiling and glasses full all night, and I would love to return!

Our first visit to J. Alexander's was the perfect way to end a great date night after the movies! The restaurant has a very nice vibe--warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed evening out. From start to finish, the service was excellent, and our server, Billy, took great care of us. The shrimp appetizer was so good, and the salad was extremely fresh. For entrées, the King Cut Prime Rib was cooked to perfection, and the Mahi Mahi with crab special was absolutely delicious--grilled perfectly with an almost Cajun blackened seasoning that was amazing. We ended the night with the absolutely delicious key lime pie. The only thing we regret is not taking more pictures--we were too busy enjoying the food! We'll be better prepared next time. This was our first visit to J. Alexander's, but it definitely won't be our last!

This was my first time trying J.Alexander and it just opened a few months ago in Annapolis. I popped in one afternoon for lunch with my girlfriend. It's a really beautiful restaurant perfect for a lunch meeting or a date. There is a huge bar, high tops, and quite a few tables up the ramp. My server for lunch was Mariah. She recommended great suggestions for our first visit & took great care of us. In addition to her, management even stopped by to make sure everything was to our liking. That was a special touch to let us know they care about their guest experiences. For drinks, I tried a couple martinis. I tried two of their handcrafted cocktails. I love that the martinis come with a little extra on the side. It's like 2 drinks for the price of 1. The bartender balanced them really nice. I highly recommend the Fleur-de-lis. For appetizers, we tried the Hong Kong shrimp, avocado bomb, and Huevo rolls off the special menu. The portion sizes were great and everything was flavorful. For entrees, I ordered the lobster roll and substituted the fries for the lemon Reggiano broccoli. My friend ordered the prime rib. For a side we were dying to try the not your ordinary Mac so we added that as well. The food came out in a timely manner. Let me just say both meals were AMAZING! I loved how they dressed the lobster roll up and the meat was so fresh! That broccoli is by far the best I had from a restaurant. I came home and tried to remake it for my lunch the next day. I sampled my friend's Prime Rib. It was cooked to perfection. I definitely can't wait to go back and order my own on the next visit. The Mac was really good for a restaurant. I usually don't order Mac at restaurants because not everyone can do Mac n Chz correct. They baked this Mac to perfection. I will def be ordering that again too. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream to split. If you are a chocolate lover this is for you!!!! J.Aelxander hit a home run with everything we had. Thanks again to the staff and management for making this a remomorable visit. See you again REAL SOON.

My partner and I used to visit a J. Alexander in Atlanta. It's been over 10 years but the nostalgia is still there. Here in Annapolis, the food was 10/10 Filet mignon and steak and frites - do it! My biggest rave is how hot and perfectly cooked the food was cooked. Oscar was our server, pleasant, professional and sealed the deal on the experience. We'll be back and there won't be a decade between visits. Ps. Liberty School Cab Sauv pairs great with both steaks.

A Favorite That Always Delivers Some restaurants become more than just places to eat--they become part of your memories. J. Alexander's is absolutely one of those places for me. I visited to celebrate a special anniversary and the achievement of a certification I had been studying hard for, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. From the moment we walked in, everything felt right. The ambiance was upscale yet welcoming, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. Service was outstanding--attentive without feeling overbearing--and the food was nothing short of perfect. The steaks were cooked exactly to temperature, with every bite packed with flavor. And then there's the carrot cake... truly a standout. Rich, decadent, and unforgettable, it was the perfect sweet ending to a night worth celebrating. Even now, I find myself thinking about that meal often. J. Alexander's isn't just a restaurant--it's my favorite spot, and it's a place I'll return to whenever I want to celebrate something special (or just want a flawless dining experience).

We had a reservation for 4 at 315pm on a Sunday. We were seated immediately. Everyone was awesome. The food was good. Husband said his roasted chicken was ok and could have been cooked a little longer. My friend said the Nashville chicken was ants but salty. We didn't get dessert. We were heading to a movie and didn't think it would do well in the heat of the trunk for later. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Restaurant was clean and well lit. Manager on the floor cake by and introduced herself - which was a great touch. I'd definitely go back again. They have a parking area adjacent to the restaurant which is really good

Side dishes had to be sent back because they were warm. Wine selection is large and varied. My old fashioned did not come with a large ice cube, so I reprimanded the server and he changed it out. Classy places serve them with a large ice cube! Service- Felt rushed. Maybe they didn't have enough servers. Ours could have been a bit more matured and experienced. Their smocks need to be whiter. If you are wearing white, it needs to be white and not have that unbleached used look. Value- I don't see it. Stoney River is a better value though their atmosphere is lacking. However, there is outside seating, which actually is a little more relaxed, if the weather is cooperative. App steak rolls: These are always a hit when going here. Sadly I think these are going away because the new owners want a more authentic Italian restaurant. Steaks: We ordered 3 10 oz filets. 2 were cooked perfectly, the third was very rare in the center when all of them were supposed to be medium. But my favorite food-and one that will draw me back, if only for carry out-was the creme brulee. I've had many of these over the years and never one this outstanding. The addition of the orange flavor to the burnt sugar topping is genius. I found the silly voices of the waiter as irritating as another reviewer on here. I came to the conclusion that it is not something the restaurant does but rather a quirk of this man. He was sweet and helpful so I think he has an unusual eccentricity. It was impossible to understand him when he switched voices. But it is not a deal breaker for us-service was outstanding and the proteins kept coming in rapid succession as long as our green box was up. Price is a bit of an issue. We can certainly afford $50 ish per person but as older patrons we just can't eat very much so it seems such a waste. (Wouldn't a senior citizen deal be a big draw???) All in all-we are fans and will be back for a time when we want fun with our food...

I'd like to give a 1.5 but I can't so I'll round up. First…read moreimpressions go along way unfortunately, and since we'd never been here before our party of 6 won't return. Someone in the group noticed the swirling tornado of trash right outside the front door. That didn't bother me, though I could see how someone would think that represents overall management and attention to detail. Just like a previous reviewer upon seating we got our glasses of water but waited about 30 minutes AFTER we'd drunk the glasses dry to get another. At least two of us asked for a refill during that time. So that's quite poor in itself. The first round of meat was actually incredibly delicious (it's why I went from 1 to 1.5 stars before graciously rounding to 2. Yes this could have been a 1 star review). The following rounds ranged from ok-to-good but nothing made us say "wow". Here the Star Rating killers... and I'll start with the big one. Or should I say Bug One. After about two rounds I happened to look down at my salad and saw several fruit flies trying to escape. Either they wanted a better dressing or wanted to go back to the trough, I dunno but at least 3 were trying to get off my plate depressa. You'll ask why I didn't say anything? This dinner was a lovely treat from family members who I may never see again so I didn't want to ruin their gift. I was however watchful to make sure none in the party went for a second helping at the insect bar. 2: I know it's a Brazilian place and the music is trying to accommodate that but unchecked playing of Sepultura over the speakers is a tough bite to swallow at a "nice restaurant". I'm sure someone spotified "artists from Brazil" and simply pressed play. 3. It's actually filthy in there. Sorry but grease builds up.
