A group of us tried this restaurant last night. The decor is beautiful and the service great. The food-meh. Several of us had the lobster rolls. The lobster meat was dry and tasteless. My steak lack flavor was there for early birthday. The calamari was delicious. I will give the Restaurant another try some other time.

I really wanted to try this place. Food was just bland. But I'm more surprised about the service. You're charging so much for this bad service? I went 20 minutes waiting to ask for ketchup. Why don't you have your servers check back in 2 minutes? Not worth the price. Waffle House offers better service. read more

This is a restaurant that I highly recommend. The service was impeccable from when we walked in without reservations. I would recommend reservations we came before 5 PM and by the time we left very busy. My husband and I had a table for 4 and it was very large and perfect for 4 people. Our server was Holland and never missed a beat when it came to service and our needs. Anyone who walked by if we had a plate, etc. took it so the table was always clean. The general manager came over to make sure everything was to our taste and brought a nice treat. Now for the food we wanted the artichoke appetizer, but not in season. So had Calamari and nothing special. The rings were small and really all you tasted was the breading (which was good). In this area there are lots of good restaurant that serve large, breaded Calamari. We ordered the Lobster Roll and French Dip. The Lobster Roll was very good with nice large pieces of lobster on the correct bread with butter on the side to pour the amount you wanted. Now the French Dip was fantastic, It was the best either of us had ever had. The meat was medium rare and on a perfect roll and the au jus sauce was perfect compliment to the sandwich. I highly recommend the Carrot Cake it was wonderful. We will be back to this wonderful new restaurant. read more

Visited J.Alexanders on a busy Friday night with some girlfriends . Drinks were delish, I had the midnight margarita. Highly recommend. We shared the crab dip(bread was delish) and Spinach queso dip. Staff was very attentive and mostly friendly. Main entrees, I had the swordfish which was on special, unfortunately the fish texture was very mushy and the broccoli was way too hard, but the wild rice was very good. Others in my party had the pork chop(amazing) shrimp and roasted chicken. I would go again, order the margarita and a different dinner. read more

Our service was perfect. All of our food was delicious except for the cheeseburgers. I've had 2 burgers there, one inside dining and one take out. They have no beef flavor and both were filled with big chunks of inedible gristle. Also, the kitchen staff needs to go a little easy on the salt. We first ate here when they opened. Dinner was surprisingly nice, the service was exceptional, and they had an impressive wine list. We actually thought this restaurant may give Ruth's Chris a run for their money. Tonight was a totally different experience. I felt as if I had stepped into the Greyhound bus terminal. The wait staff was incredibly unprofessional and inexperienced, and the bar was filthy. We were surrounded by drunk and otherwise incoherent patrons. Possibly the regulars at the bar at the Holiday Inn heard they were giving away scratch off lottery tickets. Permanently off our list! read more

Recently visited this restaurant for the first time. Ordered the beef filet with bernaise. Steak arrive properly cooked but not as tender as it should have been. Loaded baked potato arrived cool...not hot. It was cheerfully replaced. The worst aspect was the CHILLED red wine! Well meaning waitress said all their reds are chilled. Manager helped me and found me a nice red blend uncalled. I waited a while to visit this place. Won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Was excited to try this restaurant after GB departed as i had heard good things. Sad to say I was very disappointed. Service was slow and underwhelming. Sent one meal back and still came back undercooked. As for the second meal, blood rare French Dip ??? Not good. No need to return sad to say. Especially at that price point. read more

Great food, wonderful service : I attended a Christmas party with friends. Being gluten free, milk intolerant does not usually work out well for me at a new restaurant but thanks to a very caring waiter who checked all the boxes for my food choices it worked out oh so well. I had already read the menu on line and was not hopeful when I arrived . Our waiter helped me narrow down what I had chosen before I got there but a few things did not work for me. Between the waiter and the chef's input I chose the pork chop , broccoli and smashed potatoes. The potatoes had to be modified and the result was a wonderful very delicious meal ! My group of 7 were all very happy with our very diverse choices in particular me. My pork chop dinner was unexpectedly absolutely delicious ,cooked to perfection and served with care. read more

Everyone here at the bar is hustling, which they need to do because this place is packed on a Friday night. I husband got the Caesar salad with chicken and loved it. I got the cilantro shrimp and it was very very good. The service is divided among a bunch of people who are working their butts off! Yet they remain pleasant and smiling. In particular, Isaac went to a lot of trouble to get us water with, and without ice, and with lemon. There was no time to do that, but he did it pleasantly! read more

This place is amazing, I was expecting a reused Gordon Boercht (spelling?) but they remodeled the entire restaurant, and it is beautiful, including the bathroom. The service was incredible- they share every task as a group so you don't just have just one server. This may be the best food I have had in Annapolis. The chef really knows how to build flavor, really spectacular! Every dish was incredible! Get here while you still can, it will be completely packed at all times one day! read more

This place just opened about two weeks ago so we decided to give it a try. There is a wide variety of attire but if you dine in the dining room it is more like business casual. It is a little loud but that's because there isn't anything separating the bar from the dining room. Our server, Carolyn (Carrie), was superb! She was very attentive, personable, and professional. The staff seemed like they worked as a team, which is hard to find. The food and drinks were all really good. The prices were what you would expect to find at a nice restaurant. Slow service. Loud! Excellent appetizers and salad....really good salads! Salmon and potatoes are great. I would pass on the seared tuna.... Came out cold. Drinks were heavy in the ice....little drink! lol. Some growing pains... I will be back for the apps and salads. read more

My 5 stars are for the service and attendance from the waitress. She was able tell me one or two dishes in each section of the menu as her favorite. Also, she refilled my soda without me waving down someone for it. Overall, food was great too so nothing to complain...maybe the mac n cheese needs more favors. read more

Went there recently for the first time. I was extremely pleased. We ordered a range of food, from sandwiches to seafood to steak and everyone was highly pleased with their dishes. Second day open and I can say this place will be one of my go-to's. Service was stellar first off. Got the old fashion and midnight margarita which were a great size and tasted amazing! For appetizer the avocado bomb which was nothing like I've had before and was delicious. For entree the lobster roll and burger, both a solid dish and hard to find a good lobster roll around here. i hate to do this but the experience wasn't great- server was good but doing a hard sell, super loud and food was ok. Also, i get that's it's hard for restaurant management to manage screaming children but when the kids are at one table and that adults are doing nothing to quiet the kids (poor things were out late on a Sunday), but there's got to be something you can do. Phenomenal food; phenomenal staff; phenomenal atmosphere. But that's not what I'm looking for in a restaurant. Just kidding, it is exactly what I'm looking for and J Alexander's in Annapolis delivers and does so big time. I had the Mesa Burger and it was as good a burger as I've ever had - cooked perfectly with flavoring that was outstanding and not overpowering. My wife's Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was also well seasoned, not too spicy, but crisp and large. we had a very enjoyable conversation with Scott, our server. It is clear that J Alexander's has invested well-spent time in staff training, as all of its employees were very courteous and professional. my besty and i happened to be out in about in annapolis md and decided to try out j. alexander's restaurant, which was new to us. as we walked in we were pleasantly surprised at how nice and upscale it was inside. the staff was very welcoming and friendly. we both ordered crabcakes with red potatoes and broccoli. everything was so delicious! the crabcakes were very meaty and tasty. the potatoes were to die for and the brocolli was well seasoned. we had chocolate cake for desert which was very good also. we will be back to try some of their other entrees. overall i rate this restaurant a 5 out of 5!! read more
