Sawdust and trash

J & J cabinets did the cabinetry for our recent kitchen remodel. We meet with Jeremiah to go over the layout and design. He was very professional and helpful. Installation was a another experience. Clean up was minimal each day and on the final day of installation our house was left a mess. All of the boards were cut right in the kitchen with no care to keep any other part of the house clean. When we arrived home there was sawdust everywhere, sweatshirts left on the floor, trash, shims, and water bottles. Even the front porch was covered in sawdust. Lucky for us the electricians were cleaning up the mess from the cabinets when we arrived and our contractor came the next morning to finish the job. Furthermore, Josh was heard making unprofessional comments about prior work done in the house. UPDATE after posting this review we did have an issue with one of the cabinets not being sized correctly and an appliance not fitting. Our contractor reached out to J & J cabinets and Joseph arrived the next morning, a Saturday and fixed the issue. Based on their professionalism, even after our review, and the quality of work we have revised our initial rating.

I went with J and J cabinets after getting 3 other quotes. They had better products at similar prices and are easy to work with. They carry Kraftmade and Waypoint cabinets. We went with the Waypoint, which is owned by American Woodmark and made in Arizona. American Woodmark also owns Shenandoah and Timberlake sold at the box stores. The cabinets are solid wood all of the features you could want. Definitely take a look at J and J cabinets if your getting quotes for cabinets.

I couldn't be happier with my experience working with Ponce Countertops. From start to finish, the…read moreentire process was incredibly smooth, professional, and stress-free. Martin was exceptional throughout the project, he was highly communicative, always keeping me informed and promptly answering any questions I had. What really stood out was his expertise and guidance when it came to product selection. He offered thoughtful advice that made it easy to choose the right materials for both style and durability. The installation itself exceeded my expectations. Martin and his team handled the demo of the old countertop and backsplash quickly and efficiently, without cutting any corners. They worked with impressive speed while still maintaining excellent attention to detail, and the high quality of their workmanship was evident in every aspect of the finished product. It was clear they take pride in their work. Even more impressive was how clean and organized everything was once the job was complete. They made sure to thoroughly clean up the workspace, leaving my kitchen looking better than ever and ready to enjoy right away. On top of everything else, their pricing was very competitive, especially considering the level of quality and service provided. Overall, this was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. The professionalism, efficiency, quality of work, and value were top-notch. I would absolutely recommend Ponce Countertops to anyone looking for countertop installation, you won't be dissatisfied!

Separately, we also had the cabinets refinished so I've included phtotos of the before and after for comparison. Martin was a pleasure to work with and he was very supportive of our questions. Once we had identified a few quartzite slabs that we liked, he joined my wife to take a look at them and make sure they matched what we were looking for. He interacted with the manager of the stone store to make sure they removed the slabs from the stack so my wife could clearly see all of the slab face. We ended up picking two slabs. Communication throughout the process was very professional and he helped us manage a challenge with the size of the sink and made sure that what we purchased would work for our situation. We had one question post-install and he quickly came back to address the issue without a problem. I am stunned by how good the countertops turned out and how smooth the whole process was (even factoring in having the kitchen a mess for a while during the painting process). I highly recommend Ponce Countertops.

My husband walked through the process with the templator and was never informed of where the seams would be placed. The template showed no seams and a solid piece of quartz. At the installation though, we had two seams. I pushed back and requested a reinstall of one of the larger pieces so that it reduced the number of seams from 2 to 1. After some back and forth, we got it installed. I wish the templator made it clear what we were getting and to provide us an opportunity to change it rather than being surprised the day of. Communication with Rebecca at CCM was really clear. She set expectations about what the reinstall would look like, clarified with us that in order to make it one piece it would have to be curved (& not at 90 degree angles). We approved of that, and it turned out great. So happy to have worked with Rebecca and happy that CCM made it right.

If you're planning on a kitchen countertop installation through Home Depot or Lowe's, you'll almost…read morecertainly be working with California Crafted Marble as their installation partner. Ours was through Home Depot, and this review is based on that experience, which was NOT a good one. For starters, California Crafted Marble was supposed to contact me once everything was ordered through Home Depot. After 4 weeks, they had still not called or emailed, and so I had to initiate the process. This general lack of care on their part continued throughout. I had the unfortunate experience of being forced to work with a representative named Lorenzo. I had a number of specific questions about the job, in regard to scheduling and about the installation itself. Without exception, I found him to be rude, almost always condescending in his tone, and on several occasions, he lied to me outright about a number of important details. Any time I'd ask him any sort of direct question, he would invariably obfuscate and be as unspecific and vague as possible. I was genuinely baffled by this behavior, and yet it lasted throughout the entire experience from beginning to end. There were a number of attempts to bait-and-switch with new charges early on that were never part of the original quote, and that only added to my frustration. My experience with the measure tech was fine as was the final installation, however there were issues with the materials as they were prepped. In the one corner where two pieces are supposed to be cut such that the pattern flows seamlessly, the measurement/cut was/is off by 1/4". Similarly, the hole for the faucet was also off by the same amount - 1/4". Because we kept the original plywood from our previous counter, the location of the hole was important, but because the hole was off, we had to bore out the hole wider than the faucet which then required that I create an additional reinforcement piece underneath before it could be installed. Could we have rejected the materials for being cut incorrectly? Sure, but that would have started the clock all over, we would have had to wait an additional 4 weeks and I would have been forced to continue working with Lorenzo. The thought of that was unacceptable to me. In addition, there would be no guarantee that the pieces would be properly cut a second time. Perhaps other representatives at California Crafted Marble are more pleasant to work with, but if your job is through Home Depot, you might want to think twice.
