I'm a master automotive technician with over 40yrs experience, highly trained in automotive electrical and computer diagnostics/repair. I arranged to buy a used instrument cluster, but couldn't make the drive, so I sent a friend who offered to pick it up for me. When I saw the cluster, the lens was broken apart and the needles on the gauges were missing. I called and J&W said they had a good one I can exchange with. My customer refused to accept another used unit from this place and bought one himself, from Ebay. Worked perfectly and the mileage displayed was within a few hundred miles of the actual mileage on the vehicle, so it didn't even need programming. J&W refused to give a refund. Store credit only. Is this how they empty their dumpster? The cluster they sold was clearly broken, yet they had a good one, but didn't sell me that one first?!? It's an expensive round trip in gas for me, from my location, in my truck. That reduces the value of my store credit. Then if I wish to use my credit, another expensive round trip, so my trips cost more than my credit is worth, and my time spent is opportunity lost, so it's an absolutely worthless offer. For integrity, I would rate this business below zero. I avoid buying things online, but in this case, an unknown seller on an online marketplace was a better bet, and way cheaper. read more

My experience was terrible. For starters, their website needs updating. Website says $225 for labor but when I arrived it was $250 for labor. The website also states "Our expert rebuilder has been rebuilding Jeep steering columns for years (we lost count). We use a mix of OEM good used Jeep parts along with new aftermarket parts to rebuild your old steering column. We are meticulous and we get the job done right, fast and affordably." I believe I met Mr. Rebuilder because when I explained that I did NOT need a new key, and I did NOT need the horn fixed, he said "I can't fix it without including a new key etc." So I agreed and before I left he said "We will give you a call to let you know what else, if anything, it needs." I was expecting that call but never got it. Four days later I called them to check the status and was told "it's ready!" Went there, brought $300 cash ($250 for labor plus "any good used parts" I figured they would have as a recycler with a lot full of vehicles). THE BILL WAS $540 and all the "necessary parts" were brand new, AND...My bright lights don't even work anymore!!! They should not have done the work without consulting me first, and I definitely won't take the steering column back to them for repair, even though it's their fault. Shoddy work, unscrupulous practices, and cold customer service. Don't get ripped off like I did! read more

I came in for a small dash mounted retainer clip that holds in the ashtray. The staff was very polite and was able to find the part and put it in my hands in less than five minutes. When I went to check out the man behind the counter said "One dollar, please". I pulled out my debit card and asked if they accepted them. He told me that they do but that it wasn't worth it for a one dollar part. He told me. "It's not really worth the processing fees and paperwork for a one dollar debit. Don't worry about it, have a great day." I will definitely be back. They have everything for Jeeps. read more

I've been going to J&W since I bought my 78 CJ7 back in the early 90's. They have always had the parts I needed and with great customer service. My husband and I recently shipped a 97 Jeep Cherokee to Hawaii and could not find anyone to ship a needed part here. So we contacted J&W because they have always come through in California. These people are insane. I'm not sure exactly how they are still in business. The only thing they have going for them is the fact that they literally have all of the broken down jeeps within 500 miles of Placer/Sacramento counties. I mean customer service is rechid at best, and the prices are CRAZY!!! They wanted $150 for an AC compressor for my jeep liberty. Brand new all over the place is $189. They also wanted $45 each for the suction and discharge lines. Brand new all over the place is $50. 90% of their asking prices are darn near brand new, and some of them are more than new part prices. Never again will I waste my time even calling for a quote!!! read more

I found J and W on a jeep forum when I was looking for a new frame for my badly rusted northeast frame on my 97 jeep wrangler tj. I called and asked for an absolutely rust free and accident free frame and they said they had one for me. Having scoured all the wrecking yards here I could not find one that would do as these frames rust from the inside out due to no bottom drain holes in frame . I asked for lots of pictures multiple times and they said no problem as I was nervous buying a frame from across the entire usa without seeing it. Feeling comfortable with them I ordered my frame. They disassembled the jeep and put frame on a custom pallet and it was on its way to me in about 3 days. When it arrived in about a week I was extremely happy to see that this frame was better looking than the pics. Not a spot of rust inside or out or any damage . I'm very happy and plan on telling everyone in my jeep community about you. Thanks again. I will post some pics read more

Purchased door glass for my son's wrangler as he needed one that weekend. The whole experience was disjointed and weird , but the yard guy found one . It was covered in mud and grime for $165, but again , I needed it. Counter man said I was " lucky" to even get it as they usually put them in doors and sell them complete for $650. Got it home, tried to clean it up, and it was wrecked. Deep scratches on the outside, and deep brown gouges on the inside. Never seen a window so destroyed. My poor wife ran it back the next day as I had to work, same counter said nope no cash back even though our receipt clearly said it could be returned with in 3 days. Said she would have to wait for Mark to get back, not sure when. She was on lunch had to go, he was neither nice nor helpful. Anyhow , got new glass on Ebay , 60$ free delivery brand new. Do not go here. I am surprised they would act this was as jeep people know lots of other jeep people. I tell everyone I know they suck. Many agree because they have already been there. The negative comments below are completely opposite of what I experienced. First... can't stand salvage yards because there's usually an overly cocky bubba with a condescending attitude at the other side of the counter/phone. Not here... SURPRISE! Called trying to track down an impossible to find stock air intake system for my jeep. Guy on the other end of the line was not only nice but really helpful... he put me on hold for only a minute or so then told me he had one... (1). In the past I've always been told by other yards they can't hold items for customers but again, not these guys... before I could hang up the phone he asks me for my name and says he'll hold it for me. I get there and am greeted with an enthusiastic smile (not common) and he shows me where the part is. Then proceeds to get on the computer, without me asking, to check that it's not missing anything. Price was absolutely fair. As I paid, a gentleman came in laughing and joking around... greeted me with respect and very friendly. We talked and laughed a little and as I walked out i found out he was the owner. Great guy. A+ for customer service... this will be the first place I call from now on when looking for parts. They'll get my business before any other yard. read more

Absolutely a live saver. I needed to replace the knuckle on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler. Well, this was the only place in the "Bay" area - which isn't even the Bay area - to have the part. Not only did they have the part, but it was $75 compared to $376.50 from the stealership who didn't even have it in stock. Sometimes you come across places that make you believe that there are still good people around. The counter person also gave me a bit of advice - to rent the equipment that I might need from Aamco or Kragen in the future if I want to do the work myself. Who knew that you could rent tools? And on top of that, he told me to call if I'm ever in a bind while working on a car, and maybe someone can walk me through what I might need to do. Now that's customer service! They even would have sent the part via FedEx for $12, but I needed the part sooner than later. It was a drive from San Francisco, but well worth it. read more

it's about fairness i was there today and the junk yard dog is gone from behind the counter i bought a new part and had them install for a hundred dollars i agreeded i'm not a mechanic 48 hours it failed i brought it back thinking i had a warranty ha ha well he told me they would charge me another labor charge. now ron is back you will be happy he will help it's about what they needed Ron is a fair guy and I dealt with him before he's back and I can only say it should be much better does the owner know?? read more

Been having little problems with my 2003 Grand Cherokee since I bought it used 4 months ago and they walked me though minor do-it-yourself repairs and I even once had to have it serviced here and they had awesome prices for their service. I was about to leave for school in Utah and started having problems with it overheating and they took some extra time on some precious Saturday hours to help me get it running before I left the next day. They were cool at first when selling. I bought a dashboard set for my friend YJ 1989 Jeep for $756 which i didn't expect that much (later figure out ebay much cheaper included shipping fees). Don't bother what they say that they make discount for you since you buying a lot, still way expensive compare to those junk. Brought it home and figured out the shipping fee to my friend's country is too expensive so i call them want to return, i tell them will pay the restocking fee if may have since in the receipt they said in no cash/credit after 3 days return and I called them right the day after i purchased. They don't keep their words. First store in USA do this freaking reversed written policy. The counter guy Ron said will talk to Mark and will get back to me but i believe he won't do that. I so regret that didn't read the comment of Joel M. below before i go there. Don't go here people. Find on craigslist or ebay you even save more. Trust me. These guys are the worst!!! 1st, Transmission I got leaked big time when they said it was good to go. I understand used parts can have issues but it was hard to keep fluid in it. 2nd, Bought a NEW IN BOX clutch for my jeep. Pressure plate springs were off and now chatters when I let peddle out. They looked at it, and said it was in tolerance and did nothing to help me. 3rd, Called and they said they had 3 new gas tanks in stock for my jeep. Told them I was driving 1.5 hrs to get it. They didn't check and when I got there they didn't even have one. It was 104deg. So I drove home without it another 1.5hrs. The guys behind the counter didn't give a hoot. read more

The good: These guys do have 10 acres of Jeep parts. The bad: Disorganized, indifferent customer service. I telephoned first looking for a parking brake pedal assy for my Jeep. I was quoted $35 over the phone. When I got there I waited about an hour for a worker to pull the part, and I had to keep pestering them or else I would have been forgotten. The first counterperson quoted me $55 for the part. Later another counterperson wanted $45 when the part was finally removed. To their credit they did honor the phone price of $35, but it would appear that they just pull prices out of thin air. I was ready to buy some other parts, but since the staff was not too friendly or helpful, I decided not to and I left. Some advice: If you guys don't want paying customers coming in to buy your merchandise just post a big sign at the door "CLOSED: TRESPASSERS WILL BE PROSECUTED", or get a real mean junkyard dog. That should keep all of us irritating customers away so you will have more time to chit chat and do more important stuff. read more

All I have to say is beware if you are getting any service done with these guys. I used these guys between 2010-2011 work on my Jeep Wrangle. BIG MISTAKE! first I had them fix my AC it seem to work OK at first. So I let them do my major Tune up 65,000 mile one. OK it seemed like they knew what their doing... they suggest that the Exhaust Manifold need a new gasket so this was done at the same time. After a year everything they touched started to break! first I started leaking coolant, only to find out they put an aftermarket part in to test the pressure for leaks. My leak was that cheap $10 part which cost me over $300 to fix. Than my car broke down and had to be towed. When another shop check out the problem we discovered that the distributor cap was broken and the wires were old and tattered. Clearly someone put in used parts and charged me for new ones. The final straw hit when I started getting exhaust fumes inside the car, only to find out the Exhaust Manifold (the one they suggested I fix) was broken. My new Mechanic said whoever did the last repair didn't know what they were doing, they also broke a Stud and tried to cover it up. The repair cost me $700 because a Stud had to be removed. If you need service do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more
