Christine is manager I was in J Crew store in SC earlier for some gift boxes that I ordered online, and it's such an unpleasant experience. Christine as the store manager explained to me that J Crew would give the customers boxes but not the bags regardless how many items the clients bought, J Crew policy. I'm not sure when a great brand like J Crew has such ridiculously cheap policy. I guess it would make more sense to J Crew to give out the bag to the client who bought even 1 item, then they would give out another bag when the client came back buying another item, like 5 minutes later. Why J Crew has to create such inconvenience to their clients?, especially for those who bought online like myself? In addition, the customer service would be totally different for purchase online and in store, not as attentive, unfriendly, or helpful. Again, why? Should J Crew treat or provide the same attitude and customer support to their customers despite they bought the products online or in store? I would think twice next time I wanted to buy something from J Crew, better yet, just buy from another brand. read more

Doug was the best help I could ask for. Any size that I couldn't find or was out of stock, he suggested something very similar that I loved. This is the best customer service I've had at the mall. He was also very attentive and tried helping as much as he could with providing suggestions on clothing. This guy is the definition of a a great positive attitude! read more

When I was in high school, retail sales were popular via paper catalog, namely J.Crew. Known more as a specialty clothing brand that originated from the East Coast, a Barn Jacket or Pea Coat was the IN thing to own in the wintertime. Well, at least in my hood. Each year the company publishes 24 editions of the J.Crew catalog, distributing more than 80 million copies. They also re-introduced the American denim label Madewell, founded in 1937. Stores are located all across the US and Canada, as well as locations in the UK, Japan, and Hong Kong. I can just smell the money rolling in from their online sales. (https://www.jcrew.com) Several years back, they withdrew the Men's line from the J.Crew store at South Coast Plaza. Much to my surprise, they brought it back a couple years ago thru a separate Men's only store. I believe the Grove in LA has a two story co-ed version as well. The merchandise is still expensive IMO, but don't forget where you're shopping. It's Costa Mesa of Orange County - home of South Coast Plaza. The largest mall on the West Coast, where money talks and bullshit walks. Even though styles have come and go, J.Crew is still able to make things classy, yet hip. Generally, the clothes can be a bit reserved but casual. Shopping at Banana Republic often, these guys could be distant cousins. With J.Crew having more of an acquired and expensive taste. Rating - 3.5 stars The customer service seems alright. I have to admit that the salesmen are neatly dressed, almost like walking mannequins, some with beards. Please open a new store or move to a more accessible mall for people who don't make millions of dollars. Even Newport fashion Island would be a better choice. Just my opinion. read more

When I came in here, I must confess that the service (when I got any) was decent, but it was really hard to find anyone to work with me. There Was this one woman who didn't seem particularly interested in helping me figure out whether they had their Stantons in British Khaki (although it did look like she was busy with something, but still!). Another male associate was very helpful and looked pleased to scan the store and find them for me. The store itself is clean and well laid out. J.Crew generally has a very pleasing and simple setup to their stores and this one is no different, although it can get busy and crowded on peak days during the Holiday season. read more

First off, I wanted to say that I love J. Crew. I never thought all my hard work would pay off and I would be able to wear/afford these amazing brands such as Wallace and Barnes. However, every time I walk into this store I never so much as get greeted with a hello; my wife says not to take it personal, but it affects me sometimes. I know being of a mixed minority may not be their target demographic, but I am consistently in the store & if I ever ask for help, it is always met with a rude or too Busy type of attitude. I love the selection in the store, but maybe the staff working there needs to realize that more than just conspicuous high brand customers that stroll in need the same attention as myself and others like myself. I often see people just walk out , confused , with an obvious look on their face of felling like they were not welcome. I feel If they work on that, more people will come into a physical store and maybe it can improve their business, which is now less profitable than my wife's favorite brand madewell. Corporate contacted me in response to my initial review. They asked me for more information and my contact. I gave them the date and time I visited so they could review the schedule for who was working at the time. They asked me for my number so that they could speak with me and apologize and see what else could be done. Received another email asking if the phone number I gave was correct because they tried calling and couldn't get through. I checked the email thread. It was correct and I replied telling the woman it was the right number and I typed it out again then thanked her for her attention. Nobody has reached out to me after that email. I can't say I'm surprised. Poor delivery. Poor follow up. Poor follow through. More reasons I will never shop at any J Crew. Too bad too. This store used to be good. read more

Awful customer service! My husband and I went looking for suits here. No one approached us to see if we wanted any help. Was it the way we were dressed? Hmm I hope not. Were we comfortable at all shopping here? No way! When I asked someone to help us. The guy responded, "Yes, let me finish this first."...umm okay. He made us wait for at least 5 minutes while he was folding clothes. I'm not saying to drop everything to help us out. But come on! I honestly just wanted to leave but my husband really wanted to try on their jacket to see how it fits. The material was nice but not really worth spending especially if that's how their customer service is representing themselves. Anyways, will spend our money elsewhere. Someone came here to buy pants for a wedding? J. Crew has done well for themselves over the last several years, catering to the whole preppy Americana and Trad revival. I like clothes, but don't shop at J. Crew because I know it is a bottom tier mall brand that has their clothes made in China, even though they scream American. Then again, maybe that's the American way. If you want to dress somewhat decent but have no original thought in your head in developing your own individual style, then go here and buy bland but passable clothes that make you a little more respectable the common eye. The slim-fit chinos have a nice shape to them but seriously, pass on the shirts and go to Brooks Brothers or Uniqlo (for oxfords, anyway). If your entire wardrobe is made up of mostly J. Crew, I can only say sorry. Store is clean and the dudes here are handsome if you're a straight woman or gay man. I'm a straight man so they do nothing for me except look like cheesy #menswear circa 2012 nubs with side parts and undercuts that are so played out, they're stale. read more

Before this men's shop opened up the J crew at South Coast was only for women. So thank God that they opened up this Men's store. They pretty much carry everything in this store that they have online, excluding the online sale selection. They even carry the items that were made collaboratively with other brands. All the workers know well how the clothes should fit and how it'll either stretch out or stay the same. I had a conversation with the manager and another associate regarding raw denim, so that was cool. Just some quick tips for shopping here: -J. crew ain't cheap, so when you see something on sale online, you can see if this store has it, and they'll match the online price, in-store. -I didn't take advantage of them, but once I came in a day after a sale ended, and they still gave me the discount. Very good customer service. It never hurts to ask. -If you're a skinny dude wanting to wear their denim, especially the 484 fit, size down one size. It might be a pain to put them on first, but as I was taught by one of the associates, it'll stretch out. One note for J. Crew, you guys should really think about making tapered denim/pants. But I love the layout of all the clothes and items throughout the store. read more

Just walked into the Men's Store to see what this season's sweaters were looking like. Saw a few that I'd consider buying, along with a few chinos. However this was all dashed when I was given the quick once over by the two employees chatting at the register. I'm thinking the previous reviews of standoffish, benign and completely indifferent employees, is spot on. Unfortunately I am not a bearded, 150 lbs, skin tight suit wearing, pseudo lumbersexual, who didn't bathe today, Warby Parker wearing hipster. Therefore I was no more than a common nuisance, to be taken out with the days trash. Seriously?! I hate to note the obvious but these days EVERYONE that walks in is your most important customer. You can't tell who has the money or wants to buy your wares. Relax your back and nix on the attitudes because you're not the only act in town. read more

Update: Jan. 26th, 2015 J.Crew business owner made a public reply about bringing it to their attention. I'm not the only one who stated this fact. Several Yelpers within the last month and years have stated this. I've even mentioned it to our favorite Jcrew store employee from there about the abysmal service and he agrees. So, it's not like this wasn't brought up before; to scapegoat it as if it's the first time to be brought up is just as bad. Did they forget about the JCrew incident when the Men's dept. Alejandro Rhett, VP of Mens Wear got fired for not caring about the employees that JCrew had to release due to poor sales? JCrew sales end of Oct. 31 2015 fiscal year: "the company delivered some more bad news: Comparable sales at its flagship brand were down 12 percent in the fiscal third quarter -- much steeper than last year's drop of 3 percent -- with total sales amounting to $526 million. Total sales across all of its brands, including Madewell, were down 6 percent to $619.4 million; the company's net loss amounted to $759.7 million, a 20 percent greater loss than it reported in the same period last year." You'd think they try to get as many sales in because of this, but no. Hey Jenna Lyons, I wonder why. ____________________________________________________ You won't get service or a hello if you're not dressed to the T. We come often and more or less, we either dress up for work or down for the weekends. If we're dressed up, we get a "hello, can we help you? How may I assist you". Basically let me bend over and kiss your ass so you'll buy something. Dressed down: "why are you in here?" stare, or no help at all. Anyways three people worked today, Jan 25 @ 5:30 pm: some guy who wore his suit way too tight and looked way to hard to be hipster, some dirty blonde brunette and another dude who thinks oranges go stale. We were the only customers and we were invisible. I introduced my friends to Jcrew as an alternative to Express but now that they know better, style wise, JCrew is good if you're into GQ and follow mainstream. So I came in hoping to pick up a pair of the limited New Balance 997's in the special packaging. I called the previous night to confirm the release and release details and was told it was going to be first come first serve. Well guess what? I was the first person in the store when they opened and my size was reserved for someone who called in ahead a time. Manager told me they reserve pairs for "clients of our professional stylists". Just wanted to reinforce what others are saying about the Men's Shop. First off, I love the concept of a having a standalone store that caters exclusively to men, who are often overlooked in the fashion world. Inside you'll find many J. Crew staples: Oxford button downs, sweaters, pants, polos, etc. What really makes it standout, however, is its emphasis on carrying more unique, specialty offerings such as raw selvedge denim, collaboration footwear (Nike, New Balance), Barbour waxed coats, watches, and their popular Ludlow suit line. Often times you'll find only some of these items scattered throughout a couple J.Crews but here they're all under one roof. On top of that, the service is great with very knowledgeable and fashionable staff that don't pressure you or act intimidating toward you. They can help you pick out a single item or redo your entire wardrobe. I purchased a 'vintage fleece' crew neck sweater, a linen shirt, and some white selvedge jeans on my last visit and am completely satisfied. 4/5: A bit understaffed, otherwise a 5/5. read more

At last! Men, we finally get our own store! J. Crew has been in and out of South Coast Plaza for awhile. It was tucked away in the corner, then moved to Mission Viejo, then moved back. Even with the Men's section, the selection was always limited. I've always felt that a Mens Shop would do well... and AT LAST. It's here. I love that they even have the Ludlow Shop (suits) too. Min and Alex were helpful. The staff seemed excited because they just opened 2 months ago. If there is a negative, it would be that the prices seemed to have climbed higher. After reading some reviews, I gotta say I don't believe some peoples negative reviews. Some people saying they didn't get a hello because they weren't dressed up. I went to this store after surfing, smelling like the ocean (which isn't pleasant), in a t shirt and jeans and had the best suit buying experience I've ever had. My tailor tailored Ludlow suit was damaged in an unfortunate accident. And I dreaded having to go suit shopping. Everyone who works at this location is absolutely great. But Kyle goes above and beyond. I would go as far as to say that I wouldn't buy a suit from anyone else but him. First of all he's got a great attitude, style recommendations, attention to detail, and super personable. Buying a suit from him was more like hangin out with a friend talking suits, rather than dealing with a salesperson. He hooked me up with a great Grey Oxford cotton Ludlow suit for a wedding I had THE NEXT DAY. I had the perfect summer suit. I really hope someone from the store reads this. I came in to the Men's Store purchase a pair of Rainbow flip-flops, and though they were hard to find, I was eventually guided to them by an employee. After discovering that they didn't have my size in the front, another employee was kind enough to check the back, finding my size after a few moments. All in all, the store had a plethora of clothing options, and a super-friendly staff (thanks Chelsea and Trevor!). I would definitely shop here again. read more

I stand corrected! New staff at this location are excellent, both in knowledge and service. One of the gentlemen had a nearly encyclopedic grasp of the color wheel as he knew what colors went with the items I was planning to purchase. I tend to ask a superfluous amount of questions before a purchase and they were both on top of their game. Great clothing. Bad service. Though they might look nice and pretty on the outside in their spiffy little suits, the employees seriously have the worst attitudes. They didn't even have the decency to lower their voices and straighten their faces when complaining about customers. Literally the only reason I'm not giving them one star is because the clothing is good quality. Overall, it was really a mediocre experience. They didn't offer any help with sizes when new ones were needed and grumbled whenever questions were asked. J Crew is a great clothing store, but they should probably manage certain employees a little better. read more

We came here last night on the hunt for some pants for a wedding I'm in this weekend. I'm pretty short and hard to fit. A lot of stores don't understand how to accomodate that. We came to this store because they carry XXS-XL and I thought I would give it a shot. Derek helped us when we came in the store and not only did the store have the perfect pants in the perfect size but Derek helped me to feel confident about my choices and taught me so much about the fabric and the color options I had to choose from. This store is a little more expensive, but it is absolutely worth every penny. I have never left a store feeling more confident about my purchase. I credit that to Derek and the help I recieved from him. read more

The store is a little biased on the way you look and dress, and they use that to decide if they want to help and 'serve' you or not. Otherwise if you're not up to their taste they'll just ignore you while you're in the store. Otherwise this is a good store. read more

Love J Crew clothes. They fit well and are durable. Men's shop is a great idea. The salespeople, though, are hawks for that commission. I prefer to avoid these fashionistos in their six piece suits, overshop online and return what I don't want. read more
