This one particular sales girl named Elaine was very helpful and hands-on toward all her customers. It turns out she is the personal shopper for the store. She immediately can tell what fits you and doesnt fit right on you. She expedited my experience by calling the customer service hotline instead of having me do it myself. I went into this store recently to purchase a complete professional outfit for a upcoming interview. Once inside I wanted someone to guide me though the appropriate (but also the best) jackets, shirts, and pants. I only saw one gentlemen at the front desk checking out a customer. So I did a couple laps around. From there to the fitting rooms to the front again. Never saw anyone so I started looking at clothes. Found a pair of pants to try on but I felt I was definitely in need in some (any!!!) guidance so I looked around once more and found a young gal. I asked her if she could help me find a professional outfit: jacket, shirt, pants and it could be any color scheme. She looked at me as if I asked her the hardest question ever and I thought jeez I thought it would be easy... something like "oh yes these are our best selling pants! & over here is our go to blazer jacket" you guys know what I mean, this isn't rocket science I just wanted some suggestions. But of course she wasn't familiar with the clothes yet so she must have been new which is fine but you gotta fake it until you make it. So I left & went over to banana republic and dropped $290 on the most beautiful and ultimate professional outfit I've ever seen. J crew make sure to have your associates around and to know their shit or else you'll loose your $$$. read more

Purchased a form fitting men's T shirt . Fit just right but after wearing it a bit and a few washing it turned into a limp rag. The only T shirts I buy now are Gold Toe. They have material integrity and heavy fabric weight and stay from fitting after years. read more

The selection is pretty great and you'll definitively find items instore that you will not at other locations. I really like J.Crew. The quality of the clothing is one of the best compared to other retailers with similar prices. They also have great special collaborations with some great brands that make J.Crew unique from most mall stores. I mostly order online, but I do go to this store about every 2 months when I am in San Jose visiting my family. I have been to a handful of different J.Crew locations, but I can't give this one more than 2 stars. The staff is friendly and helpful, I have never had a problem or any complaints regarding them. I have always been helped, not ignored, and I have never encountered a pushy sales person. But here's the problem. There is nothing in my size in stock at this store. Ever. Every single time I come here, I end up walking out with about one item in hand, and the rest of them ordered by the cashier on the phone so they can ship it to my house. Almost any full-price item, from shirts to pants to sweaters is sold out of my size. I don't even bother going through the sale section because they don't have anything in my size either. The only reason why I actually shop at this store is because ordering here instead of online guarantees me free shipping and a 15% student discount. Having to order the items I want by phone is very tedious and takes a lot more time than if I could just buy the items off the shelves or order online. Obviously, my sizes sell out pretty fast. That's okay, but why doesn't J.Crew stock more of my size (the smaller sizes) in store? They do carry the sizes, they just don't have any left. It is pretty apartment that these smaller sizes are popular and sell out quickly, so J.Crew needs to make sure that they order much more of these sizes. read more

their winter line is GORGEOUS... for ladies - of course... but i do think that a straight man that can make their mens blazers fit them like a glove and strut down the street with confidence is super sexy. gay men set aside, because MOST gay men can make anything work. straight men are hopeless, unless they have a gay friend or a girlfriend. SAME DIFFERENCE. anyways, i LOVE, LOVE - LOVE - their winter coats and dresses. their exclusive line is unaffordable realistically... and if youre a reasonable person on a budget, i DO SUGGEST you purchase yourself ONE structured coat here for you - because it will make you feel so yummy. they have tailoring on site as well - so if you dont fit something exactly with length - the staff is trained to pin you up, and take the garment to the stores very own alteration shop for you - i believe it is either free of charge or a small fee of like two bucks or so - i forget. theyll do it all for you and have it back in the store for you to pick up when ready. anything you purchase there that comes apart at the seams is an error they will take into their own matters and tailor back to good for free - or i think its returnable as well. their shoes are lovely as well... all their shoes are made in the same factory as PRADA. same materials. yup. good ol' italian craftsmanship. these looks are advertised as "preppy" - and the yuppie looking types that party in the hamptons... but ive seen some young people buy some of their more colorful styles and mix it up super savvy... and modern to create their own signature style. IF YOU THINK YOU CANNOT AFFORD SOME OF THE THINGS YOU SEE IN THE STORE, do what i did. become a part of their roll-out team member... [or you can be a seasonal worker]... they give you an allotment card that allows you up to SIX ITEMS @ 50% off every month... then everything that follows that is your regular discount. but honestly, you really gotta be a JCREW addict to use up that allotment card... heh. not saying i never did use mine up anyways... ALSO, you arent really supposed to know this, but they give a "college" discount to ivy league schools... but honestly, what percentage of us people really do attend ivy league schools? this location is run by great people that are politically correct, and regardless of what school you claim, they will do their best to "honor" the college discount. try asking when you come into the store - but make sure youre schmoozing it up with a store manager first while asking about your particular garment at the cashwrap or in the store. happy shopping! read more

Depending on which SA you get from this location, you either get amazing service or terrible service. Went to return an item on 6/7/17 at around 3pm and the SA basically gave me the wrong information regarding online returns and looked very confident giving me the wrong information. She acted very condescending saying she would do it for me this one time. Please train your staff because it was a very unpleasant experience. read more

Excellent customer service! I got talked into spending $140 for jeans and a polo that I really didn't need and I was thrilled about the experience! I was helped as well by George, who apparently has a cult following on yelp...This guy is amazing. George goes out of his way to be friendly, is extremely knowledgeable, and is a great salesman. I have never been offered water while trying clothes on, I was surprised. J Crew is expensive, and I know they cater to their clients but their service here is like nothing I have experienced before, Bravo! The selection size is a little small. They have most items, but maybe not in every colour. I wanted to write about my review visiting the store. The staff here is seriously very competent. I am very impressed with how dedicated they are to the store, the customers, and the clothes that they sell. Maxwell helped me place an online order, and he was superb. Perhaps among one of the best customer service I have received. He is exceptionally intelligent, and anticipated and foresaw every single thing possible that I could've even imagined. He delivered what was quintessentially the best service in almost any industry I have seen. It was not only just pleasantly nice, but it was sincere delivered with along with a dose of smoldering passion. He was able to ask every nuanced details that I threw at him, and anticipate any request I may have had. Truly a diagnostic mind. I am still in awe in how good this store is compared to other Jcrew I have been to. This locational is phenomenal and exactly what I expected from the Jcrew brand and the image it attempts to deliver. read more

not so bad if yo u want to check the quality of their catalog/web items... the sales aren't always that great if you compare it to the web sales but sometimes u can get lucky (if you like that stripey, preppy, gausey look... which is cool some of the time). little selection, waaaay expensive, jacked-up prices but good basics (if heavily marked down). the sales people are generally friendly and never hesitate to attempt signing you up for stalker-like JCrew emails but are most often harmless. i used to love this place but i think that the cheapo-chinese in me refuses to give in to the $60 rubber slippers. read more

The men's selections are limited but I had great customer service. Like many Yelpers, I was helped by George and he was awesome. Was looking for a new suit and wandered in here but wasn't sure exactly what i wanted. Then came along George. George asked me some very good questions, educated me on the differences on suits, and helped put together a great look. After I purchased the suit, he gave me great advice on suit care and how to spot a good tailor. Will definitely come here again. read more

Recently I have been shopping a little more here at J. Crew... It has been easy, a pleasure even. Upon walking in, the staff made eye contact, and quickly let me know that should I have questions, they were there to help. Then, they let me be... didn't hover or try to hard to push into my wanderings around the store. That is a plus... I really don't like people that hover and try too hard to sell. When I did pause (guess I had the look of someone with a question) a gentleman came over to help and was actually knowledgeable about their stock, the cut, how they wear/wash... he got me a water as I tried on clothes and also went off to find other sizes and colors. Very helpful and nice. It made the shopping experience charming... something that has been lost lately. It may seem like such a small detail to focus on, but having someone actually help and offer a refreshment... it's been lost in retail. Anyway, this store has a decent selection of clothes, a good sale area, and friendly staff.... and, since it is on the backside of the mall you don't have to deal with the entire mall to do a little shopping. read more

I will NEVER be going back to this J crew Location ever again. I have had nothing but awful experiences, its such a bummer because I love JCrew. I am a personal shopper,My most recent experience was a NIGHTMARE, when I took a client in, and we were asked about 8 times by 3 different people if they could start us a dressing room. We did not want a dressing room yet. An older lady working there would not let up, she asked the same question 5 times. finally she said "you have to let me start you a fitting room" So just to make her leave us alone, we gave her all our clothes. Every minute or so, she would ask me questions about what my client was trying on, if she could see, if we wanted a necklace to try on.... It was SO overwhelming for my client and I... it was like she was desperate for commission. Then, at the register the clerk asked who helped us, and She very eagerly said" I did" Then the clerk punched in a number.. My client said "They obviously work off of commission" Another time I went in with a friend, And I saw a Rose Necklace I liked, but wanted to think about.. The manager with the red curly hair eagerly told me "its the last one" I nicely asked her to hold it, Gave her my name, and told her i would be back tomorrow. Just like I promised, I went back in the next day to purchase it, but The NECKLACE WAS ALREADY BACK ON THE MANNEQUIN. The manager did NOT hold it for me.... I don't understand the staff that work at this store, they REALLY need to be trained in CUSTOMER SERVICE.... Another Time During Christmas I wanted to do an exchange for a gift I got but did not like... It still had the tag on it, and the j crew box never worn. I just wanted to exchange it for something I liked. the sales Clerk said, "Without a receipt there is NOTHING we can do, Unless you call the person who gave it to you and ask for their credit card number so we can look up the receipt.." WHAT????????????? So, you want me to call the person who gave me the gift, tell them I don't like the gift, and then Ask for their Credit Card Number? Yeah RIGHT! I will never, ever, ever be giving my business or taking my clients back to this location. Absolutely an embarrassment to the J Crew brand. read more

I used to shop at J Crew all the time. A couple of years ago I had to return an item and was given a store credit which I was assured could be used as cash at any time. I have carried that envelope with the credit in it for a couple of years and have periodically stopped in at J Crew at Valley Fair to confirm that the credit was indeed as good as cash, and was still viable. Imagine my surprise when I went into J Crew yesterday and finally selected a few items that were on sale and tried to use the store credit without success. Why? I haven't a clue. The salesperson asked another person (presumably a superior of some sort) to fix the situation, and she said that the store credit was not able to be used for merchandise even though I had checked many times to be sure that it could be. She was very upset that it did not have a number of some sort on it. I was sorry too, but it was not my problem. There was no solution offered for my problem, so I assume that J Crew no longer wants my business. The credit is for 99.00 and I am not pleased with the way that this was handled. Maybe Walmart treats its customers this way, but I would not expect it of J Crew. read more

J.Crew lovers beware of the valley fair location. Although I appreciate the other comments fellow yelpers have posted about their past positive experiences here I wish I had a similar story to tell. As an avid J.Crew shopper, as well as local teacher, J.Crew makes up about %75of my wardrobe -- as a brand they do a great job at offering special promotions to both educators and students, and their clothes really make dressing for work (and a classy evening out) fun. I've shopped at J. Crew for years, but have never been treated with as much disdain shopping at any other J.Crew store as I have been at the valley fair location. Typically when I visit the Palo Alto or Los Gatos locations, I am treated like royalty -- many of the staff and managers know me personally and I am always welcomes back. Here, not so much the case. About six months ago I had to place a call to the corporate office to file a complaint when a pregnant woman and i were left alone in the fitting room without anyone to assist us -- I went out onto the floor to ask a sales associate for help, but she informed me that she was 'on her break' ... on the store's floor? I don't think so. Both the assistant manager and one of the head managers (both male, not Stacy, this locations head manager) have negative and defensive attitudes as well. On my most recent trip into this location, i tried to exchange a holiday gift, and when I asked the sales associate if they had other sizes available in the product I was searching for, she shrugged her shoulders and responded, "well, I don't know."To top it off, the store here always seems very attractive from the mall's window display, but they never seem to have their shelves in the back fully stocked with merchandise -- year round! Who wants to shop in a half empty store? I'm done with you, valley fair J.crew. The drive to Palo Alto may be a bit farther than I wish I had to go, but its worth it for the much more excellent service as well as a floor that's always packed with the newest looks. read more

I am a loyal J Crew customer and have been for over 17 years. But from now on, I am not shopping at the J Crew at Valley Fair. Sometimes, people lose track of time and it doesn't fit perfectly in the "30 days policy." This time was the case, I didn't realized that I already owned 2 of the same white basic tees. So, I found the receipt and wanted to return one. I was honest about the date on the receipt. Hoping that I would not be given a hard time but no such case. I understand there is a policy but I also understand the #1 customer service rule, if you could make the customer happy and have them coming back, you should do it. So, long story short, instead of returning my t-shirt for the regular price of $24.50, I got a policy lecture from the sales associate! Love J Crew but not ever shopping at the Valley Fair location again nor am I recommending this location to anyone else! read more

Very rude woman in charge today when I went to this store. She made me feel bad when I said that a certain cut of pant didn't fit my body right. She looked at me and basically said, "that's the style." I felt embarrassed and annoyed. I'll buy their stuff online, but won't go back to this particular store. Not worth the snobbiness. read more

I go to this store all the time for my J.Crew fix. The staff is always friendly! George is fantastic! He not only helps with size switch outs and is very friendly but he also gives great suggestions on how to wear pieces so you can imagine an outfit. The suggestions are always right on point. They have a great sale section as well with various pieces from headbands to dresses and very reasonably priced for when the budget is a little tight. It's also a very clean store and well organized so it is easy to find items. Love this store! Check it out! read more
