Listen, as I mentioned in my original review, I have always been happy with my purchases here. The service remains outstanding. The quality of fabric is always top notch. The professionalism is impressive, and most of the staff are young, mature, style conscientious people. I came back in to get some alterations done to all of the suits I've purchased here to make sure I stay current with styles. As is policy, there was no charge for alterations for the lifetime of the suit when you purchase a custom suit. I'd like to say it's not easy making myself look so great, but I'd be lying. David's Custom Clothiers aren't good, they are exceptional, elevating it beyond practice into an art form. I was up against a deadline, having spent weeks online and crawling through stores looking for a specific outfit for a project. I was out of ideas and running out of time. Thinking perhaps some divine tailoring or even a bespoke solution might be my only answer, I checked out reviews and saw all the great ratings for J. David's. So on a Sunday morning, I wrote a long, rambling, email full of questions with no real answers, links to pictures, and way too many paragraphs. When I got home that night, after another day of fruitless shopping, I had a lovely email from the owner himself, David. He had tried to call me that afternoon, but couldn't leave a message, so he took the time to write (!). He made several suggestions, kindly talked me down from the most expensive approach (even though that would have been to his financial benefit), and invited me to bring what I had by his store. When I arrived at the beautiful space the next afternoon, the staff were already up to speed on my "case." David had reached out to his network to try and help me source some of the items. And then I met the wonderful Jeannie, who ended up personally providing the entire solution to my problem. David remained connected, providing alternatives as he discovered them. David and Jeannie didn't just solve a wardrobe issue for me. They took me out of an incredibly stressful, somewhat sensitive situation and allowed me to change gears and shift focus--feeling confident that I had received stellar advice and styling. I am embarrassed that I haven't reviewed this store before. They have been putting on a masterclass in customer service for years. Today I dropped off a pair of pants for some tailoring and a guy who has helped me in the distant past greeted me by name when I walked in. The remarkable thing is it's not just this one guy, but a number of the staff. I'm not a big spender, I probably buy stuff every year and a half. On Sunday April 30th I needed help taking my measurements for a dress my daughter is having made for me for her wedding overseas. Michelle Franchino took my call and said she could help. When I got to the store, she was busy with customers, but I didn't mind waiting. I was just glad to have the help. It turned out she misunderstood what I wanted the measurements for. They would not normally provide that service if I did not intend to buy a suit, but since I had waited quite a while, she decided to go ahead and help me. What a pleasant surprise! My wedding was celebrated in January 2019. Four months beforehand, my groomsmen and I started looking at different places to rent our tuxedos and suits. We looked at online retailers, "big name" retailers, and other specialty clothing stores out there, and after visiting numerous places, trying on their clothes, and getting fitted at these other places, I can say with 100% confidence that J David's stands above the rest. No contest. Their expertise in the area of men's suits/tuxedos/fittings is unparalleled and their kindness in service was top notch. Also, you won't find another place with better pricing and this type of quality in their clothing. Their costs are no-nonsense and there are no "hidden costs" or anything like that - they are transparent and honest. Other places charged way more for less than half of the quality of J David's clothes and service. David, the owner of the place was incredibly helpful and supportive during the entire process, personally showing me different styles/color options. During the scheduled fittings, we had Jeanie, Robert, and Kyle helping myself and the groomsmen. All 3 staff members were professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They made all of us feel very comfortable during the fitting, and it truly was a great experience for me and my groomsmen. I brought my beautiful wedding dress here about 2 short weeks before my wedding. David personally took my measurements and detailed my request. My dress was ready in perfect timing with no rush fees! I almost had a heart attack when I arrived and the dress was too small, David and his seamstress were able to fix the dress and take it back out in just one day. I even had an issue with my dress alterations being close to $900 which was a shock and unexpected. David prides himself on customer service and made adjustments to the payment to fit my needs. The seamstress was able to Aline my dress to fit my body like a glove that made me look fabulous but also could still dance and sit down, she even gave me boobs . My family has been coming to J David's for all of their special even needs and I was still nervous to being my dress just because I didn't trust anyone with my beautiful $2,000 wedding gown. I'm so happy I chose J David's they made me look wonderful which resulted in my special day being magical. WEDDING DRESS ALTERATION ESTIMATE I came in here with an appointment about five-six weeks before my wedding, not even realizing it's a men's clothing store until I got there. When the seamstress showed up, she didn't speak English very well having one of the sales men help her translate and made me feel very uncomfortable. She put wax marks on my dress and put pins in it telling me, over an hour later, my estimate for JUST HEMMING IT and giving it a bustle would be $850!! While the store and the staff were friendly there custom bespoke services and tailor/ alterations were absolutely horrendous. I continously gave them opportunities to earn my business but they would always get custom orders wrong as well as the alterations. The only reason I continously went in there was because their alterations department always got my orders wrong and I had to go back there to get it repaired. Funny enough when their staff finally realized that I wasnt going to lose my money to them, they asked me to be accepting of it , which truly is sad. To top it off the suit that was made for me, which was a custom order, came out wrong. The suit was too long, the sleeves were wrong and the back too tight. Its not their fault, they just need to fire their service providers. read more
