Absolutely ruined what should have been a no-stress Thanksgiving. We made our reservation three weeks in advanced and confirmed on the day. When we arrived the place was slammed, and we were told that it would be at least 30 minutes, but by the density of the crowd it would have been over an hour and probably two. We had the luxury of leaving because it was just the two of us. If we had brought guests we would have been forced into their grueling endurance test. It was like walking out of The Village of the Damned. I felt so sorry for those who were stuck waiting. Went here last night for restaurant week. From the parking lot, the place looked completely packed but I felt more comfortable inside once I saw there wasn't a line or crowd of people at the entrance waiting to be seated. We had reservations so we were seated within 2 minutes. Our server was nice & very attentive to our needs, despite how busy I'm sure they were with restaurant week. We never had to wait on drinks to be refilled or food to be brought out. We ordered from their restaurant week pre fix menu. Twin lobster tails with potatoes & switched out the string beans for Brussels sprouts. Definitely a good move. The Brussels were cooked perfectly but could have used some type of dressing like vinigarette. My lobsters were to die for. Don't be deceived because you don't see any seasoning on them. They were soo sweet & delectable. I had the Berry Martini which was a little too strong for me. I like my drinks on the sweeter side and should have went with the pineapple martini instead. You have to try the MD crab bisque, the best I've ever had. Oooo and the carrot cake is out of this world. The right amount of sweetness and super moist. I was full after dinner & only had one bite of the cake before taking it home. My husband had the MD bisque as well, the Kansas 12 oz steak, & chocolate cake. The steak had to be sent back to be recooked because we asked for MW & they gave us WD. Second time it was cooked right but it lacked flavor. There was no salt or pepper on it. It literally tasted like a piece of meat that went onto a grill. The truffle butter didn't even help. I liked that the outside had a nice crisp to the edges. I'm not one to complain but how can they serve unseasoned steaks? Oh and the lobster Mac n cheese tasted like butter noodles garnished with lobster, again no seasoning. Not every restaurant should make this dish because even though it's popular, it could hurt your credibility if not done right. Really wanted to love this place. Bougee bar area, dark wood, white table clothes. Very Morton's feeling. Bartender was whiny, which I never understand. Your job as a bartender is to listen to complaints or hard day stories, not share yours. With all due respect, no one cares. Ordered the prime steak salad. It was underwhelming to say the least. Huge oval plate- 1/4 wedge of iceberg, few crumbles of cheese, and the smallest little piece of steak I've ever seen. Smaller than a card deck. And looked even smaller on the huge plate. We didn't have reservations and there was a 20-30 minutes wait. We were afraid we were underdressed but the other patrons ranged from men in polo shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops to full on suits. The ladies' dress also ranged from casual to dressy/cocktail. The hostess was friendly. Our server Christian was attentive and made recommendations which was helpful. Food was delicious. The sourdough bread for the table was fresh out of the oven so hot but crispy crust and soft inside. The calamari appetizer came with two sauces for dipping. The sweet n sour sauce was light and delicious. I really enjoyed that it came with fried jalapeño slices. The watermelon margarita was ok. I probably wouldn't order it again, even though I had two. I've been wanting to try this place for years. I Always drive by when I'm in McLean and I went in yesterday for an early dinner. My experience was blah. ..The dining room was pretty empty. The bar area seemed to be a bit more buzzing and energetic. I told server it was our first time time and she encouraged us to get surf and turf. I opted for an upgrade of the steak (8oz instead of 6oz.) The entree took over 25 mins to come out and I was starving. When the food came out, The steak and lobster tail were delicious and The steak was cooked to my liking (medium well.) I had asaparagus and green beans with pecans for my side order. This was very filling and I ate everything. I had mango sorbet for my dessert as I have a dairy allergy. It was decent. It was just a little too sugary for my taste. I suspect on a non holiday and happy hour there are more people there. If you need a quiet place to go on a date , meet, or low key this is the place for you. Management did reach out and was very apologetic and concerned about our negative experience, so I decided to give them one more try. I'm glad I did! My partner and I started with the crab cake appetizer. The crab cakes were delicious. I got a ginger pear whiskey fizz as a drink (I think that was the name...) And it was very tasty. I had the scallops over risotto and the scallops were cooked perfectly. My partner had the wagyu burger and said it was very good, but we both agreed the scallops were better. We shared lobster mac and cheese which we enjoyed. We ended the night with the strawberry cheesecake, which was very tasty even though we were very full by then. Our food was good but the meal wasn't memorable, and I found that the meals were just oddly paired: - The chicken and waffles had a few random pieces of cut of sausage that weren't good - The shrimp and grits had a random dressing-less salad like mix on the plate - the omelet would have been much better with the potatoes instead of two pieces of bread that were bigger than the omelet. My favorite thing? The smashed potatoes with peppers and onions. The ice cream was really good too but the cinnamon ice cream had a weird crumbly texture. Overall our impression is that we don't get out much to brunch so we want to have a great (not good) brunch. Also the drinks were just ok. The food was great, and it was a good medium between empty and crowded, and had a good murmur of voices. Our server, Meghan G. was great. I ordered a mocktail, and it didn't come with my meal. I asked her about it, and it turned out that they were out of an ingredient in it. She offered me a lemonade on the house as an apology, which was fine, I didn't care that much anyway. However, she came back promptly with the lemonade and a version of my original drink without the missing ingredient, both on the house. Throughout this, she was professional and sympathetic. UPDATE: Bill, the manager, reached out to me and invited us back. He even stopped by our table to check in on us. First, our server, Lydia, was fantastic! Very attentive and kind. I took my family and ended up spending about $220 but it was worth it. The fried calamari appetizer was very flavorful and crisp with jalapeños for an extra kick. My parents very much enjoyed the Seafood Mixed Grill and the Blackened Chicken Pasta. The scallops were seared perfectly and the chicken was very flavorful. The jumbo lump crabcake was amazing. - The only thing less than perfect was that the salmon was a bit overcooked and dry...but was "still very good". The house sauvignon blanc my parents ordered perfectly complemented their entrees and they thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed my 6 oz. sirloin with a mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus. It seems they are in the process of redoing the floor. This restaurant stinks. I felt as if I was sitting in some shady kind of place. It was our anniversary and we had made the reservations. When we reached there we were shocked to see the cemented floor, dust everywhere, stinky smell from the unfinished floor! If I were the owner, I would close the restaurant and do the job that needs to be done and then open it up. We walked out of this place & went elsewhere as it didn't feel upto mark for our occasion plus ofcourse the smell, the muddy feel on the shoes and weird feeling .. Kids had 6 oz filets with lobster Mac n cheese and asparagus. Fillets were good, sides were meh. Five asparagus spears and not nearly enough cheese or lobster on this pasta. I had scallops with lobster risotto. Risotto was way too al dente and salty. Scallops were decent sauce , but was way too thick. Hubby's rib-eye was good mushroom risotto also too al dente and lobster Mac n cheese-- see description above. Service was fine. Food was not worth the price or a return visit. Our 7:45 pm Tuesday night reservation had me wondering why so late!? I figured it might be because we were a party of 10 and had requested the private room. But when we got there, the restaurant was a buzz, completely full of diners, and enjoying their meals. On a Tuesday night, no less! Our waiter, Travis, was superb! Not only was he funny and likable, but he provided excellent recommendations, and provided honest answers for all of our questions on the food. Most of us ordered the filet mignon, which everyone enjoyed. Extremely delicious, buttery and easy to cut steaks. One of our party Ordered the salmon and another had the scallops, and both really enjoyed their meals. We had the onion rings, chicken, wings, and the blue cheese potato chips to start, along with very tasty warm bread. We all had an amazing night, and it's obvious that the quality of the food and high-level of service has made this place a must go in McLean. If you've never been, it's definitely worth trying!! My burger had a slice of tomato with the sticker still on it. Regardless of its washing process- the sticker should not have been there. I almost bit into it. 2) Ordered a black coffee, the mug had dried crust on the outside - made me wonder if the inside was washed clean. For the prices they charge, the service they advertise, the rewards they've gotten, these mistakes that deal directly to sanitation should not be there. My advice? I like more bbq sauce so ordered a side of bbq--really good flavor. The cream corn w bacon was a great side dish, very good. I would have given this place five stars except because of the way they handled the last ten minutes of us dining there. The waiter spilled and broke some glasses right near our booth. The glass fragments flew all over the place. My friend was concerned whether or not some fragments got in his shoe. The waiter asked my friend to take off his shoe and fortunately no glass was there. I asked the manager if something could be done because the waiter put us in a dangerous position. He said he could take off the dessert. I appreciate it but I asked him could something else be done because of the danger of the situation. The manager said the dessert was good enough and that my friend wasn't hurt. I felt like the manager shrugged off the situation and didn't acknowledge the danger the waiters accident us in. He also didn't tape off the dangerous environment in the event that more glass pieces were still there. I understand that restaurants have to make money, but the care for the customers who bring in the revenue was ignored. I wish the manager would have handled the situation better. Based on the positive Yelp reviews, my husband made the reservation for Mother's Day hoping to try something new. Our experience was horrible. They sat us in the back room which clearly had way too many people -- I can't believe this wasn't violating the Fire Code. It was incredibly loud and we could not hear our server. It was hard to navigate to the table and it looked like the wait staff was having a difficult time bringing the food to the tables. Case in point, when they brought our entrees the server dropped my plate on the floor almost hitting another member of our party who was unlucky enough to be seated on the aisle. My husband's entree was served and was barely warm. We sent his food back, but after waiting 40 minutes and not getting a replacement meal, we gave up and told the server that we just wanted to leave. His food was eventually brought in a to-go bag. We were never asked what we wanted for dessert -- which was part of the fixed price menu. We were brought dessert in to go bags. The worst part was that once the evening started to go south, we were ignored by the server, by the management staff and had no idea what was going on. My husband had to go find the manger twice to try to rectify the situation. Horrible dining experience and the staff's communication and lack of response was unacceptable. Even though they comp'd part of the bill, it was a special occasion that was ruined. We would NOT recommend this establishment to anyone and needless to say, will not be returning. read more
