Great Heights 'Fruity Pellets' IPA
Adam H.

A decent place for a wide beer selection and bar food. Atmosphere is dark and mostly clean. Service is good -- not great. We arrived here after the typical Friday afternoon lunch hour; there was still some business happening. The manager was our server ... at least initially. Another dude took over until we had an issue with our appetizer (restaurant's fault, and they owned it, though the issue pretty much caused me to lose my appetite.) Food here is cooked fresh to order. Fish & Chips and Chicken Fried Steak were worthy. Fries were also served hot and crisp. Never did get the malt vinegar, but oh well. Would I come back? Sure. But I cannot give this joint high marks after my first visit.

After stopping at and leaving one of our favorite lunch spots, J.Henry's came up first in my Yelp search. Located in a strip center, this place is pretty low key, but does have a growler fill drive through! Can't beat that! We sat at the bar, as usual. After a couple of small samples, hubs and I selected a beer from the many, many brews on tap. Most beers were from Texas breweries, which I really like. I had a salad with grilled chicken which was delicious. The veggies were cold, fresh and crisp. The chicken was warm, tender and juicy. Hubs had a fried fish sandwich which he said was excellent; perfect breading, tender and hot. French fries were thick cut and delicious. Excellent place for a beer, lunch or casual dinner. Our server was great, available as needed.

Beer selection/prices are definitely a 5. Service is a 5 as well. Waiters were friendly and efficient. They weren't annoyed when I needed a couple samples before settling on a beer. Food is a 4. The energy here is always good. Never too loud and usually never much of a a wait. But never empty.

My friend and I needed food after having a few drinks at The Davenport. Luckily, J. Henry's is practically next door. It literally took less than a minute to drive over. When we arrived, it wasn't busy at all. It was open seating so we grabbed a booth, and the bartender came over quickly to take our drink order. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I told the bartender the types of beers that I like and he suggested the Altstadt Kolsch. It was really good and smooth! My friend had the 3 Nations Blue Raspberry Sucker Punch. They have 51 beers on draft and most of them are from Texas breweries. You can also purchase growlers: 64 oz. for $10 or 32 oz. for $7 plus the cost of beer. The food didn't take long at all to be brought out to us. My friend had the coconut shrimp. She subbed the fries with mashed potatoes. I ordered the herb crusted salmon. It was seasoned well, but was a tad salty. The flavors were delicious though. The veggies (carrots, squash, zucchini, asparagus) were prepared al dente and were very flavorful. I really enjoyed my meal!

Buffalo sandwich

Yum yum! Beers and food so good! Legit menu with more than just bar food. Wonderful service by Louis too. Hidden gem. Check it out!

I've just finished the new Gouda Mushroom Burger. It's AMAZING!!! It's definitely my new favorite.

Great breakfast this morning at Main St Bistro after church. This was our second time here…read more Same friendly service in a very comfortable setting. They had a lot of daily specials to choose from. We both ordered from the brunch menu. I ordered The Alamo. A breakfast bowl Cheesy Hash browns, Bacon, Sausage and Ham covered with Gravy and Three Over Easy Eggs. My wife ordered the Le Bistro. Two Scrambled Eggs, Grits Bacon and an English Muffin. Such a great local spot have a meal with friends and family.

I've been wanting to try Main St. Bistro, so when my sister suggested it for Easter, I was down. We had a party of 7 (5 adults, 2 kids). We got there around 1:00 on Easter Sunday & didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. A man took our drink order. My brother-in-law asked to go ahead & order two appetizers. Our waitress, Natalie, came shortly after, introduced herself & confirmed the appetizers. We were brought 4 small cubes of banana bread, which felt weird since there were 7 of us. My toddler & my niece both had a whole one. The other two were split between 4 adults. My brother-in-law didn't have any. The appetizers came out fairly quickly & were gone just as fast. We finally ordered right at 2:00 after a little wait & indecisiveness. Then my son was done sitting in a highchair. My husband and brother-in-law took the kids outside. They played for a bit & walked two laps around the whole strip center. They came back, still no food. My son had a complete meltdown since he was both hungry & now tired, my brother-in-law asked if there was any way they could just rush my son's food. They did and he started eating, everyone was so hungry that they had some bites of his food as well. My mom went to ask the manager if our food was close to being ready. The answer was no, there was a whole list of orders ahead of ours. The manager was kind enough to bring us some spinach dip & apologized for the wait, explaining she was dreading today because the kitchen wasn't equipped for the Easter crowd. She assured us that they were working as fast as possible & we appreciated her honesty & effort. My mom went to her car & asked us to let her know when her food came. Our food finally started arriving at 3:17, and not all at once. My sister's meal came last. By this time my son was done & was getting restless while we had JUST started eating. The food itself was disappointing. My sister and I both ordered Benedicts. Mine (Boudin Benny) wasn't hot and was mushy instead of seared. Both of our poached eggs were undercooked. My sister's also had a large amount of cream cheese that wasn't listed and didn't taste good. Other issues: my mom's fries were cold, my brother-in-law said his chicken fried steak was no good. He ate it because he was hungry, and while my husband liked his sandwich & was happy with it, his fries were cold. My niece enjoyed her burger. My son's shrimp, fries, & macaroni were all hot and good... likely because they were rushed for him. It was 3:45 by the time we left. They close at 3. We received a 40% discount, but there was also a 20% automatic gratuity added, which some in our party didn't expect. Here's where they earn stars back... Natalie was great! She took great care of us & kept apologizing for the delay. We could tell that she felt bad, but it was not her fault. The manager also came by checking on us multiple times & got us settled as best she could. She brought us spinach dip while we waited & she made sure that my toddler got food very quickly after being asked about it. She did thank us multiple times for our kindness & patience. As did Natalie. I too, was appreciative of the kindness they showed us. Most of us have all worked in food service before & we understand that the wait staff can only do so much. We also understand being slammed in the kitchen & how fast paced they have to work in order to handle rushes. I appreciate the 40% discount... 20% after the tip. This review was based on one trip & I will update my review if/when I return. But this visit was definitely not a great experience & if it weren't for the kindness, I'd be leaving one star.

We were also informed that they stop serving food at 9:30, so pretty much to order soon. Needless to say I was so disappointed and ready to leave. But it being so late, sucked it up. Came here for the sword fish that apparently they no longer serve as their menu had changed. After ordering, I did voice my concerns about the loud music and thankfully they changed it. I was able to enjoy my late night dinner with my husband. We ordered the Kataifi shrimp as an appetizer. They were medium sized served with a spicy tangy sauce. They were very delicious. For my main course I ordered the American red snapper which was also a unique dish as it was served on a corn husk with rice and beans. 3 whole crawfish, a corn and cold salsa verde sauce on the side of the dish. All was delicious except they should have served the salsa verde sauce warm instead of cold. It was still a delicious dish. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak which was also delicious. It was served with a side of green beans, puréed potatoes with a foie gras gravy. They have a descent drink menu. I ordered the Friendswood 75 which was a little too sweet for my liking and my husband ordered the Gin and tonic. They didn't have Sapphire so he opted for the Tanqueray. Overall, our meal was delicious and our server Sandy was nice.

They have plenty of unique options for pizza which I really look forward to trying them all. They also have some other unique menu items too. If I lived closer here, I'd definitely be visiting more often. We had the pickle pizza with pepperoni added on it as well as the totally baked Bolognese. Everything comes out hot and fresh, and the pizza is always as good as I remember it. I had the Bolognese for the first time this visit and it was delicious. A little on the heavy side but it's meaty and creamy with the cheese. Their house-made ranch is something else, I'm more of a bleu cheese guy but my girlfriend likes ranch better so we got that but I gotta say that ranch is reallyyyy good so I'd recommend trying that with your pizza too. Food - 4.5/5 Service - 4/5…read moreAmbiance - 3.5/5 I had only heard mixed reviews regarding this place going in, so I figured my experience was going to be the same, but it was an overall very positive one. The ambiance was nice as we walked in, and after being quickly seated next to a window, the atmosphere was nice. They did end up covering the window before we started eating, and the little bulb way above us and candle did not really provide light enough for us to eat (I get it is mood lighting, but I like seeing what I eat). The food was really solid, though. A few times I've been in the past it was all too salty, but this time around it was much better. I got the Farm Bird, and it was very juicy and had a very nice crunch. The Fish and Chips were nice and flaky, while the Pork Chop was extremely juicy and rich. The shrimp in the rigatoni was definitely oversalted, as well as the broccolini greens in the pork chop dish. The appetizers we got (Brussels Sprouts and Spinach Artichoke Dip) were both okay, though I prefer garlic bread to the chip for the dip and the sprouts were a little one note. The whiskey cake itself was very good, though I recommend only one plate for a group of 6 or less because of how rich it is, especially if you get the ice cream addition. Overall a very surprising experience, and while it carries a heavy price tag, it is absolutely a good choice if you're looking for a nicer meal out here.

Opus Bistro is a fine dining establishment. There is a good variety of appetizers, salads, and beef, chicken, and seafood entrees. They also have a decent wine list. In addition, for a relatively small cork fee, you can bring your own bottle. I have been here a few times now and find the food to be pretty good but not excellent, especially for the price. The waitstaff is attentive but the support staff is lacking. Water glasses remained empty for long periods of time. We split a Caesar salad (which the kitchen split for us; nice touch). I ordered Redfish which was prepared perfectly. She ordered Blackened Mahi Mahi with shrimp. She liked it. For dessert, we ordered Cheesecake. Bottom line - Although everything tasted good, it simply was not extremely memorable. We enjoy the location and the ability to bring your own bottle of wine, but prices seem high for what you get. 3.5 stars would be a fair review. Bon appétit, y'all.

I was genuinely disappointed with my experience at Opus…read more My wife and I had eaten here once before and, frankly, were not particularly impressed with the food. When we heard about the Buffalo Trace Bourbon Night, we saw it as an opportunity to give Opus a second chance while enjoying an event centered around one of our interests. As a bourbon enthusiast and collector with more than 120 bottles in my collection, this was a special event that I had been looking forward to for over a week. About a week and a half before the event, I called and made what I believed was a reservation. During that call, I specifically asked whether my wife could attend and have something other than bourbon. The young man I spoke with even put me on hold and checked with someone before confirming that would be fine. At no point during that conversation was I told that I was being placed on a waiting list rather than receiving a confirmed reservation. When we arrived the night of the event, we were handed a drink and then informed that we could not enter because there was no space available. Standing there with a drink in hand only to be told we were not actually admitted to the event was embarrassing and frustrating. We had planned our evening around this experience and were excited to attend, only to find out that what we thought was a reservation was apparently a spot on a waiting list. What made the situation even more disappointing was the lack of effort to make things right. Mistakes happen, and most reasonable people understand that. However, there was no meaningful attempt to accommodate us, no alternative offered, and very little acknowledgment of the inconvenience and embarrassment caused by the situation. The food itself remains what I would consider average--certainly not bad, but not memorable enough to overcome the customer service experience. We ultimately left and went to Kemah Steak Company, where we enjoyed excellent service, great steaks, and some outstanding Garrison Brothers bourbon. Ironically, the evening we had hoped to spend at Opus turned into a reminder of how much good service and customer care matter. I wanted Opus to prove my first impression wrong. Unfortunately, this experience only reinforced it. For a restaurant hosting specialty events, communication and customer service should be just as important as the food and drinks being served.

And listen, I'm basically a certified alcoholic (just kidding... allegedly), so trust me when I say I know a good drink when I taste one. Then she proceeds to make me the SMOOTHEST, yummiest espresso martini my tastebuds have ever had the privilege of experiencing.
