Not sure why we didn't try this place sooner. We come to the area about twice a year and we actually came to eat here twice in the same week. The food was great, exactly what you would expect for an Irish pub. The service was great and he informed us of Thai-rish Thursdays...So they offer a Thai style menu on Thursdays so we had to come back and try that. Again, an awesome meal, fresh and perfect! I don't know how I forgot to review this spot. But one year after boarding at Sullivans and we are planning another trip. The host/owner was great, we stayed in the apartment upstairs and went down to the bar for dinner. Really good Irish food! Plenty of parking and seating areas. This pub is a year old our waitress said. The bar was packed with hikers/campers and they seemed to be having fun! Very Irish Pub in decor and they played great Celtic music to listen too over the sound system. There is a special menu for this Columbus Day weekend of many items they do not normally make. The lamb shepherd's pie is a special for the weekend. The dining room is large so do not skip stopping just because the parking lot is busy. Most patrons were in the bar. The restaurant had a constant flow of people and stayed about 2/3 full while we were there. The tables are spaced nicely apart. We arrived on a Sunday around 3:30 PM. The seafood chowder was rich, thick and very flavorful. Just as good as Legal Seafood. A cup was $5.50 but it was loaded with seafood. Unfortunately they don't have cracked black pepper to add on top. My husband got the New England boiled dinner and he is Puerto Rican and never seated it before but the menu said HOMEMADE CORNED BEEF which he loves. He ate the entire huge plate her was served-except the cabbage which I happily ate instead. I ordered the lamb shepherd's pie. It does come in the stoneware bowl it was served in. The pie was very delicious and the only thing I would change is reducing the amount of potatoes and adding a bit more lamb. Lamb is rich so it may be too greasy. The grilled bread should have been served with butter or something. The table next to us loved their Irish nachos. I saw someone near us order a huge spring salad and it looked very fresh and good. Wanted something different so tried on Labor Day to no avail. Tried again and succeeded- Monday night. Very friendly waitstaff who greets you upon entering and maintains interest thereafter. Food is basic but good. Blarney Stone apps are round reuben deep fried; tasty. Chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli covered in sun-dried tomato sauce was above average. Blueberry cheesecake was very good. Personally, I see this establishment as a very good appre ski stop to refuel. For those who remember, it's the old William Tell restaurant. read more

Driven past this place many times, finally stopped. Glad we did! The bar has a cool old school vibe, that is a high compliment. It reminded me of a place I would go with my grand pop. We got the nachos with chili, my son got the Quiet Man burger and mine was the Smokin Joe. Both were well cooked and tasty. Cannot wait to try some more of their offerings. Callie the bartender was awesome; friendly, proper amount of check ins, and cute. She alone would make a trip back and settle in at the bar for a bit. AVOID! SANITATION NIGHTMARE! Stopped by this place after reading reviews thinking it might be a nice place to grab a beer after a hike. Unfortunately, we were extremely incorrect. Upon arrival these are the few things that happened. 1. Staff not wearing masks. The staff had masks down around their chin. From the wait staff to the individuals rolling the silverware. 2. Dirty table. Our table was dirty when they took us to sit down, instead of cleaning it properly the host cleaned it with her hand and a dry napkin. 3. Dirty menus. They gave us paper menus covered with food. Those three strikes from the moment we walked in were a sign to leave. This restaurant not only does not have proper sanitation for normal times, its' sanitation during COVID is the most unacceptable I've seen. read more

I'm so glad they were opened and only 20 mins away from the busy tourist area ( lincoln) The food and waitstaff are amazing. Never took long for our food to come out. Also, I have a lot of respect and admiration for the owner. He checked in on us to see how everything was going and we learned a lot about his amazing restaurant and the history. Fantastic food, people and great atmosphere. Wonderful staff and gracious funny owner. We started with the BBQ chicken wings which were tender and wonderful. Can't complain about the Guinness either! My wife loved her sandwich, one son had the bacon cheeseburger which he loved. The other had the kids Mac N Cheese. I had an amazing lobster roll...fries really fresh tasting as well, followed by 2 massive brownie sundaes for desert. The wings were amazing and the spicy honey for the steak sweet potato fries was the most unique-blend of sweet and spicy hot- I had to run to clean my sticky phone because I tried to stop eating it and kept dipping over it! This place fell short where it matters most. We were staying in New Hampshire to see the ice castles for a few days. We decided on JL Sullivan's for dinner on presidents weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The building is located in the national forest which is kinda cool and the building is old which in my experience can mean it has some serious history of making great food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had to wait because we were part of 3 parties waiting. The hostess staff was very communicative how long the wait was going to be. The wait in the entrance was not too bad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sat right by a propane fire place on a picnic table which we chose willingly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We just wanted food. We ordered an appetizer of a pretzel. Then the wheels fell off the train. We waited and waited. Food came out for another table and they put it on our picnic table to server to the other table. I was basically hovering over another tables food. It looks good as I was within ear shot of the food. My wife was too embarrassed to look at the tray. Time started crawling and my kids were slowly powering down due to the long wait. My kids drew all over the place mats they were given as we were waiting with our own pens. The waitress gave us some markers to draw. She tried to pacify us. The markers were chalk / whiteboard markers. The kind where you shake them with a ball inside and press down on the tip and a bunch of ink comes out. This proved to me a bit problematic for my 5 and 8 year olds. They got it all over the place, the paper their faces, the table. But it was a valiant effort of the waitress. So we're waiting for our food for what seems like forever. The wait staff seems to be missing in action at this point. I checked the time and we've been there for about 1 hour 10 min. We get the food. My daughter wasn't liking her mac and cheese too much as a bunch were clumped together. My first bite was fries; cold. My burger bottom bun is soaked the grease. I bit in and it's a little too rare for my liking. The bacon was barely cooked. At which point my wife and I were faced with our first decision at a restaurant we've ever made. I've been with my wife for 12 years and we've never sent food back until this night. Send the food back. We sent it back. It came back out a about 10 min later. Charred on the bottom burger. The fries were warm. But I was not playing this game, the ship had sailed and I was done. We told the waitress it was not her fault and we understood the circumstances. We got the bill and the burger was still on the bill. we had ask for it to be removed. We got out of there with some memories for sure. Needless to say we won't be back. All in all we were there for 1 hour and 40 ish minutes. We left and I went to one of my favorite chain establishments to quench my hunger. read more

The inside of this place is kinda cool. We sat near this big fireplace and there are so many knick-knacks on the walls, which gives that place a unique vibe. Overall, the food here was pretty good. I got a Reuben which came with a lot of fries--so that was a nice surprise. It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was what I was expecting. The service was good as well. My biggest knock would be the table we were sitting at and the menus. The table didn't seem to be screwed together correctly; my friend would lean on the table and the whole top would almost fall off! Cute spot almost in the "middle of nowhere". First impression was skeptical when our pretzel appetizer was $9 and was definitely a frozen pretzel with a 2 oz ramekin of cheese fondue (wish we had gotten more for the price) and the seafood chowder was slightly cold (but still tasty). Our impressions quickly turned around when the sandwiches were brought out. Very tasty Ruben and perfectly hot. Fries also crispy and delicious. Guinness marinated chicken sandwich was to die for!
