Great place to catch up with friends after work! Loved the ambience, the food and the service. The menu has a wide variety to choose from and will have something for everyone. The service is pretty quick and within moments you will be served a big plate of heaps of food, not bad for the money you pay. Three of us went for fish and chips, BBQ pork ribs and pulled chicken tacos. Fish and chips was very good, enormous chuncks, beer batter fried to perfection and tasted delish till the last bite. BBQ pork ribs had a coffee rub which we couldn't really taste but the ribs were well cooked, meat almost falling of the bone. Chicken tacos were packed with lots of filling and flavor. We also exchanged our sides with other ones we prefered. Our friend was having a birthday and we were meeting up for that reason, and they caught on to that and provided the bday girl with some awesome dessert on the house ! Yes, extremely nice of them! Came to eat with my wife and 3 year old. We always feel uncomfortable going out to eat with our daughter but we had a great experience thanks to our server Cameron. He helped her pick her meal from the kids menu and circled back frequently to check in on us. Cleaned plates and trash off the table quickly so our daughter couldn't make a mess. Even brought her a brownie sundae for finishing(sort of) her chicken tenders. On a visit with one of my college best friends, she recommended we go to J Macklins for brunch. I'm always open to try local spots, so off we went. I was very impressed by the ambiance in the restaurant upon walking in. Once seated, I was amazed by the choices on the menu very little "Safe" options which I rarely like to play it safe when ordering anyways. I went for their rendition of chicken and waffles. This was not regular chicken and waffles people this was next level. The waffle was described as bacon/Gouda, spicy fried chicken breasts, fried onions, spicy honey butter, and topped with a fresh jalapeño. WOW it was amazing all of my taste buds were at attention with the lovely sweet and spicy combination. Definitely packed on more heat though which I loved to accompany my cranberry mimosa. I went there for the first time for Sunday brunch. It was delicious! I sat on the patio and it was so nice! They play good music, and it's not so loud as to be annoying. I'd advise getting there early, it looked like it filled up quickly with the after-church crowd after I got there at about 9:30. My server, Maygen was extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. They have bottomless mimosas for $12.50, and my glass never went empty. I had breakfast tacos and a side of cheese grits. I could do bottomless mimosas and bottomless cheese grits all day. Everything was delicious and came out promptly. My only tiny complaint is the patio tables are short! I felt like I was sitting at the kids table, and I'm only 5'4"! It just seemed a bit...low. Maybe it was just the table I was sitting at. We have been here at least 5 times with this time being the most lackluster. That's okay, though, you can't always be on point. Their chicken and waffles is absolutely amazing and will blow your mind. Today though, I had the chicken fried steak just to switch it up. Very large portion. It was very flavorful and the meat was probably the most tender I have ever experienced in Texas. And I've been to my fair share of "Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas" places. I wouldn't rank it up there, but it won't disappoint either. The spicy Bloody Mary is great and will definitely wake you up with a very interesting twist to it. I've had it multiple times and it is consistent and flavorful. Lots of depth and a variety of favors going on for sure. Girlfriend usually goes with some kind of mule they have (blackberry?) and she is never disappointed, either. The waitress this time was very friendly but I experienced my water not being refilled this time around, which was strange. The girlfriend said that her dish had a burnt bun on it too. So, while not a deal breaker it was definitely our worst experience here. Being able to go somewhere and have a consistently good experience means a lot. This is definitely one of the better options in the Coppell/Lewisville/Flower Mound area. Granted, that's not saying much. There are not a lot of high quality restaurants in an area dominated by chains. But still, this place is pretty good. I especially like that they have a lot of "southern" options. Shrimp and jalapeno cheese grits. Chicken and waffles. Brisket nachos. None of them are the best I've ever had...and perhaps they're a tad over-priced. Wet good food served promptly with excellent friendly service. Great beer selection, good happy hour specials. I had the grilled red snapper with grits and crawfish cream sauce and it was delicious. The good reviews brought me here and they were very accurate. I was seated and served quicker than i ever expected. My appetizer was queso blanco, which was outstanding. I chose the turkey burger as an entree. It came out in a very timely manner, still hot from the grill. The burger packed more flavor than most high priced beef burgers i've had. We've been here multiple times in the last month, for dinner and for brunch. The food and service are both excellent. Even when there is a line, things move along quickly and efficiently, so the wait is not as long as would be expected. So few restaurants these days provide water, along with whatever drink is ordered, and that is a very nice touch. I love bread pudding, so anytime I see it on a menu I have to order it. At some restaurants it is good, and some not. Here it was very good. Burgers, salads, fish, breakfast - all excellent. Again, great bread pudding and I will try the brownie sundae when we go for dinner this week. If I had to make one suggestion, it would be for the sides I know are available to actually be on the menu. The mixed vegetables that come with the Mahi Mahi are amazing and I would love to see them on the menu. read more

Just moved to Coppell. We dined here in January 2023. As always I share reviews for others good or bad, when we all dine out we pay our money for service and food. Unfortunately, this was really bad. My husband ordered a salad and sandwich. I ordered a salad and artichoke dip for my meal. I advised the waiter that I was a vegetarian (not vegan) and those 2 items would be my meal, my selection was limited. The lettuce did not seem to be cleansed and the dressing tasted old. He brought our foods out separately and before our tea. We waited and waited for my husband sandwich, finally we had to go and I said we will just take the sandwich to go, again we were waiting and waiting and come to find out they had not placed the sandwich order in, until I said we would take it to go. While we were waiting for the sandwich, a waitress came up and we were talking about their menu and she said oh we have specials today of these vegetables. Our waiter said nothing about these vegetables when I told him I was a vegetarian knowing I was limited from ordering from the menu. My husband doesn't notice things like this but I am a clean person. And I always look to see how clean a place and servicers are when I am going to eat there. When I got in the car I told my husband I felt sick and he said why and I said did you see our waiter's fingernails? they were so dirty! I can never go back there! read more

Curbside pickup here last evening was perfect. Grilled cheese and tomato basil soup were perfect on a chilly evening. The sandwich was large enough to share, and was nicely grilled with a gooey center. The soup was one of the best tomato soups I have tasted. I am a tad disappointed that there weren't more shrimp or maybe larger shrimp ( 5 shrimp total) but the grits were a home run. My taste buds were very grateful. Omg this is my first time here and I can't say enough about how amazing the food is here! I got the Jaywalker Tacos with their Blanco Queso for an appetizer... perfection. The atmosphere was really chill at the time I went, just after lunch rush, on the patio. Rachel was our server, and she was so attentive and friendly to make me and my boyfriend's first time experience the very best. We didn't even have to ask for to go drinks, she had them ready! My boyfriend had their brunch chicken and waffles and omg, that is a Texan sized meal! The dinner portion apparently is larger! Wow. Came here for a happy hour last Thursday with some coworkers. I ordered the jaywalker tacos and substituted the side of black beans with sweet potato fries. These were hands down some of the best tacos I have had in awhile. The combination of pulled chicken, jalapeno-cilantro aioli, pico, cotija, avocado and poblano slaw worked extremely well together. A group of hockey players and their parents had lunch on their patio which is a great space for outdoor dining. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I heard the shrimp tacos were amazing. Their tomato basil soup was very good - rich and creamy. I had their brisket nachos and they were superb! Another friend tried the pork belly and loved it. My husband got the crisp chicken sandwich with habanero bacon which he really liked...the bacon very spicy so he ate it separately but it was very good. Several people tried their salads and said they were very good. They had a kids menu too which is always nice. A few is tried one of their signature drinks and enjoyed those as well. I had the clarification which was gin, prosecco, lime and cucumber which I enjoyed because it wasn't too sweet. They have an amazing wait staff too. I live in Lewisvile and enjoy a few restaurants surrounding my house, however, none as much as I enjoyed J. Macklins! We stumbled upon the place one Saturday afternoon and decided to stop by for a drink to chat and decide what we were going to do with the rest of our evening. We were greeted with a smile and ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and knowledgeable - I ended up having a Blackberry Mule- it was amazing and fresh and just the perfect combo of flavor | alcohol! To make a long story short, we ended up staying and having an early dinner!! It is the perfect combination of casual & upscale- from the hostess to the serving staff and management, we really enjoyed our time and have been back several times with our families!
