This is the third JP Licks I've been to, and it's definitely got a different vibe than the others to match the surrounding Assembly Row location. Beautiful, gleaming store, but less homey and quirky than the others. The ice cream is really good. When I came here pre-pandemic, I had some kind of salted caramel cashew flavor (I honestly can't remember), and it was one of the best ice cream flavors I had had in years. I like that they try to be creative with their flavors while still offering quality ice cream. The only thing that kills me is the prices. It's definitely more expensive than other local ice cream places. I would come here more often if they would just lower their prices, because spending $5 for a small cup of ice cream is extreme. read more

It's always fun to go to JP Licks for a treat, after walking around Assembly Row for a bit we wound our way here. There was a line but it moved pretty quickly. They have ice cream, soft serve ice cream, frozen yogurt both hard and soft serve. Was difficult for me to see the menu behind counter, but when I got closer I could read the hard yogurt flavors and made up my mind with a back up. My friend had X yogurt flavor which I guess is a base, soft serve, I had a tiny taste and sort of reminded me of boxed cheese cake mix and I ordered a frozen yogurt hard mocha chip, it's hard to find mocha. We paid at the register and the server brought me a coffee chip, to note, she asked if it was okay or she would switch me out, I just don't understand why she did not tell me they did not have mocha, when I ordered but maybe it was just busy Friday night and there was already more of a line so I said okay. The coffee chip was very good--not too sweet you can taste the coffee the chocolate from the crushed chips. We both got small cups so with tax about $13. They have some general seating inside but we went outside and sat in the greenway part of the Assembly Row complex. read more

The Assembly Row location is quite possibly the prettiest JP Licks location. It's got giant glass windows, bright hanging lamps, and funky signs on the side of the building. There's seating inside, but also plenty of benches and tables outside (not to mention a lovely riverfront park across the street). Simply sublime! read more

I came here in the wee hours of 10-11am in the morning for the ube ice cream back in September. Nobody was here; therefore I was able to get instant and great customer service. When the ube ice cream is back in season this coming summer, I am sure as hell getting another serving of this. read more

The only negative comment I have is their line during peak hours. And the fact they give you a second to order or someone shouts to keep it moving or something similar. But I guess you already had 10 mins to decide from the wait. Ice cream is amazing here! I am used to going to the one at Charles Street in Boston near my job. This is comparable. They always have seasonal flavors which is a must try. They also have frozen yogurt and dairy free products. If you're thinking of trying their ice cream cake, I highly suggest you do! Freezing out on a late December night - won't stop me from having some amazing ice cream. Usually a line in the summer, a great place to visit in the cold months for a quick dessert fix. Decided on the 2 scoop on a chocolate dip cone ($6ish) - one of the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Chip and another of the Maple Butter Walnut. Maple Butter is supremely rich with little walnut pieces to add some texture to the creaminess. Low-key peanut butter flavor in the other scoop with globs of cookie dough and choco chips. Incredibly satisfying and held together nicely in the cone. Servers are kind and let people taste without any qualms. Huge ever-changing menu, so good reason to come back. read more

Great location and outdoor seating. I had heard this was one of the go to spots for ice cream in Boston so had to give it a try. The interior is clean and bright. Ice cream, shakes, frozen yogurt, and waffle cone flavors fill the chalk boards. We tasted a few flavors and went with the pistachio in a white chocolate dipped wafffle cone. Sooo creamy and real big pieces of pistachio! The service was fast and friendly. My one complaint is the price. It costs around $5 for this scoop and the waffle cone was even on sale for 50 cents. Places like this make me so happy that I don't have to feel like a burden being a lactard when going out for food with friends. Ice cream open late! Why not? If you are craving a late night ice cream spot I recommend this place. They have some nice unique flavors and always have new season flavors which I appreciate. Its not the best ice cream in the world but you can always find something you like after sampling a few as with a lot of other places. Went there last night Jan 6 and wanted a coffee. Noticed that the coffee was old. There are timers on the pot. I asked the girl if I could have it for free she told me no. I said ok then can you brew a fresh pot she rolled her eyes sighed and said yes but it's going to take at Least ten minutes.
