oh. em. gee. best pasta i've ever had in my life…read more i was looking online for an italian restaurant and this came up multiple times. first off, the interior is gorgeous, plush green seats and antique style. we ordered their special items of the night: lobster risotto and the vodka veal. genuinely the best risotto i've ever had. the people online were not lying when they said their vodka rigatoni was the best. it was indeed very very delicious. even though all of us were full from the pasta, we still had to get tiramisu. it was a perfect way to end the meal. our server was great and attentive, thank you for a wonderful meal.

My frustrating dealings with this company's incompetencies and utter disregard of customer service: I ordered a cake for my grandmothers 89th birthday. I told the female attendant I wanted a buttermilk cake with chocolate frosting. She told me this was possible but would cost extra for buttermilk. When I received the cake it was chocolate with vanilla frosting.... I called the Saugus location and spoke with the insensitive owner who told me that driving one hour total to retrieve the correct cake is a minor obstacle I would encounter in life... how insensitive. He then told me they don't offer buttermilk only yellow cake. Not only do their employees not know their menu, the inconsiderate owner clearly doesn't care about customer satisfaction or customers in general. Taking a correct order for cake is not rocket science and even though every business is capable of making mistakes, ONE WOULD THINK THE OWNER WOULD APOLOGIZE PROFUSELY AND BE CONCERNED WITH INCONVENIENCING A CUSTOMER. I have been eating at J Pace & Son for years. I have visited them near their MGH location and the one located in Saugus. All three locations that I have ordered from have been amazing. The subs are huge and always filled to the brim with whatever you ask for. There prices are reasonable and the line always moves quickly. The turkey was fresh and flavorful, and it was complemented by stuffing, cranberry sauce, spinach, pepper jack cheese, and just enough chipotle mayo to add an unexpected kick, without overwhelming everything else. It's one of those combinations that sounds busy on paper but comes together remarkably well. I spoke with several others over lunch, and they were equally impressed with their choices. That's always a good sign when you're feeding a crowd. It's one thing to make a great sandwich to order; it's another to deliver dozens of them catered while maintaining that level of quality. Since this was catered, I can't really comment on the restaurant itself. The service on the catering side, however, was evident in how thoughtfully everything was prepared and packaged, and the rooftop setting where we enjoyed lunch certainly didn't hurt. Cons: --Red baby potato salad was drenched in lemon zest, you couldn't take more than a couple of bites before tossing it because it was like eating shaved lemon peel. --For a self proclaimed "cheese club" there's barely any cheese on the menu, I was looking forward to an interesting cheese sandwich with like 3 different cheeses and veggies on baguette or something similar but the only sandwich options are turkey, fried chicken, prosciutto, pastrami, salami, ham, sausage burger, roast beef. More of a game club than a cheese club. (To be fair there is a small cooler with a few gourmet cheeses for sale). --No indoor seating even though the space could accommodate a small espresso table with a couple of chairs. As of August 2026, the website lists the burrito as $14, but the price on the in-person menu was $16. I would give the burrito 4 out of 5 stars because of the way it was wrapped - about a third of the burrito was just egg and cheese and the toppings (avocado, red onion, hash browns, salsa verde, crema) were crammed on the other side of the burrito. If there was a way for the burrito to be wrapped so all the ingredients were more evenly distributed - this would easily be a 5/5 breakfast burrito. One random detail that stuck out to me was that their drinks in their refrigerator were very cold - no lukewarm sodas here! I would come back here to try their signature "Fancy" sandwich. Overall, this is a very solid breakfast spot in Boston!
