Solid for fast food. Right off the Santa Rosa Exit, next to Starbucks, is Jack in the Box. Haven't been here in years. The wait wasn't long. I ordered the Cluck Sandwich, Lg Curly Fries, Lg Coke with easy ice. I tried the Onion Rings and Chick-N-Tater Melt. The Cluck sandwich was heavily breaded and seasoned, fried white breast meat. The newer sauce was good, but needed a little more. It was a little dry. The pickles added a nice sweetness, and bite/snap. It was good, but in a fast food way. The Curly Fries were typical. Salty, spicy/tangy and not super hot (could've been fresher.) They did easy ice with the Coke, which is a plus. The Onion Rings were tied with Sonics, for the best in Fast Food, but these weren't sweet, like Sonics. Once again, they also could've been fresher. And finally for the most confusing, the Chick-N-Tater Melt. Honestly, I found myself wanting to take more bites, but at the same time thought it wasn't that good. Idk. The croissant was soft and kinda just melts in with the gooey cheese/sauce they use. Creates a substantial thick, gooey, fatty, and creaminess. I didn't have the bacon on it, but that would've just made it fatter and greasier. The potatoes from the hash brown and the breaded processed chicken patty created this thick, salty, chicken, potato, and old school taste. I liked it and didn't at the same time, weird. It all sat pretty heavy on the stomach.

I just ALWAYS have to get my fast-food cravings in. Since the significant other won't help me cook, when he's out, I'm out getting my food on. Wasn't crowded at all at 1 pm. The sign on the front door is misleading, saying "DINING ROOM IS CLOSED". I asked the drive thru about the dining room situation and they said you can eat inside. Since no cars were ahead of me I told her I will order and eat inside. Today was a 2 tacos day. I just really like them. Prefer TB's New Taco shell fried right there instead of their mass production shells but these are pretty decent. Brings me back to childhood.

Drive thru only at this time. Not a lunch and bathroom stop location during a roadtrip.

I am giving Jack and the Box a 5 star for the simple fact that they are open on Christmas Eve right now. Thank you all for working!

Drive right on by, as fast as you can! This place is slower than Grandpa and Grandma on a Sunday drive on the 101!

Food and Service ++…read more I'm a fan of a good beans, rice, and cheese burrito. Oh & with sour cream of course. Sounds easy enough right? Not even close. I'm very particular about my beans and rice. I believe if you can make the staple foods taste so good with just the right flavoring then you probably make good food all the way around. Well I've been here a few times over the span of many years and they have consistently been good. I love the softness of a tortilla too, not firm or with any crunch to it. These are just what I like. I recently tried the Chile Relleno burrito because it's an alternative favorite and it was delicious. Some places have too much batter or they add a sauce with it. In a burrito, not a fan of the sauce. Taco de Mexico did not and I loved that. The cook who I'm pretty sure is the owner is always nice and gets things done quickly. He doesn't engage too much but is always very courteous. Another plus for me is that they open early. Upon moving up here I always found it interesting that the Mexican food restaurants don't open til 9 and later. I was used to the restaurants being open before sunrise. I know people can be fooled by appearance but story goes you will find some of the best food at the places you'd least expect it. While it's small there are at least 3 tables that can fit a party of 4 easily so you can sit down inside and enjoy. The parking lot though small, very small, is never packed. There is an empty lot next to it so I believe it houses some eye sores but they have nothing to do with the quality of the food or the experience. Don't let that deter you. I also like to add updates photos of the menu because that's one of the first pictures I look for. Things can change week to week. In my opinion and experience I recommend this place.

With that said, they have an extensive menu and the prices are affordable. - I got two carne asada tacos and the guacamole was free! Sadly, I did not care for the flavor or consistency of the guacamole. It was runny and flavorless. - The staff is welcoming and accommodating. I found parking easily in the back for free. There are indoor tables but I find the decor to be lacking. I think if you want inexpensive, super casual and spicy Mexican food, you may like this little spot.

He was Very friendly, very playful, which we enjoyed very much talking to him during our order. I Had lunch with my coworker. I ordered the Chile Verde plate. The meat was very tender and the chili sauce that was in it was not spicy but had a good flavor. The beans and rice gave it a great touch cause they both had a really good flavor as well. It came with either corn or flour tortillas which I ordered the corn tortillas which were very soft and tasted homemade. I will definitely eat there again when I'm in town. But you will have to go there and eat to form your own opinion.

Disappointed at how their hot food has declined in value over the years. Came in today for tacos de…read moretripa, asada, and barbacoa. All tacos were surprisingly bland? Why? Wondering if they've stopped seasoning their meat in order to cater to the demographic here in Atascadero.... Especially the carne asada I mean apart from having so much fatty meat, it had no flavor. The service is always great too, just a little disappointing. When I'm talking about flavor, especially for $4 a taco, I expect a hint of garlic, salt, pepper, lime, etc. I expect the meat to be marinated and flavorful. Maybe they already do that, given they do sell amazing carne preparada, but the hot food just hasn't been the same for the last 3-4 times I've gone. I like supporting local mexican businesses so I continue to go but today might've been my last. I don't think I'll be driving from Slo to Suprema Meat Market for their hot food again. The cold and prepared meats are of high quality though so this review is strictly for the hot food. I understand that they need to stay competitive with the market, but the total for 5 bite sized tacos was $22.... That's insane. For $4 a taco, I just expect more. I hope they review this and implement some change! I see that the owner reached out and I appreciate his response. Maybe I'll give it a try again.

Not impressed with this one as it was tough and chewy. Do not remember the name, unmemorable. After the first Taco I ordered a Chicken Enchilada. Arriving quickly she stayed the plate would be hot. Well ... the little kid in me has to touch. Was only between warm and hot. More patrons were arriving and I took a bite of the Enchilada at the end. Okay hot though from past experiences it usually is not hot in the middle. And I was right, between warm and hot but not hot enough. The kitchen was starting to get busy though don't RUSH the food just to get it out, only needed a few minutes more. The Enchilada Sauce was tasting the same as last time which is ??? Service was spotty though won't get into that one.
