This place is a serious gem, the kind you almost don't want to tell others about because it's that good and you don't want to ruin it. Incredible hot food tucked away inside a thriving mest market and tiny grocery store. Three of us got the quesabirria with the dipping au just. This was truly indulgent perfection. Hot juicy meat, crispy taco shells, luscious meaty cheese, and dark orange juices that die your fingers (bring napkins!). The last of us got a carne asada quesadilla easily big enough for two, if not three, people. The meat was similarly succulent and delicate (not chewy) on a luxurious flour tortilla. 5++ out 5. Would absolutely plan my day around a trip here! Great service and really clean bathrooms too! three, people. Pedí dos tacos de al pastor, me los comí, pero sabía que estaba comiendo tacos de chorizo

The only one I fully enjoyed was the Quesabirriia taco that I ordered. Next time I'll just stick to ordering the meat from them and making it myself.

What a pleasure. If you have read any of my previous reviews, you will know I almost never give poor reviews (I only review establishments that impress me enough to warrant a review), and I am very particular about my Mexican food. Suprema was a fantastic experience all around. When I first entered the store, I immediately noticed the fine selection of meats. Signs informed me that the beef was Harris Ranch, and USDA Prime. Nice. I was then pleasantly surprised to see a small produce section, and a large selection of hot sauces. Within leas than a minute after beginning examine the menu, I was approached by a very polite employee who informed me that he could help me at the cash register as soon as I made my menu selection. I made my decision and headed there. Before he could help, another employee was right there to assist me. I gave her my order: (1) Chile Relleno, (1) Taco de Cabeza, (1) Taco de Carnitas. After paying for my order (less than $16) I started over to where I had seen the hot sauces. When I got there, another employee asked me if I needed anything moved so I could access the shelves better. When I mentioned that I was interested in the jot sauces, he directed me to another part of the store where they had the largest selection of Mexican hot sauces I've encountered. This led to a discussion between the two of us about our search for the perfect hot sauce. Long story short, if it is made, they can get it. He also recommended that I sample the Chicharrones, so I purchased a small piece along with two sauces to add to my collection. When I got home, I began my tasting with a nibble of the Chicharron. To my surprise, it was not just fat and skin, but about 60% meat. The skin was crispy, the fat was melt-in-your-mouth luscious, and the meat was firm, substantial, and flavorful. Normally, a little Chicharron goes a long way (very rich), but not this time. I devoured the whole piece. It may well have been the best Chicharron I've ever had. Solid 5/5. Next, I tried the Taco de Cabeza. The meat was incredibly tender without being slimy. The flavor was rich and savory, perfectly seasoned . The chopped cebolla was sweet and a crisp contrast, the cilantro was not overpowering, and the included grilled cebolla added a great flavor. To the next bite I added the Salsa Huichol Black. (I am a huge fan of the original. Similar to Tapatio, but less acidic and more richly flavored.) It was good, but not the beat pairing. So, I tried it with the Búfalo Clásico. The pairing was fantastic. I ate the last bite with some of the sautéed Serrano that was also included. It was great to the last onion. Again, solid 5/5. On to the Taco de Carnitas. Again, first bite without sauce. The cebolla/cilantro was the same as before. The Carnitas was firm and meaty, not dry, and with great flavor. Personally, I prefer my Carnitas a bit crispier, but I recognize that as my preference. This Carnitas was well within the range of good Carnitas. Because of the mildness of its flavor, t was best without sauce, as the sauce tended to overpower. However , it paired well with the rest of the Serrano. I'll take off a quarter point for preference, so, a solid 4.75/5. Finally, the Chile Relleno, one of my benchmarks for good Mexican cooking. This was a very good Chile Relleno, but not quite perfect. The good: The chile was well cooked, and actually had char marks still on it. A very nice touch. The breading was firm to the tooth and well balanced. The cheese was, well, cheese. What else do you expect. The not perfect: while the sauce had good flavor, it was too acidic for me, and on the salty side. Still in the range of above average/good, but not great. The chile was a mess, all on one end, with all the cheese at the other end. This was great for tasting the individual parts, but not ideal for eating pleasure. It was also quite mild (no spice) with slightly more bitterness than I prefer. Combined with the poor assembly, I give this dish a 3.75/5. In general, this was a comfortable and welcoming experience. The staff was attentive and helpful, the selection (for a small Carniceria) ranged from adequate to excellent. The food I tasted was generally excellent, and the quality was quite high. Overall, a fantastic experience and one that I plan to repeat many times.

Taco Tuesdays just got a whole lot tastier! We'd driven up or down Hwy 101 and always had seen their big red sign. I had always assumed it was some sort of butcher shop, with meat on hooks, sharp knives, and big men wearing white aprons. So we finally took a chance and veered off the highway to explore. Pulling in to the parking lot we saw someone tending to an open barbeque, and both the smell and looks of the delicious meats drew us right in. In their amazing space they have an incredible selection of items imported from Mexico. Things that you won't be able to find anywhere else. Kitchen accessories and paper products, gift items, fresh Pan Mexicano, Mexican sodas, onions and garlic, dairy and juices, choice beef, marinated meat, specialty chips and snacks, Mexican spices, cheeses and deli meats. On a nice sunny afternoon we enjoyed their Nachos and Wet Burritos, and am very excited to try their combo plates, and their menudo and tamales on the weekends. Thank you Veronica for taking the time to show us around and help us with our shopping. We ended up getting some serious Christmas shopping done here.

If you want the best Taco Tuesday in SLO county, Suprema Meat Market is the one. Located behind the new gas station in Atascadero, right next to the freeway. Plenty of parking and multiple tables in front of the building. When you enter, there is 2 cash registers, right in front of you. That's where to order your cooked food. The menu is behind the meat/cook counter. They have everything you can think of; meats, marinated meats, produce, Mexican cheese, seasonings, candy, etc. It a true all in one for your Mexican needs! I ordered 8 Pollo Asado Tacos for Taco Tuesday ($1.99 ea). First , everything is made to order. Second, homemade tortillas! Inside the homemade tortillas is grilled to order marinated Pollo Asado from the meat selection. Seasoned with that heavy Asado taste, with a char from the flat top grill. I ordered mild sauce because it's a well made verde salsa, just enough spice with a lot of flavor. The freshly chopped onion and cilantro on top cut through the meat and char, also adds a nice crunch. On the side are hot peppers, radishes and my favorite, grilled onion, which incorporates a beautiful sweetness to the tangy, sour, salty, meaty, char taste. So much going on, in a $1.99 taco. Beautifully done. The best Taco Tuesday in SLO County. Best Taco in SLO County. *I purchase my Oaxaca cheese from here, for my wife's homemade enchiladas and it's a game changer!*

BEST recipe for Chicharrones EVER! Never had them w carne on them!

Food and Service ++…read more I'm a fan of a good beans, rice, and cheese burrito. Oh & with sour cream of course. Sounds easy enough right? Not even close. I'm very particular about my beans and rice. I believe if you can make the staple foods taste so good with just the right flavoring then you probably make good food all the way around. Well I've been here a few times over the span of many years and they have consistently been good. I love the softness of a tortilla too, not firm or with any crunch to it. These are just what I like. I recently tried the Chile Relleno burrito because it's an alternative favorite and it was delicious. Some places have too much batter or they add a sauce with it. In a burrito, not a fan of the sauce. Taco de Mexico did not and I loved that. The cook who I'm pretty sure is the owner is always nice and gets things done quickly. He doesn't engage too much but is always very courteous. Another plus for me is that they open early. Upon moving up here I always found it interesting that the Mexican food restaurants don't open til 9 and later. I was used to the restaurants being open before sunrise. I know people can be fooled by appearance but story goes you will find some of the best food at the places you'd least expect it. While it's small there are at least 3 tables that can fit a party of 4 easily so you can sit down inside and enjoy. The parking lot though small, very small, is never packed. There is an empty lot next to it so I believe it houses some eye sores but they have nothing to do with the quality of the food or the experience. Don't let that deter you. I also like to add updates photos of the menu because that's one of the first pictures I look for. Things can change week to week. In my opinion and experience I recommend this place.

With that said, they have an extensive menu and the prices are affordable. - I got two carne asada tacos and the guacamole was free! Sadly, I did not care for the flavor or consistency of the guacamole. It was runny and flavorless. - The staff is welcoming and accommodating. I found parking easily in the back for free. There are indoor tables but I find the decor to be lacking. I think if you want inexpensive, super casual and spicy Mexican food, you may like this little spot.
