Wow where do i even start terrible experience. Was Referred by my dentist to see this specialist to get my gum checked out for some slight pain i been experiencing. First off does even introduce himself i basically did all the talking. Second i already had came in with my x-rays and decides to do his own. Proceeds to check my gums does not even wear a mask while checking them starts talking to me and boom some of his spit fell on my lip. I was disgusted it was over for me then and there. Dr. Shabanian was my dentist for about 10yrs and then I lost insurance and stopped going to him, when I got insurance again I made the mistake of going to a different dentist since I had moved and that experience was horrible, they charged me for things I didn't need but wouldn't service my favorites if I didn't pay for the unnecessary things. I'm in the process of getting insurance approval to go back to Dr. Shabanian since he is the only dentist I can trust. About two years ago I went in for a perio consultation and spent $60 to see the doctor for 20 minutes and have him tell me I needed gum surgery. I thought $60 was high for a simple office visit, but okay. Things went downhill, my referral and x-rays expired, and I need new everything. I called today to see what I needed when I was then told that his consultation fee had gone up to $195. To come in for 20 minutes and have him tell me I need the same thing. I was quoted $2,000 for the surgery I need two years ago and I am terrified to see what the price is now. $195 for a consultation? From $60? This all would have just been unfortunate info to get if it weren't for the bitchy receptionist he has. Every single time I have called over the past year (which is when I've been trying to get back in to see him) she has given me attitude and snapped if I didn't give her the information she wanted when she wanted it. There was a prior conversation when I was explaining my situation and what I needed and she kept interrupting me with an attitude because she thought she knew what I was going to ask before I asked it... she didn't and I had to tell her that if she would stop interrupting me and let me finish explaining, she might have an answer for me. It's bad enough hearing that a CONSULTATION price has more than TRIPLED, for just that - a consultation, when you are a dentist serving those with medi-cal (aka low income) but it's made worse with the service his patients receive. Your receptionist is the face of your office, they are the first ones greeting patients and the first person patients come in contact with, and this is the service she gives. Wish I could write a review based on Dr. Shabanian's actual work but his extraordinary receptionist's attitude made sure I wouldn't want to go back there for anything. read more

I went to Dr. Shabanian to have a tooth extracted and a new crown inserted. He was professional in the way he spoke to me, and he explained clearly what the procedure would entail. We started the process in 2019. When COVID intervened, I still had two more stages to my procedure. Dr. Shabanian's Office Manager, Flower, contacted me as soon as the office reopened to schedule my final appointments. She has always been polite, efficient, and very friendly when I come to the office. I had a positive experience working with Dr. Shabanian and his staff. It took me a long time to write a follow up review. It was a very unprofessional and traumatic experience. They set up my appointment to be the last one, I was the only client in the office, and they decided to "confront me" about my review. Yes, I was young and dumb for posting it before I was done with my treatment. I didn't however, deserve to be interrogated by it and cornered in a room by 3 others. Everything just seemed to have been calculated to confront me. I didn't deny it and it was extremely uncomfortable. I recently ran into one of the employee that was there when it all happened. She didn't have any kind words to say about this office either and knew what they did to me was wrong. I'm not quite done with my ordeal here (another follow-up in 2 wks), but so far I'm totally fed up with this doctor! I was referred to him by my dentist for gum surgery on what's left of my top teeth. He said there were possibly 5 teeth that may need a bone graph but he couldn't be sure until he was 'in there', hence, the reason he said I needed to be awake, that he would need my approval to go ahead with any bone graphs (at $710/tooth!). I was traumatized as a child, so it took all my might & Xanax to even show up! This doctor was so rude...telling me that I was making things way worse than they are! The rule for him to stop if it was hurting me too much, raise your left hand only (the right hand, if moved, would end up hurting me more!)... even if I was screaming & squirming, he wouldn't be stopping, have to raise the left hand! Two hours pass & we're done. He informs me that he did 3 bone graphs...um, wasn't I supposed to approve that?? I was too hurting & tired, wanted to get OUTTA there, so I didn't say anything until I called about 4 days later. Flower, the receptionist, says ohhh I'm sorry. Today was my 3 week appt to get the dang stitches out. He mumbles something...says it again, with his back to me, how'd you do...? Dives right in to start cutting the stitches out, seemingly pinching my gums with each clip...rudely telling me move my head left or right, further, close more, grrr ! I'm whimpering, he says you're gonna feel what I'm doing but it's not pain. Wait what? As soon as possible I came up for air (and to spit)... let him know not to tell me that I'm not in pain...I'M IN PAIN! He says well you want a shot? Of course not, just finish already, guh! Doesn't say another word to me until we're standing at the front desk. He had told the poor assistant to give me water to rinse. That was it. Nothing was said about the $2K+ that I'm being billed for...bone graphs. Flower had said he won't give me a credit...already gives discounts! But...I STILL gotta go back in 2 weeks... what the?! I can't wait for them to suggest my coming back after the first of the year to do my bottom teeth!! Ha! NOT! Needless to say...STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY...not sure who he thinks he is! read more

Highly recommend! I received gum contouring from Dr. and I love the results! Healing wasn't bad at all. I recommend you eat really good before your procedure and take an ibuprofen before hand (very smart). During the procedure you don't feel A THING, so pain free you could fall asleep. For the bottom procedure there was no bleeding, top procedure was very minimal bleeding and healed very well. Dr. took his time and did very neat work, I saw results immediately. I only experience one day of soreness, which was expected due to procedure. I was able to go to work the same day, but it was recommended that I stay home by Dr. I'm way more confident now and I don't regret anything. One of the best things I have done for myself in my life! The staff in his practice are kind and attentive. The doctor is personable, and courteous. I always feel like I'm receiving royal treatment. I really appreciate the time he takes to ensure I understand the issues I have with my teeth and my treatment plan. I could barely eat solid food before I came to see him. I came to Doctor Shabanian because I had gum problems. I pretty much have zero cavities but since I wouldn't floss and put off going to the dentist for a long time, I got gum disease. I got an appointment the same week I called. On my first visit the receptionist was kind and friendly. The assistant was also very polite. They had a very good video to watch in the beginning that explained what gum disease even is and how its caused. The doctor then came in and he really took his time to look at my situation and explain things. He was really interested in getting things fixed in my mouth as apposed to some places where they just want to recommend a lot of unnecessary things. He recommended gum procedure in three parts of my mouth and adding bone to one tooth area in order to save the tooth. On the day of the procedure, I was quickly seated in a high tech surgical room. I was totally numb for the procedure and didn't feel a thing. The doctor was so professional and did the necessary work quickly. My recovery after the procedure also went well. I went in for two follow up visits which were included in the price of the original procedure. The Doctor saved my mouth and teeth. I didn't have pay a huge fee and didn't have to get any unnecessary work. Just wish I hadn't waited so long to take care of this. I recommend everyone to not put off taking care of your dental problems and going to this doctor to fix the problems. read more

After I made appointment Wen I get to his office told for receptionist I'm referred by my Dr to cee Dr Jack for free consulation and she said ok let me talk him . He wasn't busy she let me in about 5 min . He looked my X-rays that he got from my dentist befor i got there then he said your insurance cuver this much you pay $800. I tod him just got laid off from work i can't pay that much and he said $400 I said let me talk with my wife . He pushed me to make decision but I said no. When I walked out from his office the receptionost asked me to sign a paper I said to her call u back tomorrow . After 7 month they send me a $200 Bill . I called and talk to her you didnt tel me any thing afer 7 monthes you send me this it dosn't make any sense . they send to collocation agency withen 10 days drop my sico score from 800 to 725 . DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS DENTAL OFFICE!! I created an account with yelp just to let people know how horrible this business is! I was referred by my dentist to see Dr Shebanian to get a tissue graft surgery for my receding gum. He was ok during the consultation, but once I paid my hundreds of dollars and I was in to get the surgery, he was the rudest person I had ever met! He made me feel bad for feeling nervous about the surgery, saying "if you're this nervous now and I haven't even started, I wonder how you will be once you see the blood!" That is a direct quote.... What kind of professional doctor would say anything like that to a patient??? He then proceeded to numb my gums by stabbing them about 7 times... That seems very excessive to me. I was also awake during the whole surgery and witnessed him treating his assistant like a slave. He YELLED at him to get the right tool or to hold my mouth in a better position. I felt bad for him because he is the only nice person in the whole office. After the surgery, I got in my car and cried. I couldn't believe what I had just experienced but I figured my mouth will be healed in a few weeks and I will never have to see him again... WRONG! THE SURGERY DID NOT WORK! I JUST SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS AND HAD A TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE JUST FOR THE STITCHES AND TISSUE TO FALL RIGHT OUT A WEEK LATER! Well, I went back to the office and the Dr assured me that we will get it taken care of. It has now been over 6 months and I have made numerous attempts to get some sort of answers but have gotten no where. The receptionists excuse is that for months on end, she isnt been able to get through to my insurance... But every time I call my insurance I get through right away and they say they are just waiting for a call back from the dental office. Another excuse she uses is that the doctor still hasn't given her an answer on what is going to happen regarding the failed surgery. This place is a complete joke! The doctor is rude, unprofessional and cannot do his job. The receptionist is just as conniving... From 1-5 the WORST! Dr. Jack Shabanian might have a Dental degree but his service and actions show the appositive! He has cero tolerance, no patience, careless, unprofessional, messy when doing work, demanding and the main thing is that he doesn't seem to have an understanding of how critical anesthesia reactions can be in certain patients based on their health. Patients health is not a joke, it's actually a life and death matter!!! Will not recommend this Dentist to one! I called Dr Shabanian office to get it checked my tooth ache. Rep told me on the phone that I had to pay $85 for an oral check up by the Doctor. Once the doctor determined what kind of work needed, He would tell me right then how much i will need to pay. Sounded fair and went over the same morning. After taking few x-rays Doctor diagnosed, gum was infected around my bridge and need two root canals and a new bridge follow by a deep cleaning finally told me i will have to pay all inclusive $3900. Since i was in pain i told him go ahead and start and let me know how much i have to pay for the same day. I paid another $500 total $585 He did taken out my bridge by numbing me and drill my two teeth's where my previous bridge was sitting and prescribed me an antibiotic. Went and got the drugs, felt better in a week and decided to hold off and get it done later told them provide an itemize work sheet expecting refund from my $585. took them another day till they came back with itemized rcpt. was all added up to exact $585. I felt i was overcharged by this doctor for his work and would not recommend to anyone. read more

I could clearly see the $1,200 on the Post-it note that the Doctor wrote & I could clearly see where she or the Doctor wrote over the 2 to make it look like a 5 to make $1,500 I try my best to be nice to her and not raise my voice don't want to be the Angry Black Woman she was clearly upset and going back and forth with me with ATTITUDE about the pricing and then she started insulting my intelligence by saying that the 2 look like it could have been a 6 or an 8 to make it 1,600 or 1,800 I really really want these new dentures for $1,200 like the doctor quoted me. Dr. Shabanian came to the front and I asked him how much did he quote me for the new dentures, and he said, without hesitation $1,250.00. He was off by $50 I could deal with that but $300. Nope! after I decided not to get the Dentures for $1,500 she had the nerve to charge me $144 for cancellation fee that's crazy and put it on my Care Credit Card I'm so sad because I really like his work & location but I will not go back to him anymore because of his receptionist the lady that greet you with a beautiful big smile aint so beautiful they lost a good customer over $300. in the future just be honest and say look we made a mistake prices went up it's an extra $300 I would have did it don't lie and try to make it seem like I'm crazy and was wrong about the price and I can clearly see the original price i was quoted scratched out and written over I'm not stupid the four stars go to Dr. Jack Shabianian I'm going to miss you read more

Incredible!!! I'm 44 years old and never have I seen such unprofessionalism from a dentist, EVER!!! I had a 4:30 p.m. appt. for an extraction (had been placed on antibiotics by Mr. Shabanian and I'm also a Diabetic) but only received a numbing swab after being in the office for over 45 minutes before Mr. Shabanian (I refuse to call him a doctor because he doesn't adhere to the doctorial codes of ethics) entered in at 5:17 p.m. advising me that he was going to numb me. No explanation was given for the delay and when I asked him what was the purpose in giving me an orange priority slip for 4:30 p.m. if I was going to be seen over 45 minutes later, he immediately got an attitude, removed his gloves that he had just put on and told me that he could do nothing for me and told me that I needed to find another dentist because they were just too busy for me. It appears evident that he's into getting cash from the patients rather than dealing strictly with insurance benefits, this way he can gouge the poor and rip them off without them being aware of the fact that they're being ripped off and then poses it to them as if he's the one doing such a good job for them. It may be possible that he does do a decent job, but at what expense??? I really feel that he didn't want to see me because he knew that I wouldn't have to give up any cash and he couldn't play the rip off game with me. I say this because at the time of the initial scheduling of my appt., the manager asked me which one of my insurances did I want to use because both of my insurances covered only 80% at which time I made her aware that I knew that if one insurance covered 80%, my other insurance would pick up the remaining 20%... Please be careful people and make sure you know exactly what your dental insurance covers, what it doesn't, and the average cost of what's not covered. I've seen it all too often where these dental offices are charging you co-pays for procedures that are completely covered by your dental insurance benefits.. Oh, and when I asked for the x-ray film of my tooth, they told me that I would have to pay $30 and receive the film on an unknown later day.
