I have passed by this place a million times and finally decided to head in. The overall vibe of the restaurant is a bit upscale and it looks like a great date night spot judging by the amount of couples at the time of our reservation. The restaurant was just about filled which led us to be sat in a very far back corner where there was additional seating, nothing to complain about there it was very private and quiet which was amazing. Now onto the food! It was absolutely phenomenal! For an appetizer I had a Cesar salad and then I ordered myself the 12oz filet mignon. It was cooked to perfection with a perfect amount of char just thinking about it as I type is making my mouth water! They've service was quick and we were in and out of the restaurant in about 2 hours. The prices are a bit steep but totally worth it. Funny how you walk by something so many times over 20 years and never visit. Well that finally ended. Hostess and waiters were great. The tuna tar tar was INSANE and love by all. I wish the grilled octopus was larger. If you read my reviews, you know I order this EVERY time i see it on the menu. NY Strip was cooked to perfection with that great char i love. From the second we sat down we got that vibe to just leave. Before she even made our drinks we were already leaving. Their menu ranges from seafood, to steak, to classic brunch favorites. For appetizers, my table started with the oysters, calamari, and the wings. The wings were perfectly crispy and flavorful. Went for restaurant week in New Haven. Made reservations on open table however it was for a Sunday night and restaurant was relatively slow when we arrived. Large oversized booths around the perimeter of restaurant which was quite comfortable. Loud club type music playing was definitely the vibe here but could have been turned down a bit. Not the place for a quiet intimate conversation. Bar area was pretty busy and seemed like a popular hangout. A little confusion by the staff who seated my friend about the restaurant week menu but got that sorted quickly. We both had French onion soup: certainly average compared to other places but not bad at all. I had the sea bass entree which was pretty good and flavorful but portion was a little thin. Dessert was chocolate mousse cake which we both got. The table next to us were filming their entire meal for social media and their dessert plates were certainly more "jazzed up" than ours. I went here for a wedding reception in which the guests paid for their own meals. I was hesitant in going prior to reading the reviews. I can say that the food was bland and overpriced. Most of the staff do not speak English so at times it was difficult to communicate regarding our questions. We were also told that we have to pay but table as they do not split bills. This was disappointing because everyone had different pay methods and the invitation just stated to bring money to cover your own meals. Gratuity was an automatic 20% even though our table had 4 people and the receipt says they charge that after 5 people. I wouldn't return personally but would want you to have the experience yourself. The bar area seemed to be packed so I'm not sure if this is what they specialize in. I wouldn't return personally have had a better meal at Texas Roadhouse vs what I got. We went around Happy Hour and were warmly greeted and seated immediately. we asked to be seated inside where the booths were separated with plexiglass and tables adequately spaced. Several tables were also available outside. We ordered oysters for starters. The oysters were expertly opened and were served ice cold. The oysters were tender and delicious. We ordered Uber and got a dozen oysters on the half shell, Caesar salads, beef tips and garlic shrimp. First off, the packing of the food itself was a thing of beauty. For those of you who order from Uber or any other delivery service, often the way the restaurant packs the food can make for a good or bad dining experience. They nailed it!! The oysters were shucked perfectly, with no shell or grit, individually wrapped and on ice. They were awesome, plump and juicy. The Caesar salad had shaved Parmesan, the beef tips were very flavorful, and the garlic shrimp were easy U12. All were seasoned perfectly and not a salt lick. We did add cracked pepper, but that was it. The portion sizes were also perfect and neither of us finished, so a nice light lunch for tomorrow. I hadn't been before because the reviews weren't that favorable, but my workplace planned a brunch for all of us so I decided to come. I got there before my coworkers, and there was no one seated yet. There was no front of house also, so I stood there for several minutes waving to them before they finally noticed me. Our server was an interesting guy. He was friendly, which was good. He brought us the dinner menu though, which was hilarious since it was 11:00 am. We had to ask for the brunch menu several times before he finally gave it to us. Some things on the brunch menu were more expensive than the dinner menu, and vice versa. This restaurant's prices are all over the place, like the filet mignon is appropriately priced ($38), but the seafood tower is $75. The server didn't know how to pour wine. Watching him stretch out over the table, glug it in the glass and dribble it everywhere was kind of amusing. I ordered a glass of rum on the rocks. It was great. Took him 15 minutes to get it to me, and I had to remind him I'd ordered it. Part of the issue too, was my coworkers had all ordered mimosas and he'd kept trying to convince me to have what they were having, and I had to keep telling him no, I wanted the rum. For my meal, I got the seafood omelette. It wasn't bad. Not memorable, and not worth $30 in my opinion. The side salad was decent. Our boss had ordered fried calamari, the giant pretzel and a charcuterie board for the table, and THOSE were way better than my meal had been. I've come to Jack's several times over the years and have always enjoyed the food. Today, I ordered a NY Strip Steak. When it came out, the steak appeared slightly overcooked. Most of the time, I don't say anything, but when the steak costs $58, I'm more inclined to make sure it's cooked right. After speaking with the waiter, they remade the steak for me. This time, it was raw. It looked like it had been seared for a minute on each side and then sent out. For a steakhouse, this seemed to be deliberate as it was far too undercooked to be a simple mistake. The fat was not rendered at all, and the steak was ice cold. After speaking with the manager, they took the steak off the bill. It was disappointing because I was looking forward to a nice steak on Christmas Day. If that had been the end, it would have been fine. But the waiter seemed to be avoiding our table, and I did not see him for over 20 minutes while we looked over the dessert menu. Even after ordering our desserts, it took at least 10 minutes for them to come out. Afterwards, the waiter and manager were nowhere to be found, and I eventually had to go to the front to try and pay the bill. All in all, we spent over 2 hours there, when we should have been done in about 1:15-1:30. I felt as if they were avoiding me. So I have myself to blame for the curiosity because much as I wanted to believe I knew there is absolutely no way in hell that they could be serving a burger made out of actual Kobe Beef considering that a pound of A3 chuck costs about $42 on average. Which doesn't leave a lot of room for profit for using it in a $23 burger even at 4 ounces per serving. My bartender claimed 8 ounces mind you so that would be "sale at cost." Well, what came out was the saddest fake@$$ery imaginable. In fact I doubt the meat was even "American Wagyu" or whatever hacks these days try to pass off as top end beef in the world, in betting on the ignorance of the average consumer. To their credit the burger was cooked a perfect Medium with a nice plump red center point, but that's where the good stopped and the cringe started. The meat for one, tasted like what the inside of a refrigerator smells like after a few years without cleaning. A distinct metallic acidity you get when the heme in the blood broke down entirely. Suck on a handful of pennies if you'd like to know what that's like. The bread wasn't much better unless they intended to run a punchline about how dry Ben Shapiro's wife is on date night. All in all total and absolute disappointment and doubly so considering you can just walk across the street to Louie's Lunch for one of the best burgers in the country...at $7.00 Posting on here and Google because this "restaurant" is an absolute affront to dining. read more

First I must say some of the comments that people left are hilarious. Some advice to those complaining about the prices. Go onto the restaurant website 100% of the time you will find the menu with the pricing. If it fits your budget then you go, if not you simple don't go. Don't complain about pricing without doing your research and then want to blame the restaurant. The bad food review is interesting because not one person who disliked the food mention anything about sending it back...
