Atmosphere is an upscale city vibe with deep wood tones and a horseshoe shaped bar that seats well. The food ... flavorful and light appetizers. WeChat out Jack's during happy hour., and order the octopus bites, garlic shrimp, some garlic fries, and clams casino. A couple of really nice fresh made house. Margaritas was a perfect pairing with these very tender and super delicious appetizers.. Our group raved about the clubs, but the shining star was absolutely the octopus dish, which was probably the most tender I've ever had . We will definitely return again .

I got the steak with peppercorn sauce, mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. They were SO good. Steak was cooked perfectly. Only downside is for the peppercorn sauce they gave me a small ramekin that was not enough to cover the steak even though I paid extra for the additional sauce. The lobster risotto also had NO flavor.

    Porterhouse, overcooked to hell.

Call me crazy but when paying nearly $300 for steak one should be able to expect it to be cooked somewhere close to what was requested. This isn't even within the vicinity of medium rare. Last time giving these clowns a chance.

Had a great dinner here to start off New Haven Restaurant Week! The service was great the server picked out our dessert and it was delicious. The fried calamari tasted fresh but the fra diavalo mussels were outstanding the sauce was great. The bar has a nice vibe to it very well decorated. Will definitely be back!

Stopped in for brunch and was thoroughly impressed. The service was amazing, and the food was delicious. They have a full bar which offers a wide selection of cocktails. Their menu ranges from seafood, to steak, to classic brunch favorites. For appetizers, my table started with the oysters, calamari, and the wings. The wings were perfectly crispy and flavorful. Our entrees consisted of seafood pasta, as well as brunch favorites like the chicken and waffle, loaded omelette, and crab cake eggs Benedict. We all enjoyed our meal. We concluded with chocolate mousse for dessert. I recommend for your next brunch experience.

I decided to give this place another try since I was in the area and it was during lunch hours. I decided to have a lonely lunch and sat at the bar. The service was exceptionally well compared to my last experience. Food was tasty as well.

I went here for a wedding reception in which the guests paid for their own meals. I was hesitant in going prior to reading the reviews. I can say that the food was bland and overpriced. Most of the staff do not speak English so at times it was difficult to communicate regarding our questions. We were also told that we have to pay but table as they do not split bills. This was disappointing because everyone had different pay methods and the invitation just stated to bring money to cover your own meals. Gratuity was an automatic 20% even though our table had 4 people and the receipt says they charge that after 5 people. I wouldn't return personally but would want you to have the experience yourself. The bar area seemed to be packed so I'm not sure if this is what they specialize in. I wouldn't return personally have had a better meal at Texas Roadhouse vs what I got. Oh and most menu items are a la carte.

I really appreciate the experience of going to the bar, where I can relax with some delicious appetizers. I savored the pork belly and calamari paired with a lovely glass of wine. The service here is consistently warm and attentive, and it's comforting to know that the food never disappoints.

Parted ways with my cousin after dinner here. Very delicious Food: We started with tuna tartare and then moved onto a shared porterhouse and 12 oz filet mignon. Sides were the asparagus, mashed potatoes, and spinach. We had some red wine to pair and topped it all off with a brownie dessert. Yum! Service: The staff were very professional and polite. Very classy Ambiance: Everything was still decorated for Valentine's day and there was a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. Someone had described the vibe as "clubby" which I agree with based on the music they were playing.

    RIBEYE 22oz, FRIES

22oz ribeye cooked medium rare with a side of chimichurri sauce and truffle fries. The steak was THE MOST PERFECT medium rare with a perfect crisp on the outside without that overcooked outer layer some places have. The chimichuri sauce added a mouth watering brightness and tang that complimented the rich, juicy, melt in your mouth steak perfectly. The truffle fries - a must for any truffle lover! While red is a classic with beef, as a sauvignon blanc lover, their New Zealand sav could not be skipped with its perfect crisp, tartness! Their service made me feel right at home! They let me sample their wine before choosing, gave me recommendations based on what I told them I liked, and made sure I was satisfied with my meal. This place is perfect for when family is in town, date night, special occasions, or even just dinner for one!

A beautiful establishment for a fancy date night. PRICEY!! Especially for what we were looking for, which was a quick bite to eat before a concert. The food was very good, nice crisp wings with perfect buffalo sauce to dip in. The Brussels sprouts salad was heavenly and the crème brûlée was perfection. Service staff were great, very attentive and offered recommendations. Place was quiet and they validate parking, which is a wonderful bonus. Will go back and try a full dinner meal one day, but when I can dress up more and when it's a date.

Was super excited to try this establishment... key word, was....Made reservations for 4pm on 2/15/21... apparently some shit went down close by the restaurant. Either way nobody called us to say they now going to be closed after they set up our reservation. They never told their employees as they're standing next to us just as confused.. we stood in the freezing temperatures for 20 then split... GREAT SERVICE JACKS BAR AND STEAKHOUSE!!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We heard about the…read morebottomless mimosa brunch here at Cast Iron Chef Chop House & Oyster Bar so we pulled up to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the busy State Street is this gem. There's no private parking, but plenty of comfortable, spacious street parking right out front. Once inside you're immersed in a very fine-dining, elegant, laid-back atmosphere. Lots of woods, intimate-low lighting and upbeat music. I loved the vibes in here. The first room is your bar room where the rail is off to the left, but with plenty of seating to the right. If you continue through the room you enter the main dining room where it's all booths and other tables. Service: Stacey was our server. Things got off to a bit of a rocky start, but they smoothed out throughout the brunch. Food/Drinks: The mimosa was okay... It was REALLY strong because there's orange vodka and orange liqueur in it. It kinda killed the flavor for me because I'd prefer a traditional mimosa with minimal juice, but... no matter. They're bottomless... or supposed to be... Just be mindful of who your server is. Brunch can consist of a prix-fixed menu, which is what we did so we'll be going through that. First up were the Homemade Sausage Gravy and biscuits. These were super smothered and fantastic. Hot, savory, meaty, salty and even had a bit of a subtle sweetness. The biscuit was soft, butter and had crispy edges. Next up were the Cinnamon Rolls. These were HUGE. Lol. Like, how are we supposed to eat AND drink all of this stuff?! The exterior of the roll was crispy and the inside very soft. Not over-the-top sweetness or anything. These were very balanced. Next up were the Bananas Foster Pancakes. But this thing was enormous. It was so thick, like literally an inch thick. Lol. Fresh bananas sliced right on top, it cut like butter, was soft with the perfect crispy edges and these were AMAZING. Punch of sweetness up front, fluffy texture and just a great pancake. For dinner, this restaurant usually serves Cast Iron Popcorn instead of bread, so Stacey let us try it! It was smokey, a little-little sweet with a little bit of salt and maybe a hickory barbecue flavor. I liked it. Lastly, I chose the Steak & Eggs over Salmon & Eggs, but got to try both since my wife was with me. Each comes with gigantic fried potatoes, 3 eggs, a piece of toast, caramelized onions and your protein of choice. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium-rare). The flavors were excellent. It was a little fatty and just was done very well. Value: $64.96 for bottomless mimosas and the prix-fixe menu. Probably the best value brunch in the state. SO MUCH FOOD and strong drinks. I don't know what else you'd want! In conclusion, I really enjoyed myself here and have revisited since my first time! Everything was just as awesome as the first. Check this place out if you're in the area!

It was founded by restaurateurs Daniel Kay, Marc Knight, and Robert Bolduc. Knight and Bolduc had previously had success when they opened the popular southwestern restaurant Geronimo Tequila Bar & Southwest Grill in the Elm City in November 2007. Kay had spent nearly 15 years serving as the president of Connecticut Fluid Power. In 2015, the three business partners came together to open a new venture at New Haven's historic City Point. The location (on the ground level below the Pequonnock Yacht Club) had been home to several restaurants for decades (most recently to Sage American Grill & Oyster Bar). After a complete remodel, they opened Shell & Bones. The trio brought in the award-winning executive chef Arturo Franco Camacho to serve as the culinary director. My wife and I recently had a lunch date at Shell & Bones. The restaurant had been on our bucket list for some time. We loved the nautical theme of the decor as well as the amazing views of New Haven Harbor. We were seated in the indoor patio; it was a little too cold and rainy during our visit for al fresco dining. For drinks, I ordered "The Breakfast Bloody Mary" (Ostreida oyster vodka, Tres Agaves Bloody Mary mix, chorizo, cocktail shrimp, bacon, cornichon, olives) while my wife had the "Lavender Limoncello Spritzer". The cocktails were just as visually pleasing as they were delicious. From the raw bar, we shared four "Lucky Lady" oysters, which were super light and smooth. For our entrées, I had the "Crab Cake B.L.T." (sweet & spicy bacon, romaine, tomato, chipotle mayo, brioche roll) and my wife had the "Shell & Bones Lobster Roll" (served hot w/ house-made Lobster Butter). For our sides, we both ordered "Hand Cut Truffle Parmesan Fries". My sandwich was bursting with flavor, my wife's lobster roll was one of the best we ever had, and the fries were just the icing on the cake. We looked over the dessert menu (which looked great), but we were way too full. We had a fantastic experience at Shell & Bones and look forward to returning!

It is a quarter pound of lobster and you get actual lumps of claw and meat rather than the shredded stuff some other places serve. The butter it's sautéed in is seasoned delicately to accentuate the fresh lobster instead of covering up the taste. The portion was surprisingly large and it comes on a fresh bun that is lightly buttered and toasted. We tried tastes of each other's food and loved every bite! Our server, Donna, was a delight. She answered questions, was friendly and accommodating, yet never hovered. She made us feel comfortable in a new place. The overall restaurant was stylish, yet warm and inviting. The music was fun and lively, without being "too much." I couldn't recommend Barcelona more! We had a great time and left feeling very happy.

My fiancé and I just came here to celebrate our anniversary after having been to Spain this past…read moreAugust! We would say this place is very comparable to the food we had there. Overall, it was a great experience! Service, food, and drinks are tasty. They have plenty of seating, including bar seating. For tapas we got: patatas bravas, jamon & manchego croquetas, spanish omelette, and lamb shakshuka. They typically recommend getting 3-4 tapas each, this amount was perfect for us in addition to a half paella dish! My personal favorite tapa was the spanish omelette. It was sooo good, especially with the sour cream. The other tapas were delicious as well. My only note is that the lamb shakshuka was toooo salty. We decided to get the paella salvage and it was pretty darn good! Definitely comparable to Spain. I would consider this place a date night spot given the price point, but overall, a great place!
