Reviews got me to try this place and writing this so others don't get duped. Atmosphere is 10/10 and it's very quant mafia themed. Service is 10/10 and bartenders were friendly and we never had to wait on service. Let's talk about the food- hence the reason you go to a steakhouse. Tried the appetizer sampler and happy hour from 4pm-6pm appetizers are half off. Lasagna on the platter was plain, close to the worst tasted by my palette.

Stuffed mushrooms were delightful and temperature were served piping hot. Sausage was dry, casing was crunchy and hard to chew. Olives were nothing special. Overall on the platter, 2 thumbs down. Also ordered the ribeye rare and this...

was floating on a plate of melted butter and shaved garlic slices. Steak was flavorless, chewy and poor quality of meat. Ribeye wasn't marbleized but rather thick paintings of fat running through the meat. Other chain restaurants have better meat quality. For the price of this experience, we should have opted out for another restaurant with higher quality of meat and food. Happy hour is 4pm-6pm with 1/2 off apps and some other deals. For the month of June, mention Paul Castellano for 20% off.

Elegant dining in Fredericksburg. Located on Main Street a little bit off the beaten path, this is a great dining establishment unlike many of the others in town. They encourage more Formal which is refreshing in a town where most restaurants invite casual. We were on time for our reservation, but waited a few minutes in their small waiting area. The hostess/manager had a bit of a school principal attitude, but overall was pleasant. We were seated in a small room amongst several other tables, but still felt intimate. The lighting is a bit on the dark side, but the candles bring out a great atmosphere. A violinist and cello created a romantic feeling (Enchanted Rock Orchestra Strolling Duo). We started with cocktails, which were crafted beautifully. The menu has old classics as well as innovative ones.

Bordeaux while I had a Tuscany blend. Both delicious. For our entrées, we shared the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce with candied brussels sprouts and hand whipped mashed potatoes as sides. The food was surprisingly delicious, well presented and portioned. We truly enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we had the bananas foster cheesecake. Unique, not too sweet, delicious ending. If you come to Fredericksburg, definitely try this restaurant. You will enjoy the experience, the ambience and most definitely the food.

Excellent customer service, drinks, and food. We went to celebrate my birthday and they had a sign at the table saying happy birthday,, cute touch! We started with the focaccia bread will roasted garlic dipping oil, it was good. We both got the 8 oz filets. I had mine with the peppercorn sauce and added the shrimp and my hubby had the chimicurri sauce on the sauce. Both sauces complemented the steaks nicely and the shrimp were huge! We got mashed potatoes to share as well. They brought me the crème brûlée as a complimentary dessert for my birthday, it was very good, but I was still stuffed from dinner. If you are in the area and looking for a nice steak dinner, go give them your business.

Wow what a beautiful ambiance inside, I love all of the black and white photos of different celebrities. There wasn't a wait whenever we came and we didn't have a reservation, however I could see this place getting busy. Everything went well! We had a lackluster anniversary dinner the evening before and this place definitely made up for it. The ambience was relaxed and inviting. We were sat near the front to the side of the bar. It was a busy spot and not the most romantic, but this was easily overlooked by the live instrumental music, a violinist and bassist were a welcoming touch. They helped set the mood. On our table was a plaque recognizing our 25th anniversary celebration, which was a nice touch. Our waitress immediately approached us, welcomed us, and congratulated us. She was engaging and on her game the entire evening. For drinks, I ordered the NY Sour and my partner a glass of Decoy red wine. They were promptly brought to us. Our waitress gave us breathing room to enjoy our drinks before placing our order. While doing so, the hostess came by and lit our candle. When we were finally ready to order, the decision was simple. We were lucky enough to be there on T-bone Thursdays. The meal consisted of an 18 Oz pre-cut T-bone with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. Plenty for us to share. It was amazing. Since our go-to steak is usually ribeye, we had not had a T-bone in quite a while, and it was worth the wait. One of the better steaks we have ever had, seasoned well and cooked perfectly medium rare. The potatoes were solid, but shown up by the carrots. Even sharing it, we could not finish it, especially once we were told we would be given a complimentary cheesecake. Might I add, one of the creamiest and most flavorful ones ever. We had no choice but to make room for it. Everything about Jack's screamed NY except for the attitudes. Everyone was friendly. I highly recommend them, and make sure to ask about its history while there.

This place was incredible--easily one of my top ten dining experiences ever. From the moment we walked up, even being greeted by a server coming in from the patio, to the warm welcome from the hostess and staff as we entered and were seated, it felt as though we were being invited into someone's home. Amanda started by bringing out a complimentary tomato and mozzarella appetizer, and she continued to be an attentive, friendly server who made the experience even better. The Parmesan trout was outstanding, and the ribeye arrived on a sizzling hot plate, bathed in melted butter--absolutely unforgettable. And the mashed potatoes? I wish I could have those at Thanksgiving. The Mulberry Street Tartufo Sundae was enjoyed by my husband and was definitely large enough for two to three people--he even took some home. My only disappointment was the crème brûlée; the top didn't "crack" as expected and instead had a thick, chewy layer that I ended up not eating. Overall, this is a wonderful spot for a special occasion or anytime you're in the mood for a nicer evening out. Definitely $$$$

Came here on a random weekend. The good: Our waitress was very friendly and polite. It's a cute restaurant with a lot of JFK memorabilia. The not so good: Ordered a rib eye and I really think they gave us a strip. There was no marbling and it was extremely tough and very difficult to chew. The texture and taste was more like a strip than a ribeye. If it actually was the rib eye, it is the toughest ribeye I've ever had. The flavor was good though (and had a very beefy taste like a strip). Ordered medium rare and it was cooked correctly (medium rare) so that's good. FYI it is pre-sliced. The hamburger was probably the dryest hamburger I've had in my life. It was ordered medium rare and it came out well done like a leather shoe. It even crumbled apart because it was so dry. I added bacon and even the bacon was dry! I have no idea what happened. Fries were good though. Trout was a little dry and bland. It was fresh though. Asked for a side of any kind of sauce they had. They brought out bernaise sauce (extra $4 charge on the bill) The food took an incredibly long time to come out. I think we waited for an hour. I really wanted to like this place, especially since our waitress was great but I won't come back and don't recommend this place. The food didn't hit the mark. They also charge a 3% credit card processing fee so that was fun. Everything was $212 with 22% tip.

We had a wonderful experience for a special occasion dinner. When we arrived for our reservation, we were offered a complimentary glass of wine while they prepared our table. This was such a nice touch, and we got to enjoy the artwork and live music as we waited. Our server was very professional and kind, and the service was great all around. Drinks were good, and we really enjoyed the food. The French onion soup, Brussels sprouts, and sliced potatoes were all delicious. The steaks were huge! They were tasty and cooked well, but there were quite a few gristly pieces in both steaks we ordered. This wasn't a big deal for us since the portions are so huge, you could just eat around them. Next time we might order a fish or pasta and steak to share. I do think this is one of the best places to eat in Fredericksburg. We had a very good experience, and the service and ambiance is what makes the restaurant stand out. Our server brought a complimentary dessert over for our special occasion and even brought the live band over to sing a snippet of a song for us. It was special and we will definitely be back.

I've been to Jack's a few times and had great experiences, but I felt like this past time there were a few things that you would want to know when making a resolution: 1. they are having some air-conditioning issues so the room that is next to the bar is exceptionally cold. When making your reservation I would ask to be seated in one of the other rooms. 2. I feel like every restaurant does their steak temperatures a little different, which is totally fine. But sometimes I feel like having a reference point helps you know how you might want to order. So I attached a picture of medium rare. In my opinion, if you are between to choices, maybe pick the upper one.

They gave me a complementary cheesecake for my birthday. SUPER YUMMY!

Hubby and I had my birthday dinner there. Ambiance is great, I love the lighting and mood. Employees are very friendly and nice. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I have never had a steak like the one I had here. It was so tender and juicy. It literally felt like it would melt. Highly recommend Jacks Chophouse!

We love Jacks Chop House. It has become a must every time we go to Fredericksburg. Our first waitress was Amanda, was she a home run, made the visit so enjoyable. On our anniversary we had Justin, first class guy. The bar is a great place to start your dining experience, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The steaks are out of this world and cooked to perfection.

This was our first time at Jack's Steakhouse. For our last night in Fredericksburg, we splurged a bit and came to Jack's. And they did not disappoint. We were a bit early for our 6 pm reservation on a Sunday night and sat comfortably on seating near the hostess station. We got seated and water came right away. Our server, Megan arrived and greeted us warmly. She too our drink order while we perused the menu. Bread, oil and vinegar was brought out soon after. It was a nice touch and tasty too. We both had Old Fashioneds and I had the Smoked version. The cocktails were great. Megan returned and told us a bit about the menu. We ended up splitting the following: - Small Wedge Salad - Creamed Spinach - 12 oz Bone-In Filet The salad was huge and very good. The creamed spinach was amazing and also a large side order. The steak was cooked medium rare like we ordered and was also very good. We ordered Cannolis to go for dessert. What a great experience. We look forward to returning next February when we're back in town.

For a Mother's Day brunch in Fredericksburg, we ordered from Jacks Chophouse. We went to pick up the food on Sunday and Mike was the person that greeted us! He was so kind! I didn't meet the chef but kudos to them too! The food they prepared was so fresh as they were taking it out of the oven as we arrived! We ordered salmon, chicken, short rib, a Caesar salad, wedge salad, brussle sprouts, and asparagus. We also had two cheesecakes. Everything was tasty! Standouts: The salmon was cooked to perfection! The wedge salad had many people going back for seconds. The brussle sprouts were delicious. Though I did not dine in, I was very pleased with the service and that Jack's Chophouse kindly accommodated our pickup order (at 11am) though they don't open for service until 4pm.

While the prices are a bit high (all beef prices are currently) this place is exceptional. The food and steaks are amazing. Cocktails are quite delicious as well. We have always had great service here, and we have been multiple times. We will go back too! When you walk in you feel like you are transported back to an old time high end steak house! Hands down my new favorite place and I tell everyone even though I don't want it to be too crowded for me! A restaurant with swagger. Sitting in a dimly lit bar area was super romantic. The food outrageously good. We don't go to a chophouse and not order steak, but e got the best dang lasagna we've had in the Hill Country, and primo lamb chops! Opted to go for our 25th anniversary. Walked in and noticed their window unit first thing. Which is fine BUT being told to remove your hat and having this dusty run down window unit on display is crazy. This is a house converted to a restaurant and did not feel the class factor. Hat removal wasn't a big deal. We were seated in the back and felt like a sardine. It was really hard to sit and be comfortable when the other two tables were so close they kept bumping our table. The candles that were lit seem like a great touch but the black smoke that was coming off ours was so bad. I do not like the 6 bucks and some change fee to use a credit card to pay. We weren't told about that. Or the fact there's an alcohol tax. So one drink was 21 bucks. Deff overpriced for what they give you. I would not recommend this place just on the comfort factor alone. Food was decent but expensive and not worth it. read more

Service was excellent! We went there for a birthday celebration and enjoyed several cocktails. We had the veal, ribeye, strip, and shrimp. All were excellent choices. So much flavor and delicious. For the sides we had the creamed spinach, carrots, and Brussel sprouts which was my fav! The restaurant itself is rather small but cozy. There was live violin and cello music for entertainment. Made a reservation well in advance as my wife and I were celebrating our anniversary. They gave us the worst table in the house right next to the front and the receptionist. I asked to be moved and they did so graciously. Our server was slow and paid little attention to us all evening. I ordered a whiskey sour and asked what type of whiskey they used (of course it was bottom Shelf). "Upgraded" to Woodford Reserve and got charged extra for it. We had what we thought was a pretty average meal for a much higher than average price. Not a lot of flavor to the steaks or Brussels sprouts and the steak was drowned in butter and pre-sliced. As hill country natives, we can say this is not what we're used to. I love Fredericksburg and have been going there my entire life. I didn't realize this restaurant was trying to be a New York themed steak house, which isn't what I'm looking for in Fredericksburg. It wasn't terrible. The service was fine. Ali was an amazing server! Very attentive and answered all our questions. The food, especially the T-bone steaks, were absolutely delicious. Be hungry because the portions are well served! The atmosphere was unlike any other in Fredericksburg, a unique and lovely place. The cocktails and desserts were a perfect ending to a great dining experience. Then Megan took great care of us throughout the meal. We had the family style steak for 2, just the right amount of food. Proper bar service with wonderful crafted cocktails. We had a reservation made for a Thurday night at 5 pm (happy hour was from 4 to 6!). We were happily greeted and immediately seated with our friends in a cozy room with some really fun artwork and trophy mounts! Our waitress was prompt, kind and pleasant. We ordered signature cocktails (half off for happy hour), shrimp cocktails (half off as well),...and an amazingly well seasoned and prepared T-bone steak (that was ALSO on special). Jacks is one of our top choices here in town. They have great steaks and excellent service. It can get a bit crowed on the weekends. What a perfect dinner for our anniversary trip! We've been here before and it continues to surpass our expectations every time. Reservations are definitely needed. We had only about a 5 minute wait for our dining reservation and were offered a complimentary glass of wine while we wait (and not a terrible Texas wine. Listen, I love Texas but let's be honest). Bethany was so welcoming and the first impression for the night. She was handling the constant stampede of people so cooly. Personally, my anxiety would have been hard to mask. Kevin brought us our drinks while we were waiting and was friendly and warm. Finally, Amanda, our server, made the entire night perfection. Jack's is the real deal. A traditional style chophouse with delicious steaks. My MIL ordered a chicken parm and it was a huge portion cooked to juicy perfection. Never waited for drinks or refills and everyone helped each other (After 17 yrs in the industry, while more empathic than most- I also notice far more). I recently celebrated my 30th birthday at Jack's Chophouse, and unfortunately, my experience started on a very sour note. I had a reservation set since December 3rd for a 7pm seating, and arrived promptly at 6:40pm, but the welcome we received was anything but warm. The hostess immediately made us feel unwelcome with her rude demeanor. From eye rolls to suggesting we ask the party at our table to leave ourselves, her attitude was downright hostile. She denied us the chance to order cocktails at the bar while we waited--despite seeing other guests being allowed to do so. They said the bar area was "first come first serve" yet when we said we'd wait, "there was a list". Made no sense. To make matters worse, she was enforcing the dress code on men wearing ball caps, yet failed to enforce the 90-minute dining window listed on the website for the party currently seated at our table. If you're going to have rules that are blatantly listed on the site, you have to enforce all of them. Not just one. It was an incredibly frustrating start to what should've been a special evening, and I was left in disbelief as I wrote this review two days later. Thankfully, the manager recognized the situation and stepped in with kindness, offering us drinks while we waited. Once we were finally seated around 7:45, things improved. Our server was wonderful, attentive, and the food was delicious, which helped salvage the night. While the food and wait service were top-notch, the treatment we received from the hostess was beyond disappointing, and I'm honestly unsure if I would return. It's not difficult to be respectful and accommodating, especially in a situation like this. A positive and friendly attitude from her could have had us all feeling much different. All I wanted was a pleasant experience to celebrate my milestone birthday, but instead, we had to endure an uncomfortable and, frankly, unnecessary level of hostility from her. Professional crooks. When you walk into what looks like a respectable, beautifully decorated place, you don't expect to be scammed--especially not when you're out for a nice Saturday dinner. Neither did my wife and I. We ordered a burrata, a 38 oz tomahawk steak, and a bottle of expensive wine. What could go wrong, right? It started with a classic bait-and-switch. We were offered a 40% discount on certain wines from the list. Two minutes after we ordered, the waitress came back and said they had "just sold the last bottle," so we had to pick another one--much more expensive, of course. The steak arrived just 10 minutes after the order--while we were still eating our starter. The manager (Mike) came to apologize and said the burrata would be on the house. Here's where we made a mistake: instead of returning the steak, we decided to eat it. You don't want to ruin the evening, right? And Mike seemed so nice... It was a disaster. Dry and tasteless, drowned in garlic butter. Nothing like what you'd expect from allegedly 60-day aged meat. And a 38 oz tomahawk? You'd think that's a lot of meat. "Serves 2-4," they said. "It'll be great," they said... Not at this place. It was mostly a huge bone with barely enough meat for two. But the real kicker was the bill. This is where Jack's Chophouse went from cheating to straight-up lying: - The steak was $198 instead of $172 as listed on their website - The wine we were served was not the wine we were billed for (unfortunately, I noticed too late) - A 3% credit card surcharge was added without warning - And the tip? How much is 20% of $455? You'd think $91, right? Wrong. According to Jack, it's $107.60! JUST WOW!!! As a hospitality professional, I'm very hard to impress, but I can tell you EVERYTHING about Jacks is 5 stars. When we arrived at our table, I was blown away that there was a little framed placecard with my name on it - what a WOW arrival experience! This attention to detail is mirrored throughout the dining experience. The service is just impeccable. Our server was the assistant manager (Can't remember her name) and she was incredibly on-point, so polished and sharp, intuitive. The menu is perfect: simple things executed perfectly. Drinks are just outstanding. All of the servers are on their game, moving all night to the same music, out of the same playbook. If you enjoy fine dining a lot like I do, you learn to really appreciate these nuances and respect the craft and the hustle. The food was mindblowing. I'll start with the steak (petite filet) - it was so tender, so perfectly seasoned, I just looked at my friend who was enjoying the same dish and we just stared at each other in awe. Another wow factor was the half clove of roasted garlic - never seen that!! A sumptuous, and yet incredibly simple, touch. Don't even get me started on the wedge salad. We reserved a table for a special honeymoon dinner between the Christmas and New Year holidays. From the moment we stepped inside it was an amazing experience! The hostesses were very kind and even though it was very busy we were seated within a reasonable timeframe. Having worked in the service industry, specifically fine dining, I really like how they have a special set menu for parties of 6 or more, thus ensuring their kitchen doesn't end up with long ticket times. Also, the menu has some excellent dry humor about medium + steak temps!Our server, Auroura, was fabulous! She acknowledged we were celebrating our honeymoon and brought us a little bubbly to start things off. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, a smoked old fashioned for my husband and she made a wine recommendation for me. The mushrooms were outstanding! We then both ordered steaks, an 8oz filet for me and a 12 oz bone in filet for my husband along with potatoes au gratin and creamed spinach. Even though we were more than full with leftovers packed our server insisted we have a dessert to go for later and brought us a slice of cheese cake. There are a plethora of things that I could rave about, but I'll stick to the top three. 1. The warm welcome we received from Laurie when we walked in was greatly appreciate. She was so warm and immediately made my family feel at home. She also took the time to check on us during our meal. 2. The impeccable service - truly top tier!! Kyle took the extra time to go over our options in detail and made sure we understood all of the delicious options that were available. He also checked on our food and our satisfaction with the meals and was very charming. He also has great attention to detail. My niece did not like the first drink she ordered, so he asked her what her favorite flavors were and brought something for her to try and she LOVED it. I really appreciated that extra time to make sure she loved every aspect of her meal. 3. The food - AMAZING!! There was not a single part of our meal that was not absolutely, moan out loud delicious. Honestly, everything was absolutely amazing. I was thoroughly pleased with the food and service, I just had to come here on Yelp (and the Google Review) to express my appreciation. My girlfriend and I work in fine dining - namely, Fleming's in the Domain at Austin - so we know good service when we see it. Kyle, our server, was excellent; I mean top tier service! He demonstrated an extensive knowledge of the menu, and even gave us the lore behind the owner, how he personally procured the items on the menu for his friends and family in New York during his tenure as a senator. We had the burrata and focaccio as an appetizer, and split the 6 ounce filet with patata al forno as our entree. For dessert, we had the crème brûlée and a complimentary cheesecake gifted to us for our 1 year anniversary. And the general manager, Mike, ensured everything was up to par. Altogether, we were so, so happy with our experience at Jack's Chophouse; we'll definitely be back! read more

We had an incredible experience at Jack's Chophouse. First, before we got there the hostess was very patient with me calling 3 times to see if an earlier reservation became available. It did not so we went ahead waiting for our 8 pm reservation. It was definitely worth the wait! The hostess took us right to our table which was in a cozy little room with great ambiance. It was very Italian Steakhouse meets the old west. Loved it. The waitress was awesome. She timed everything very well and we never felt rushed but we also never felt abandoned. She was just paying attention. She was also funny and classy. Our drinks were delicious. I had the Monroe, one of their signature cocktails. We got a few apps, salads and then split the tomahawk. OMG!!! Best one I've ever had. Great wine list too and we went with the Austin Hope Cab. We couldn't handle dessert after all of that but we will definitely be going back. I want to try their veal chop. YUM! read more

Walked in on an apparently fully booked night but was treated to excellent service by the hostess who grabbed me and my friend a drink while she claimed seats at the bar for us. The atmosphere and ambiance is killer, took me 30 minutes to realize the Sinatra playing in the background was a 20 something year old signing live because he was that good. The Chef, Evan, recommended the T-Bone and the smoked honey old fashioned..... best old fashioned in the state. Easy. The steak was to die for, perfectly cooked, and had amazing flavor. The real winner was the apps however, the Bada Bing Kung Pow Calamari and the bone marrow app was out of this world and everyone else at the bar followed suit after watching me and my friend devour them. Excellent recommendations by the Chef and it was awesome to see that the Chef and the manager made time to touch tables even on such a busy night. I arrived, after a long drive, around dinner time on a Wednesday a couple weeks ago. I don't get to Fredericksburg often, but when I do, I get cleaned up and head to Jack's Chophouse. Nice crowd about 7:30 or 8:00. We just wanted something light, so we went straight to the bar, where Tiffany recognized me and said "I have your coffee martini you responded to on our FaceBook page!" I had posted that next time I was in town, that she should save me one! What a great way to start an evening! Only at Jack's. Dinner was exceptional. We had the Brussels sprouts, the broccolini rabe, (we love their veggies), the Lyonaise fries for balance. I am not a blue cheese fan, but the wedge salad made me a convert. And the star of the show was the Fried Burrata. Every time I go my eyes are bigger than my stomach, but it doesn't matter because the food is uniformly excellent and the staff make you feel at home. read more
