A MUST. Do not go through Leona Valley without stopping to eat here! This is a review I have been wanting to write. I cannot say enough about how fantastic my experience here was. From the variety of the dish options, to the dish quality, to the dish presentation, to the customer service from our waitress/owner... everything was on point and surpassed expectations. We had a number of people stop at our table to ask how we were doing, inquire as to what we might need, just talk to us about the history of the place or about the town, etc. I have never been in a place where I wanted to try everything on the menu. As we waited for our food, I saw plates come past us to other customers and I had food envy for every dish. EVERYTHING looked amazing and my eyes followed each dish as it was walked past me. My food was delicious too. My mom's food was delicious. The dessert was not only fantastic, but it was decorated in a manner that you would expect from a fine dining establishment, not a random food stop in the country. We were in the area for cherry picking season and were pleasantly surprised to hear mention of their cherry margaritas... with bits of fresh cherry. OMG. When in Leona Valley... They were packed, but everything was comfortable with a/c on inside, and no real noticeable wait. I had no complaints and only raving reports to give. I cannot wait to come back here. If I lived closer, I seriously would go through their menu. Good job guys! read more

We used to be regular customers, but quit coming here a few years ago when they got new management and the food quality declined rapidly. However, we were feeling nostalgic today and gave them a try again. The food quality is excellent. The Chipotle Western Benedict was one of the better breakfasts I've had in a while and everything else was good (though the biscuit in the biscuit and gravy was a bit dense for my personal taste. They've also toned down the decor a bit, so it's less "Pro-Jan 6th" vibes and more just "Yeah, America!". Though showing Justice League on the TV in the side room was definitely a choice. The people are friendly, sane, and mind their own business. If you are going to get weird about other people's mask wearing behavior, then stay home. One of my favorite weekend events is riding my motorcycle to breakfast. Jacks has been one of this restaurant destination. Typically because of the time I arrive I'm seated quickly and coffee arrives before I disrobe from my motorcycle gear. The breakfast menu has lots of options and lately I have been varying my selection. This morning the item was chicken fried steak. When the platter arrived I was pretty sure a gang of patrons were going to join me. I was disappointed with the chicken fried steak. The entry seemed over cooked. Dipping the entry into the gravy improved the taste. I hope this place fixes issues such as this. read more

Stopped by on a ride yesterday, never been here before. Not busy, probably not 5 customers there. Ordered Eggs over easy, hash browns, biscuit and gravy. Eggs were over cooked, burnt ring around them. Hash browns more like a shredded potato chip, over cooked. Gravy was okay, single biscuit cut in half, over baked. Bottom so burnt couldn't even get my fork through it. Worst meal I've had in quite a while. In the future we'll keep going a couple more miles to a place that consistently has great food in Lake Hughes. read more

Ok, this is a fantastic and delicious place. The food isn't diner or bar food - everything we had was legitimately tasty and with thoughtful recipes. And the service was fantastic and friendly. The Country Fried Steak was perfectly fried and not overly breaded, the gravy was real sausage gravy, and get the Jack's potatoes crispy! The breakfast tostada with chorizo was super tasty, salty and spicy, and huge. I think everything here is made from scratch and it shows!! We were bummed we came too early for lunch(!!) - we had just finished cherry picking (got there super early) and didn't realize it was still 10am Highly recommend this place if you are in the area!! *** Very Upset *** This was my first time trying Jack's Place and I will never go back. First they couldn't sit our entire party together which granted we were a party of 13 but they put us in a room that was uncomfortably warm with a broken curtain that resulted in the sun beaming on me for the majority of the time that we were there. Then it took about 10 minutes to get a drink which I was never offered a refill or another the remainder of the time we were there which was 1.5 hours. We ordered appetizers which were good but I ordered a 5150 burger with no pickled onions and curly fries and the first one to come out was loaded with pickled onions and regular fries and it was offered to have it remade. Everyone else in the party got their food and ate and were boxing it up when my burger finally arrived and it was falling apart and had 2 pieces of HAIR in it. At this point I was done and went to a drive thru for my dinner. I will NEVER go back and waste the gas it takes to go out there. If I could I wouldn't even give it 1 star. read more

It has been awhile since I have been out to Jack's Place in Leona Valley, but I am very glad that I chose to go there. The food and the service speaks for itself, it is very, very good, and although that is part of what I enjoyed there, but the best part of my visit there was the apple cobbler! That was the absolute best that I have had for years, and in case you are wondering, I am a junk food connoisseur! I've never meant any that I haven't enjoyed, but this cobbler was absolutely wonderful, and they have other kinds as well that I am sure are just as good and I am going to go back and try those as well. It doesn't get much better than that folks, I heartily recommend Jack's Place and I am certain that unless you have no taste buds left that you will as well! Enjoy! This is a mixed review and I hope the management will read my comments and take them to heart. The Good: - Food is good, well prepared and served hot. - The food is reasonably priced. - Ambiance is "country friendly". - Staff is caring and relatively responsive. The Bad: - They price gouge on alcohol I would like to come here more, but my recommendation, if you like a glass of wine with dinner, is to order take out food and leave. Let's take wine for example. Their house Chardonnay is Bogle, which retails for about $8 per bottle. They must buy it through a distributor, so their price is more like $6 per bottle or about $1.50 per glass/serving. They are currently charging $8 per glass of wine, a markup of over 500%! In fact each glass of wine they sell pays for the entire bottle at retail! Most restaurants mark up alcohol around 100% or slightly more. So a reasonable price would be $3.50 to $4.50. I'm not sure if their markup is out of pandemic desperation, or if they simply don't understand the economics, or maybe they hope no one will notice or can do the math. In any case, I hope they seriously reconsider their business practices so that more people can enjoy their food and ambiance without the price gauging. read more

This place is probably my favorite place to eat in the AV right now. I have been going here pretty regularly for the last few years and this review is WAY overdue. It is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is always good and the variety is enough that you can go often and not get bored. Plus they have some excellent specials sometimes. The atmosphere is what you would expect for a place out in Leona Valley. It is friendly, easy going and slow paced. Like most good places to eat it is a place where locals flock to regularly. It seems like everyone in the place always knows each other. Whether they are a server or or patron it feels like a reunion every time I am in there. I myself am not a local but have always found the service to be super friendly and very thoughtful. I know there is probably a generic chain restaurant nearer to you than Jack's but I promise that big box place is not nearly as good as Jacks. If you haven't been out to try it I highly recommend it. read more

We have been to this restaurant many times including during covid, and while I would like to give this place a 5 star review, the fact that the wait staff was not wearing masks, bothered me. Even if they are all vaccinated, the current rulr in Los Angeles County is that emplyees in restaurants are supposed to be wearing mask indoors. Something is always off. The first time we ordered a pizza to go, literally in the parking lot I peeked to see if it was the pepperoni that curls...and there was zero pepperoni! So I had to take it back in for them to add and cook. No real apology or offer for a drink while I waited. ‍ The pizza IS good but the pepperoni does not curl into little pools like Little Toni's in NoHo who we love. I'm not docking a star for that but I am docking a star bc the front of the house should have confirmed that the order was correct. This place is 'out there'. If I had returned home without the pepperoni there would have been major disappointment. Their pizza is good that we've in fact given neighbors gift cards to introduce them to Jack's Place on several occasions. A month or so ago, we ordered the wedge salad. The salad toppings are great and although as a wedge it's like a quarter of the head of lettuce, this slice was puny! It was totally insulting considering lettuce is so inexpensive. Certainly half a head of lettuce could have been given considering the near $10 price. We were next door for an art event and wanted to support them vs just bringing our own food in. Lastly, our birthday boy wanted a pizza after our hike at Bouquet Canyon we called in. We didn't have a menu on us and internet service was bad so we couldn't access it online so when we finally were able to call, we ordered a small margarita pizza with sausage. When we arrived we ordered two beers while we waiting for the pizza to be ready. When the server came over to us, the bill was $47 dollars!!! (Without tip) For a small pizza and two beers. The beers were $8 a piece, standard. A small pizza should not be in the high $20 range. That is outrageous for tomato, basil, mozzarella and sausage!! She said the pizza was so expensive bc we ordered it wrong ‍ and we should have ordered it a different way. We feel super taken advantage of. I'm not sure if we will ever actually try their dine in. FYI my SO still tipped on the pizza and beers as a dine in order bc we know things have been challenging but this did not make us happy. Perhaps suggesting the right way to order would have been helpful! On a side note, their bathroom had a leaky sink that was also wobbly and could use a refresh. read more

We absolutely love this place! The staff is always friendly. Dave, the owner is an amazing human!! He's got a good thing going here. It's like being welcomed home when you come here. Just easy-going, homey, family like atmosphere. The drinks are good and cold, and the food is amazing. I try something new every time I come and I have never been disappointed! I would recommend this place if you want to enjoy anything from a chill family breakfast, a nice afternoon lunch, or an evening out with the friends or family. Jack's Place is an absolute must. We just had my husbands 40th birthday celebration here. The staff was so amazing and accommodating. We decorated, talked, laughed for hours!!! And.... The peanut butter pie is to die for!!!
